Trump Retweets Highly Offensive Images Of Pelosi and Schumer In Muslim Garb

President Donald Trump is being widely and legitimately denounced today for a highly offensive image that retweeted of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in Muslim garb, including a statement that Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt that the image is “repulsive anti-Muslim bigotry.” I have repeatedly objected to outrageous and unpresidential tweets by President Trump and I believe it is important for all of us to object to this type of offensive imagery and commentary. It has no place in our politics and certainly no place in presidential communications.

The Monday morning by Twitter user @D0wn_Under was shared by Trump with his 71 million followers with hours with the caption: “The corrupted Dems trying their best to come to the Ayatollah’s rescue.”

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham caused a secondary flare up when she defended the President by accusing the Democrats of “almost taking the side of terrorists.” That is grossly unfair to the Democrats and magnifies the concerns over the use of such images and insults in addressing your political opponents.

There has to be some modicum of decency and decorum in our politic debates that starts with the President. While some may find this image comical, it is highly insulting, highly inflammatory and highly unfair. It appeals to the lowest common denominator in our politics and fuels racial and religious divisions. We have a right to expect more from the White House.

  1. The new unconstitutional normal.

The Left sees Donald Trump’s comportment, rallies, and tweets as a new low in presidential behavior that justifies extraordinary countermeasures. But Trump’s personal characteristics are idiosyncratic and may or may not become institutionalized by subsequent presidents. And it is not as if liberal icons such as FDR, LBJ, JFK, and Bill Clinton suddenly became saintly in office.

What is far scarier is the reaction to Trump, in both the constitutional and political sense. What follows are likely the new norms for the next generation of presidents, and they will probably be equally applied to Democrats who implemented them in the Trump era.

    1. wow olly thats good

” The Washington top echelon of the CIA, FBI, and NSA will be largely immune from oversight. If they wish to spy on a presidential candidate or curtail the options of a sitting president, they will easily use their powers of surveillance, leaking, and spying for political purposes — purposes mostly defined as protecting the status quo of the permanent government. Upon retirement, such intelligence heads will retain their security clearances and use this inside access to obtain lucrative analyst billets on cable news channels deemed hostile to the incumbent administration. No one will care much when an FBI or CIA director lies under oath to Congress. There will be no indictments when high intelligence officials deliberately mislead federal courts, lie to federal investigators and the public, and conspire to derail political campaigns.

      6) Reverse targeting of political opponents will be the normal behavior of intelligence agencies working closely with an incumbent lame-duck administration. Political rivals and opponents can be surveilled by warrants that are aimed nominally at third-party targets. The names of surveilled political opponents then can be unmasked when presidential appointees request it — the more unmaskings, and the more extraneous they are, the better. And the ensuing information will be leaked to the popular press with impunity.”

yes, sad prospect, unless you are a bootlicker of the “Deep State”

      1. The “deep state” announced an investigation of Hillary 2 weeks before the 2016 vote while protecting Trump’s campaign from public awareness of it’s being investigated.

        I want my money back.

        1. Bwahahahahaha

Americans loathe Hillary….always have, always will

          sux to be you

        2. Glad you brought that up again, anon1byethebook.
I lost count of how many times you’ve whined about Comey’s reopening the investigation.

      2. Excellent. This “deep state” entity which your dogged determination and adept sleuthing has revealed for all the world to see sound ominous. It seem you have discovered a nefarious cabal of ne’er-do-wells, whose dastardly goals are no doubt to eradicate our love of apple pie and twinkies, to bring back the blue laws, and to fluoridate our precious bodily fluids. Nice work detective, nice work indeed.

this is to “Inspector Clouseau, at your service madam” kurtzie

    2. That’s spot on.

There is now a government ruling class running the show, regardless of who will get elected President.

      1. I believe it’s been there all along. It’s just been exposed, with a large percentage of our population endorsing it.

  2. Let’s talk about civility in politics.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Field Organizer. If he was a fringe lunatic, his ravings wouldn’t matter. How common are his views among Leftists? A conservative invited speaker cannot get on a college campus across America without security, because the hardliners threaten violence against dissent. It’s become common enough that it’s found in universities all across our nation.

So, how common is Jurek’s threatening behavior? This is exactly the kind of hate that I find so concerning. They think Trump is hateful but it’s themselves who are threatening violence against dissent. It’s crazy.

“Kyle Jurek, Iowa Field Organizer, Sanders Campaign: “I’m Ready to Throw Down Now…The Billionaire Class. The F***ing Media, Pundits. Walk into MSNBC Studios, Drag Those M*****F***ers Out by Their Hair and Light Them on Fire in the Streets.

Kyle Jurek Suggests That Liberal Democrats Should be Placed in Gulags or be Put to Death: “Liberals Get the F***ing Wall First.”

Jurek: “Well, I’ll Tell You What in Cuba, What did They do to Reactionaries? You Want to Fight Against the Revolution, You’re Going to Die for it, M*****F***er.”

Jurek Affirms That “Free Speech Has Repercussions…There Are Consequences for Your F***ing Actions…You Should Expect a Violent Reaction. And You Deserve a Violent Reaction.”

Jurek Lambasts Elizabeth Warren, Suggests That Warren Does Not Deserve Support Solely Due to Being a Woman.

Jurek: “Like F**k if We Can Beat Donald Trump, as Long as We Nominated a Woman. Like F***ing Idiot. Like What the F**k? The World is on Fire. This is an Emergency Situation, and You’re Hung Up on Vaginas.””

    1. Perhaps I should have just posted the link, instead of copying and pasting excerpts of Bernie Sander’s field organizer’s threatening rants. Pretty vulgar.

    2. Karen accurately places Trump’s rhetorical and civility equivalent with an “Iowa field organizer” (?) for Sanders. Adjust your outrage and victimization identity accordingly.

      1. Tehran is looking for their target practice and we found it trolling these forums yet again

Over here! Come get your Democrat loving Terrorist

      2. If a Trump campaign officer discussed his plans to light cities on fire if Trump lost, you would be concerned. In fact, the country would be going hysterical.

But it’s a Democrat, so it must be perfectly fine. Laughable even. In fact, pointing it out must be some sign of psychosis. It must be immediately forgotten about.

Trumpers Ridicule The Concept Of Unifying Presidents

A few comments down, I noted that Trump was adolescent to tweet such a polarizing image. It’s not the president’s job to pursue Culture Wars against half the country. But our resident Trumpers disagree! They believe the Culture Wars is priority. Like defeating liberals is the most crucial of priorities. In this spirit Trump had no choice but to tweet said image. As the Fox News President how could he not?

Not surprisingly our Trmpers respond with a stream of What Abouts. “What About Bill Clinton?” “What about LBJ”? No specifics are necessary to raise a What About. Here in the Trump era What Abouts needn’t make any sense. The fact that they had a What About credits a Trumper with imaginary debate points.

    1. “It’s not the president’s job to pursue Culture Wars against half the country.” But that’s not what he’s been doing. He has actively cheered on the Muslim Iranian protestors, demonstrating against their repressive regime. The Tweet he forwarded was trying to criticize Schumer and Pelosi for opposing taking out terrorist Soleimani.

I mentioned before that the image was clumsy satire. It would have been better to link them to Iran’s regime, rather than the Persian people in general, and I’ve never seen an Iranian man wearing that.

I find it hypocritical that Democrats have called Trump psychotic, Nazi, racist, anti-semitic, none of which was true, and have advocated for making Trump administration officials “not welcome anywhere anymore”, but they complain about this post.

The message was clearly that Schumer and Pelosi sided with Iran. If the Tweet said something like all Muslims must die, then I’d have a bigger problem with it. But it doesn’t. Putting the hijab on them was an effort to tie them to the repression of Iran, rather than protecting our country from a planned terrorist attack. That is a valid point for satire.

Otherwise, how can you possibly expect any of us to get upset in a totally one sided rule? Blame Trump for Iran shooting down its own aircraft, and that’s fine, but how dare you tie Pelosi and Schumer to Iran!!!! I mean, yeah, they supported Iran’s excuse for killing innocent people, as Trump made them do it, but come on! Only Democrats can say absolutely terrible things! Even satire implying that they have Iran’s back instead of ours is grounds for impeachment! And outrage!

The reaction seems stronger than the stimulus, and hypocritical.

No, I don’t think Trump should have forwarded it. It did not do a good job of explicitly tying them to the regime.

Who has been engaging in Culture wars? Who has pitted transgender against women, poor against rich, minority against white, atheist against Christian, Democrats against Israel?

Maybe Christians are just so used to seeing our religious iconography and garb used in satire that it doesn’t bother many of us. I don’t find the image funny, or good satire, but I’m not seeing red either. How could I? I thought Life of Brian was rather funny. There have been some pointedly less funny uses of Christianity in images, TV, movies, and the like. You can’t say on the one hand that constantly deriding Christianity is fine and free speech, but you can’t put a hijab in satire to show a politician supported a repressive regime on the other. It’s not great satire, but it’s not the end of civilization, either. As Kurtz pointed out, forwarding it was not particularly helpful.

Do you understand the terrible fruit that sprang from the constant message to the poor that if someone is successful they must have stolen that from you?

Ami Horowitz interviewed people in neighborhoods where there has been a sharp increase in anti-semitic attacks. He found poor people claiming that successful Jews stole their fortune from the poor. It’s obviously bananas, but that’s the gist of the Democrat line. If someone’s rich, they stole it. What did they think was going to happen? Combine that with Louis Farrakhan and Al Sharpton antisemitic rants, and this is what you get. It’s a cultural disaster.

You are right that there’s a culture war going on, only not about the perpetrators.

““I used to write about Europeans and their apathetic attitudes toward the Jew-hatred around them,” Markowicz wrote. “Synagogues torched, Jews beaten — just another day on the Continent. But now the demon is here, in America. Worse, it’s stalking Jews with increasing regularity in New York City, my city, home to the largest Jewish population outside Israel.”

“In 2020, I don’t want to read another column like this one,” Markowicz continued. “All Jews want is to live our lives in safety. To ensure that, [New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio] will have to stop using the violence against us to fight his invisible political foes. De Blasio’s ideology has led to apathy, which, in turn, has resulted in injured Jews in our city.””

  4. newsflash, bernie sanders supporters making plans to commit riot and arson

they say stalin’s gulags were not so bad

they invite violence against speech they dont like

    see it all here

good thing they appreciate the need for re-education. other people have ideas about that too.

    1. Kurtz, Bernie Bros are Trumpers in reverse. Bernie Bros are waging their own Culture Wars against everyone else.

      1. I have heard a lot of smart things from Bernie over the years, though I can’t support him as a candidate, and recently he seems as dim as ever to me. I am not in contact with his typical supporters so I can’t agree with you or not on that. It seems to me that most street level Democrats in the Midwest are supporting Biden or Pete. Warren is as much an outlier here as Bernie, perhaps even more so.

      2. And then there’s Elizabeth Warren, the enemy of business owners. We didn’t build that. (If we didn’t, then where did our exorbitant taxes go?) Warren excels at inciting class and culture warfare, pitting one group against another.

She is an elitist academic who appears to believe that if she was only in power, she could fix us peasants. It was hilarious watching her make a big deal out of having a beer. I’m surprised she knew how to open it.

Let’s see, who’s left? That slick Joe Biden, who’s got the toothiest fake smile I’ve ever seen. You know, the guy who got his son a commission to the Navy in his 40s, but then he got kicked out after 30 days for doing coke. Then his son got a job paying $83,000 a month in a company that does oil and gas in Ukraine, but it was under investigation. Joe Biden got that prosecutor fired, and then directly afterward, Burisma apologized to the Ukrainian government for false statements that prominent Americans made about their prosecutor. Guess they got their money’s worth. And then Joe bragged about that quid pro quo on camera. It’ll be more back door deals by the establishment, although he is leaning pretty far over to the Left.

The entire Democrat party line is about who to hate: white people, white men, all men, women who don’t want men in their sports or showers, the rich, business owners, women who don’t vote Democrat, blacks who don’t vote Democrat, black women who don’t vote Democrat are especially heinous apparently, gay men who don’t support transgender men going into battered women’s shelters or sports, anyone who believes all immigration should go through legal channels because if you don’t want illegal immigration you’re clearly xenophobic, anyone who says Islam has any room for improvement in any way is an Islamophobe, oh, and of course anyone wearing MAGA must be beaten and left for dead.

It’s just so full of hate it’s toxic. Your value is judged by your skin color and sexual orientation, as well as what gender you feel like at any given moment. All that’s missing is the white hood. Just because the party of the KKK reversed its identity politics scale, it’s still a racist gender biased scale.

The party has changed. I don’t remember Democrats being this hateful when I was a kid. My grandparents were lifelong Democrats, and they never acted like this.

At some level, Democrats must acknowledge that the hate and violence is one sided, because they aren’t afraid to wear clothing proclaiming their support for the most far Left figures they could conceive of. They don’t expect to get assaulted if they wear a Mao shirt, or something about Stalin or Lenin, or feel the Bern, or I’m with “I have a plan for that” Warren.

  5. I deplore how the Democrat leadership has literally blamed Trump for the Iranians homicidal negligence in shooting down the airliner. If it was just negligence. That was more offensive to truth, good taste, and American interests than this cartoon

However, I would agree the cartoon is not good. When the United States is courting the cooperation of half or more of the Arab if not the entire Muslim world, then communications like this can be counterproductive, for thin gain if any.

But it does reveal the reality that our foreign policy is perhaps less important for us at this juncture, than our domestic policy, and the most lethal adversaries are the poison pens and forked tongues out to reduce Trump and all his supporters to ruin. The real war is brewing under our feet.

    1. Thank you, Kurtz. Democrats blamed Trump because Iran mistakenly shot down its own airliner, but they are upset at a Tweet that mocks their support of terrorist Soleimani.

They demand a cordiality they won’t give. And that’s the problem. Republicans just take it and take it and take it. They are not expected to take it, while Democrats are held to no moral standard whatsoever in their own statements.

Blaming Trump for the deaths of all those innocent men, women, and children on that plane is reprehensible. Trump made them do it?! That’s not a difference in humor. That’s abhorrent. Then there’s all the racism and misandry against white males. The hysteria over the Tweet is hypocritical.

I agree with you that the Tweet is not helpful. It was also clumsy at satire. The Iranian people are not all on the same page with the regime after the downing of that aircraft. The Tweet doesn’t lump them in with the regime, but rather Muslims in general. And I’ve never seen an Iranian man wear that.

      1. First of all, Karen, the airliner was UKRAINIAN, not Iranian. It was hit over Iranian territory, but it was a Ukrainian ship. Secondly, it was accidentally hit as part of the rocket strikes to retaliate against Trump ordering the assassination of Soleimani. Trump started this battle, and it was totally foreseeable that Iran would retaliate in the form of air strikes. It was also foreseeable that innocent people might get killed, but the Iranians took care not to kill American troops,. This would not have happened if Trump didn’t order that stupid strike against Soleimani as a diversionary tactic to steal headlines from his impending impeachment. Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister places blame on Trump, which is where it belongs. Fallout in the form of deaths to civilians is the reason that Bush and Obama did not go after Soleimani. Did Trump think that the Iranians would do nothing after he had their military leader assassinated? He was hoping for the support of the American people, which he does not, never has had, and never will have. 56% of Americans see through this latest charade. This was a desperate attempt to improve his polling as part of his campaign.

No Democrat has supported Soleimani. That is another deceitful Fox News talking point. Opposing Trump unilaterally ordering the assassination of a foreign military leader on foreign soil does not equate to support of terrorists. He had no authority to do this, and has lied about there being an IMMINENT threat. At least the Iranians came clean after initially denying responsibility, which is more than Trump has done with his lie about the IMMINENT threat.

There’s a huge difference between satire and Islamophobia. It’s like portraying black folks eating watermelon. It is meant to be demeaning. The photo is saying that Muslims are bad people. You Trumpsters don’t know or understand the difference between satire and racism, and don’t care because you are true believers. Nothing Trump does is wrong to you, and you have some cute explanation or pivot to divert away from the ongoing evidence of his emotional and ethical lack of fitness.

        1. Ya think Natacha might have a set of macros she uses to compose these shrewish 4 paragraph rants?

        2. Natacha – the vast majority of the passengers were Iranian. Thus, Iran shot down its own civilians, on a flight from Tehran. Do missiles go in reverse? The excuse that they thought it was incoming is weird. I won’t bet on a truthful investigation.

“The photo is saying that Muslims are bad people.” Exactly how did the photo say that all Muslims are bad people?

        3. Natacha says: “Trump started this battle.”

Oh! So, what do you call four decades of Iran and its terrorist proxies targeting American civilians and military personnel? What do you call 52 U.S. diplomats and citizens held hostage for 444 days? What do you think Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah—founded, armed, trained and funded by Iran—conducting two suicide bombing the U.S. Embassy in Beirut killed 17 Americans and the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut killed 241 Americans was? How about Iran—in violation of international law—mined the Persian Gulf and a mine struck the U.S. Navy guided-missile frigate USS Samuel B. Roberts, injuring ten sailors? Precisely what was Hezbollah terrorists—with Iranian backing and support—attacking U.S. military forces housed in the Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia killing 19 Americans and wounding 372? Why in the world did a U.S. judge order Iran to pay $6 billion to the families of 9/11 victims for supporting the hijackers? I guess Iranian-backed Shiite militias in Iraq killing hundreds of U.S. service members and civilians was nothing. Did not Iran provided training and material support for repeated attacks on U.S. personnel with conventional weapons and missiles, as well as sophisticated IEDs and explosively EFPs. What was imprisoning U.S. citizens on spurious charges and without due process for decades? How about members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Nigeria arrested for planning bombings targeting American- and other Western-affiliated destinations in the country.

And what about these since Trump took office. Iran’s military has repeatedly taken a range of provocative actions against Americans in international waters, including charging American ships at close range as well as the seizure of two naval vessels and 10 U.S. sailors in January 2016. In June 2017, two Iranian backed Hezbollah operatives were arrested for conducting surveillance of U.S. military and law enforcement facilities, as well as airports, in NYC, in preparation for terrorist attacks against Americans. In August 2018, two Iranian agents arrested for surveilling potential terrorist targets in the United States, including Israeli and Jewish targets in Chicago. Iranian-backed terrorist proxies in Iraq launched attacks against the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S. Consulate in Basra. The funding and training for these assaults came directly from Iran.

Not to mention Iran using internal military action both against armed belligerents and unarmed protesters, funding proxy organizations which have themselves started wars, and supporting regimes in other countries which have started wars. As I mentioned earlier, what is directly funding Hezbollah and Hamas along with the objectives attached to those funds? What is manifesting belligerent behavior against Israel with rocket/missile attacks on civilians and the kidnapping of soldiers? Additionally, what is supporting organizations that have also started wars against Lebanese (Hezbollah) and Palestinians and Egyptians (Hamas) in pursuit of increased political power in those places? What is supporting the Assad Regime in Syria, which is fighting a relentless war against those Syrians who would wish to see more democratic reforms in the country?

    1. Nonsensical fallacy. Collusion is not a crime. Wasn’t then isn’t now. That comment falls into the illiterate realm of ‘at about.’

    2. some people like Putin more than the Iranians. personally i think Putin is not quite the demon that the US news has made of him.

of course Iran is roughly in the Russian orbit. so this comment makes zero sense at all.

    3. Not colluding with Putin? Do you mean like when Hillary Clinton paid a disgraced former British spy to get fake dirt from Russian intelligence on her Republican rival, and then that was the basis to spy on his campaign and administration, pushing the false narrative of collusion for years, weakening the entire country and thus doing Russia’s bidding?

Or maybe supporting the Iranian regime which is supported by Russia would qualify.

      1. Karen: you are delusional. Read the Mueller Report. The IG says there was no spying. No “fake dirt”, and HRC did nothing wrong. The Steele Dossier was not the genesis of the Mueller investigation. The Trump campaign DID collude with Russians. In fact, Russians have hacked into the computers of Burisma, probably to plant some false evidence against Joe Biden and/or to delete evidence damaging to Trump.

If anyone weakens the US, it is Trump. Why do you think the rest of the world’s leaders laugh out loud and mock him?

        1. Karen: you are delusional. Read the Mueller Report. The IG says there was no spying. No “fake dirt”, and HRC did nothing wrong. T

The people who supply you with talking points need to give you better ones. Less repetitive and not blatantly false.

  6. Everybody but everybody knows it was wrong……..Except Trump supporters. The one thing that Trump does know what the hell he’s doing.

    1. Your programmer doesn’t speak for ‘everybody’ with or without exception. As a member of the Collective you don’t speak for anybody. It isn’t allowed by The Party.

  7. I don’t tweet but I sent it too my sister and she has a long list on her automatic list.

  8. Maybe to you but this retired soldier depicting them in the garb of those they support should have taken place a long time ago. Besides they are both religious traitors having rejected Catholicism and Judaism. If the shoe fits wear it. Nothing offensive about truth.

This is one of those cases where Trump was behaving like the adolescent he really is. No mature executive would even think of tweeting such an image. Then Trump supporters wonder why mainstream media is so hostile! They are as clueless as he.

      1. He had the support of most Americans around Christmas. The picture of the terrorists in Islamic garb shot his popularity through the roof.

When will the Democrat loving Terrorists move to Iran?

      2. Paul, presidents are supposed to be unifying figures that all Americans can respect. By tweeting an image like this Trump is basically giving his finger to half the country. That’s Trump and that’s his style. It’s dangerously polarizing at a time when our country needs to get past the Culture Wars. Yet Trump, a devotee of Fox News, thinks the Culture Wars are Job #1. That’s why mainstream media can never find the positive in Trump.

        1. Peter – can you point out in the Constitution where it is the duty of the President to be a unifying figure? Abe Lincoln wasn’t.

          1. Not only that but add the fallacy of bi- and cross-partisanship when the system was set up to provide checks and balances not ‘cave to the left.’

          2. A break from tedium to literacy I found the second physics poem.

’Mid the coils and wax and twine,

            Ionize and recombine.

            Oh my darling ions mine!
You are lost and gone forever
            When just once you recombine.

            In the weird magnetic circuit
            See how lovingly they twine,
As each ion describes a spiraldischarge
            Round its own magnetic line.

            In a tube quite electrodeless,
            They discharge around a line,
And the glow they leave behind them
Is quite corking for a time.

          3. Paul, so you’re saying presidents have no obligation to even pretend to be unifying?? Like it’s their job to poke fingers in the eyes of the other party..?

            1. None have been, Peter, since Dwight Eisenhower left office. Gerald Ford or George W Bush might have aspired to be, but the Democratic Party wasn’t going to permit that.

            2. Peter – The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session. He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Trump tried the “unifying” approach and found that it did not work well.
While his job is not primarily “to poke fingers in the eyes of the other party” and the MSM, it’s more like an enjoyable hobby for him.

        2. Paul, presidents are supposed to be unifying figures that all Americans can respect.

Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Lyndon Johnson. The unifying figures everyone can respect.

          1. now that is absurd. Obama did just the opposite, Clinton did what he wanted to do , and LBJ was an out and out war monger who started a war based on the big lie.

          2. Yeah. President Johnson was a unifying figure by his Reconstruction plan which included restoring a measure of states’ rights after the end of the Civil war, albeit with required adherence to the new amendments to the bill of rights, but this was not aggressive enough for the Yankee Conquerors, and they impeached him for it. Unsuccessfully.

            You cant please everyone!

        3. News, NPR, Hollywood, etc. gives the finger to average americans out here in flyover every day now for decades. You just don’t take offense because you dont identify with us.

The “Culture Wars’ have actually been just a culture Slaughter, for way too long…… If the silent majority, middle america, whatever you want to call us, ever starts to truly fight back with a backbone, then you will see a real culture war and it will no longer just be like shooting so many dumb white guy ducks in a barrel.

the moment of clarity when the partisans of the Left learn what a real culture war looks like, may be brief moments, if it ever truly becomes a war. I won’t hold my breath. Been waiting for decades. Trump is fun but maybe a little too little a lot too late.

        4. Mandy Bestinkin that’s your expert, a has been actor, who’s running his big mouth and journalists are quoting him as if he knew something, because he plays a person of authority on tv

that’s your expert of the day peter, it’s all in the news. a guy who’s better known for a movie from 1987 than show that’s been on tv a long time, or so I hear, since I never bored myself watching it

i may have his name a little mixed up, you may be able to correct me

        5. presidents are supposed to be unifying figures that all Americans can respect. By tweeting an image like this Trump is basically giving his finger to half the country.

He’s unified half the country, the other half don’t share his vision for this country and have supported removing him from office by any means necessary. An effort by the way that began before his inauguration and that continues to this day. They should consider it a blessing he’s only giving them the finger, instead of weaponizing the executive branch against them like his predecessor.

    1. Seth said, “This is one of those cases where Trump was behaving like the adolescent he really is. No mature executive would even think of tweeting such an image.”

      True. And it bears repeating.

      1. That is purely your opinion and as such the same charge may be fairly levied in reverse. As any fool knows one tailors there message to the intended crowd. Otherwise how would the left manage to create The Collective or the founders create a well spring of independent educated ‘whole’ citizens and give them s method to change the meaning of ‘whole?’

    2. Seth – and was it mature, measured, and “Congressional” for Democrats to say it was Trump’s fault that Iran shot down its own civilian aircraft and lied about it?

What about all the slurs they call Trump on a daily basis, the constant false allegations. Do Democrats have any standards at all? They are so Machiavellian.
A witty satirical image would have linked Pelosi and Schumer to the regime, not to Muslims in general.

  10. Good for Trump though it bodes ill for our culture in that Trump is doing to Dems what Dems have done to Republicans for decades.

For all of the hatred spewn at Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Bush, all of their Cabinet members, wives and children, and every Vice President from Ford, Quayle, Cheney, their wives, children, Republican leaders in Congress….Trump has not touched the surface of what the Democrat Terrorists have done to our country for decades

    Let it rip, Mr. President

    – from all of the working class Americans that cling to guns and religion

    1. Sure, let’s call other Americans “terrorists.” Very productive. A unifying term.

      1. It is what you get for disparaging blue color working, gun toting, religious deplorables.

Glad to know we piss you off bigly. Go lick your wounds in Tehran

  11. Sorry, Mr. Turley, the Left is almost solely responsible for bringing this fight to the playground. Personally, I’m glad that someone on the Right has finally stopped being polite and forcefully slapped back. The lowest common denominator arena is exactly where the Left has been operating for years. Enough!

  12. Highly Offensive Images ??? Mr. Turley, you have no sense of humor! Leftist are commie / fascist, Who did Hitler love in the middle east? Picture seems holly appropriate.

  13. If they were dressed like Pope Paul und Mother Teresa this would not be on the blog.

    1. David Benson is the God Emperor of Making Stuff Up and owes me forty-two citations (one from the OED, one from the town ordinances and two from the Old Testament), an equation and the source of a quotation, after fifty-nine weeks, and needs to cite all his work from now on. – show me the data global warming that this is based on.

  14. Question the value of comments here. Nobody changes their mind, just lets off steam.

  15. Have you been corrupted by the “pigsty d.c.” environment and overlooked or ignored the nasty comments Pelosi and Schumer have continuously made about our elected President. Yet you criticize the President for responding in a rather comical way to make a point regarding how these elected clowns have reacted to anything the President does or says. I gather you were upset at the reaction the lefties gave you as a result of your testimony before the kangaroo court acting as a House Committee. Calm down professor and see the “pigsty” for what it is.

      1. David Benson is the God Emperor of Making Stuff Up and owes me forty-two citations (one from the OED, one from the town ordinances and two from the Old Testament), an equation and the source of a quotation, after fifty-nine weeks, and needs to cite all his work from now on. – even a retired computer teacher should know the President is elected by the Electoral College.

      2. I can’t find “popular vote” anywhere in the Constitution. That is such a red herring and intellectually dishonest comment. Many conservatives stay home and don’t vote in very, very blue California and NY. Conservative candidates rarely campaign in unwinnable states. So pointing to “popular vote” is like pointing to first downs or total yardage, rather than total scores in football. By the way, Hillary’s margin of victory in the popular vote was greater in LA County and NY City, than it was nationwide. Our forefathers were brilliant. We don’t really want LA County and NYC to thwart the will of the rest of the country.

        1. It has been postulated that Hillary is a brilliant lawyer

For clinging to popular vote as her startegy to win the Presidency, twice, and not electoral college as the US Constitution states, it follows Hillary is the biggest loser and a very dumb lawyer

          1. mjmichaels2 – It has been postulated that Hillary is a brilliant lawyer By whom, the Oracle of Dephi?

            1. the ABA stated as such by bequeathing onto her their highest honor….a rim seat with members lining up to congratulate her

Hillary Rodham Clinton to receive ABA’s highest award
              June 28, 2013
              American Bar Association

The American Bar Association has announced that Hillary Rodham Clinton will receive its highest award—the ABA Medal.

The former U.S. secretary of state and Yale Law School graduate will be presented with the award on Aug. 12 at the ABA’s annual meeting in San Francisco.

“For Hillary Clinton’s immense accomplishments as a lawyer, the strides she made for women both professionally and civically, and for promoting the interests of the U.S. and human rights abroad, she not only deserves this honor, but also the gratitude of the legal profession and the nation,” said ABA President Laurel G. Bellows in a press release.

The ABA Medal recognizes exceptionally distinguished service by a lawyer to the cause of American jurisprudence.

          2. These facts should have been made public. This should have been filtered by a good, well-meaning and honest press, which was the “original intent” of the Founders. Ultimately, the voters decide. The Founders established a restricted-vote republic as the preferred form of democracy. In 1789, voters were generally required to be male, European, 21 with 50 lbs. Sterling or 50 acres. To elect a good government a nation needs/requires good voters. Whoever modified those state vote criteria contributed to the demise of the American republic.

    1. He set the tone during his campaign. He insults, offends and shows the emotional maturity of a eleven year old. He tweets like he’s a hormone-addled teen.

I have no love for the current Congress but this president and his asinine personal behavior of ‘I know you are but what am I’ is just to ridiculous. People are laughing at him. Sad.

      1. You wrote that over at the Hill innumerable times. Yet here you are days later writing the same bitter comment

        sad as fkqk and laughable

        Trump 2020
