Ariana Grande Declares That She Is The World’s “Hardest Working 23-Year-Old Human”

migmotherariana_grande_during_the_honeymoon_tour_in_jakarta_2015It is sometimes fascinating to see how celebrity status can warp the perspective of some stars.  Ariana Grande is clearly one such case.  You may recall how Grande was previously shown in a truly disgusting moment where she licked donuts at a shop and proclaimed how she hated America.  She later clarified that when she said that she hated America, she was really proud of being American.  Now, Grande has caused a firestorm by declaring herself “the hardest-working 23-year-old human being on Earth” as well as noting that she is remarkably “cute.”  With millions out of work and others working multiple minimum wage jobs, readers were irate at how incredibly out of touch Grande is.  By the way, Florence Thompson ( the women in this iconic image from the 1930s) was only a few years older than Grande and had four kids with a fifth child on the way when this photo was taken. Her husband was dead.  Thompson might have worked a tad harder than even Ariana Grande.
A recent study showed that 6 out of 10 Americans have less than $500 savings.  Even if they were disgusting enough to lick donuts, they could not afford it.

It appears that, even at 23, Grande (like so many celebrities) is so out of touch with reality that she thinks that being a signer and star is truly hard work.  It does not help to have an army of sycophants who constantly gush over your talents and “sacrifices.”

By the way, there are 100 million children working in hazardous and disgusting conditions just to pay for crude shelter and minimal food.  In China and other countries, hundreds of workers die each day from exposure and overwork.

I will stick with women like Thompson for my inspiration  She worked every possible job to keep her children alive, including chopping cotton for 40 cents an acre.  She raised six children with starvation a constant companion. They could only dream of licking donuts.

  1. I may risk offending someone, but in all honesty I’d rather hang out with a Southeast Asian sex worker than Ariana Grande. The last time I was in Thailand for Cobra Gold, Hat Yai, the hotel I was staying at went all out, and brought in scores of hookers. And nobody was partaking. I wasn’t partaking. But, I did sing Karaoke with them, and compensated them as if I were partaking. Because time is money.

One time a female petty officer joined us, unexpectedly. It was so cute. the Thai girl thought she was my wife and got all flustered and formal.

Later, when I got to Bangkok waiting for a flight out, I was spending time at the King’s X. Because I could play Jenga with the girls. And I’m not into watching girls shoot darts out of their, ahem. Yes, they were professionals. They probably didn’t graduate high school. But I’d bet good money they were a lot more interesting than Ariana Grande.

    • Last time I was there was in the triangle and the work was serious and no fun at all. I HATE snakes. Made it a point to never put it on my vacation list.

There are probably tens of thousands of south east Asian sex workers who could contest for the crown on both counts.

  3. Out of touch, spoiled, self absorbed girl surrounded by sycophants. Perhaps there is a really nice girl in there somewhere that is just smothered with all the insanity of fame.

She needs to get out of the spotlight for a year and go join the Peace Corps or some other organization, digging wells, volunteering at rural hospitals, doing food drops in war torn Africa, sitting with women in a shelter for those who survived domestic abuse around the world. People need to break out of their comfortable, safe, cocoon at least once in their life. They need to see how the rest of the world lives so they can count their blessings, pass it on, and get some perspective on their life.

    • Wow are you condemning left wing ideology or WHAT? This is the one that objected to be objectified as sex for sale symbol in the first place. Must have been the publicists idea.

    • “She needs to get out of the spotlight for a year and go join the Peace Corps or some other organization…”

      I would recommend the military.

“US Navy Ship loses anchor and chain”

So she can learn what a mildly bad day is like.

A really bad day is when someone dies.

  4. Prof Turley was hard-pressed for a column today. Nonsense such as this is called “Kardashianism” and is what causes nobody’s to become news. For shame. prof, surely Turley you can find something in the world worth writing about, and,if not, I am happy to lend suggestions. Please don’t do this again, please?

  5. Using hyperbole and notoriety to gain ‘celebrity’ is boringly usual. Never heard of this nitwit before, and will do my best to forget her now.

  6. James Brown was “The hardest working man in show biz” and watching him perform there was no doubt about the veracity of that claim. I never heard of this bimbo.

These non political posts are most pleasant because they don’t attract the lonely, crazy, political ideologues.

  7. Someone needs to teach this spoiled stupid unappreciative entitled little bitch what REAL live is like….
people like her make me sick to my stomach.

    • Sing it, sister.

I can’t because I’m as a white male who likes girlzz I’m automatically an Islamophobic, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, racist, bigoted weaponized arm of the christofascist white male heteronormative patriarchy.

      But you can.

  8. A recent study showed that 6 out of 10 Americans have less than $500 savings.

They have less than $500 because (1) they’re paying down debts (which they incurred to attend institutions like yours or (2) they spend nearly all their income. It’s challenging to save when you’re at the 30th percentile or below in this country, but that would not account for 60% of the population having almost no savings.

    • That is sooo true. I have friends who have one child, and make about $150,000 a year, which is a millionaire’s salary in Shreveport. Yet, they had to finance a new computer because they didn’t have $400 extra cash to spend on it. All while their house note is south of $1,000 per month. God knows what they blow the money on. I don’t think they are doing drugs or gambling. She has Kroger’s time delay for checks down to a science. She can write a hot check on Tuesday for food, and knows it won’t clear until Friday which is her payday. I know some people can’t save money because they don’t make enough, but there are plenty of others who just can’t save because they can’t spend their income fast enough.

Which sort of ties into this story:

      • No. I do not have access to their financial statements and therefore lack relevant date to make and objective evaluation. None was provided except personal opinion which is subjective. Do you understand the distinction?

        • You gave two reasons why they have less than $500 in savings. Now you’re saying you don’t know if that’s true.

“They have less than $500 because (1) they’re paying down debts (which they incurred to attend institutions like yours or (2) they spend nearly all their income. ”

Do they or don’t they? Please make up your mind.

          • Your asking the wrong poster and probably misquoting someone else. I was asking where it came from not taking credit for the statements.

  9. This is my experience with her entire generation, with very few exceptions, not just across the nation, but across the sea, too. I have seen it from kindergarten all the to the most elite colleges and into the work force. They are just *not well*. It is the most epic failure of parenting I have seen in my lifetime, and I honestly don’t know what it portends for us, nothing seems to change with those even now in their 30s. Comparisons to Rome are apt. Heaven help us when they start raising children themselves.

    • My experience is current as of about ten years ago.

The current crop is good. I could work with them. And if I could work with them, anyone could.

Shotguns. Fire control. Fire fighting. Didn’t matter.

      Easy peasy.
