Democrats have (for good reason) criticized President Donald Trump for his signature campaign rally chant of “Lock her up” in referring to his then opponent Hillary Clinton.. Many of us objected to the display as obnoxious and demeaning to our political system. That objection apparently does not hold when a Democratic candidate, in this case Elizabeth Warren, is referencing Donald Trump as being locked up. Warren received the predictably wild applause to her suggestion in a campaign rally that Trump will be in prison by 2020.
The Massachusetts Senator and Democratic presidential candidate was at a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and proclaimed “By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not even be president. In fact, he may not even be a free person.” The crowd went wild. It was a painfully familiar scene.
It is of course utter nonsense. The Special Counsel’s report is now expected in March. No compelling case of obstruction or collusion-based crimes has been established against Trump. There is an allegation of campaign finance violations based on the Cohen filings. However, the Justice Department has a long-standing policy (with which I have long disagreed) that it will not indict a sitting president. Moreover, even with such a policy, the indictment of a sitting president would unlikely result in a trial, let alone incarceration, during his term. These trials are often delayed and, in the case of a president, there is a line of cases allowing considerable leeway given to a President and his schedule on such calendars for legal proceedings. In any case, the suggestion of incarceration is pure fantasy fueled by the same blind rage of the “lock her up” chants.
This type of low-grade applause line threatens to quickly take the Democratic primary from hypocrisy to demagoguery.

Its sad that Liz Warren who had some good ideas about banking reform, has descended into such a cranky old hag, between the Indian fiasco and now this. It makes me feel dumb that I ever liked her!
JT: while you can find many examples of people at Trump rallies chanting “Lock Her Up” I don’t believe you can find any example of Trump saying that. If anyone reading this had done the same things Clinton did, they would be sitting in a cell right now. So the question is: why wasn’t she locked up?
I hope the Democrats impeach Trump. After he beats this joke of a prosecution he will be the worst nightmare the left could have ever dreamed of. Bring it on.
IMHO, there should be at least 5 strong parties in D.C.
This false dichotomy of Red and Blue states (people) is hurting the entire nation. End the duality. End the polar opposites.
In other news (old news): You don’t say, the most psychopaths are located in D.C. Does that include sociopaths too?
“Lock Trump up”
Gallop: “WASHINGTON, D.C. — Americans’ optimism about their personal finances has climbed to levels not seen in more than 16 years, with 69% now saying they expect to be financially better off “at this time next year.”.
69% expect their financial situation to improve over the next year
Optimism about finances over the next year is almost at a record-high level
50% say they are in better shape financially than a year ago
Alan, I don’t mean to nitpick. But we don’t know when that story was published. Or ‘who’ published it.
Americans are probably feeling optimistic. This has been a long expansion. It’s hard to see how much further it can go. Not that I ‘want’ a recession. I just know bull markets only run so long.
It says so right there. Gallop. If you read real news you might have seen it, but your news media denies you a lot of good news about the economy. Since it was released by Gallop yesterday and you haven’t seen it perhaps the WaPo won’t publish it in the most visible section but I can see from what you say that the WaPo continues waiting for the economy to tank. After all with all the investigations and hinderance from the left the WaPo had high hopes of a failed Presidency. That is what the Demcrats want. Look at how they reacted at the SOTU… horrid anti-American trash.
Sure it says, “Gallop”. But is Gallop a source you click to each day? Or was it a Gallop poll from a news source you follow?
The release makes no mention of any specific week the poll was conducted. Nor does it say ‘how’ the poll was conducted.
As a reader accustomed to papers like the Wa Po and N Y Times, I expect certain standards. I know what polished journalism looks like. Releases as vague as yours catch my eye for all the wrong reasons.
No one’s predicting an imminent recession. I hope we ‘never’ have one. But we always do.
“Sure it says, “Gallop”. But is Gallop a source you click to each day? Or was it a Gallop poll from a news source you follow?”
Peter, the important thing is where the information comes from. In this case it comes directly from Gallop. You like to take information from secondary and tertiary sources that state things out of context or outright lie. That is the Peter Shill way, ignorant at best, lying or libel at worst.
The date was Feb 11 2019. You can look up the rest of the details yourself. I would help you out but too many times in the past when I proved you wrong you simply ran away and sometimes even repeated your error over and over again. You have a very bad record for veracity or intellectual debate.
“As a reader accustomed to papers like the Wa Po and N Y Times, I expect certain standards. I know what polished journalism looks like.”
That is why the WaPo might not have bothered with the data from Gallop. They couldn’t spin the news the right way and spin is what you think is polished journalism. I don’t know what you do or did in your working life but I doubt it involved anything that could tax one’s intellect. Too dull, too dull.
Maybe Allan doesn’t know how to provide a link. He’s typed 200 words avoiding that easy response.
“Maybe Allan doesn’t know how to provide a link. He’s typed 200 words avoiding that easy response.”
Anon, sometimes people rely on links because they don’t really know what the links actually say. The ability to read is not just to be able to verbally reproduce the written world but also involves comprehension something that seems to be limitied in some of the folk on this blog.
If appears “lock her up” has wide application.
The New Dems in Congress, along with the Old Dems (and I do mean old) will keep Trump in the White House till 2024
Rep. Ilhan Omar Goes on Anti-Semitic Twitter Rampage; Advocacy Group Demands Apology
She accused deep-pocketed Jews of buying American politicians and retweeted a post calling Jews ‘hook nosed’
Democrats’ freshmen class of lawmakers are providing the party with a new source of passion — and a lot of headaches.
A series of tweets sent Sunday night from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) are another addition for the latter category.
The tweets began after a writer for the Intercept, Glenn Greenwald, posted a story about Rep. Kevin McCarthy “threatening punishment” of Rep. Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) “over their criticisms of Israel.” (As CNN’s Jake Tapper noted, McCarthy’s comments were actually directed at “what he sees as anti-Semitic rhetoric from Reps. Omar and Tlaib.”)
Rep. Omar responded to Greenwald’s post with, “It’s all about the Benjamins baby”:
The insinuation that Jewish interests were compelling Rep. McCarthy’s actions prompted some to ask Rep. Omar for clarification.
When a writer for the Forward asked, “Would love to know who Omar thinks is paying American politicians to be pro-Israel,” Rep. Omar responded: “AIPAC!”
As a 501(c))4), the American Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC) does not actually make contributions to politicians.
Omar later re-tweeted a Jewish writer who described himself as not generally sympathetic to Israel, but felt Rep. Omar’s attacks on Jews were akin to calling “us hook-nosed.”
Rep. Omar subsequently deleted her retweet, apparently not having realized the post was calling her anti-Semitic. However, some online captured her retweet before it was taken down:
Rep. Omar’s tweets were promptly condemned among Jewish advocacy groups. AIPAC responded: “We are proud that we are engaged in the democratic process to strengthen the US-Israel relationship. Our bipartisan efforts are reflective of American values and interests. We will not be deterred in any way by ill-informed and illegitimate attacks on this important work.”
The American Jewish Committee called her tweets “stunningly anti-Semitic.”
Her comments also drew scorn from her fellow Democrats. Rep. Max Rose (D-N.Y.) wrote, “When someone uses hateful and offensive tropes and words against people of any faith, I will not be silent. Congresswoman Omar’s statements are deeply hurtful to Jews, including myself.”
“Implying that Americans support Israel because of money alone is offensive enough,” Rose’s statement continued. “But to go a step further, and retweet someone declaring their parent at her sentiment is simply unacceptable. At a time when anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise, our leaders should not be invoking hurtful stereotypes and caricatures of Jewish people to dismiss those who support Israel.”
“In the Democratic Party — and in the United States of America — we celebrate the diversity of our people, and the God we pray to, as a strength,” he said. “The Congresswoman’s statements do not live up to that cherished ideal.”
In response to the escalating anger over her tweets, Rep. Omar said she’s the victim of “smears.” After Chelsea Clinton said “we have to call out anti-Semitic language and tropes on all sides, particularly in our elected officials and particularly now,” Rep. Omar responded:
The freshman lawmaker then began retweeting a series of people who said her comments about Jews were not anti-Semitic.
This is not Rep. Omar’s first time being accused of trafficking in anti-Semitic tropes. Before entering Congress, she wrote that Israel “hypnotized the world,” comments she later said she didn’t understand why Jews found offensive. More recently Rep. Omar used Holocaust Remembrance Day to downplay the Holocaust.
jews don’t seem too woried about another holocaust. Given the huge number of members in the chuck schumer’s jews for Another Holocaust Club who are working hard and voting democrat to take America down the same path that led their incinerated ancestors to the death camps in Nazi Germany, they look like they WANT another holocaust. c.s.j.f.a.h. are actively participating in creating holocaust 2 in America. They are advocating, facilitating, funding and building the infrastructure and establishing the social and legislative foundation that will guarantee the complete sucess of holocaust 2.
Not only are they rounding themselves and jumping on the boxcars with joy, jews are donating to buy fuel for the ride and hiring ilhan omar as the engineer to steer the train.
Dawn, may I ask, “Are those original thoughts of yours?” Or did you post that under the influence of ‘news’ you consumed?
It’s an odd comment, Dawn. You presume to care about an American holocaust. But your references to Jews are decidedly unfriendly.
It makes us wonder if your concern for “Holocaust 2” is only cynical.
My post is just an observation of history repeating itself Pete. It’s certainly not from the influence of any news organization because none of them have the guts or desire to speak truthfully. As for being “decidedly unfriendly,” that’s how a lot of people feel about the truth. Do you think issuing calls from the House Floor for Jewish genocide and using the office of the United States Congress to facilitate it is NOT “decidedly unfriendly?” As for the rest of your post I don’t know what you’re trying to say. You certainly know nothing about me, what I presume or my opinion on the holocaust or anything else for that matter, so your statement of what I presume is just a guess. I won’t address it.
As for your last line, “It makes us wonder if your concern for “Holocaust 2” is only cynical,” that makes no sense. My concern is over the fact what government officials sanction and promulgate for one will become the norm for all unless they are challenged. No better place to start challenging their stated mission than in the minds of their colluding intended victims. Actually though I don’t care what you wonder about me because you are not my judge and if I offended you, good. Maybe you should do a little introspection and analyze the real reason you were triggered instead of launching some pathetic attack on the messenger.
People need to stop granting politicians such importance and relevance in their own individual lives. All this focus allows pols to have too much power. They are there to do a job and if they do not then remove them from office. Assigning celebrity status does not in the end serve the public.
“People need to stop granting politicians such importance and relevance in their own individual lives.“
Politics is America’s acceptable religion.
Time was when Catholic and Jews were hated, some people would refuse to date, break bread, share a room with them. Now some Americans use political parties as a litmus test as to whether they will associate with another
pretty mucked up but there you have it
Seems there is a bit of hypocrisy going on here to. Recall the incessant number of posting in this blog about Ms. Clinton. The clear message then was that she needed to be locked up.
As usual the boring fascist left are long on BS and short on facts. On what charge Senator Stupid? And you have how many votes? None and None so far.
As one of those unaccountably in Congress who lied when they took their oath of office you should be attention to what happens if your dreams come true Here’s a hint. Military takes over and drags the country back under The Constitution like it or not and scum like you get chargebjd under the Patriot Act your hero so nicely extended and broadened to include Congress. Unless its in some secret compartmentalized portion but then you still have to face one fact of life.
You don’t have those six magic words to get you out of trouble when citizens start adding up you own crimes.
Too bad you never read The Constitution dimwit. I reckon you should have released all your income tax returns when you had the chance instead of hiding those filed when you were working for those private businesses.
Print? Read your posts some times when you are not looking under your bed for commies, comrade.
Boring? …. (what algorithm came up with print, bots only)
The professor knows it’s a false equivalency. “Lock her up” is a demand. “Trump may not even be a free person in 2020” is a recognition that someone who’s facing criminal investigations on multiple fronts is at some risk of losing his freedom. Professor Turley doesn’t require a lesson in grammar to see the difference.
Wrong. They are both demagoguery – impassioned statements designed to appeal to the prejudices and emotions of voters.
Pence will be sworn in as President on March 5th.
Will the Left will flee to Canada then?
Theyve been promising for years!
I’m starting to lose confidence in the abilities of the thread’s seers to accurately foretell the future.😉
For all the things I’m confident Trump is guilty of. I have little hope he’ll spend a day in jail before 2020, if at all. “For the good of the county,” he’ll be pardoned in advance of an actual trial assuming Pence is in charge and able to do so. SDNY is the biggest worry he faces as opposed to the Mueller report which will get partially lost in partisan sniping. If it weren’t for the Justice Department guideline about not indicting a sitting President, I’d give it better odds but for right now, he stays free. I would put the odds over 50% he doesn’t finish out his term.
After you have made so many crazy statements, who cares what you think?
Yeah, Alan, anyone who thinks Trump is dubious must be crazy. Because it’s perfectly normal for a 72 year old president to have the maturity level of a college sophomore.
College frat boy. In Virginia. HaHaHa. 😹😹😹
Lock him up!!!
“Staffers to Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax resign following second sexual assault allegation”
Two of the three government staffers to Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and two employees of his political action committee resigned following news Friday of a second sexual assault allegation against him.
The PAC employees who left are Dave Mills, who was the executive director of We Rise Together, and Courtney McCargo, a fundraiser for the PAC.
Mills is the husband of state Sen. Jennifer McClellan, D-Richmond, who is considered a strong contender to replace Fairfax as lieutenant governor should Fairfax resign.
On the government side, Adele McClure, the policy director, resigned, as did Julia Billingsley, the scheduling director.
Lauren Burke, Fairfax’s communications director, remains employed by his PAC and Larry Roberts, his chief of staff, remains on as a state employee.
The job of lieutenant governor is part time. Fairfax is a lawyer at the firm Morrison & Foerster, which has placed him on paid leave
“Yeah, Alan, anyone who thinks Trump is dubious must be crazy.”
No. I believe in many different opinions but the individual providing the opinion should be able to provide a reason and be able to defend the position. A pigeon brain is unable to do that.
I don’t necessarily agree with everything Trump says or does, but I find his results have been astoundingly good for the American people. I don’t find Democratic legislators to be acting appropriately when prasie at the SOTU address is directed towards veterans and those legislators remain seated.
Hi Enigma! I wish we could bet on that. I would give you 9:1 that he stays the whole term, let’s say for a base wager of a ten dollar starbucks card. : – )
but hey, look what i found, right now its 4:1 in favor of him serving out his term, if I read this thing correctly.
I’ll take you up on that. After ou last non-bet about future indictments in a timely fashion, oger Stone joined the club. I’ve got Don Jr next on the list within two weeks.
– Even our resident seer gave herself a 2 1/2 month window when she predicted the timing of the indictment of Trump Jr. that she expected.
Are you sure you don’t want to give yourself more leeway?
Nah, I’m good. Thee ae two theories I’m working with. The one that would seem to make the most sense is that Junio won’t be indicted until he has completed his report. Knowing daddy wil go ballistic and might do any damn thing. I’ve decided on a second theory, that after compiling all the evidence he has against Trump, Mueller has come to despise him and wants to punish him. He’ll keep releasing information (like he did in the Manafot hearing where he raised the issue of conspiracy again without redacting the transcript) and issuing indictments every othe week or so from this point on. Junior will be sooner than later because the initial indictment will be relatively minor. It will be the superseding indictments that get issued concurrent with the report.
Re the second theory…
– If he does issue “indictments every other week or so from this point on”, will he observe the 60 day “quiet period” prior to the 2020 election (as he did in the 2018 midterms), or will he keep the indictments going right up until election day?😉
There aren’t that many indictments left of key players, given so many have already been indicted. Don Jr, Jared, Corsi, maybe Ivanka, if we’re lucky Rudy. By May we should have seen the last of them. Excluding of course the separate investigations by SDNY, State of New York, and follow up from the myriad Congressional investigations. We could also bet he’s part of the National Enquirer/AMI extortion case?
Turley wrote, “No compelling case of obstruction or collusion-based crimes has been established against Trump.”
That’s because Trump has refused to answer any of Mueller’s questions about events that took place after Tuesday November 8th, 2016. Remember: Giuliani said that Mueller had to show evidence of a conspiracy to hack between the Trump campaign and the Russian state hackers before Trump would answer any more of Mueller’s questions about events that took place after Tuesday November 8th, 2016.
That means that Trump can’t figure out which answers to give or not to give to Mueller’s questions until Trump knows what evidence Mueller has against the Trump campaign. And that, in turn, means that Trump knows that Mueller could have evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian hack-and-leak operation.
So how could Trump know that Mueller could have evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian hack-and-leak operation? Well, Turley did not flatly deny that there was a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian hack-and-leak operation. Turley asserted that no compelling case for conspiracy has been established.
Hence the “wrap-it-up” mantra: Mueller must issue his final report before Mueller establishes a compelling case for conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian hack-and-leak operation. Did you know that the “wrap-it-up” mantra was incanted by one Richard Millhouse Nixon way back when? Then, as now, the “wrap-it-up” mantra remains a desperate plea for mercy.
The “If Girl” is at it again.
“There aren’t that many indictments left ” and nothing significant appears on the horizon. So far the collusion or collaboration theory of Trump is a hoax. Those indicted had nothing to do with Trump and some may have been illegally indicted. We saw this before with other of Mueller’s investigations where prior guilty rulings were overturned and the innocent were freed.
Tom, according to people like enigma the economy was going to crash shortly after Trump took office. One has to look at those people and laugh.
They say, “He who laughs last laughs best.
If Sluggo seriously thought that Trump will laugh last, then Sluggo would not be so keen on premature laughter.
OTOH, they also say, “Get it while you can.” Get it, Sluggo?
” “He who laughs last laughs best.”
Diane, that could be the drunken and drugged fool who laughs during the fool’s violent attack on innocent people. The last thing that fool might have heard was the bullet whizzing through the fool’s body while everyone else took the event seriously. That seems to be the story of Diane’s life.
I missed the news of the Trump Jr. indictment that Enigma predicted would occur by Feb. 25, 2019.
I think he just recently made another prediction, and that reminded me to check the accuracy of his Feb.11 prediction.
Are you predicting it isn’t going to happen?
No, Enigma. I was reminding you of the bogus prediction you confidently made on Feb. 11.
Tom, Enigma is not mysterious. He is Bogus.
It was a real prediction, I was wrong on the date, nobody but Mueller knows what his plans are. I am asking you if you believe that day will never come?
Hey, don’t bust his balls. he made a strong prediction and has admitted he was wrong. Maybe he will get indicted, though I doubt it.
It’s great that Enigma comes on here for a civil chat with us from time to time. Or not so civil, ha. And Peter too. For my part, it’s the three avatars of Diane that annoy me.
Cheers, have a great weekend, and don’t miss this one.
Tom, take note how later Enigma can’t even say you were right and that his prediction was wrong. That is small potatoes. Just think of all the statements made as fact on this blog that have been proven wrong and all the vitriol coming from the left when alternative facts were presented by the right. The left on this blog have been mostly wrong in their comments since Trump came down the elevator. The right on this blog have been mostly correct.
Is there any sign of contrition eminating from the left? No. Right and wrong, moral and immoral have no place in their lives. Only their ideology matters. Lie, cheat, steal, promote violence, etc. are just methods the left uses to promote its ideology and the pawns on this blog would be sacrificed in a second if the hard left found it useful. For those that are aware of any history compare the killing and canibalism of the French Revolution to that of the American Revolution.
This is absolutely brilliant!
Can we get rid of “Generational Welfare” and “Affirmative Action Privilege” now?
It’s Merit That Matters,
“Warren received the predictably wild applause to her suggestion in a campaign rally that Trump will be in prison by 2020.”
A cheap way to get applause from a Presidential Candidate, but it shows admiration for Trump’s cheap statement ‘lock her up’. I am sure Trump will take Warren’s statement as a compliment.
Wondering if you shouldn’t take your blood pressure quite often and anger management therapy???
Darrel C. C.,
No need for either. You may not have been reading St. Peter’s Posts here, but given the stunts he’s been pulling, he’s bound to get some blowback.
“This is the other moccasin dropping. And if there are any more, then she might as well take the teepee down because it’s over for her.”
– Governor Mike Huckabee
President Trump will resign from office on March 4th. You folks heard it from me. He has already decided to go. Mar A Lago has some repairs being made and he is waiting for that. People will still read his tweets. He can then go to the cathouse in Amsterdam and get away with it.
LizBeth Warren is a Pinocio and not a Pocahontas.
She hails from Delhi India and that is her link to American Indians.
American Indians hail from India too.
People move around.
This is why we need a Wall.

Mister Raygun! Tear Up Your Speech!
