Charles Ludington, a college friend of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, released a statement that directly contradicted the testimony of the judge on this drinking in college. Ludington told The Washington Post that he gave a statement to the FBI that Kavanaugh was “belligerent and aggressive” as a drunk in college and once threw a beer in the face of someone who insulted him. He is the third college friend who described Kavanaugh as a belligerent drinker in college.
Ludington is an associate professor at North Carolina State University and stated that “When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent and aggressive. On one of the last occasions I purposely socialized with Brett, I witnessed him respond to a semi-hostile remark, not by defusing the situation, but by throwing his beer in the man’s face and starting a fight that ended with one of our mutual friends in jail.”
Former classmates Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher have also given accounts similar to Ludington’s statement.
Ludington has taught at North Carolina State University since 2004 and, according to his bio on the university’s website, Ludington specializes in northern European history. He has also taught at the Marie Curie Senior Research Fellow at University College Cork and the Universite de Bordeaux-Michel Montaigne in France.
Ludington earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale in 1987 and a Doctor of Philosophy and History in 2003 from Columbia University.
He also played basketball for Yale and briefly played professionally in Europe in Paris and Spain. He has published two books: The Politics of Wine in Britain: A New Cultural History (2013) and A Long Shadow: The Story of an Ulster-Irish Family (2016).
The drinking question could be deemed relevant in two ways. It could taken as reaffirming the description of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. It could also be taken as evidence of perjury by Kavanaugh who denied such excessive drinking. The latter raises a tough question on the use of such an issue as drinking in college should be determinative in a Supreme Court confirmation. Clearly perjury is perjury but these are matters of opinions on how Kavanaugh acted as a college student when drunk.
What do you think?
Thanks for the fantasy. It’s been an education. I do extend my sympathy to anyone who has to contend with you in meatspace.
Talking to yourself again, TP? (@Tabarrok…Pillory)
So now it’s morphed from Kavanaugh was sure to be voted in, to he shouldn’t be voted in because he drank in college? What about goofy high school jokes as a teenager?
How can the Democrats be so Puritanical with a straight face?
He never said he had never been drunk. In fact, he said he “loved beer.” He said he never had blackouts or gaps in his memory.
The overwhelming majority of guys in college drank. I went to parties in college, and all the guys seemed to be drinking. People got drunk, but it wasn’t considered excessive unless they were an alcoholic or blacking out. Sometimes, guys got into fights. That was true in high school all through college.
I have no idea what the alleged fist fight with a 18-21 year old Kavanaugh was about, and I don’t care. I. Do. Not. Care. I don’t care about his high school humor. I don’t care about his high school jokes. I don’t care if he ever got into a fight with another guy. I don’t care about his high school fart jokes. I don’t care about the stars he doodled on his calendar.
What I care about is if he broke the law, has some sort of addiction, and is qualified to be on the Supreme Court. No. No. Yes.
We don’t get to choose who our bestest, most favorite person on the Supreme Court is. The President does. Democrats don’t get to insist on a Democratic nominee. Republicans in Congress cannot insist that they get to choose the nominee. The President does. As long as he or she is qualified, and not a complete hack, then they vote him in, bipartisan, each party for the other’s pick. That’s how it’s always been. Ginsberg and Sotomayor have their vaunted seat because Republicans helped put them there. Shall that change?
Honestly, why cannot we heel-toe it through one single thing without getting political and divisive? Such an accusation as Ford’s would never have been considered years before. There is no supporting evidence. Evidence contradicts her testimony. She changed her story multiple times. Lied about this deathly fear of flying preventing her cooperation. Enough already. Stop the political warfare and move on, or the Dems will have slashed and burned all hope of ever working across the aisle.
If there was credible evidence against him (brought forth the moment it was received in an honest and forthright fashion), I would have been perfectly content to skip him and move on to another. I had no attachment to him and knew nothing of him, not being a lawyer. The evidence exonerates him if you are fair and just. Persecuting him is unjust. That is my attachment to his nomination now.
Majorities change continuously. At some point, the Democrats might need Republicans to work with them and compromise. They might come to regret it if they destroy relations for generations, and a firm reputation as being untrustworthy. That little stunt of hiding this information ever since July will not be forgotten.
I also do not care if Ford drank a lot in high school and college. If she smoked pot. If she partied a lot in high school and college. If she made silly jokes in high school. Or any other stupid thing that is irrelevant to their position in society as adults.
they have destroyed it and the Republicans only need to wake up and smell the coffee.
now is the time to be strong and aggressive because demographic trends are not promising for the Republicans.
reason does not matter too much in what may soon descend into an unexpectedly fast moving tribal conflict from east to west, these days, a regional conflict between coasts and heartland, as real as the Civil war was between North and South
by the ancient laws of combat, it’s right around the corner

There is a police report involved with this account. He is saying that Brett started an altercation which ended in jail time for a friend. That’s evidence which can be found. I hope someone is looking into that.
Brett clearly seems to be lying in the present about his past. Grassley is screaming that anyone who lies to Congress should go to jail. Well, Grassley, are you going to enforce that?
This whole investigation is such a freaking farce. The WH is limiting it to 4 people. Other people who are trying to give relevant testimony are being run around by the FBI. Congress doesn’t want to know the truth. Apparently, they want fig leaves for their vote. That’s not going to work for a whole lot of people in our nation. Democrats are using Russiagate, Republicans are using Brett to tear down this nation. We need what few people of honor are left in this “government” to step forward. We need a full investigation to include Brett’s current apparent lies to Congress and the American people.
The deep state seems to have a lot of desire for Brett and it looks like they intend to ram him through at any cost. While they are busy with their evil plans for the destruction of our nation, I believe there is some hope in people power, although people will need to make certain they are not captured by political parties but instead act for the common good. Here is the hope I do see: One of the most important aspects of this hearing is being largely ignored. There was mass, peaceful protest in the halls of the powerful. People were occupying the space of injustice and confronting the powerful as they attempted to commit injustice. We out number these corrupt, evil people. They weren’t prepared for this. This was what the real fight for civil rights and justice looks like. This is what power of the people, for the people looks like.
We can be certain the police state will be ready this next time. It is after all, the military and police’s job to protect the interests of the powerful, both at home and abroad. I hope people understand this. Whatever party is asking for your vote, they will not save you from the police state. They are part of the powerful. Therefore, we should look to each other and mass protest. It must be peaceful and the more massive it can be the better.
This is a civil rights awakening. The hatred of women is showing itself as never before. That is a good thing because that hatred can no longer be easily denied. It can now be confronted by brave people who want justice in our society. This isn’t about voting, it’s not about a political party. It is about justice and equality for all people. Keep it peaceful and keep it going.
Another teammate, Chris Dudley, has already refuted Ludington’s account. And Ludington is a Democrat who has contributed money to eh party. Do you believe every allegation made by everybody?
Did you even read my comment? There is a police report involved. That’s not a he said/he said moment any longer. Do you favor gathering information before believing things?
Fine, read the police report. Recall that even in Luddington’s telling, Kavanaugh was not detained.
i read it. you said that the trespassers harassing senators were confronting injustice. just seem like obnoxious harridans to me. sorry
(sorry, “the”)
“There is a police report involved with this account. He is saying that Brett started an altercation which ended in jail time for a friend.” Jail time for a friend, NOT Kavanaugh. That means the other guy did something wrong, was tried, and convicted. Convicted in a court of law. Found to be wrong by a jury of his peers. NOT KAVANAUGH.
People who blame one guy, because another guy went to jail, are not putting the blame squarely where it belongs.
Karen, Have you read the report? It’s going to go directly to what preceded this incident. That would be Brett’s actions.
There was an altercation and the police showed up. The police interviewed those involved and any witnesses who were present. The police decided “the friend” was the more culpuble party, arrested him, and hauled him off to jail. That pretty much ends it. Nobody is going to second guess the cops after all these years. Plus, some college-age drunken dispute is irrelevant. The Blasey-Ford allegation is serious. This is frivolous.
It would be frivolous had Kavanaugh not denied ever having blacked out due to excessive drinking because he had never “passed out”–meaning he never lost consciousness–as a result of excessive drinking. Blackouts are mostly memory losses. They can be complete en bloc amnesia or fragmentary partial amnesia. People who chug beer quickly and in excess are more likely to experience en bloc amnesia. Thus any testimony about Kavanaugh’s drinking habits during prep-school or college could corroborate those portions of the allegations against Kavanaugh. He may have to end up admitting to occasional bouts of temporary amnesia. What might happen next after that is not immediately clear. Defending oneself against a charge of lying to Congress ought not to put one in deeper legal jeopardy for a charge of sexual assault nor worse.
L4Yoga enables David Benson, R. Lien and Marky Mark Mark – there is a huge difference between chugging beers and downing shots. And there is a huge difference as to what it does to your stomach and urinary system.
“There was mass, peaceful protest in the halls of the powerful. People were occupying the space of injustice and confronting the powerful as they attempted to commit injustice. We out number these corrupt, evil people. They weren’t prepared for this. This was what the real fight for civil rights and justice looks like. This is what power of the people, for the people looks like.”
No, Jill, this is what ignorance and bigotry looks like. In a he said, she said case, claiming that a woman is right for no other reason than she is a woman is gender bias. Ignoring exculpatory evidence is either ignorant or malicious. Applauding convicting a person in the court of public opinion in spite of exculpatory evidence, and literally zero supporting evidence, because it suits you politically is unjust. It is truly black irony that Yale law students would turn out en masse when there was zero supporting evidence and a preponderance of exculpatory evidence of their own alumni. What fools. And they are supposed to go into the law profession?
This isn’t speaking truth to power. It’s just another unjust revolution trying to fight against democracy, in the struggle to install a single party dictatorship that the Liberal elite believe will be benign and benefit them. If only they had the power to dictate to the stupid masses what’s good for them. They swear, they would be benign this time. Republicans are evil and Democrats are good, so it’s for the good of the country to suspend critical reasoning and the rule of law if it hurts Republicans and helps Democrats, until finally they get their Socialist state, and we’re all starving like Venezuela. I’ll bet they’ll still blame white capitalists when we’re all destitute.
ha ha its no such thing. you dont get it. women are and have been used by Democrats all along just as they have used blacks.
I don’t blame them for it; i admire them. I admire every successful organization, even malicious and unethical ones. I am a student of social organization. Democrats for a century have been better organized than Republicans. FDR, LBJ, lions of successful political organizing. Bill and Hillary Clinton, capi de tutti capi, in our time. Masterminds!
Understand, the Democrats are about taking the chips on the table and playing them to win. Their use of ideology is totally facile. Meaning, extremely hypocritical if need be, yet without hesitation. You ask why they back the malicious cad and alleged rapist Bill Clinton? because he was a winner, that’s why! DUH ideology is just a brand name to rally troops and he was a marketing genius and business boss of the first order. Hillary became a boss too in her own right, eventually.
They do not care at all about “Victims.” They used Ford, they used anita hill. Thye used Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe). They use everybody; they are master manipulators. Their focus is on immediate tactical and strategic objectives.
Winning is the goal; and if not winning than whining. Whatever works to generate more fundraising. Because the fundraising is what pushes the tanks forward, it is the gasoline in the machine’s engines.
That’s why Hillary had a lock on the DNC and Bernie was easily shoved aside. Hillary brought in the big money and Bernie very little by comparison. Maybe Bernie could have won, but not a win that the donors would have liked.
Understanding capitalism is key to success in America. The irony is that the party that praises it, the Republicans, understands it less well than Democrats. It is not really about free enterprise. That is a subordinate feature of capitalism. The bigger features of capitalism involve finance and how private capital operates now in this day and time. The aspects that Marxists critiqued are the very things that provide perennial insight today. Things that Republicans and their constant whining about Marxism fail to grasp. But, the Dems understand it profoundly and the Reps often come up short, habitually, educationally, and culturally.
Which is why partly Dems get so much money from banks year after year.
It’s not coincidence that DJT is a violater of dogmatically free market ideas with his trade wars. In this he is a true nationalist and not a friend of the capitalist in the way that Bill Clinton the signer of NAFTA proved to be.
The working class base of the Democrats has been for decades squarely betrayed by them. Occasionally the working class finds a Republican who can speak with their interests sincerely at heart and that is Trump.
Silicon valley hates Trump too. they are the new rich among the capitalists of our day. They are globalists and don’t want to antagonize the Chinese for a lot of complicated reasons. Most of which have to do with business. The short term conflict with China is IP; but the long term payoff is in monopolistic profits to be gained in a union with the Silicon Valley types in China.
Without globalism reducing national barriers to trade, Silicon Valley can only conquest America. They are even restrained in the EU. Long term they can go from fantastic billionaires to even more if they can penetrate China.
Trump and his trade wars stand in their way.
You would need to read something by Lenin that I have recommended before
“Imperialism as a Late Stage of Capitalism” to get a grip on how the internecine conflicts between capitalists work, but, Republicans don’t read such things so they remain limited in their perspectives.
Dems know no such self-limiting tastes.
First thing that comes to mind is whether there’s a motive to make something up here — especially to concoct more completely nondisconfirmable allegations of the Blasey-Ford type. Shouldn’t that be a part of any story broadcasting the allegations?
Publication is weight. Publication of accusations that can’t be disproved, that are potentially life-destroying, and that alter the course of a SCOTUS nomination and therefore the nation’s jurisprudence (which were a result of a legal election, not incidentally), is just abominable.
We can do this “extend the time and see how many other people will say nondisconfirmable negative things about Kavanaugh” thing for as long as Democrats are allowed to do it.
That’s in addition to the fact that the goalposts are moving. And also the fact that if you can be considered guilty of sexual assault because, hey, drinking was part of those unprovable allegations, so here’s somebody saying you drank too much, so maybe you’re a sex criminal too, then maybe we’re just going to slide back into that ’80s-’90s sex-abuse-hysteria mentality, where “consistent with” was considered proof, and where so many lives were inalterably destroyed by false accusations.
Apparently we’ve learned nothing from history if we allow the Kavanaugh Hearing to become the new standard for judging guilt and innocence. Democrats are taking a page from the Salem Witchcraft trials 1692-1693…..the accused were victims of mob mentality, mass hysteria and scapegoating how is this any different from what we are seeing play out in the Senate Judicial Hearing of Judge Kavanaugh? Just as in the Salem Witchcraft trials once the accusations started they quickly gained momentum….and the innocent railroaded. What son, husband or man is immune from false and scurrilous accusations in this toxic and one sided environment?
So the FBI investigated allegations of witchcraft in Salem? Thanks for your enlightening post.
Well what is lying… it’s perjury. Not to mention all the lies about the meaning of yearbook messages. This guy is just too divisive. Why not get Trump’s sister to pick someone. She picked Gorsuch and he’s fine. Kavanaugh will be another outrageous liar like Thomas and Thomas has been so blemished by his confirmation that he never even has the courage to speak or ask a question == something SC Judges ALWAYS do.
If this “guy” is “divisive,” anybody is going to be divisive. Because it’s not the guy. It’s the complete inability of the idiotic public to have any idea what it’s talking about or thinking about with regard to allegations of this type. Dems are doing this because they know it works with the all-tabloid media and with ignorant people. Period.
Perjury is a strong word Lois when it is based on your speculation about what Kavanaugh’s 16-year old inside jokes with his buddies meant. Secondarily, an element of perjury is materiality. Do you really think what Judge Kavanaugh meant when at age 16 he wrote ‘boof” or ‘devils triangle’ or ‘Mary’s alumnus’ or FFF-forth of July’ by way of inside jokes with his friends is material to the confirmation hearing?
I give you an “F” in criminal law!
And an “F” in Evidence as well!
This guy is just too divisive.
It’s likely you wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a lineup let alone have any opinion about his judicial record prior to this process.
He’s divisive all right; he defends the constitution, rule of law and he does not support the unaccountable administrative state. That’s why progressives are now looking into his mom’s womb to see if he kicked too much during her pregnancy to prove he has no respect for women.
The good professor is a democrat and a donor to Act Blue, an online funnel for Democratic candidates. Second, Kavanaugh did not say he did not get drunk in college. He testified that he never got so drunk he could not recall and that he always treated women with respect.
Therefore, unless he threw a beer in the face of a woman, he did not testify contrary to the Act Blue donor who volunteered his 32 year old recollections to the FBI about Kavanaugh’s Yale drinking “as a good citizen”.
Source for the Act Blue thing, and any other evidence of bias? I’m looking into it myself.
If they can go back 35 years to check on parties drinking etc as a kid then 98% of the candidates would be ineligible. No one would put in for these positions. Besides it’s a he said he said. If is a political foe how can we know they aren’t lying.
Just because they say it doesn’t make it so & that includes Mrs. Ford. On the first day she had $500,000.00 in a go fund me account & that was just one. There’s no way to know who is contributing to these funds. Mrs Ford could become a millionaire just for testifying. That’s a pretty good reason to lie.
That is why any Democrat who feels strongly that Kavanaugh should not be confirmed for political reasons can say whatever they want to the FBI about what happened 32-35 years ago without fear of false statements prosecution. All of this last minute character assassination by Democrats is highly suspicious and should be disregarded.
Cuba, Venezuela, N. Korea….we are now them…..yet just morbidly obese.
“we are now them… yet just morbidly obese” can not write a coherent sentence but believes he is capable of reasoning, SAD!
Kavanaugh said there were times he had too much to drink
“Belligerent” is that not an opinion?
And while we’re on the subject of “drinking”
How about we investigate Ford’s drinking not only on the night in question but during her High School and College days
Rumor has it Ford was quite the go to “party girl”
stop blaming the victim! a woman is entitled to be drunken and even lascivious and suffer no consequences. indeed, they are just “exercising their own agency” in femspeak
until they get hurt; then the Nanny State must step in
sometimes they are hurt and then the Nanny State is only called on 35 years later.
but stop blaming the victim! Ford’s the victim of this circus, can’t you see?
Because Kav is representative of “the patriarchy” and no low blow is off-limits in this incipient civil war
You assume she is a victim. As a woman who has been raped, I am offended by women who lie (I’ve met them) and act all hurt when they make a decision to drink and rub themselves against males and then pretend like they are a ‘victim’. Victim of what? So you have decided the boys are always wrong. Stop blaming men for every mentally unbalanced or politically motivated woman.
desert girl – Kurtz was being sarcastic.
she doesnt know me. she thinks I am “progressive”
Ford’s yearbook page (quickly scrubbed from the internet when she came forward) reportedly features pictures of beer bottles and the comment “beer and boys”.
OMG!!!
No matter how hard they try, they just can’t fool TIN with reports about the supposed content purportedly scrubbed from a Facebook page.
hocuspocus13 – according to her high school yearbooks she could have been suffering from alcoholic blackouts.
TIN says: October 2, 2018 at 12:35 AM
OMG!!!
The week delay was for the purpose of allowing time for statements such as this. The FBI investigation is window dressing. The real purpose is to provide time for further accusations.
Exactly. They want people to build the nerve up who are willing to lie and exaggerate. The hateful coming out of the woodwork. At this point none of them are credible.
Fortunately, there are 51 votes to confirm. Additionally, Republican pollster Frank Luntz believes that the longer the confirmation drags on to November the more it will motivate a red wave.
As I said last week by Friday after the FBI follow up investigation the Dems will resist further with additional demands and complaints. The Dems to a man said they would never vote for this man before there were allegations and they meant it. The real problem is the GOP inability to fight the Dems just as hard to a man. The GOP just doesn’t get it, all the metoo’ers, pink hat’s and all the others will never vote for them no matter what they do. Vote this man in just like the Dems ignore the Ellison allegations.
There’s a difference between an FBI investigation and the media being able to find someone willing to say mean things about a person or Hollywood personalities will to flatter each other’s sensibilities with lazy SNL skits.
I don’t think drinking in college is disqualifying for a man with a flawless career. College and high school behavior is irrelevant as long as they have not broken the law. And he did not. And his so-called friend is a backstabbing louse.
Opinion? Seems as if specific verifiable facts are being alleged.
Verifiable? No
If Kavanaugh were a liberal, none of this would matter. The MSM would be telling us nonstop that these events are unimportant because: (1) there is no corroborating evidence, (2) they happened a long time ago, and (3) even if true, they are relatively minor and would not affect his performance on the court. The left never cared about Bill Clinton’s or Ted Kennedy’s alleged treatment of women.
antonio
Or Keith Ellison, Cory Booker to name two presently on government payroll.
I’d think the cat ladies were taking us on the road back to Prohibition if I didn’t know they were so dependent on box wine.
+10
Kavanaugh seems to have known a lot of terrible people at Yale. Or maybe he wasn’t too particular about who he socialized with. His roommate “Roche” didn’t like him, and seems to have waited 30 years to stab him in the back. And now this guy. Does he just want to be the Center of attention? Or will attacking Kavanauagh get him bonus points with his bosses at NC University? You make the call.
Ted Cruz also had a lousy roommate. The man’s a screenwriter in Hollywood who didn’t quite realize that people who make up stories for a living aren’t the most credible accusers. The schmuck also didn’t realize that people who are motivated 25 years after the fact by banal social friction in college dorms are, well, schmucks. You and I know that, but that fellow Maizin didn’t.
OK, I don’t think the mere fact that someone is a Hollywood screenwriter (i.e. someone “who make[s] up stories for a living”) means that they can’t be a credible accuser. They may (or may not) harbor the usual Hollywood biases and they may in fact just be liars. But the insinuation that the mere fact that someone is a screenwriter he must not be a credible accuser is, shall we say, not particularly credible.
JAY, he invents things for a living. Yes, that causes people to think that the stories he tells might just be…inventions.
Ted Cruz is a terrible person, and was likely a terrible roommate as an undergrad. He was widely disliked at Harvard Law for his haughty demeanor, but is now licking Trump’s boots despite Trump’s insulting his wife before the election. Only people like Ted Cruz – – unctuous, self-righteous, right wing, fat cats — like Ted Cruz.
Ted Cruz is a terrible person,
Ted Cruz is a perfectly functional adult who took a bath financially in order to run for Congress. He has no sexual, financial, or professional, financial scandals adhering to him, has been married to his 1st and only wife for 17 years, and has two children. He’s not known to be on bad terms with any of his relatives and his mother and his father (though divorced from each other) both worked for his campaign and made appearances on his behalf. He hasn’t left a string of broken friendships behind him.
—
One thing about the younger generation of partisan Democrats is their habit of gleichshaltung. Every subsidiary in life is just a venue subjected to the logic of political conflict. Ted Cruz favors x, y, and z public policy and got under some liberal’s skin at Princeton, ergo he is a ‘terrible person’. People who think this way are arrested development cases, and not to be taken seriously.
oh they’re to be taken seriously alright
Concept of the Political by Carl Schmitt wiki entry
For Schmitt, the political is reducible to the existential distinction between friend and enemy. [2] Schmitt attacks the “liberal-neutralist” and “utopian” notions that politics can be removed of all warlike, agonistic energy, arguing conflict existed as embedded in existence itself, likewise constituting an ineradicable trait of anthropological human nature. Schmitt attempts to substantiate his ideas by referencing the declared anthropological pessimism of “realistic” Catholic (and Christian) theology. The anti-perfectibilist pessimism of Traditional Catholic theology Schmitt considers esoterically relevant to the inner ontological being of politics and political activity in the contemporary world, modern people subconsciously secularizing theological intellectual ideas and concerns. Schmitt criticizes political “radicals” as basically ignorant, deluded, pseudo-messianic in mentality, and oblivious to the stark, hard knowledge of unveiled human nature, its esse, encoded in ancient theology, wherein Original Sin held central, axial place, intertwining his own ideas of meta-politics with a reformulated “metaphysics of evil”.[3]
Publication history
The Concept of the Political was first published in 1932 by Duncker & Humblot (Munich). It was an elaboration of a journal article of the same title, published in 1927.[1] The 1932 version has significant, and controversial, revisions. However, it is likely that these revisions were made in response to the reaction of Leo Strauss.[3]
you used the correct word for it.
people may not recognize this as the nazi term for the totalitarian synchronization of all things in their place and time to their political world view
that is something they took from Marxist-Leninism
it subsists in this conflict today very much
your error was in saying that “they should not be taken seriously”
on the contrary it is the failure of Republicans and conservatives to take that seriously which constantly requires them to fail.
they lack sufficient mobilization of their sources of social support.
that is how Democrats can command a numerical minority but make it leveraged into an apparent majority.
Definitely a majority of unemployed and overheated social “activists”
until the socalled American right develops its own version of
gleichshaltung.
they will keep on failing.
actually this is one of the bright points of Trumpism. It is a compelling feeling shared by people which allows them to coordinate themselves. it gives hope for survival and success.
I Feel Grassley is a genius for letting this circus happen. It will accelerate the growth process of the pro Trump forces.
who must realize their own gleichshaltung is their best hope now, not moderation, not appeasement, but forceful, vigorous, contentious aggressive belligerence from top to bottom: “resistance” which is what the Dems have capably brought against them.
those who fail to step it up a notch will always fail in this kind of conflict. one suspects the Republicans may be growing some nerve, possibly coming along with DJT, and becoming willing to succeed?
yesterday was the Chinese national day.
Before Mao and the communists triumphed in the civil war, 70 years ago, they were hunted like dogs across the country in a “Long March” in which Mao’s forced suffered awful losses and attrition.
It was only in that crucible of resistance that they refined the alloy that would make them so strong and capable of the power that they eventually attained
understand in that day it was not the “nationalists” that were the true nationalists of the Chinese. The “nationalists” were corrupt by habit and often pawns of foreign powers. Oh, the communists got aid from the Soviets, but the Soviets had aided the KMT as well.
understand this: whatever nonsense came out of their mouth in linguistic ideological terms, the reality was this: it was actually the communists that were the true nationalists.
and it’s the Trump forces that are clearly the nationalists of today and likewise far less the pawns of globalism.
Will the globalist-Democrat alliance crush the nascent nationalism of Trumpism? Probably. but not for sure! Look at how unlikely the success of mao was.
terrifying thought, but yes this is the level of intensity that is needed to prevail.
Look at how ruthlessly Di Fi used Dr Ford. Impressive heartlessness! Ford asked for anonymity and Di FI leaked the complaint — at just the right moment.
Ford’s life is ruined. That is not Di Fi’s problem. Ford volunteered basically and Di Fi had the brass to use the ammo she gave her. That Ford would suffer, did not stop Di FI for a second! And FOrd responded to this, and she “manned up” to telling her story with all its blatant problems, with a lot of nerve and “Chutzpah”
Understand the uniform, coherent if yet false front the Dems have established. They are completely fake in their invocation of women’s rights. that matters little to this one way or another.
It is only about winning the prize: that is, in the first instance, denying the prize to Trump; and in the second instance, getting it, possibly, through victory in midterms.
Their focus on the objective is admirable. Their ruthless coordination to gain victory is impressive. Their cunning use of “women who are victims of assault” shows a level of willpower and resolve that transcends the obvious hypocrisy of it.
Remember Marlon brando’s speech, think about what the Dems have done in that light
“…I remember when I was with Special Forces. Seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate the children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn’t see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile: a pile of little arms. And I remember I…I…I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized, like I was shot — like I was shot with a diamond…a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God, the genius of that. The genius! The will to do that: perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we, because they could stand it. These were not monsters. These were men, trained cadres — these men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who have children, who are filled with love — but they had the strength — the strength! — to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling, without passion, without judgment. Without judgment! Because it’s judgment that defeats us.”
it is the JUDGMENT of Republicans that consistently defeats them, Their petty moralizing stops them short of victory. The Democrats know no such restraints.
That’s why a reformed democrat named Donald J Trump leads the way to victory! He has the instincts of a strong, social minded democrat partisan instead of the hesitancy of a conservative.
You sound like someone who can’t make up their mind if they love totalitarians or fascists.
Lot of rambling and nothing to do with subject at hand. Biased progressive are you.
it’s ok, you just don’t see it. you are stuck in ideological stereotypes like whatever you mean by “progressive”
that is what has nothing to do with this. progressivism, is incoherent. organization of the Democratic by the will to power, and absolutely dishonest and ruthless means and ends, is very coherent, by contrast.
coming in a close second to incoherence, is conservatism in America. what does it espouse, exactly? My conservatism goes back before 1776 which is when the liberal experiment that is America got its start. But I’m a nobody, dont worry about me.
that’s why progressives don’t run the Dem party. they’re incoherent and thus not powerful. Bernie, lost, Hillary, won the leadership of that party with ease. She is not even close to whatever is meant by “progressive.”
Yale is loaded with libs. He should have kept to himself.
for sure any professor will get huge bonus points for attacking Kav
the Republican perfesser types I know– very few but they exist– are afraid to even say the name TRUMP let alone praise him or admit they like him
wake up people: in a country where universities and news rooms are all run by the likes of Di Fi and Chuck Shumer, you will NEVER hold an advantage in anything that goes on TV
keep it off tv, move the fights into the real world, and make them as physical as possible. there is one place where Normal People will hold an advantage in a civil war and it is in the streets.
Not on day one when the crazies burn and loot and kick things off, but on day 7 when the crazies are exhausted and begin to starve and the organized counter attack really begins.
the first people the crazy lumpen shock troops will eat up, once order collapses in the big cities and they are feeling their wild oats, will not be the hardened opposition entrenched in the suburbs and beyond, it will be the weak minded liberal sycophants in their midst, the hipsters and activists and social organizers and all the other lilly-livered enablers of today
enough talk! let the battle begin
Or maybe Kavanaugh was the terrible person at Yale. It is a subjective standard, of course.
rcocean, I go w/ the “bonus points with bosses.”
Drinking in High School?? Seriously?? We are pondering that?? FCK!
Confirmation hearings are a sham. Instead of Advise and Consent, it should be called Confirm or Convict by a body that are routinely belligerent, lie and have their own allegations of sexual misconduct.
