I have been discussing the dubious claims of criminal liability over the meeting of Donald Trump Jr. with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower. As I have mentioned, there is a legitimate reason to investigate this latest undisclosed meeting, though the overheated rhetoric on possible (if not imminent) criminal charges is bizarre. This morning on CNN, Sen. Richard Blumenthal raised possible charges of espionage and treason. Putting aside the facially weak foundation for such charges, I must again note that the underlying narrative around this meeting remains rather speculative and unbelievable. I have worked on the legal side of national security investigations for decades in both espionage and terrorism cases. As I said when this meeting first surfaced, none of this makes sense as an actual Russian intelligence operation as opposed to a rather transparent “bait-and-switch.” If this is a Russian spy mystery, it hardly makes for a sequel of Le Carre’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.”
Once again, I consider the meeting to be a serious mistake and that the proper response would have been to contact the FBI about such an email and offer. Moreover, it is highly disturbing not to have had this meeting disclosed earlier. This posting is simply about the suggestion that this was, as stated in the email, a Russian government operation.
Let me try to sum up this theory.
The Russians decide to reveal their super secret clandestine effort to secure the presidency for Donald Trump. So they put together a high-ranking, high-visibility meeting at Trump Tower without knowing who would be at the meeting. They also allow a creepy publicist to send an email discussing the grand conspiracy. They then do a Charlie Brown football moment and do not actually disclose the promised incriminating evidence against Hillary Clinton. Does that track with any cognizable Russian intelligence operation? What possible advantage is there in revealing their operation, promising intel, and then not actually sharing anything of value? The Russians are not perfect but they are not morons. If this was Russian operation, we truly have over-estimated our opposition.
Russians do not usually set up meetings at places like Trump Tower with an unknown number of persons to discuss secret operations. Setting up such a meeting would give others leverage against the Russians by disclosing their operation. Russians are not known to hand over leveraging information, particularly for nothing in return. Spies are by their nature control nuts.
In the end, we are also left with the curious fact that nothing was turned over. Even if you doubt the word of those in the meeting, there is the fact that nothing was actually revealed against Clinton. In the end, there may be more evidence to change my skepticism and the Russians could be shown to the utter clowns suggested in coverage. However, the most obvious explanation is often the right one. It is Occam’s razor that the simplest explanation is usually the right choice between theories.
There is another possibility for Occam’s razor: the Trump team fell for the world’s dumbest bait-and-switch. This lawyer has long fought to lift the adoption ban. That is not the type of thing that would secure a meeting, let alone high-ranking meeting, at Trump Tower.
Of course, the email is damaging and plays well to this theory of a grand Russian conspiracy with Donald Trump Jr. at the center. He did after all eagerly go to a meeting with the understanding that he was going to meet a Russian government lawyer who would pass information damaging from Hillary Clinton as part of a Russian effort to influence the election. He is worthy of criticism for such a decision and it certainly fuels the conspiracy theories. However, as Easterhase told Smiley in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy: “Things aren’t always what they seem.”
JT, you can go on and on with your lie, distract, deflect and repeat line for your republiborg collective day after day but the truth will come out. As for some of your readers, it very well seems that they could care less about the safety of this country, just as long as they get their far right ideas into play. Some of them are down right racist and just willfully ignorant of fact and history. The alternate universe that Trump supporters are in right now is dangerous and virtually certifiable. Lets the chips fall as they may with Trump, but our country can not and will not go on with such incompetent leaders of mass distortion.
Couldn’t have said it better, FW.
FW – true. Time to boycott the MSM and that includes Nominally Public Radio
Have you been paying attention for the last 3 years?
Poor poor little rich sleazebag
Loved that novel. Le Carre was a master storyteller. Unlike the jackals who are trying to destroy Trump. Maybe they should solicit the help of that greasy lying “christian” MSM Dem operative Brazile. She seems to have quite the imagination. Dems and RINOs have no shame – or credibility.
“Donna Brazile’s publisher Hachette promises a book that is “equal parts campaign thriller, memoir, and roadmap for the future.”
http://www.politico.com/story/2017/07/12/donna-brazile-book-hacks-240415
Trump’s bot army has no shame.
autumn, it is an autobiography, right? Else why that particular title?
🙂
FFS – can you imagine anyone actually purchasing her book? Should be titled “Thoughts from a liar: affirmative action done gone wrong”
Wow, for a con law professor, JT sure claims a lot of expertise in how Russian intelligence operates. Nevertheless, I think I’ll rely on actual former spies interviewed in recent days who say this is exactly how they operate.
I think we ought to wear black armbands and a small sign which says: Shut The Uk Up! and wear them when media people appear in our presence. Read : Tinker v. Board of Education of Des Moine, Iowa. It is a Supreme Court case on First Amendment rights. I will send the citation later.
I just don’t think any of this will stick to the Trump entourage.
Business plays by one set of rules and Washington by another. The current banking and regulation laws allow for a certain amount of interchange, however national security is a dimension within itself that takes a long time to get up to speed on regarding protocols and previous scandals that warranted congressional attention.
The more and more the Trump posse’s articulations are defined and exposed the more attention Washington in general will be having the light shined on itself as well.
The Clintons will be the first victim of this scrutiny when this debacle blows over and that will be the most shocking heart attack for the Left.
The more they roll out statue after statue the more scrutiny will be demanded of the Clintons.
The MSM and the Left should just drop it and move on. They are going to be hypocrites for the next 100 years if they continue to insist on the government obeying the law, especially the executive branch.
Just “drop it” and move on. I’m sure you agreed during the 90’s and implored Mr. Starr to just “move on.” Or when Birtherism was proved wrong, time and again. But, hypocrites gonna hypocrite.
It is up to Mueller and junior just gave him more to investigate. He needs to finish the job and decide if there is a need to prosecute and then move on.
Yeah, he’s been on the job less than three (3) months. This is going to take a little time. Calls for this to be wrapped up are beyond premature.
This morning on CNN, Sen. Richard Blumenthal raised possible charges of espionage and treason.
Partisan Democrats have grown amusingly unsubtle. Donald Trump Jr wasn’t peddling secret information to the Russians (and had no such information to peddle to anyone). Russia does not qualify as an ‘enemy’ country, and he appears to have received nothing of interest from any official of the Russian state (nor to have met with intermediaries for state officials). Blumenthal’s a lawyer, btw.
On the Vitalis sleazy, greaseball scale Blumenthal is a solid 9. He’s the guy who proclaimed he served in Vietnam which was a flat ass lie.
Doesn’t it get old refuting arguments about creeps who cite other creeps?? Especially the media, you know… the ones who told us that Trump had ZERO chance to win the election, so you should just stay home. “Nahhhhh, Trump’s so far down in the polls, he’ll never win…. ignore this photo of Trump’s giant crowds… Oh–here’s a photo of Clinton in an empty room…
Maybe it’s time to repost the known list of illegal transgressions of the Clintons out there, so we can compare weaselly analogies to flat-out illegal behavior. I still like the check-taking while you’re in office. If I was young, I’d reconsider a career in politics now that you can have that painted on newspapers, and not have to own up to it.
At some point, we’ll be able to hang all of this on one person for not cutting this off at the outset. Guess we’ll just have to wait for that day.
EXCLUSIVE: DOJ Brass Says Comey Struck Insider Immunity Deal With Mueller To Avoid Criminal Charges
http://truepundit.com/exclusive-doj-brass-says-comey-struck-insider-immunity-deal-with-mueller-to-avoid-criminal-charges/
Turley’s WILLFUL ignorance of the fact that Tump et al egregiously LIED about any contacts with Russia for the last 6 months is nothing short of breathtaking and clearly implicates him as a venal partisan who cares nothing about the grave damage Trump is doing to our democracy and the office of the Presidency.
Even the National Review editorial pages have CONDEMNED Trump Jr.’s emails and meeting, calling into question the very integrity of the Trump administration and raising the very real possibility that criminal acts were indeed committed: The National Review!
My last comment here again relates to Turley and his indefensible enabling of Trump’s racism, which I’ve said ad nauseam, makes Turley a racist himself. Turley, of course, can’t comment on my accusation because it’s true and his own position here is indefensible, but I will point to two recent incidents on Morning Joe, where Turley appears, that further prove my point: (1) Joe Scarborough himself quit the GOP yesterday and cited Trump’s racism — and the GOP’s enabling of it! — as a major reason why he left the party. (2) Today (7/13), George Will, appeared on the show and said the tipping point for him leaving the GOP was Trump’s “text-book racist” attack on the Mexican-American judge hearing Trump’s case and the GOP’s “normalizing” this racism.
Now I get most people here think I’m a raging idiotic liberal and that’s fine because I think most people here are raging fake-news racist whom Turley has willfully cultivated on this site. Fair enough. But to Turley and the moderators here I say again: How can such a so-called respected law professor so consistently say nothing about the most openly and widely reported racist administration in modern U.S. history? How? It’s utterly disgraceful, dangerous, and indefensible.
I guess I’d have to ask, what exactly was said that was racist or not true?
I seriously doubt anyone as deranged as you appear to be has much, yet I’d still like to see Turley sue you for defamation based on principle.
How can such a so-called respected law professor so consistently say nothing about the most openly and widely reported racist administration in modern U.S. history?
Oh boy. At least you got around to asking a question. Give your own question a think. Then open your mind a skosh and work through the various possibilities. Trust me, the answer is in there (your head) or widely available in the public domain, if you truly are in search of the truth. If that’s not acceptable to you then perhaps consider going to decaf and staying away from sharp objects.
chris marker – Trump’s attack on the judge was that the judge was racist, which he most likely is. He is a member of La Raza. Morning Joe hasn’t been a Republican for a long-time, he just finally came out of the closet.
Jim22, Scott, Olly, and Paul Shulte,…
I mentioned this once before, but maybe some of you missed it.
If you google “Bowfinger, the letter k”, you can view a short 2-3 minute video for a deeper understanding of hidden racism.
Tnash, Jim, Scott, Olly, Paul Shulte — Critical university based studies of racism have long identified that a fundamental mechanism of white racism is that it is very hard for white people to “see” their own whiteness and the privilege it secures for their identity and access to opportunity in the U.S. Trump, of course, is the most terrific example of this analysis as, for example, had Barack Obama campaigned for President and was caught on videotape saying he liked to grab women’s “pussies”, or that white judges should disqualified from jurisprudence on the basis of their race, he would surely have been metaphorically lynched by white America and summarily removed as a candidate by the DNC. Moreover to this point, as many GOP figures have gone on record saying, if Pres. Obama had fired the FBI chief for investigating his administration and its potential collusion with Russia, including secret meetings on par with Trump jr., the GOP would have long started impeachment hearings: None of you can in good conscience deny this.
As for FACTS pf Trump’s racism: Again, every leading university based study on Trump’s election has documented this: German Lopez’s work at VOX provides excellent resources to this scholarship, but you can also easily contact the Race/Ethnic/Political Science Depts. at major universities for even more and unequivocal research.
I’ll also re-post these two links to the Wash. Post and TIME magazine documenting Trump’s historic racism:

Peace Out
So in other words, you have nothing specific about trump. How is his women comment racist? Crude, sophomoric, etc. maybe, but racist? Pointing to a bunch of liberal professors who most likely hate white people is not an argument that Trump is or has done racist things. So try again. As for the President Obama is concerned, what percentage of blacks voted for him again? Talk about a racist election.
Chris Marker,..
If Trump’s long time pastor had said “God damn America”, and Trump was linked to Bill Ayres, I think he’d have a major problem.
Obama slide by with that in his background.
Many people are not consistent when it comes to equal treament of political figures.
I’ve pointed this out several times over the past two days, re the disinterest in finding out who commissioned and funded the Russian dossier.
Versus the uproar over Trump Jr. exptessing an interest obtaining negative information about Hillary.
Not everything is about race.
A determination to root out racism where it exists, and where it doesn’t exist, is counterproductive.
Endless playing of the race card gets old, but it’s so deeply ingrained and highly valued by you that I don’t see you giving it up.
Jim — Read the two articles from the Wash. Post and Time magazine that document specific RACIST statements/policies by Trump himself. Then ask yourself if the leader of the Birther movement is racist.
Tnash: Ditto: Read the two articles I posted: I defy you to show an Obama equivalence.. Then cite a racist equivalence to Trump’s leading the Birther movement.
As for the race card: No one plays it more than Trump and his supporters and every leading University based study on this matter proves it. Racism and Sexism, which closely intersect, are the documented major reasons why folks voted for Trump: FACT.
The leader of the Birther movement was the HRC campaign in 2008. She’s racist?
“Then ask yourself if the leader of the Birther movement is racist.”
Surprisingly Chris M. I have agreement with you. The leader in the Birther movement was the Clinton campaign.
You sound like you have a chip on your shoulder.
Chris Marker…
I’ll get to the articles when time and bandwidth allow.
As far as voting rights, the Obama/ Holder team immediately dropped any action against the New Black Panthers.
A veteran civil rights activist who observed the activities of the NBP at the polling site called it ” the worst case of voter intimidation ” he’d ever seen.
When someone makes a claim like ” every leading University based study on this matter proves it”, it’s like saying “every joirnalist things this way, therefore it’s true”.
85% + are liberal Democrats….groupthink is not proof.
“Proof” produced as a result of groupthink is not compelling.
One who has recently posted her referred to her work as a journalist.
That help explains why respect for journalism is at an all-time low, as well as her abysmal ignorance.
She was a good fit for that field.
Similarly, you’re not likely to get very far in a University sociology department if you “buck the party line”.
There was a time when people were more deferential to these “experts” and their “proof”.
Those days are gone.
tnash, Jeremiah Wright had way more integrity than Obama IMO even if I disagree with some of his rhetoric. He did a lot for the poor in Chicago. Also, he served in the Navy and Marines. Obama joined the church just to network and discarded Wright at the behest of his handlers.
Autumn,
According to the Rev. wright, “the jews wouldn’t let Obama talk to him”.
He now comfortablyresides in a million $ house in a White enclave of sunurban Chicago.
Suburban
Tnash, Wright was right – the Zionist Dem faction – Rahm Emmanuel etc hated him. I don’t agree with certain ideas he had as I said but I think he was still a decent guy overall. And while he served he still wasn’t able to sit down at the counter with whites until years later. The Tuskegee experiment, Emmet Till and other atroctries blacks endured surely affected his perspective.
Does he just have the one house or several like Barry? =)
autumn – don’t forget that black doctors were complicit in the Tuskegee experiment.
Also the black mark of slavery didn’t just exist among white slave owners in the US. There were black slave owners as well.
Autumn,…
Rahm Emmanuel was Obama’s chief of staff for less than 2 years.
John Podesta took his place…I don’t think Podesta is Jewish, so if it “was the Jews” blocking contact between,Obama and Wright, which Jews were responsible after Emmanuel left?
Autumn,..
I know that Rev. Wright served in the military…I just wasn’t sure what country’s military he sign up for.
Pastor exclaims, “goddamn america” and that defines Obama in your mind; apparently that phrase frightens you, why are you on a site that pretends to favor free speech? IOKYAR
It doesn’t frighten anyone. It disgusts most people. That he sat in Jeremiah Wright’s congregation for 20 years tells you something about him, just not something the media wants you to know. What Steve Sailer had to say is salient: there were in 1988 thousands of black parishes in Chicago, and of all of them he lands on a highly political Africanisant outfit. What’s wrong with a common-and-garden AME or Convention Baptist congregation? The smart money says: too much religion.
What should define Obama in anyone’s mind is the manner in which he and Mooch have had a simulacrum of an adult life rather than the real thing. One of the chaps on the Harvard Law Review offered that BO always seemed to want to be the President of the Review rather than to accomplish anything in the job. The position was political. With some effort, his critics finally found one unsigned case note published the year before his term of office under his authorship. After completing law school, he lands neither a position at a firm nor a clerkship, instead noodling around writing a book. After a year, he lands an adjunct position at the University of Chicago. (In twelve years on the faculty, he publishes not a single scholarly article). A year later, he lands a position in a modest firm, practicing landlord-tenant and labor law. He is never offered a partnership and is listed as ‘of counsel’ after just three years there. He sits in legislative bodies for 12 years, but is an acknowledged maven in no area of policy. It was more of the same when he was in the Oval Office. The man is incorporeal planes.
No, given that Obama attended Wright’s church for a decade and heard similiar POVs and then only chose to throw him under the bus tells me what kind of person he was – an empty neo lib / neo con.
Why don’t you educate yourself? Blacks are worse off under Obama than under Bush.
I recommend “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama”‘ by Pulitzer prize winning author David J. Garrow.
Also, check out writings by Cornel West, Glen Ford, Bruce Dixon.

Black people were hit particularly hard by the crash when many mortgages went under water.
Frankly,…
Banks were strongly encouraged by people like Barney Frank to increase sunprime lending to Bkacks.
He and others stated that the rate of lian denials to Black applicants was evidence of discrimination.
There was not only “permission” to increase subprime laons…..banks were encouraged to do so.
Rev. Wright seemed to blame the Jews more than Obama for ending their relationship.
autumn – Obama threw his mother under the bus, so why not his minister?
True that Paul =) Also his grandmother.
Ynoy,.
Who’s denying his right to say that?
It isn’t a free speech issue.
Phony ckaims like your about “free speech” are a dime a dozen.
chris marker – Wapo is fake news. Additionally, all sociology departments who are running these studies are run by liberals.
Paul Schulte,..
The days of being bowled over by the “proof” these sociology “experts” provide are long gone.
The judge in question was a member of an association of hispanic lawyers with the term ‘La Raza’ in the name. He wasn’t a member of the La Raza.
There’s no reason anymore to be deferential to judges and the smart money says that bias and unprofessional behavior are rampant. If judges wish to be treated with respect, the need to earn it.
I’ll give you something “racist”, and something JT should do an article on – BART refusing to release videos of savage feral black teens attacking a train:

“feral black teens” — “FERAL” — You should be banned from this site for life, but your so gargantuanly stupid there may be an excuse for you. But just to educate you once again: RACE is not a BIOLOGICAL condition. It is a SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION. Black people possess no “CRIME” gene, no “FERAL” gene, that makes them distinct from whites! God are you stupid.
in this case, feral is an adjective, describing the behavior of these black teens. It is directly on point. Mr. marker, what word would you use to describe a gang of 40+ black teens attacking passengers on public transit?
True. “Genes” aren’t responsible for the crime and violence. Black hoodwhore single mothers are!

chris marker – I would posit that anyone of any race can become feral. It has nothing to do with being black.
Tell that to your friend, San Fran Gay Republican (NTTAWWT).
Ynot – what does a Republican’s being gay have to do with anything.
Agree 100%.
I meant to agree with Chris. I don’t know why my comment ended up h ere.
Since you agree with chris, I will ask you the same question, Yasmine: What adjective would you use to describe a gang of 40+ black teens attacking passengers on public transit?
You get you’re defending a person who just used the term “Black hoodwhore single mother”. You get you’re defending the diseased vile racist mind that said these words? So now do you understand why this same person’s use of the word “feral” would be racist. It’s racist because there’s a long documented history in which blacks have been conflated with wild “feral” animals while whites have been identified as the most intelligent and advanced of the so-called human racial species. Do you not know this obscene racial history that dominated the U.S from the 1600s–mid 20th century? You can google the term: It’s called the “era of scientific racism.” Research it: Now you’ll know why the use of the word “feral” is racist here.
So what adjective would you use, chris marker, to describe a gang of 40+ black teens attacking passengers on public transit?
Probably the same person, certainly like-minded.
Get mad all you want, but what race invented the term “baby daddy” to describe the biological father of their illegitimate kid??? Which kids are 72% illegitimate. Watch the video above. You may learn something.

” George Will, appeared on the show and said the tipping point for him leaving the GOP was Trump’s “text-book racist” attack on the Mexican-American judge”
Justice Sotomayor in a lecture virtually echoed the meaning behind what Donald Trump said about that judge when she pointed out why she thought she was was needed on the Supreme Court. (The Supreme Court is different than the lower courts because it decides matters of the law and doesn’t take other issues into account or at least it is not supposed to do so.
Completely false. Trump said the judge should be DISQUALIFIED on the basis of race. Sotomayor NEVER talked about race as DISQUALIFYING: She stated that obvious: That a SCOTUS composed of 9 old white guys would likely not have the real-world experience of, say, being a black or Latina woman living in the U.S. in 21st century who routinely has to deal with situations of racism, sexism, discrimination: Do you disagree?
“That a SCOTUS composed of 9 old white guys would likely not have the real-world experience of, say, being a black or Latina woman living in the U.S. in 21st century who routinely has to deal with situations of racism, sexism, discrimination: Do you disagree?”
Actually we partially agree, chris, if you take Trump’s statement and explanation into account. Whereas a judge takes into account all sorts of things when handing out a judgement the Supreme Court Justice is supposed to uphold the Constitution and the law of the land even if the result is unpleasant. It is up to Congress to correct the law and the lower judges to add a bit of widom to dry decision..
Trump felt that his position on immigration could make a sensitive judge react on the bench in a way that would be unfair to Trump. It is not uncommon for judges to have to recuse themselves so what Trump was saying wasn’t inaccurate even though i don’t agree with the way he said it.
I should add chris that if you follow Trump’s history he is not prejudiced. Look at who he hires and compare the diversity with those similar builders in NYC. He has been accused of a lot of racism and has even been accused of anti-Semitism which is a rather stunning accusation if you know his history. You realize daughter Ivanka is married to a Jew and has converted to Judaism. In fact all his married children are married to Jews and his grandchildren are Jewish. Sometimes claims of racism, sexism and anti-Semitism just aren’t true.
It is very bad to play the cards of hate accusing people of things they are not. That demeans those that suffered discrimination. I am not saying that you do or don’t rather I am putting things into perspective. Blacks were enslaved in the US, but slavery has existed all over the world and all over history. It was the mostly white western man that called for an end to slavery causing it to be abolished in most of the world. I say white western because those are the people that had power. In the US we had a Civil war that led to the death of 620,000 Americans. That was tough price to pay to end slavery so let us not create new racial divides that need not exist. Americans are the same no matter their color, race or religion.
chris marker – isn’t there a black guy on the Supreme Court?
To Chris
You said, “Now I get most people here think I’m a raging idiotic liberal”

This is excellent strategy by Trump and his family. By surfacing something that is so inviting to the opposition, they draw out the bile and ire of those that realize how damaging he is to this country. The opposition cannot contain itself and the issues are lost in the rage. It’s no different than taunting someone into losing their temper only to point and change the focus. However, that does not negate the fact that Trump and his mob are a travesty at best. Trump is a lying and inept person except when he has his inherited wealth and connections pandering to the mega rich. Who in their right mind can believe that he has America in mind when he performs? How on earth did this slick sam buffoon get into the White House?
Smart enough to suck you in. Which realy doesn’t take much. Read the last past before this. Sucker!
Make that the last several posts.
issac – he got into the WH because he knocked off all off his Republican opponents and then knocked of Hillary. I keep telling you to get an American Civics book. It is not that hard, really.
“How on earth did this slick sam buffoon get into the White House?”
I cannot find the article, but there are a couple of professors who have researched the election results, and found that the tide was turned in favor of Trump by pro-military but anti-war supporters who feel their districts have been particularly hard-hit by the current foreign policy. Surely wishful thinking, but they must have felt they needed to try something, and knowing that HRC was publicly willing to spread more death and destruction around the world (disproportionally paid for by the blood of these citizens of these districts). But we know foreign policy is apparently not important nor well understood by the Democrat lot who shares commentary here.
If I find the article, I will post it.
I did find it. Been working alot, so I haven’t been checking on events that much. Try to check out Zerohedge a couple of times a week, along with some others. The study was referenced there:

There are millions and millions of people in America fed up with the ultra liberal coasts putting forth an America that has benefited the elite and subjugated the poor to a life of entitlement with no self respect. These people value hard work honesty and self determination. They want gov’t to develop a strong military to protect their families and stay out of their personal lives from cradle to grave. These are the people Trump tapped into and they know he is a scoundrel but they also know it takes a creature of the swamp to clean the swamp. Many of these people hate casual abortions, would die before they would take welfare, can’t stand the decadent Hollywood and entertainment class of limousine liberals who live in gated and walled communities but want the borders open to anyone and the government to foot the bill.
Hear, hear!

You’ve been overdosing on Richard Herrnstein.
Fecundity varies little across coarse social categories (bar one), and certainly hasn’t varied that much over a period of 90 years. The one exception is that the hispanic minority (about 17% of the total) has notably higher fertility than the rest. In the U.S., the tfr for white anglos is about 1.8, for Amerindians about 1.8, for non-Hispanic blacks about 2.1, and for hispanics about 3.9. The salient factor there is that the hispanic population is suffused with Mexican and Central American immigrants used to lower living standards. The fecundity lasts one generation. Total fertility rates for Mexico itself are around 2.2, those for Central America about 2.4.
You can find occupational groups with low fecundity (college teachers). You can find ethnic niches (e.g. Jews). About 1% of the workforce consists of college teachers. About 2% of the population is Jewish.
While we’re at it, in 1928, women were earning perhaps 11% of the professional school degrees and professional women were generally assumed to be celibates. Only a tiny sliver of the female population would have been considered ‘achieving’, much less ‘high achieving’.

Here is the link to Judas goat
Judas goat
The article spends most of the time outing democrats
and then goes on to describe the attack on democracy by the Judas goad of both political parties
There are links in the article
Reporters have asked several Republicans in Congress, if an agent of a hostile foreign power offered you information to discredit or damage a political opponent, what would you do? These Republicans either waffled or said they would consider it. Not “I’d call the FBI.”
In general, I think there is a view on the right that the Democratic party is a far worse adversary than the Russians or any other foreign power.
Except for the Republican “Never Trumpers” who seem surprisingly committed to the rule of law.
There is no popular ‘NeverTrump’ constituency. There aren’t many people who write for a living who bother with it either (bar a few people on the contributors’ list at National Review and Commentary who are on patronage). There are cadres of that description, Wagers nearly every last one of them is part of the lobbying-fundraising-congressional-staff-Washington-law-practice nexus. These people are committed to their deals and income sources. Nothing all that principled or altruistic about it.
Oh, there’s George Will. George Will’s committed to playing George Will.
I do not understand what the label “hostile foreign power” relates to? Law? I don’t think so, but maybe some of the educated law people can clear that up. The “hostile foreign power” meme comes from the establishment neoconservatives and neoliberals who have been pushing for more conflict with Russia. Next up, Libya.
It is against the law to accept foreign campaign contributions. It seems that no actual contributions were made at the meeting, but perhaps there was agreement for future contributions (e.g. pizzagate, emails). In any case, Jr’s emails show an interest (Love it) in receiving such contributions and he took two high ranking campaign members to the meeting expecting such contributions. It’s called conspiracy to break the law.
That doesn’t answer the question pertaining directly to, “if an agent of a hostile foreign power offered you information to discredit or damage a political opponent….”
And as usual, you can ignore the rest.
“It’s called conspiracy to break the law.”
Betty, there are elements necessary to be proved in order for one to be guilty of conspiracy. You have to prove each element with fact.
1) an agreement between two or more persons to commit the crime
…Meeting is not agreement
…gathering of information is not agreement.
2)The person must know the objectives of the conspiracy and must help in obtaining that objective.
3)There must be an overt act in carrying out the conspiracy where that act occurs at the time of or after the object of the conspiracy was discussed.
To make a judgement in the fashion you suggest suggests that you would prefer to live in a dictatorship where proof is not necessary to prove one guilty of a crime.
Allan,….
Concern about “conspiracy to break the law” in relation to foreign opposition research is a very recent development.
Virtually no one showed an interest on finding out who hired Steele/FusionGPS to compile the Russian Dossier.
Hardly a word about it in the media.
I don’t remember one comment here expressing the need even identify those behind the hiring of Steele and Fusion.
No accusations of “conspiracy to break the law”, etc.
This newfound “respect” for “the law” is interesting.
Depending on the target, people like BettyKath have an intermittant “concern” about the law when it suits them.
This newfound “respect” for “the law” is interesting.
This has been my point all along. Remember towards the end in Dancing with Wolves where he goes back to the fort to get his weapons cache? This is how the political class views our constitution. Bury it, and when all else fails, dig it up and use it.
“Virtually no one showed an interest on finding out who hired Steele/FusionGPS to compile the Russian Dossier.”
tnash, the newsmedia is interested in promoting a coup.
No one knows if Mueller will decide to prosecute Jared and Don Jr. and the rest so it is all speculation at this point.
“No one knows if Mueller will decide to prosecute Jared and Don Jr. and the rest so it is all speculation at this point.”
He is not the one to prosecute. He is acting like an investigator and a one man grand jury. A prosecutor still has to meet the criteria I layed out and they can’t. That is unless our country becomes more of a dictatorship under the left where proof is not necessary and fidelity to the Democratic Party represents a get out of jail free.
He has all the powers of a US District Attorney. You are not in charge of the criteria plus you have not seen the evidence.
“He has all the powers of a US District Attorney. You are not in charge of the criteria plus you have not seen the evidence.”
I am not in charge of the criteria. The written law is. frankly there is such a thing as the law and you will find in a law book that there are three elements that must be met to render a guilty charge of conspiracy.
My suspicion is that we have seen almost everything regarding DonT’s part. Now we have to look at the part played by Democratic actors for it appears that the Russian lawyer somehow is connected to Democrats and Obama. Whether those actions will lead to a charge of conspiracy is something now surfacing. My suspicion is that Mueller will lean left in all his dealings but will fail to levy charges against the President.
http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/07/12/doj-settled-massive-russian-fraud-case-involving-lawyer-who-met-with-trump-jr/ Sessions’ Justice Dept just settled a Russian money laundering case with her. She sure gets around.
That is interesting frankly, but you might find the finger pointing in the other direction. There is too much gaming in government and not enough work.
Our elected officials are trying to keep their jobs, perks and status not to protect the people. For the most part this occurs on both sides though more prevelent on left as demonstrated when one looks at the cities and states that have been most corrupted by government leaders. Look it up. These politicians become our future federal leader.
To much garbage is being thrown by both sides. The garbage against Trump is just the latest, but we have to remember the press veers sharply leftward.
Oh, here I come to ruin Betty Kath’s day! IT AIN”T AGAINST THE LAW! Straight from the FEC website, a foreign national can legally perform volunteer services for a campaign! Bye bye the whole :things of value” argument:
Now, if you are honest Betty K, you will apologize to Don Jr., and you will quit spreading lies and falsehoods.

Hillary already destroyed Libya in 2011. It’s been in a state of chaos ever since.
Yes, and if I remember properly, the Libyans have agreed to Russian bases being built on their land. After all, all the Libyan people had to do was to look up and see the US, French, and UK planes destroying their country, the former highest-standard of living state in Africa (and I won’t dwell on Clinton’s gang of neo nazis who executed a sitting head of state on the end of a bayonet… where’s the law there, lefties????).
Now we announce that we are going back into Libya? Hmmmmm. It will be interesting to see if the yuge but fragile ego of Trump will respond by doubling-down on the Russians. But the left can rest assured that if all goes poorly in the near future, they were indeed key players.
I may be somewhat of a person of want at times, but even I think already spending 50 years of cold war was enough.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Abraham Lincoln”
I think there is a view on the right that the Democratic party is a far worse adversary than the Russians or any other foreign power.
It’s called having a classical liberal worldview or constitutional worldview. We don’t view government in terms of party but rather their fidelity to the underlying principles that gave them existence. This worldview prevents the myopia inherent in allegiance to party politics. We see adversaries to our natural rights coming from both foreign and domestic interests.
So how does a foreign power threaten us? Obviously by an actual threat of hostile military action. More dangerous than that though is by influencing our political class to do what they swore an oath not to do. This is where worldviews matter. You want the rule of law to be supreme? Then that has to be your worldview. If you want your party to be supreme, then hold that worldview. But you cannot have both.
So no, our greatest threat will not come from a foreign adversary. It will come from within, to subvert the very rule of law our political class swore to support and defend.
Fusion GPS co-founder to testify before Senate Judiciary panel

Fusion GPS was working for Comey
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/05/04/comey-refuses-publicly-address-fbi-ties-peeing-russian-prostitutes-dossier/
Thanks for posting this, Anonemouse.
Steele and Fusion GPS have been stonewalling investigators.
It remains to be seem if Simpson, the Fusion exec, will show up.
Or if he’ll take the 5th.
Whatever happens, I don’t see this getting much coverage by the media.
They are “stuck on” another story, and have had very little interest in covering the issue of who paid Steele and Fusion for the Russian dossier.
Anonymouse,…
The Senate Judiciary Committee had a hard time obtaining information from Comey about Fusion GPS.
Especially Sen. Grassley, who had sent questions to Comey and was still waiting for answers two months later.
Here’s an exerpt from Comey’s last Senate appearance ( early May, about a week before he was fired.
Sen. Graham: Are you familiar with Fusion?
Dir. Comey: I know the name.
Graham: Are they part of the Russian intelligence apparatus?
Comey: I can’t say
Graham: Do you agree with me that if Fusion was involved in preparing a dossier agains Donald Trump, that would be interfering in our election by the Russians?
Comey: I don’t want to say.
Exactly. I guess the democrats have been trying to bolster their “bait & switch” tactics with lots of malicious posts containing soundbites that are largely commentary. It’s apparent HRC has broken many laws, maybe it’s time to get back to those. Good luck fighting the complicit media. They make 70s-80s Pravada look amateurish compared to what is going on in the media today. Heck, even Bob Woodward has called them out on it.
Too bad for us these commenters can’t be critical of Trump’s foreign policy reversals. But then again, they would have to be critical of the 29,000+ bombs Obama dropped on people of color outside the borders of the US. And it seems that’s A-OK to kill them where they live, as long as you can let them in here. ?????

“Russians do not usually set up meetings at places like Trump Tower ”
That says it all.
The is a Russian crime rings that operates out of Trump Tower.
“The is a Russian crime rings that operates out of Trump Tower.”
frankly, once again you demonstrate your lack of intellect.
http://www.haaretz.com/us-news/.premium-1.779006 “The FBI did wiretap Trump Tower, but its target was not the future president of the United States and the operation was over well before Donald Trump even declared his candidacy. Instead, the bureau was listening in on a Russian crime organization that worked out of offices on the building’s 63rd floor, just three stories below Trump’s penthouse. As reported by ABC News on Tuesday, the FBI had the building under surveillance, including electronic monitoring, from 2011 to 2013. The investigation led to the indictment of Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov, who is wanted by Interpol and on the lam in Russia, and 33 individuals suspected of working for him.

“The FBI did wiretap Trump Tower, but its target was not the future president of the United States ”
Forgive me. You should have explained that the topic was changing a bit. We were talking about the President of the US along with his family and this wire tap has nothing to do with him or them.
You constantly obfuscate the discussion and the facts causing you to draw the wrong conclusions. I expect later on when the context of your comment is forgotten to hear Lousie saying the Trumps are guilty and the wiretaps in Trump Tower prove that to be true.
The lines are blurred in Trump’s kakistocracy.
“The lines are blurred in Trump’s kakistocracy.”
Back to the past lunacy. Put your glasses back on.
Lousie?
frankly, my middle finger appears slower than the other finger 🙂 Type it out.
Both Mueller and the Trump family have hired attorneys that specialize in mob activities. Why is that?
“Both Mueller and the Trump family have hired attorneys that specialize in mob activities. Why is that?
Probably because you guys are wrongfully claiming conspiracy. One wouldn’t hire an estate attorney for that type of charge.
Allan
🙂
So I made a typo typing from my phone with no glasses. Now on laptop and can provide links.:)
