As I discussed over the weekend, the Democratic leadership appears to be spinning its snatching of defeat from the jaws of victory this electoral season. Various Democratic leaders have been blaming the results not on their engineering Hillary Clinton’s victory over Bernie Sanders but FBI director James Comey. Now Clinton herself is advancing that same spin despite every objective measure to the contrary. It is precisely why Clinton was never able to seriously improve the overwhelming view of being less than honest. Her campaign would continually spin events and scandals rather than deal directly with obvious problems. In the meantime, Clinton’s controversial friend and close advisor Sidney Blumenthal is raising yet another vast conservative conspiracy theory — that it was not the candidate but a cabal of secret agents directed by Rudy Giuliani that caused the defeat.
For those still interested in recent history, the public has been consistent that they did not want an establishment candidate and particularly did not want Hillary Clinton. Clinton and Trump were the most unpopular politicians ever to be nominated for president and over 60 percent of voters viewed Clinton as fundamentally dishonest. None of that stopped the DNC from engineering her victory over Bernie Sanders who presented precisely the populist campaign that many voters were looking for. Clinton had the Democratic establishment and many allies in the media — everyone agreed except the public. That was enough . . . until the voters had their say on November 8th.
Now there are many (particularly Sanders supporters) calling for a massive overhaul of the Democratic party. In response, the establishment has been quick to blame Comey even though Clinton’s unpopularity levels remained dismal and her popularity was dropping before his disclosure to Congress. For many, the problem with the emails was not so much as the concern of her compromising national security but her bad judgment coupled with er belated acceptance of responsibility. Clinton at first laughed off the controversy and refused to say that she used bad judgment. She then begrudgingly accepted that it was a “mistake” while still maintaining that her national security judgment was her primary strength.
Clinton’s first statement after concession came in a private call with major donors. She did not acknowledge her long-standing polling issues with truthfulness or reputation as the ultimate establishment candidate in a counter-establishment election. Instead, she said it was all about Comey even though she was struggling to even gain a few percentage points over Trump who had rallied oppositional forces against himself. She even lost Wisconsin – a first since 1984 for a Democrat. That is not about Comey. The whole election was a disaster as we previously discussed on the blog. While this blog and others openly marveled at the decision of the Democratic establishment to pick an establishment candidate with such baggage, Democratic insiders and the media pushed the line that Clinton would necessarily win and that people would overcome their clear dislike for her. While Clinton appears to have won the popular vote, a Democratic nominee without the baggage and bad polling numbers might have produced a starkly different result, including the possible flipping of the Senate. particularly a perceived outside like Sanders. While I have long been a critic of the electoral college and an advocate of a majority requirement for president, a run off would not have necessarily helped Clinton. First, while she won the popular vote, she was well below 50 percent. She was roughly 5 million below Obama’s total in the prior election against a much more polarizing opponent than Mitt Romney. The final numbers are still uncertain but both REe likely to end up in the 47 percentile. She won Colorado after Libertarian Ron Johnson took five percent. The Clinton campaign sought to win on an anti-Trump vote as Trump sought an anti-Clinton victory. That was not enough for a lot of young people and others who were simply not motivated by Clinton. In the end, the pro-Trump and anti-Hillary voters were unstoppable. Moreover, judging from the losses of the Senate races, the Democrats gave up on selecting a candidate with any “coattails.” The Democrats lost a golden opportunity to take back the Senate and will now face the opposite situation in two years where more Democratic seats will be a risk.
For some, the Comey spin was not nearly conspiratorial enough. After all, Comey had spent weeks being pummeled by the right for his clearing of Clinton of any criminal actions — the basis for a number of pro-Clinton ads and pitches. He then informed Congress that they were looking into new emails while expressly stating that they did not know the significance of the emails. He then cleared her again a few days later. Blumenthal (who has been long denounced as something of a gossip and conspiracy spreader) is not willing to simply stop with Comey. No conspiracy is sufficient unless it is vast and conservative. So Blumenthal is reportedly telling people that a group of “right-wing agents” in the FBI staged an effective coup d’etat. Of course a coup presupposes that Clinton was the ordained new leader and that the election was merely a formality. He is quoted as telling Dutch television that “It was the result of a cabal of right-wing agents of the FBI in the New York office attached to Rudy Giuliani, who was a member of Trump’s campaign. I think it’s not unfair to call it a coup.” Unfair? No I would say unhinged is more accurate.
As shown by the staffer who denounced Donna Brazile last week, many liberals (and particularly young people) are not buying the spin. Liberal blogs are already denouncing the DNC for engineering the victory of the “Clinton-corporate wing.” One such critic is Bill Clinton’s former Labor Secretary Robert Reich who insisted that “The Democratic Party can no longer be the same, it has been repudiated. This has been a huge refutation of establishment politics and the political organization has got to be changed … if the Democratic Party can’t do it, we’ll do it through a third party.”
Notably, in a Hill article, Democratic insiders are blaming Sanders voters and young people for not doing as they were told and voting for Clinton . . . which obviously misses the point. The Democrats have been selling the lesser of two evils for years and voters simply had had enough with the selection of Clinton. The primary revealed deep-seated opposition to Clinton who continued to refuse to turn over her Wall Street speeches and spinned serious questions about massive contributions and speaking fees from corporations and power brokers. Even if the leadership sought to be willfully blind before the primary in lining up behind Clinton, the Sanders movement revealed the depth and anger of the electorate. It was their election to lose and they engineered the Clinton victory and lost it.
To show the inability to even consider a new course after this defeat, the establishment is already grooming Chelsea Clinton for political office under the apparent theory that the solution to the public rejecting the Clintons is to add more Clintons. Likewise, various Democratic members are pushing to continue the leadership of Nancy Pelosi as minority leader in the House despite calls for new leadership from younger members.
So the spin is on. It was not Clinton and certainly not the Democratic leadership. It was Comey and perhaps a hidden cabal of secret agents. The Democratic party is again fulfilling Einstein’s view that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”

Let us be clear. The hiring of Steve Bannon as a WH policy adviser is exactly the same as hiring David Duke. Please don’t normalize this.
LOL! SWM just keeps swinging..and missing. The Hillbots here just take their cue from the Queen and her Court. Republicans LOVE their alibis, knowing as long as they remain in denial/enabling mode, Republicans will keep racking up victories. I learned from coaching baseball for 3 decades, when you blame the umps for your loss, you are a DOUBLE loser.
Clinton is out of the picture. Bernie is the party leader now. Stay calm and organize.
Rack it up……..Wonder if the republican nazi faction or the conservative faction will win. Seems like that is where the real battle is now.
It was Clinton, Comey, and a lot of stuff. When Clinton became as deplorable as Trump fighting with cliches and personality attacks she lowered herself to his level. The vote was so close that it could have been any one of a number of things. The only thing for sure is that enough dupes voted for Trump to make it happen. America has proven to be half full of fools when they voted for Bush twice and now the Donald. So, we’ll have a three steps backward start with a lot of phony incentive money. The debt will triple. And in five years America will enter another recession, not having completely recovered from the last GOP idiot. The fools will still be blaming Clinton, Obama, and whomever else in their sights. And, there will be more sights, on more guns.
Turley will continue to slide down hill and further right as he chases his appointment carrots. Turley has rivaled the deplorable state of the American population with his pandering after posts by supporting the ‘winning’ side. Turley is a hack and a hypocrite albeit clothed in legalese so tight he’s not getting enough oxygen. Perhaps he’ll expire before it’s too late and Darren can take over the blog. Darren is almost through with his transformation.
Let’s see how long it takes for free speech to be quashed. Trump has threatened to sue anyone and everyone. Dissenters on Turley’s blog can be 86’d with the flick of a switch.
Free speech quashed? The lefties are the ones who like speech codes and hate speech laws. All in the name of fighting racism though.
There will be a pay back.
JT will get a position on the DC Court of Appeals. One step closer to the Supreme Court.
Probably, clearly never saw that Turley swung so far to the right until started reading him as opposed to seeing him on television
Darn. The blog does not show the ugly photo of Hillary wearing sunglasses and reading her smartphone intently. Over and over. Roll me over in the clover.
You can’t always get what you want.
You can’t always get what you want!
You can can try so hard… but..
You don’t always get what you neeeeed!

Now that’s an apt name! One of America’s most infamous Presidential killers. I would guess since you use it that you are proud of that particular killer. I don’t really know what to make of that. The picture itself is not ugly. Pictures aren’t ugly. The subject in the picture can be though. So Hillary Clinton is ugly, I did not vote for her because of Her looks but maybe you voted for Trump because of his. Or maybe its the connection Trump made between your namesake and Ted Cruz father
Bunnie – there is something called the ‘halo effect.’ Good looking people are treated better than ugly people as a general rule. They also get better grades in school.
Last night in Boston comedian Wanda Sykes put on a show at a fund raiser to fight cancer. At the end of the performance she went on an anti Donald Trump rant. People started to boo her. As she walked off the stage she gave the audience the middle finger salute. Hollywood and the entertainment industry are just chuck full of classless people. Again when does the exodus begin.

Fauxcahontas meets Fauxcahonest
Nothing such as this article should come as a surprise given decades of Hillary’s behavior and scandalous drama.
If I was her attorney, my best advice to her would be to hang low for a few months and fall off the radar in the hope that the future Attorney General won’t be inspired to prosecute her. But given her unbridled ambition, vainglory, and vindictiveness I do not at all see her remaining silent.
Best answer is to call you what you are ” an ass” By Fauxahontas I suppose you mean Sen Elizabeth Warren. Why are you giving her this name. Is it because She has not presented to you, Her DNA print out?
What is your ethnic background; what ethnic groups are represented in your DNA? I am sure it would surprise you and maybe not in a good way. There are no purebred humans. Looking at your face I can tell you that is certainly the case for you. Would love to see if you could stand up to all the investigations “Fauxhonest” has been through and not land in jail… pretty sure you could not. Lastly, emails and Benghazi Name another Secretary of State investigated for directives of a Presidential Administration. Why aren’t we concerned about the emails (22ml) destroyed by the Bush/Cheney Admin or what about those Americans killed during the Bush Admin in Embassies and a battleships around the world or were those four Americans in Libya more special more American than all the others killed or maimed in and at our Embassies?
They are trying to make white nationalism the norm now.
If opposing illegal immigration makes me ‘alt-right’ (whatever that is). Where do I sign up?
You have already have! There is nothing in the statement you made previous that had to do with immigration. Not one word.
¡Viva Presidente Trump!
An Ass?? Well now, that is a liberal intellectual stimulating brand name. A name that you and people like you who never learned the ART OF LOSING (cause you got a trophy just for playing) just sling around because your pissed off that you smoochy candidate got the waveoff. I am happy to see the Bush’s and the Clinton s leave the politics of the US. We have had enough of them and their 1 world kumbayaism!
Being an ass or using the term ass has nothing to do with liberal or intellectual. There is no art to losing. I have to accept according to the Electoral College; that Trump won. That’s how this works, but I don’t have to be happy about it and I can see what I believe to be the reasons behind the loss. But that was not what was being commented on in my reply.
Bunnie, you should chill and have a carrot.
Just what behavior is scandalous? The e-mails using a private server was what Powell and Rice did. I guess that if you are GOP that is OK. You have posited nothing at all that is illegal, immoral, or even unethical other than making a blanket statement that she did something wrong. I hope you did not do police work in that fashion. She sat for TWELVE hours before the GOP House Committee and they found nothing! Hell, Trump will not release his tax returns while Clinton has done that for DECADES. Then we have the fact that Trump paid a $25,000 “contribution” to the FL AG who was considering joining a suit against Trump. Turns out the donation was ILLEGAL since it came from his supposed non-profit foundation, which we later find out was ILLEGALLY constituted! That means that he committed tax fraud, in addition to others doing the same and taking a deduction for doing that. The complaint is that she got large amounts of money for making speeches. ALL celebrities do that and it is not illegal, unethical, or immoral. In FACT if Trump did this, he would be praised for being a great negotiator!
How about a complaint about Trump not disclosing his tax returns as ALL OTHER Presidents have done? I guess that keeping things secret from the American people is good for the GOP, but disclosing things applies only to Dems. I see that you will support indicting Clinton even before any investigation is done. So much for a fair trial or even a trial.
I just saw that the GOP voted down increased benefits for veterans. That comes as no surprise. though I do have to say that many of the vets probably voted for Trump. They will be getting what they deserve, but it is too bad the rest of us will suffer for their stupidity.
Rice and Powell did NOT use a private server, but entrenched and expedient myths can take on a life of their own.
randyjet – it is a tradition that candidates for President have exposed their tax returns, but it is not a law. And during those hearings when the Republicans were asking questions Hillary could not remember the answer. Besides, a lot of the emails were not out yet. Thanks to Judicial Watch enough are out to hang her and her minions. Also thanks to Wikileaks who destroyed the DNC.
As the Republican Party posted 16 candidates from varied backgrounds to vie for president, I looked past Hillary and Bernie and ask, who else could there be? Where was the cast of nominees from the 2000 and 2004 elections who would invigorate their campaigns and try again? The time was ripe for Jessie Jackson or Sheila Jackson-Lee to come forward and carry the torch that Obama started? Where was Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer with their progressive ideas to move the country forward instead of trying to get elected based on their husband’s last name?
Between Wikileasks and the conservative media, the old rules of Democrat politics need to change. In 2020, a Democrat with a vision needs to come forth. A politician who speaks to Americans and not isolated minority groups. Hmmm, how does President Turley sound?
Professor do you really believe Comey intervention had no play in the way the voting played out? That continuous non-stop calling of Clinton as unlikable had no part in the way the campaign played out? That the Media late attention to Trump “record” had no part in the way the amount of information the public had at its disposal before the election? Unfortunately, Black people and other minorities but Black people in particular have had their entire lives (meaning history) to observe, be afraid of, learn from White people maybe more they understand themselves. This was a survival vote, this was a we are still the dominate race in America. We still matter and he; Donald J Trump says we do and he will make sure we do!. For all those who say it was economics, wrong! Look at who voted for Trump and what their wages. White women voted for Trump, this will be best for my “family” read my race I need an authoritarian in charge. Same reason any woman is in the Republican Party. If it had been economics what woman would vote against making more money; money She deserves as an equal. What part did voter suppression play in the voter turnout? Make it difficult to vote, make it difficult to find voting place, make it difficult to get the proper id. So you actually get to the polling place but now you have to stand in line to vote for hours after standing for hours at your job or standing on public transportation to get the farfetched voting site. Yes waiting is hard and you have the Media telling you, Clinton is dishonest, should be locked up and you have Comey speaking out both sides of his mouth. So yeah, there was a lot going on and all of it against Clinton and late to the game was the Media, who is very sorry now for the intense coverage of emails something it seems only the media and Republicans cared about. Lets remember Rep Kevin McCarthy, all of the hearings were about lowering her popularity, lowering her favor ability. It worked, along with the false equivalencies between Clinton and Trump. Not until the end did anyone start to see behind the mask that was/ is Trump.
Every democracy in the world requires voter ID in order to exercise the franchise. You need an ID to enter a Federal facility or board an airplane.
Even Mexico requires a photo ID to vote!
I am tired of hearing about low agency, low IQ types who can’t be bothered to obtain an ID to vote.
How is this even controversial?
Antonio – a Puerto Rican for Donald Trump
Sorry Antonio, Every democracy in the world does not require voter id; in fact most don’t and neither did the States of the United States until GOP decided to promote a nonexistent problem; voter fraud! For a learner-ed person like yourself, I know its impossible for you to believe that there are Americans that have never left their cities; their neighborhoods. Guess what; no id necessary. There are Americans who have never been on an airplane and have no desire to ever get on one. No Id necessary. Some Americans have had state furnished id in the form of Drivers License but if it has expired (though you haven’t) you can’t use it. Maybe you are no longer comfortable driving; then you again have no ID, don’t need Id to ride the bus or taxis. These are just a few of the reasons an American may not have State recognized ID; State recognized is key. A lot of Americans have work IDs but they are not recognized for the purpose of voting. State Student ID is not recognized for the purpose of voting. So Antonio, that is why this is controversial! Have no idea what “low agency” is or means. Low IQ wow, spoken like a true republican what does a person’s IQ have to do with getting an ID? How about making it easy to get this required form of ID. Are you a high income Puerto Rican? I only ask because some wealthy Black Americans are republicans and vote their wealth/pocketbooks, the rest of us vote our self interests pocketbooks, health and safety, and women equal pay and Men not asked between our legs to get out….
I would respect you more if you just admitted, no I don’t favor voter ID because the people who support candidates I do, tend not to have it. Not out of any high minded principle.
I am from a union, blue collar background.
How patronizing of you to assume that because I have a Spanish name that means I want millions of illegal immigrants to overrun the United States and collect benefits once they do. Another reason I despise Anglo liberals.
And yes most democracies require voter ID. Mexico does as does Israel. In fact, Israel even has a wall, which I fully support.
Bunnie – you have no handle on the history of the United States if you do not know about voter fraud. Chicago made it famous, but other states used it as well.
It reminds me about when the German Imperial Army generals said the WWI defeat wasn’t caused by problems with food supply, war weariness or their own incapacity but by a “stab-in-the-back” by Jews, Socialists and Masons.
Yesss!
Hillary Clinton Won Popular Vote By Almost 2 Million — Can Trump Still Be President?
The article continues:
Nearly a week since the presidential election, all the ballots have yet to be counted, and yet it’s already been determined that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by a massive margin. At this point, Hillary has almost two million more votes than President-Elect Donald Trump. Can he keep his position despite this?…
For anyone hoping that the massive popular vote lead means Hillary has another chance at regaining the presidency, don’t get your hopes up. Trump is still president-elect after obtaining the necessary electoral votes, which he did on election night. It does not matter the outcome of the popular vote count at this point, though Hillary can take solace in knowing that voters turned out in the millions to support her as their commander-in-chief.
When a government has a long-standing policy of being lax on border control, to the point of changing the demographics (and, by extension, the politics) of its electorate, then proponents of such policies cannot point to the resulting demographic change as a moral mandate to continue such policies. This would be akin to European colonizers wiping out Native American villages – and then holding an election, where the new majority is European. When the results of such an election come in, and support the continued onslaught against the natives, we would be neither surprised nor impressed.
Leftists are pointing to Hillary’s supposed “popular win,” but ignoring the fact that much, if not all, of this “popular” vote differential can be attributed to the open borders policies of previous administrations.
Since you must be at least 18 years old to vote in the US, let’s tally up the number of such births prior to 1998. In other words, how many anchor babies were eligible to vote in this year’s election? The answer is 1,860,000. Were any anchor babies born before 1980? Obviously so.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is Hillary’s “popular vote.” It’s entirely the result of the very same crimes that Trump has vowed to end. To cite the fruits of such crime as a reason to question the legitimacy of Trump’s victory is a sick joke.
Illegal immigration is not a civil right!
Antonio – a Puerto Rican for Donald Trump
Ding dong the witch is dead. . .
Clinton always plays the victim card – remember the million dollars in debt when leaving the WH sob story? left out was that Bill was able to clean that up with 5 speeches, maybe 5 days work – and the victim card goes on and on –
Yes every two years the Dems say “vote for us we are the lesser of two evils” then they throw the progressives a few crumbs and then dump on us – gets tiring after many years – – then Bernie comes along and speaks the truth about many things – – people crawled out of the woodwork for Bernie – –
A couple of people ask me about Bernie – having heard some bad things about him – told them I would rather go for someone I can trust and cares over someone like Clinton – – no I did not agree 100% with Bernie – but he has been consistent over the 10 years I listened to him on the Thom Hartman show – if he did not know he said he did not know – if he disagreed with the caller, he said so and explained his position
Would Bernie have won? don’t know but it would have been interesting to watch the race between him and Trump – honest caring grandpa that people like vs/ the carnival clown – but the clown kicked Clinton’s behind in the end – yes GOP voter purges and election fraud helped the clown – – but the Dems were too stupid to fight for the voters that were purged from the voting roles for being a minority and voting Dem
Good analysis Mr Turley –
Sad to see how many people have 20-20 hindsight – too bad the Dems don’t
Question; When are you going to re-visit the John Cusack discussion I was shocked to find myself reading what were my own words from others. That discussion and the carefully laid out charges put at the door of Bush then compounded and multiplied by OBama is all the justification I needed for coming to the same conclusions and doing something about it.
Nuremberg Defense was not a defense but a plea guility with request for clemency. After Obama it’s a social promotion with an Atta Boy You Go Girl accolade.
The part on the loss of civil liberties especiallly the expansion Dec 31st to include ‘suspicion of support’ and still with out exception or exempt clauses for citizens and still replacing probable cause and due process with ‘suspicion of’ with tribunals and no civil rights has been poo poohed every where I’ve mentioned it.
It is not a time to lower the rhetoric for ojne simple reason.
If we can’t win a war, declared or not, without giving up everything we were supposed to have stood tall for then we cannot win the war and have in fact lost it. The only difference was our own government became the terrorists.
I see the co-opting of Trump is already in progress. I am remaining an expat as a result. it’s safer here. but until internet is cut off I can still speak out against and thank Turlow and Cusack for the frank discussion.
As for you others what’s your excuse? There were hardly any comments pathetic miserable
The really sad part was the media that first printed it was an is about as left wing fascist progressive as one can get. Where the hell were the do nothing Libertarians? Where were the supporters of the Constitutional Republic?

I think that is my only hope. I tend to type faster than my brain and do not take sufficient time to edit. Thank you for the suggestion.
Off topic, but related, as an American Jewish supporter of Bernie Sanders, I can say one upside to Trump’s election is that this is the first time in 15 years I’ve seen liberal pundit and liberal activist, especially those activists on campus, express their concern about anti-semitism.
You can imagine how relieved I am to have found strong liberal friends that I will be able to count on once more.
What I also like, is that for the first time ever, we have a Jewish first daughter, and a Jewish son-in-law of a sitting President.
Who won the popular vote? I used to think the most honest people in the world were Americans. My mind has changed. Even Journalists are dishonest. What a pity. The world is doomed. No moral leader.
Clinton won the popular vote because of big numbers in CA and NY.
Antonio – a Puerto Rican for Donald Trump.
Clinton won by large margins in CA and NY and also low population right wing rural states like Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska, carry far more weight in the Electoral College than more populous states do as a result of every state having two Senators regardless of population.
You are right. Whether the votes come from cities or the rural areas, history records that she won the popular vote. This means more Americans support her. This does not change the result of the election which has been won by Mr. Trump in accordance with the system but it is just being fair to her to say that more Americans support her than they support the president, if every single American counts. No one is contesting Mr. Trump’s victory; but facts are facts.
Yes. Everyone is trying to explain why people preferred Trump, when the fact is they preferred Hillary. Hillary has won the popular vote by a significant margin.
What saddens me is there is a lot of rationalization whereby people look for justification for things which they know are not correct just because it protects their interest somehow. I naively thought Americans were exempt from this type of thing. I thought they were people who could call a spade a spade.
No, if you call a spade a spade in America, the freaking DOJ will come down on you, and you will probably get fired, to boot! You can’t even criticize a racist outfit like BLM without getting canned!

You speak from inside. I speak from outside. So you understand better I believe.
Our federal government is based on federalism. Campaigns are not run on who wins the popular vote. They are run on who gets to 270 electoral college votes. I think I learned this in fifth grade.
If there were only two candidates running for president, the most optimally run campaign would be the one that got 50% +1 of the votes in just enough states to get to 270 electoral college votes. Doing any more than that is an inefficient use of time and resources.
That’s why Republicans spend little time campaigning in populous expensive media markets like CA, NY and IL. They could spend enormous amounts of money and not get to 50.1%. It does not matter if Democrats get 100% of the votes in CA or 50%+1, they get 55 electoral college votes either way.
If would be more “democratic” to abandon the winner take all way of allocating electoral college votes in those states. But then both parties would actually have to compete in those expensive states because Republicans in upstate NY and Republicans in rural IL and CA would actually have their votes count in the electoral college.
You are right. But don’t forget that this time you win next time I win. It does not have to sound as one party is always doing the right thing and winning. Four years ago and eight years ago, Democrats could have said what sounds like what Republicans now say.
It has nothing to do with “doing the right thing.” Many large cities have huge minority populations, and the Democrats simply buy their votes with give-away programs. Even though their neighborhoods are often crap, the minorities are poor, and they need the free stuff. Sooo, they keep the crooked Democrats in power. That is why the Democrats are in favor of illegal immigration. It keeps wages down, and people poor, and the White Democrats can stay in power and get rich.
Other Democrats are not that cynical, but they like to feel smart and good, sooo they buy into all the victimology narrative. Plus, as a group college-educated white Democrats really hate working class white people, and say bad things about them. Sooo, they get their virtue signalling from the poorer blacks and hispanics.

Well. we depend on you inside to help us who are outside to understand. I have some questions and need enlightenment https://yoursuccessinspirer.com/2016/11/15/us-is-the-2016-election-result-final-already/
The Electoral College gives each state a say. The majority of (most) states wins its electoral votes.
If a Presidency was won by popular vote alone, then only the most populated states would matter. CA and NY would be kingmakers, and the rest of the country would be flyover. And once states lost their voice, they would become dumping grounds.
This happens on the local level with rural areas. They lack the votes for self determination. So nearby cities route pipelines through Native American lands, high speed rail lines seize rural property via eminent domain, drain their wells as they tunnel, and route booming trains through small towns. We are dumping grounds for pedophiles, and the preferred location to build new prisons. You don’t see them build prisons or nuclear reactors in shining suburbs, do you? Typically, they go in the rural areas. Rural areas are used as the trash cans of the cities. The victims of “not in my backyard.”
Each state brings its own unique needs and perspectives. That is why they are given representation in the Senate.
Trump won the majority of votes in 32 states, to Hillary’s 18, plus DC. But she won CA and NY, densely populated states. If we went with the popular vote, then two states basically would choose our President. And once the President no longer cared about offending voters in other states, what would he do for or to them?
Excellent comment, Karen. Spot on.
Very good explanation. This is very wise of the American system. What doesn’t seem right to me is for someone to say, as I have heard, that Hillary lost because she is more hated and Trump won because he is less hated. The person more Americans love, if every American counts, in this case (popular vote) is Hillary. The on more states love is Trump. It looks like 50/50. I find it thus unfair to say Hillary is more hated. Maybe Hillary is more hated by American states but more loved by the American people (popular vote). Trump is more hated by the American people and more loved by American states (electoral college). The equation is balanced. What am I trying to bring out? That we should not try to paint any of the two persons as hated because both of them are loved. They each had huge a following. They both scored a goal each but according to the rules of the game, one came out victorious. The other should not be painted as less meritorious.
The only blame you can fix to Comey is he should have submitted for indictment in the first place.
Hilly should kiss his assets for letting her get that far. If the democrats are smart they will tell Princess Chelsea to stay with the foundation, they should have had enough of the Clintons.
For heaven’s sake. How many grammar errors can I make in one post? Is this a new record for me? Is there a grammar/spell check I can turn on in WP?
Karen, errors or not, great post. You might try this for checking your web postings https://www.grammarly.com/s?AT3079=2
Lighten up on yourself, Karen S, we all do it even when we reread before we post. You made your point perfectly and I heartily agree!
I know Clinton supporters who sincerely believe that the only reason why their candidate lost was racism and misogyny. No matter how I explain it, what evidence I present, their minds are stuck in the racism and misogyny groove, and they just cannot get out. Otherwise, they are lovely people.
Children do this, too. It’s not my fault. It’s the worlds. Unfortunately, there are also people in prison still clinging to the believe that the world is to blame for their predicament. Taking responsibility for your own actions is empowering.
I think the State Propaganda Media is partly to blame. There are people who believe everything they read on the Internet, and everything they hear on TV. Very dutiful. Only a very deep credulity would lead people to burn down the world if their candidate didn’t win. They sincerely believe that they are going to die if Trump takes office, because Hillary convinced them that she, and only she, can freeze the temperature, pardon the pun, and stop the seas from rising. Granted, Obama was very convincing that HE would freeze the temperatures, and stop the seas from rising, and we needed to elect him or we would all die. When people are convinced that their lives are literally on the line, just as terrorists are convinced their souls are on the line from the package of goods they were sold, they can justify murder, mayhem, riots, shooting, hate speech, anarchy. “Come on, man! We’ve got to overthrow the recently elected government or we’ll all die!!!” What extremes won’t people go to when death is on the line? And I’ve seen one article after another that Trump is the reincarnation of Hitler and will unleash death on Jewish people, and his patriotism is clearly antisemitic. This frightens good people into behaving in ways they never would normally. Again, it’s the fascist totalitarian social control – believe as we do or you are a racist/bigot/stupid meanie, beneath contempt and therefor you deserve the loss of friends/family/job and we’ll excuse violence.
So, perhaps it would behoove us to tone down the rhetoric and stop whipping up the gullible.
I would like the tone of discourse to become more positive. Perhaps some White Hat hacker can permanently disable Trump’s Twitter account so he won’t give any more fodder to the doomsday profiteers.
