Wasserman Schultz Booed Off Stage By Florida Delegation . . . But Given Job By Clinton Campaign

Wasserman SchultzHillary_Clinton_Testimony_to_House_Select_Committee_on_BenghaziFormer Democratic Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was booed of the stage by the Florida delegates today as anger continued to rise over emails showing that the DNC actively undermined Bernie Sanders and sought to rig the primaries for Hillary Clinton.  Yet, in coming DNC interim chair (and Clinton supporter) Donna Brazile is calling for Wasserman Schultz to have a role at the convention as a reward for her past work.  In an equally tone deaf response, Clinton has given Wasserman Schultz a formal job with her campaign — as opposed to the informal job that her critics have long alleged.  The fact is that Wasserman Schultz has from the start been the most controversial DNC chair in the party’s history — well before the entrance of Bernie Sanders.  Her tenure has been divisive and destructive for the party.  The effort to reward her by party insiders like Brazile and bring her into the Clinton campaign only reaffirms the disconnect with voters.

Wasserman Schultz discussed her new role for the Clinton campaign as delegated booed her and chanted “shame” over the now confirmed secret campaign for Clinton at the DNC.  She will be the honorary chair of her campaign’s 50-state program.  Clinton heralded the past work and future role of Wasserman Schultz:

“I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years.  I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year’s historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this week’s events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership. . . . There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states.

“I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid–because as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people.”

I would think that this is stating the obvious but the Clinton people might have wanted to wait a bit before giving Wasserman Schultz a position with the campaign when delegates are protesting that she was working for the campaign all along.  One look at the Florida delegation (which is Wasserman Schultz’s most supportive group) confirms that obvious point:

  1. I think the FBI should investigate. There is lot of potential for identity theft here. When the Chinese hacked the personnel files, you bet there was an investigation. Identity theft is not a laughing matter. It is a serious crime. Glad they don’t have my credit card info.

  2. @SqueekyFromm I’d hardly call heckling a conservative speaker depriving him of his free speech rights. Last time I read it, the First Amendment offered no protections against someone protesting you. All it said was that the government will not arrest you for your beliefs.

RE: “The alternative to Clinton is Trump and the alternative to Trump is Clinton. This is a living, breathing hell.”

Agree. However HRC is more dangerous. I’d rather have a negotiator I dislike than a war hawk that I fear.

Vote Jill, pull votes off HRC

  4. @slohrss29

The insanity continues…are they looking for Russians or Martians?

  5. @PlatosCave Actually, Sanders had been active in politics long before anyone knew who Jill Stein was. He didn’t just take his ideas from her, as you seem to imply.

  6. Maybe the FBI will back Clinton, the NSA will back Bernie, and we can have some real mob-hit justice. Just like the Untouchables (well… for us who remember that show, anyway…)

  7. The alternative to Clinton is Trump and the alternative to Trump is Clinton. This is a living, breathing hell.

  8. Just checked out the folks who will speak at the DNC convention – not surprised to see Tulsi Gabbard was not included – after all she had the guts to resign as DNC vice-chair so she could endorse Bernie.

Also no activist celebs like Rosario Dawson, Susan Sarandon, Shaleine Woodley, Danny Glover, Residente, Tim Robbins, Danny DeVito, or any of the musicians who support Bernie.

Of course Chelsea will be speaking. A total liar just like her parents – must be in their DNA.

  9. I just saw the CNN Breaking News Email the FBI is investigating the hack? For God’s sake?? What about what was going on with the actual scenario we are discussing??? Nice to know Clinton has the FBI covering her back… Man.

  10. Another thought. I know that all the DNC corruption is horrible in an absolute sense. Period. But isn’t it Karmic Justice in a way? Didn’t the Bernie SJWs have this coming to them, in spades?

Because who is it who is always shutting down conservative speakers on campuses, that is, depriving people of their free speech rights, and general political rights? The Bernie-ish SJWs. Who is it who didn’t just protest Trump outside his rallies, but actively tried to block him from speaking? The Bernie SJWs!

Sooo, now that somebody has corruptly prohibited them from their full range of political rights, didn’t they have it coming in a Karmic sense?

  11. HRC needs the pros. Gordon G. Liddy recommends dressing infiltrators as hippies.

  12. Clinton can’t win, she can’t unite Independents (largest voting block) with real progressives, they will not join her corrupt BIG$ establishment. The FBI says she is incompetent with National Security, endangered our troops and embassies, may be vulnerable to foreign/corporate BLACKMAIL from information gotten before her lawyers (with no security clearance) DESTROYED it. More leaks are coming, and more lawsuits for her blatant violation of the Freedom of Information Act. The Clinton propaganda media won’t say it but: Her proxy war with Russia in Syria could turn into WW3, all it takes is one plane shot down by “mistake”, which is likely since we’ve already bombed by “mistake” Doctors without Borders Hospitals.

Sanders and Warren aren’t helping, they have just joined the long list of sellouts and make Clinton seem even scarier to well-informed voters. TPP cheerleader Kain is the final nail in the DNC coffin, they just don’t get it, the Middle class has had enough job-offshoring “free trade” Lies, Even Trump and the GOP get it. CLINTON CAN’T WIN EVEN WITH THE M$M CHURNING OUT SPIN FOR HER.

Sanders policies made him #1 with all voters, and he got most of them from JILL STEIN who has promoted them for over a decade. we’re in the age when ideas go viral despite the Establii$ment media, all it takes is for the voters who made Sanders #1 to support JILL STEIN. A TRUE DEMOCRATIC REVOLUTION, If she got in 1 debate she get the truth to voters and WIN.

PS how F’d up is it, homes are burning but Clinton/Kaine want more bombers, and the US does not have 1 superscooper water-dropping plane. We have to RENT them from Canada, but oops they’re not available until September. WHEN A FIRE IS THREATENING HOMES WE SHOULD HAVE A FLEET OF 100 FIREFIGHTING PLANES saving homes and lives, not bombing hospitals. JILL STEIN 2016.

Unfortunately I have to agree with The Donald. Whatever they have done to him has sapped his spirit. To have to stand up there and endorse HRC who represents every issue he’s railed about is beyond the pale. I will always love what Bernie has done for us, but not getting in line. Jill Stein 2016 Tulsi Gabbard 2020

  14. I would be very curious to see what Professor Turley’s view is on Donald Trump…..I have asked this question before…but seem not to get an answer–honorary chair also is meaningless as John Podesta is in firm charge. As such, this is a non-story–the real story is what Bernie Sanders will say tonight after Donald Trump called him Exhausted–I hope I am just as vibrant when I am his age.
