Fox News and conservative media has been reporting that black protesters have been hunting white citizens in retaliation for the recent police shooting, including a reporter who said in a YouTube statement that he had to leave the area in fear of being killed. The question is, if these reports are true, why there has been no hate crime reporting or Justice Department investigation. There is also a sharp conflict raised over CNN’s reporting of the statements of Sylville Smith’s sister. The sharp contrast in coverage suggests either exaggeration from one side or avoidance from another. There of course should only be one side in the reporting of news, but this is the latest example of the reason why so many mistrust the media.
The riots began after the 23-year-old Sylville Smith was shot by a black patrol officer. He was armed with a stolen gun and fled from a car during a traffic stop. The loaded gun had been stolen in an earlier burglary. Smith had reportedly an extensive criminal record. The police appear to have have body cameras so we will hopefully be able to learn more about the reason for the shooting, though the officers stated that they fired after the gun was brandished or pointed at them.
Independent journalist Tim Pool received acclaim in his coverage of the Occupy Wall Street movement. He also has reported that whites were being hunted down. While Pool expressed sympathy with the protesters, he stated “For those that are perceivably white, it is just not safe to be here. And that’s why I’m deciding to leave.”
Fox has also shown videos of groups calling for the running down of whites seen on the streets.
None of this means that all or most of the protesters are engaging in racist retaliation. However, the sharp contrast in reporting is precisely why people increasingly view media as pursuing hidden agendas or shaping the news.
Another sharp contrast is found between the Washington Times and CNN. The Washington Times has accused CNN of editing out the words of Sylville Smith’s sister who called for attacks on the suburbs. Instead, CNN reported that she called for peace and no violence.
CNN showed Sherelle Smith telling protesters: “Don’t bring the violence here and the ignorance here.” In both broadcast and Web stories, CNN framed Smith as calling for peace. However, the Washington Times said that CNN cut away before Smith yelled” “Stop burning down shit we need in our community. Take that shit to the suburbs. Burn they shit down. We need our shit. We need our weaves. I don’t wear it. But we need it.”
That is a very different take from the CNN.com article saying that Smith “condemned violence carried out in her brother’s name, saying the community needs those businesses.” More importantly, it is also obvious news if the sister of the victim is telling people to burn down the suburbs. Reporters are not supposed to shape the news. The report it. That is news. It is also legitimate to explore the history of race tensions and segregation in Milwaukee — the underling anger that erupted into the streets. Likewise, it is obviously news if there are racist retaliatory attacks and whites being chased down streets or pulled from cars. These conflicting piece raise troubling questions of how our media has diverged over preferred narratives as opposed to fully reporting all of these elements.

Milwaukee would benefit from a well-staffed metropolitan police force willing to go to school with Wm. Bratton. Won’t make the slums like the suburbs, but you can cut the homicide rate by 75% and the general crime rate by 50%. It’s been done successfully elsewhere. The homicide rate in the South Bronx (pre-deBlasio) was 8.5 per 100,000. That’s higher than national means today (which are around 5 per 100,000), but below the national means of 1980 (10 per 100,000). There’s a cluster of neigborhoods on the South Side of Chicago with a population of 600,000 and another on the west side of Chicago with a population of 350,000. The homicide rates in these clusters run to 45 per 100,000 and 51 per 100,000 respectively. The South Bronx is much quieter because someone with influence and know-how cared.

Some fairly modest preferences over who you would prefer to have as a neighbor can generate some intense clustering. Urban geographers and applied mathematicians worked out models of this process decades ago.
You don’t need much if any hostility across the color bar for this to happen, nor a great deal of predatory crime. Chicken-s**t disputes between neighbors will do the trick. Your neighbor’s kid climbing on your trellises, stealing your Christmas wreath, dropping the f-bomb on your septuagenarian mother; your neighbors mother honking her horn again and again at 6:00 am. Etc.

The disreputable Mr. Sailer hypothesizes that some unfortunate selective factors are at work. His hypothesis is as follows:
1. Cities like Milwaukee have fairly generous welfare benefits
2. Cities like Milwaukee administer weak social discipline through their formal institutions, to some extent due to social sentiment and to some extent out of social habit (because the German and Scandinavian populations who are the mode in Milwaukee can get along with lightly administered law enforcement and eligibility rules).
Per Sailer, this influences the composition and development of black communities in unsalutary ways, both who it attracts to live there, and how they are encouraged to act over time. More capable blacks leave because they reach the limit of their tolerance of the resulting disorder. Ergo, Wisconsin-style welfare states ultimately injure working class blacks and the people in their vicinity, because they show an excess of indulgence to the black lumpenproletariat.

I have worked in this neighborhood in Milwaukee. It’s as lawless as any neighborhood I worked in Chicago. You all do realize it was a black cop that shot this guy? You don’t even have to see a photo of the cop. Just read the MSM headlines. They all say “cop shoots armed black man.” If otherwise, it would have a bold headline WHITE COP. Do you know that in one NYT report the headline said “unarmed black man” and the first paragraph then said “armed.” They finally changed it. Goebbels would be proud of their efforts.

Law enforcement needs to restore order in Milwaukee and not let matters fester the way Gov. Nixon did re Ferguson, Mo. Celerity of force is more important than neatness in its application.
You haven’t seen ‘hate crimes’ prosecutions because ‘hate crimes’ laws are humbug, as is employment discrimination law. Status signalling among lawyers and educational apparatchiks requires systematic favoritism toward certain mascot groups (homosexuals >> Muslims >> blacks >> hispanophone mestizos >> women with bad attitudes). Prosecuting people for beating up on those in benighted categories (e.g. whites, evangelicals, men in general, and, nowadays, Jews) is low status and will be avoided so long as excuses and artifice can be deployed to give cover to key decision makers. CNN is an auxilliary to this, as are the media in general.
