Trump Selects Jessie Liu As Associate Attorney General

While President Donald Trump has been criticized for his pressuring of Justice officials like former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and others, he has actually selected highly qualified people for vacancies in the Department. That was the case with Attorney Bill Barr and that is the case with the nomination this week of U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu as Associate Attorney General of the United States. Liu, 46, is an exceptionally well qualified nominee and, just as Trump has been rightfully criticized for some of his actions, he should be praised for this nomination. (For full disclosure, Liu is married to one of my colleagues, Michael Abramowicz.)

Liu’s background is personally familiar. She clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (as I did) and became a partner at Jenner & Block (where I also worked before my clerkship).

She received her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Harvard in 1995 in literature and her J.D.  from Yale in 1998.

She has a wide array of experience including work as deputy general counsel at Treasury as well has serving stints as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia; deputy chief of staff in the National Security Division at Justice and Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the  Civil Rights Division. After working on the transition team for Trump, she was made U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

She is a stellar choice for the position.

  1. My apologies to Mrs. Liu and the “readers” here. I see what is happening. Barr and the fascist trump are removing the person responsible for all the prosecutions in the DC District so they can replace her with a lackey for the fascist.

BTW, after all the years I’ve spent here in Thailand, I’ve yet to hear a traditional formal dress referred to as a sabai. Then again, I don’t care how rich you are, a farang is never, ever going to be accepted into HiSo world here. I prefer real people. I live in Isan, with all the displaced Lao people from many, many years ago. Sabai means happy. Sabai Dee? asks if you are ok in Isan. Sabai dee in Lao is a greeting.

  2. Trump is hated because he can’t be puppeteered by Deep State interests. He is turning the Deep State on its head by replacing rancid cronyism with true American values like meritocracy. The Deep State operatives need to be exorcised and sent to federal prison.

  3. I bet she had a very long talk with a team of lawyers before she took the job. And to plan an exit strategy.

    1. Yes, Fish, any wise person does have an exit strategy for a new career position. clearly, she is a successful lawyer with a bright future. we’re blessed to have Donald J Trump making another good choice in the public interest!

  4. I am pleased that a well-qualified candidate, with a solid background, was chosen for this important position. I wish her well.

One of my consistent criticisms of Trump is his selection of some bad actors, like Cohen and Omarosa. I was also disappointed that General John Kelly went. However, I cannot see their very different personalities emulsifying well.

Chinese woman, Meng Wanzhou of Huawei, appears to be devious, deceptive and a very bad actor.

“…The United States, however, has repeatedly accused the company of stealing technology from its Western rivals and believes its close ties to the Chinese government make it a threat to national security. In January, the United States unveiled a sweeping indictment that accuses Ms. Meng of fraudulently deceiving four banks so that Huawei could evade American sanctions against Iran. What You Need to Know About the Huawei Court Case in Canada
An executive of the telecommunications company Huawei is at the center of a legal case that has strained relations between Canada and China.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — When the Chinese tech executive Meng Wanzhou was arrested by the Canadian authorities in the Vancouver airport while changing flights, she suddenly became one of the world’s most famous detainees.
Her December arrest — made at the United States’ request for her extradition on fraud charges — provoked a storm of recriminations from China, landed Ms. Meng in legal limbo, and put Canada in the middle of a fight between two world powers that are both rivals and trading partners.
Since then, relations between China and Canada have become increasingly strained, and China has arrested two Canadians, accusing them of espionage, and sentenced a third to death on a drug charge.
On Wednesday, the next chapter in Ms. Meng’s case opened with an extradition proceeding at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. A hearing was set for May 8 to discuss next steps in the case. Chief among them will be setting a date for an extradition hearing to decide whether she should be sent to face fraud charges in the United States.
Ms. Meng, dressed casually in a purple sweatshirt with a simple clip in her air, appeared composed as she sat in the courtroom next to an interpreter. She joined the large group of journalists, supporters and curious members of the public assembled in the courtroom as they bowed to the judge as the proceeding began.
Highlighting what he called the extraordinary context of the case, Richard Peck, a member of Ms. Meng’s defense team, said there were concerns about its “political character,” alluding to comments by President Trump that he was willing to intercede in the proceedings.
    Who is Meng Wanzhou?
A polished executive with a penchant for Hermès scarves, Ms. Meng, 46, is the chief financial officer of the Chinese tech giant Huawei, and the eldest daughter of its founder, Ren Zhengfei. Ms. Meng, who also uses the names Sabrina and Cathy, was born in the western city of Chengdu. A high school dropout, she went on to get a master’s degree, began at Huawei as a secretary and eventually rose to become a public face of the company. Meng Wanzhou, Huawei’s chief financial officer, was arrested by Canadian authorities in December. Ms. Meng was an important figure at Huawei as it rapidly expanded: Her job included announcing its financial results and speaking at public events around the world.
She was arrested on Dec. 1 at the request of the United States, which asked for her extradition and accused her of fraud.
She has been awaiting her extradition hearing in Vancouver, where she and her husband own two expensive homes. She was released on bail of $10 million Canadian dollars, and is relatively free to roam about the city, although under 24-hour surveillance and wearing a GPS tracker on her ankle. During her bail hearing, her lawyer told the court that, during her detention, she was considering studying for a doctorate in business administration and hoped to spend time with her family. Her detainment has prompted an outpouring of support in China, where many people see her as a hostage.
What is the case against her?
Huawei has become the world’s largest supplier of the equipment that underlies the world’s wireless networks. The United States, however, has repeatedly accused the company of stealing technology from its Western rivals and believes its close ties to the Chinese government make it a threat to national security. In January, the United States unveiled a sweeping indictment that, among other things, accuses Ms. Meng of fraudulently deceiving four banks so that Huawei could evade American sanctions against Iran. It also accused Huawei of stealing trade secrets and obstructing a criminal investigation into what it said was the company’s effort to avoid those sanctions by destroying or concealing evidence.

Kylie Jenner became a billionaire by taking full advantage of the fame of Kim Kardashian.

Jessie Liu will become an Associate Attorney General by taking full advantage of “Affirmative Action Privilege” and by enjoying the favor of communistic, “deep state” globalists in the American government who hold no allegiance to it.

      1. I second that. Harvard discriminates against Asians in its application process. For her to not only get in, but graduate summa cum laude is an extraordinar accomplishment to be proud of.

        1. Karen, Harvard and other prestigious schools, including Berkeley, are afraid of being dominated by high-achieving Asians. It’s a dilemma that bedevils our best universities. As you might know, the University of California system is grappling with this issue.

‘Yes’, Asians students should be accepted to universities based on merit. But do we want our best schools developing an elite, super-minority? Such an outcome could lead to a bitter backlash 20 years down the road. I don’t know that anyone has a satisfactory solution to this issue.

          1. Why would it bedevil Harvard?

I believe in a meritocracy. Skin color does not matter. My major had a nigh number of Asians. They belonged there, because they’d earned it.

Worry about Asians and African American distribution is, to me, like worrying about the distributions of blondes and brunettes.

Many Asian families place a high importance on education and hard work, and it shows. I do not agree with a “personality” score, as used by Harvard. It’s subjective, and they don’t even interview the candidates. They just assume Asians have a poor personality, which is incredibly racist.

What I would agree with, however, is to use certain indicators of future success. For instance, test scores alone are not the sole indicator of success in your field. You also need perseverance, grit, and a connection to the community through service helps, too. Such factors would not be as subjective, and could be useful on the application process. Non discriminatory, too.

      2. Mr. Kurtz, please cite the Constitution wherein the right and freedom to discriminate is denied to Americans. I think freedom of speech, thought, belief, religion, publication, press, socialization, assembly and every other conceivable natural and God-given right and freedom per the 9th Amendment include “discrimination” and every other form of opinion and most certainly allow owners of private property to “claim and exercise dominion over” or possess and dispose of private property as they choose without interference from government or any other individual. You don’t seem to grasp that the Founders and their Constitution severely limited government and maximally freed individuals. To the Founders, freedom of individuals invariably prevailed over any power of government.

The implication of your statement is the conflation of discrimination and racism with violence. That is completely wrong and insidious. Would you write a law that denies Americans the right to move out of a neighborhood if hyphenates begin moving in? That would be as unconstitutional as rent control, “Fair Housing” and “Non-Discrimination” laws are now.

“Private property is that dominion which one man claims and exercises over the external things of the world, in exclusion of every other individual.”

  7. The People’s Supreme Court of the People’s Republic of China consists of Chinese People.

Is it conceivable that there are no Americans (i.e. men) qualified for positions in the American U.S. Department of Justice?

If “candidates” are so overwhelmingly “qualified,” why do Americans (i.e. American-Americans) continue to suffer the forced imposition of the dictatorship of “Affirmative Action Privilege,” quotas, forced busing, rent control, unfair “Fair Housing” laws, discriminatory “Non-Discrimination” laws, etc, all of which are irrefutably unconstitutional and all of which promote entities other than actual Americans – Americans like the Americans who made America? When did it become a crime, subject to penalty, to be an American under the Constitution? What happened to the individual freedom and limited government provided by the Constitution? Why wasn’t an Asiatic nomad roaming the plains of America appointed to the Supreme Court by the Founders in 1789 if that were the intent?

Globalists (i.e. communists) unconstitutionally manipulate the vote and elections, and globalists dictate the condition of America. Have you noticed that 12% of the population, African hyphenates, enjoy “product placement” in 100% of the scenes in movies and on TV when statistically they should only appear in 12% of those scenes? Who ordered that? The President was compelled, not by the constitution but by communistic political correctness, to make an affirmative action appointment.

All forms of Central Planning, Control of the Means of Production (i.e. regulation), Redistribution of Wealth and Social Engineering are unconstitutional.

“Affirmative Action Privilege” is not constitutional.

    Merit is.

As a human being, I offer congratulations on a job well done.

As an American, I say, “Let freedom ring.”

    Period.

And totally reliant on “Affirmative Action Privilege.”

When do you suppose America will be able to finally eradicate unconstitutional “Affirmative Action Privilege” so that women

might stand on their own merit and actually succeed on their own in the dynamic, crushing environment of free enterprise?

          And again, thanks for reading.

        And thanks for reading, again!

  8. Back in 1961 Joe Kennedy told John that he better put Bobby Kennedy in as Attorney General. Because in Washington he would need someone he could trust to watch his back. Trump should consider doing something similar.

    1. Back in 1861, “Crazy Abe” Lincoln nullified and suspended the Constitution and seized the government as a violent dictator. Trump should consider doing something similar for the benefit of Free Americans, the Constitution and the Free American Republic.

  9. “Liu, 46, is an exceptionally well qualified nominee and, just as Trump has been rightfully criticized for some of his actions, he should be praised for this nomination.”—Jonathan Turley

Roughly translating this into plain English, “Trump makes sound decisions if I agree with them and he makes lousy decisions if I disagree with them, because I’m always right and my views on such matters are always authoritative, persuasive, and convincing.”

    1. you need a new translator sir. no the words mean “good job” and the appointment candidate is well qualified.

      1. Californian and American taxpayers are forced to fund translators for foreigners to facilitate their existence in America.

That dudn’t make any sense in a free country where merit alone prevails.

Chinese and other foreigners are financially supported by Americans and that support takes many multiple forms.

Some years ago in CA, Vietnamese were gifted low-interest mortgages…American kids had to fight their war for them then pay their mortgages…plus welfare, food stamps, utility subsidies, etc., etc., etc.

That dudn’t make any sense in a free country.

Immigration should be severely limited and Americans should never be compelled to fund the success of foreigners for any reason or rationale.

A few people might need asylum, not 100 million foreign invaders. That dudn’t make any sense.

American women should be overpopulating America like Chinese women overpopulated China – instead American women are killing America as America imports its population. Have you ever been to Irvine or Foothill Ranch? They moved half of Taiwan and Hong Kong in. That ain’t no way to run a railroad.

If I go to China, will I be Chinese…

will I be subsidized by Chinese taxpayers?

The people who have borne the compulsory burden for globalism are Americans.

        That dudn’t make any sense.

  10. Good for Trump. Good for the US. Good for her.

    祝你 好运 !

Ms Liu seems very qualified. It’s great to see people still study literature and not just technical subjects.

    1. Her main qualifiers probably include: 1. Member of the Federalist Society; and 2. Member of the Trump Transition team. She was also personally interviewed by Trump for her job as U.S. Attorney for the D.C. Circuit, something that is relatively unheard-of.

      1. You missed she went to Harvard and Yale. Did you make it into either one? I didnt. One of my friends did. He was smarter than me and worked harder. I would have to assume that she is smarter and worked harder than me too. Which is why she is there and I am here.

But I am just a humble person and not a know it all genius like the Trump haters here. Who can’t even praise a simple appointment. This exposes you all as biased.

        1. Seriously. What are her disqualifications? I dislike critics who gripe but can offer no solid complaint other than Trump apponted her. Harvard and Yale and they still hate her. That’s bias. I hope intolerant people do not harass her or ruin this accomplishment for her out of pure spite.

          1. I seriously question the judgment and intellectual chops of anyone who supports a narcissistic racist misogynistic swine like Trump. Also, I did not attend Harvard and did not study literature as an undergraduate, but I don’t consider literature to be anywhere near as challenging as the medical science courses I took and for which I earned honors.

            1. Literature is a common degree for law students, as it involves critical thinking.

Since my degree is in the sciences, and I didn’t just take a few medical science courses, perhaps my intellectual chops are safe. I do question the intellectual soundness and integrity of anyone who consistently resorts to ad hominem instead of calmly and rationally discussing the facts of an argument. It is also rather anti-woman to savagely attack an accomplished woman who just earned a high honor, for no other reason than you hate the President, and would see worthy people miss out on opportunities if there is any connection. That sort of bias displays a lack of critical reasoning.

But we have had this discussion before, I think, under several other names.

I neither believe Trump can do no wrong, nor that he is Hitler. I call each event as I see it.

              1. From my discussions with a client who was a law professor who reviewed applicants, Karen S is correct. He said English majors learn critical thinking and usually developer writing skills, both important for a lawyer.

  11. There used to be a time when qualified appointments was normal and not news worthy.

  12. Trump doesn’t know her from a stump in the ground. She was “chosen” for some strategic reason, and logic tells me it is to curb investigations into Trump and his crimes currently underway in the District where she is serving as U.S. Attorney. BTW: she will be handling anti-trust matters, not criminal matters, as associate AG. That, also, is likely for strategic reasons.

On the topic of anti-trust matters, did you see where T-Mobile has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars staying at Trump’s D.C. hotel, after its proposed merger that needs government approval? Are all these things coincidences? I think not.

Also, according to the latest polls, more Americans believe Michael Cohen’s version of facts than Trumps, and a plurality of Americans think he committed crimes before and after stealing the election.

    1. Yeah, I’m sure Trump’s ‘executive time’ is filled with reviewing who checks-in and checks-out of his hotels, and what credit cards they use.

      1. If he had divested ownership of the hotel, there would be no question, but he has refused to do so. When Jimmy Carter won his election, he divested himself totally of his only business–the Carter Peanut business. The reason is to avoid the risk that any decision made by an Administration could possibly be beneficial to the POTUS or his family. T-Mobile had never before spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at Trump’s Hotel before the merger matter came up for approval. Ever heard of the Emoluments Clause?

        1. When Jimmy Carter won his election, he divested himself totally of his only business–t

He did nothing of the kind. He placed his assets in a trust supervised by the family lawyer. He hadn’t been the manager of the family businesses for 13 years, by the way. His brother Billy ran them.

      2. Uh, he has people to do that for him. He spends his “executive time” watching TV. Aren’t you proud?

      1. You talking to me? You talking to me?
I don’t see anyone else here. You must be talking to me.

    2. You don’t realize how incredibly small and bitter you sound, do you?

      1. I ordinarily ignore your ad hominem attacks, but today, I’m going to ask what is small and petty about pointing out that the highly controversial T-Mobile—Sprint merger needs government approval, that T-Mobile executives spent in excess of $195K at Trump’s hotel, but only after seeking government approval for this merger, that Liu, who had been in charge of the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office that is investigating Trump is proposed to be elevated to Associate AG who will be overseeing anti-trust matters. These are facts, not opinions, and they are concerning.

Also, explain what is small and petty about citing the results of the just-released Quinniapiac poll, especially since Turley just recently wrote about Trump’s approval rating going up, but this was before Cohen testified?

Does it make you feel better as a Trumpster to accuse critics of Trump of being “small and petty”, just like he criticizes anyone who is opposed to him?

        1. I feel great right now. But I think you were talking to someone else.

it’s fantastic to have a leader of the pack out front who is a true alpha instead of a pansy or a chump. Hail to the Chief!

          1. Sieg Heil!

Uh, by the way, the Dear Leader is a pansy who in real life can’t get it up to actually fire anyone, doesn’t pay the little people and thinks nothing of their pay being cut off for weeks, had Daddy’s doc get him out of the draft and then later made fun of veterans “who got caught”, and is too fat to walk 18 holes.

Yeah, you got a real tough guy there.

            1. He is a bit swishy, sometimes. That thing Trump does with his raised hand reminds me of Richard Simmons.

            2. “…doesn’t pay the little people and thinks nothing of their pay being cut off for weeks,..”

              – Anon

              Hail Victory!

Fun Fact: 95% of what those ridiculously overpaid federal “workers” do is unconstitutional, futile insignificance. They all show up at departments and agencies that may not exist per the Constitution but are mandated by the Communist Manifesto. Social Security, for example, is a federal rip-off retirement plan that should only be conducted voluntarily in the exponentially more efficient free markets of the private sector. Also, the Department of Agriculture must be private and fully funded by the industry itself per the Constitution, as must energy. The EPA is simply the realm of the courts. Education is local not federal. Ridiculous is the federal government. The Founders established severely restricted and limited government which exists solely to facilitate the freedom and free enterprise of individuals.

              1. The courts don’t agree with your interpretation of the constitution, though it is also irrelevant to paying people who you have employed or contracted to work for you and don’t have the resources to wait a month or more for payment. For many who worked for Trump’s businesses, he has stiffed them completely or pressured them to take pennies on the dollar.

                1. The courts are treasonous “legislators from the bench.” The only thing to be done with the treasonous courts is to impeach and convict them of nullification, usurpation and treason of the worst; most egregious sort. Courts have denied Americans their freedoms and rights and gifted government power it does not derive from fundamental law – the Constitution.

I don’t have an “interpretation” of the Constitution, I have only the literal English language of the Constitution. Congress has the power to tax merely for “…general Welfare…,” deliberately omitting and, thereby, excluding individual welfare. According to Dictionary.com, general means ALL and M-W defines general as the WHOLE. All Americans use the roads, post office, water, sewer, electricity, etc.

Congress has the power to regulate merely commerce, trade or exchange “…among the several states…” to preclude bias or favor by one state over another. Congress is provided no power to regulate anything else and no other power to regulate anything else is enumerated. The entire welfare state and related communistic regulations are wholly unconstitutional.

Start here; you can read can’t you”?

    3. Anonymous:

You asserted that Trump doesn’t know her. Based on what? I keep hearing hysterical emotional arguments. First, people were adamant, 100% sure he was an anti-Semite because of a sheriff’s badge on a meme. He moved the embassy to Jerusalem, is tight with Netanyahu, and sent Nikki Haley to fight anti-semitism in the UN. Then he had dementia. Then he had health problems. Then he was definitely a narcissist. Then he was compulsive. Then he was a Fascist (due to the public’s amnesia about Fascism’s ties to Socialism). Then he was racist. Then his son was on the Autism spectrum. Then…then…It’s one story after another, and instant amnesia about the fabricated allegations abandoned 30 seconds ago. Trump gets sucked inappropriately into Twitter feuds. He is twice divorced with a history of adultery. He has his flaws. I oppose people constantly fabricating one story after another for political expediency. It’s unjust. It is the demonizing of one’s political opponent, which is wrong.

And if by “stole the election” you meant, followed the Constitution, then you’re right.

Democrats keep trying to disenfranchise 48 states in the US from having a say in the election. The Electoral College is to Presidential Elections what the Senate is to the Legislative Branch. Every state gets a say, just like every state gets 2 Senators, otherwise 48 states would become flyover country and nuclear waste dumps.

I hope the Democratic Party ceases their tyrannical efforts to dissolve the representataive nature of our government. That is truely Fascist.

As for Americans believing Trump committed crimes…what crimes? Is it a vague impression that he’s a crook, based upon the endless harassment and bigotry in the mainstream media? At one time, a majority of Americans believed that Michael Brown was shot with his hands up, and that Trayvon was minding his own business, eating Skittles. A majority of Democrats believe that most conservatives are racist Neo Nazi Fascists, which is pure ignorance.

I have been burned so many times by a lack of journalistic integrity that it’s best to wait for an investigation. Perhaps Trump will be found guilty of a process crime.

      1. The Empath from Star Trek said, “I keep hearing hysterical emotional arguments. I hope the Democratic Party ceases their tyrannical efforts to dissolve the representative nature of our government. That is truly Fascist.”

      2. 1. Did you see the A&E series on Trump? Did you? If you did, you would understand much more about why people find the mere sight of him nauseating. The series relied on interviews with Trump over the years, as well as people in the Trump organization, victims of his race discrimination, Marla Maples, journalists and others with direct, personal knowledge of him, how he interacts with others, how he treats others, his arrogance, dishonesty, and pathetic need for attention and adulation.

        2. How did he steal the election? With the help of Russian hackers who were given polling information by his campaign that was used to target a few key precincts in a few key states. These are facts, not opinions. That’s how someone who lost the popular vote gets to “win” the election over the will of the majority of American voters. And, while you busily repeat the pro-electoral college rhetoric you heard on Faux News, did you ever stop to consider the injustice that the vote of one hillbilly in Indiana cancels out multiple votes of people living in California? Did Tucker or Hannity explain the genesis of the Electoral College? Hint: it has to do with slavery, not leveling the playing field. You’d feel differently if this tactic worked against Trump.

        3. You love to believe that “Democrats” are the bad guys, that they control the evil Deep State, and that all media are in on some conspiracy to slur the good name of Trump. That’s because you are a Faux News disciple. The election last Fall was a referendum on Trump. He lost. Badly. And, it’s not because of the Deep State, Democrats, or unfair media coverage. Most Americans see him for the lying, racist, failing narcissist he is. Here’s the report card: 1. Record debt, which grew at a record pace. 2. Record trade deficit as a direct result of Trump’s failed trade policies. 3. Increase in illegal border crossings because of Trump trying to make it impossible to obtain legal immigration. 4. North Korea continuing its long-range nuclear missile program, even after Trump deferred to Kim Jong Un and against the Warmbier family. World leaders literally laugh out loud at him, to his face.

Why do most Americans think he is a criminal? Because he constantly lies, about everything; he keeps 2 sets of books : one for the IRS and another for Forbes; he won’t release his tax returns; he cheated small business owners who constructed the Trump Taj Mahal, he and his campaign were cozy with Russians, from whom he was trying to curry favor for a Trump Moscow hotel; he lied about ongoing negotiations with Russians after he got the nomination; multiple members of his inner circle have either pleaded guilty or been convicted of felonies. Those are the indisputed facts.

    4. You must have the Mind of God to know what is in Trump’s heart.

Or maybe you are his Chief of Staff who reviews his schedule? Or Melania?

Otherwise I’m not sure how you could make such an authoritative statement about what he pays attention to or not. But this is just another evidence of the bias and arrogance of the anti Trump commentator here. Thanks for reproving the point.

  13. Congrats to Trump for putting women in so many high positions like head of the CIA, asst AG, Home Land Security, Dept of Ed, Dept of Trans, Press Sec, United Nations, State Dept. Spokesperson, and many more. Now Hillary and her ilk can’t accuse him of being a sexist–NOT. Wait for the next Supreme Court pick. Definitely will be a woman this time that the left will tear apart or pull their hair out over. Can’t wait. They are the ANGRY ONES. Good title for the next political book.

  14. “After working on the transition team for Trump, she was made U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia”. Disqualifying without further research. There is no way the fascist would be dictator would nominate her if she were not eminently NOT qualified. Federalist.

      1. I love the traditional sabai. The Thai have a rich tradition in textiles. All of the Thai women that I have known have such elegant bone structure.

        1. IIRC, The Sergeant has some sort of association with Pine Ridge–as in The Oglala Lakota Native American Reservation.

  15. She is female.
    She is Asian
She is a Republican Trump follower

The Democrats will screw her without vaseline in the usual way they screw Blacks, Hispanics, Asians who share different opinions than themselves

Just another day in these Divided States

    1. I don’t know about “Democrats” but most people will weigh her qualifications and consider Professor Turley’s endorsement. People are not entirely in agreement with one polar extreme or the other.

  16. I have no idea if Liu is qualified or not. I do know she took the usual Ivy League path through high powered law firms, clerkships, political, judicial and academic connections and government jobs to get where she is today. Likely trading the penance of relative low pay for eventual power. That might mean she is civic-minded and “stellar” or that she played the Washington Swamp game to perfection. We’ll just have to see if she dominates or serves we the little people.
