HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE!!!

Tonight we will ring in 2018 at home in McLean, Virginia with my in-laws from North Carolina.  New Year’s eve is also my wedding anniversary. Twenty years ago,  Leslie and I decided to walk across the street in Old Town Alexandria and get married.  Since we dated for eight years, I count the anniversary as our 28th while Leslie insists on counting this year as our 20th anniversary.  We will toast our anniversary and the New Year (as we did 20 years ago) with a bottle of Schramsburg Cremant.

This year will ring in without one tradition . . . and it is an improvement.  I have previously complained about the unfunny and often raunchy performance of Kathy Griffin on CNN.  After Griffin’s disgusting image of a beheaded Donald Trump and then her bizarre press conference with Lisa Bloom, Griffin has been dumped by Anderson Cooper and CNN.  She has posted a rather bizarre videotape which again blames everyone but herself and says that no one has ever faced the type of blacklisting that she is now facing:

I expect that much of the problem in finding work as a comedian is the distinct absence of anything funny in these videotapes — or Griffin’s continued controversies with neighbors and others.

I have previously admitted that I have a low tolerance for raunchy sex skits and jokes on New Year’s Eve shows.  I can be viewed as a bit prudish on such issues (my Midwestern roots no doubt) but many kids stay up to watch the ball drop in New York.  I have previously had to turn off CNN because my kids were watching with me.

Tonight will set some records for cold and I will happily (as usual) remain in my toasty warm house with the family.  Tomorrow we will be making our traditional soup for New Year’s and I will post our annual “State of the Blog” column.  Until then, have a fun and safe (and warm) New Year’s Eve!

  1. Here’s a fascinating legal story that you won’t see in Jon Turley’s blog because: (1) it exposes the criminal Leftist agenda to shut down free speech; (2) it demonstrates the Deep State’s illegal actions taken against those who hold anti-Leftist viewpoints; (3) it demonstrates the Deep State’s protection of Muslims (but not non-Muslims) for alleged hate speech; and (4) it demonstrates the inherent corruption of the legal system.

The case involves Mark Feigin, who is half Jew / half Catholic, rides a Harley Davidson, owns several guns, and who recognizes the dangers that Islam presents to civilized people. So, according to the Leftist Deep State (which includes the criminal Los Angeles Police Department and the Corrupt California Court System and its Corrupt Judges).

Feigin has been accused of two things: (1) making several phone calls threatening the lives of Muslims; and (2) posting online Facebook messages that are violation of an absurd California law, Cal. Penal Code § 653m(b) that states that “every person who, with intent to annoy or harass, makes repeated telephone calls or makes repeated contact by means of an electronic communication device … to another person is … guilty of a misdemeanor.”
    See: leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=PEN&sectionNum=653m.

But the fact is that Feigin NEVER made the threatening phone calls that he was accused of. The threatening phone calls were actually made by Michael Slawson, the SON OF A LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE JOHN A. SLAWSON, a Democrat appointed by Leftist Gov. Jerry Brown. ballotpedia.org/John_A._Slawson.

But does Leftist Kamala Harris and her Leftist team of prosecutors drop the charges against Feigin or go after Michael Slawson. NO, THEY DON’T. Such is to be expected of Islamocommunazis.

Even CNN, the beacon of Leftist media, has to admit that something seems amiss here, as noted in their story here: https://www.cnn.com/2017/09/29/us/hate-crime-prosecution-invs/index.html.

But for the real story, you have to go to real investigative journalists, like Laura Loomer. For that, you can hear the real facts behind this fascinating case.

  2. Thanks for all your great nonpartisan, informative commentary in 2017. I always listen when you are on. Wishing a great 2018 to you and your family. Look forward to hearing you in the new year, many times 😀

    1. “Nonpartisan?” Surely, you jest. Jonathan Turley has been called many things. But “nonpartisan” has never been one of them. At least, not by any informed people.

    1. Darren Smith – what is The Mayor of Zero F**ksville? BTW, she also went from hundreds to thousands of people in the audience. I think we would want a fire marshall count on these places she is performing. 😉

  3. For 2018 some folks need to made some changes in behavior to stay alive. Opiodes? Tobacco?
If so, get off them. If your parents smoke tobacco then don’t take much advice on life from them.

  4. The Kathy Griffin backlash was one of many encouraging signs of a retreat from hedonistic individualism toward civility and responsibility. The collapse of Weinstein, Louis CK, Lauer, Moore, Rose and Franken is part of this larger pattern. Norms and standards of social conformity are making a comeback. The term “techlash” was heard on Fareed Zakaria GPS this morning, more backlash against Silicon Valley’s mindless fueling of hedonistic individualism, and amplification of clinically-depressed voices. This can’t come fast enough, as America’s global image as exporter of an almost cancerous cultural experiment will take some time to repair. The “swatting” incident on Friday shows hedonism at its worst. Oh, and JT’s blog site comes alive this year as a venue for the new, civilized, productive dialog (while Politico, The Hill and others drown in snarky, fact-free, identity-polemic put-downs).

    Res ipsa loquitur! Happy 2018.

    1. Does seem to be something in the air corralling the herd back to standards of decency. Let’s hope for a more sane 2018 and the abolition of the nonsense of the Pronoun Debate, Enabling Transgender Dysfunction and Open Borders. We can do better.

  5. Anderson Cooper will be jockeying around with some gay guy in CNN. Jeso. The World has done to hell. And CNN blames the Donald.

Anderson Cooper: Bent, bent, bo bent. Bananna fanna fo vent. Fee fi most bent. BENT!

  6. See you all on the other side. Thanks for everyone’s patience and wonderful contributions to some great arguments.
Please put my vote for most missed banned commentator as DSS.
    Ciao!

  7. Isn’t Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party (network T.V.) most watched by celebratory midwesterners?

Claiming to tune into CNN to ring in festive end-of-year holidays or, an opportunity to gloat about Griffin’s comeuppance and to remind readers about her infamous picture?

Paul and Olly’s sentiments appreciated and returned.

  8. Happy New Year, JT and all your family. Happy New Year to everyone on the blog.
