The Trump campaign finally succeeded in one of its challenges yesterday to the extent that it was granted a court order for access and a forensic investigation of roughly two dozen Dominion voting machines. The machines are located in rural Antrim County where roughly 6000 votes were initially assigned to President-elect Joe Biden but then corrected and tabulated in favor of President Donald Trump. Four weeks ago, we discussed this controversy and the concern that such acknowledged human error could occur in other districts. The order from Judge Kevin Elsenheimer, however, concerns not the presidential election but a recounting of ballots in a village marijuana proposal.
Even though the challenge by voter William Bailey concerned legalized marijuana, Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani proclaimed a great victory for “BIG WIN FOR HONEST ELECTIONS.”
The actual order concerns a recounting of the marijuana proposal in the Village of Central Lake that passed by one vote. However, it will afford critics the first crack at Dominion machines to justify their claims of tampering with votes.
For weeks, I have been expressing skepticism over the campaign challenges but also criticism of the Biden campaign for opposing such efforts to examine these allegations. There have been unlawful orders and voting irregularities. The problem for the Trump campaign has been establishing systemic errors or fraud that would overturn any of these state elections. There is also the “sticker shock” problem in seeking to block certification of the state electoral votes. Finally, the campaign has been stymied in its effort to gain access to evidence, and machines, in the possession of the election officials.
I am gladdened by the order not because I think that it is likely to uncover any problem. I do not. Rather, polls show that up to 90 percent of Republicans and even a fair number of Democrats believe question the legitimacy of this election. With roughly 74 million voting for President Trump, such doubts are dangerous for this country which remains a virtual powder keg. The best option is greater scrutiny and transparency.
We have had failures of leadership on both sides. President Trump has fueled the anger not by seeking challenges, which is his right. He has field by anger by declaring the election “stolen” and “rigged” and acting officials like Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger the “enemy of the people.” President-elect Biden failed to see that this country’s divisions will not be resolved — even partially — without greater scrutiny. He should have declared immediately that his campaign would not oppose judicial review of any and all election challenges.
Many of these cases have been dismissed on standing or laches or other threshold challenges. This order will assure skeptical voters that access to evidence has been granted. It will not persuade many if no problems are found, but it could persuade some. Otherwise, we will be left with same unadulterated rage from the last four years.
That is why I am gladdened by the order and hope that, to the greatest extent possible, such access can be granted in the future. Otherwise, we are looking at an exceptionally destructive and even dangerous period in our history.
The 2020 election has been totally corrupted and is irredeemable and without remedy.
The 2020 election must be referred to Congress by the electors.

All these electronic voting systems have for decades have been known by many for having fraudulent voting results. I’ve been against the way they worked since the 80’s. Dem & Repub Rino deep state polecats are still fine with it as that’s how they’ve been winning their primaries to win the general.

Fundimentally it does not matter how easy the machines are to hack.
What matters is that the process is structed to assure that any hacking will be caught and punished.
That requires atleast random audits – hand count ballots from machines at random after the election.
That must be a requirement.
Of Biden would not cooperate with an investigation of the voting irregularities because he probably knew about the planned election fraud and approved of it.
Many Trump supporters are not going to accept Biden’s election is legitimate no matter what happens after the machines are examined. There are too many anomalies.
There have been probably hundreds of affidavits sworn out by people alleging outright fraud; dead people voting; disregard for established procedures concerning supervision and observation of vote counting; accepting unverifiable signatures on mail in votes; accepting ballots after statutorily defined deadline dates; and so on.
Then there are the indisputable facts:
Obama got 2.5 million fewer votes in 2012 than he got in 2008. He won re-election. Trump got 12 million more votes in 2020 than he got in 2016. Yet Trump lost.
Republicans expanded the number of seats they control in the House by a net of around 11. Yet Trump lost.
Republicans won every single one of the 27 Congressional races Cook rated as “toss up”. Tet Trump “lost”.
Republicans had to defend 23 Senate seats to Democrats 12. Before the GA runoff, it’s 50-48 in favor of Republicans.
Republicans did not lose any chamber in state legislatures. In fact, they kept all they controlled before the election and added control of both houses in New Hampshire. Yet Trump lost.
Which tells you that a lot of people hate Trump. That’s why he lost.

Although I am not a regular on this forum, I have always been struck by what I felt were well thought out and informed comments. This morning I find myself very disappointed by the tone of many comments. Yes, people are entitled to their opinions.
Still, I get the distinct impression the Trump Derangement Syndrome has so clouded the perspective of many of the posters here that they are unable or unwilling to support the validation of the integrity of this last election. That is perplexing when I witness so much outright fraud taking many different forms in many other counties and states.

You must really not be a regular if you think the tone of the comments today are out of ordinary. This blog has vile commentators.
Instead of calling Joseph Biden the ‘President Elect’, which he is not, since the Electoral College has yet to assemble, you should rather call out the creation of a phony ‘Office of the President Elect’ by the Biden transition team. Such criticism would be more in line with the factual and impartial observations your readers have come to appreciate.

Biden was quite right to stay out of it for a number of reasons.
1. The suits were bunk, the claims about voting fraud were lies. Anything other then opposition to these lies would give them credibility, which would hurt the trust in the vote in the long run.
2. We do not want to set the precedent that it is valid to follow elections with a barrage of baseless suits.
3. Full judicial review takes time, and that would just delay the transition even more, and even put the “safe harbor” data at risk.
4. Suits that are baseless are properly dismissed at the preliminary stage, and the judges are doing their jobs but dismissing them, to keep them alive for the sake of “transparency of the election” would disrupt proper judicial procedures.
5. These suits just tie up valuable judicial time.
6. Adversarial, time constrained, highly partisan judicial reviews are the wrong way to audit the votes.

My golly your another sophomore sophist. Pennsylvania and other states where voter id at the polls was passed 6 or more years ago the democrats immediately got an injuntion and stalled all the way to the United States Supreme Court where it was found Constitutional. The democrats the sought injunctions on differnt grounds and delayed implementation for more years. This year many election laws were changed and immediately put into effect. Then after the votes in the five battle ground states were tabulated the democrats refused to allow a forensic audit, not of the entire country not even the Battleground states but won’t allow a full audit of just five or six counties. If the forensic audit of say Philadelphia found no fraud then I would accept the election results. If some fraud found say, as little as 1,000 ballots then Pittsburgh at least would be audited. Your just want to win at any cost and have no qualms about the methods used. For instance the dismissal of the Pennsylvania lawsuit on the grounds it was not made in a timely manner as specified in the legislation article 77 is incorrect. If legislation is unconstitutional then the question becomes is the unconstituional provision in the legislation SEVERABLE and removed leaving the rest in force. The provision setting time constraints explicitly states the changes if unconstitutional were SEVERABLE for six months, after that they became intrinsic to the entire legislation and if found unconstitutional the entire October 2019 Article 77 is voided and the election laws in effect before would be reinstated. Article 77 would have to be re legislated, voted on, and passed before being in effect. Oh I agree, all I had was Civics classes 60 years ago and am probably wrong but the truth is more important than winning.
In 2019 PA passed Act 77. That purportedly did several things.
First – democrats accepted that PA was a voter ID state. The battle over Voter ID was purportedly over.
In return Republicans allow no fault absentee ballots and some mailin voting – they did not anticipate Covid or 50% of the election being mailin.
Regardless, the republicans got several measures to substantially reduce fraud.
No ballots were to be accepted after 8pm election day.
All mailin and absentee ballots were REQUIRED by law to has a signature – which must be validated AND a PA Drivers license or PA ID # on the envelope. A ballot absent a matching signature and a valid DL# to match the name was to be rejected.
In Philadelphia counters ignored ALL of these provisions – at the direction of the PA supreme court and Gov. Wolf.
These laws should have resulted in a higher than normal rejection rate for PA mailin ballots. And though mailin balloting would still be problematic – mailin ballots do not meet the criteria for secret ballots and can not therefore votes can be induced or coerced.
Still this would have made fraud much much much harder.
Which is why it was ignored.
I do not know that PA legislators will vote to decertify PA. But one should not presume the entire PA republican legislative majority is PISSED. They came to a reasonable compromise with Wolf and democrats – and the democrats LIED.
It will take years to get passed this. I expect that Wolf will be unable to get anything from republicans for the remainder of his term.
In the future republicans have ZERO reason to compromise or trust democrats.

Problem with voter ID is that many states make it hard for people to get IDs, such as very limited DMV hours and locations, and making it hard to get supporting documents. Would you be supportive of legislation and funding to make it as easy as possible to get IDs?

Let’s make a deal V V: Mandatory voter ID with proactive providing them to to all, including the poor, students, sick, irregardless of race and in turn reform on the electoral college to require representative allocation of electors – like Maine and Nebraska – not the winner take all system all other states employ. Given that Kerry needed only 60k votes switched in Ohio in 2004 to win the presidency without the popular vote, this could bite the GOP in the ass and you’d become believers. Democrats have suffered though this nonsense twice in 16 years. Representative allocation could still result in a popular vote loser winning the election, but the odds become much more unlikely.
We might add reform on gerrymandering by requiring non-partisan commissions doing the redistricting instead of the state legislators. This could be mandated for House members and hopefully it would spread to state legislatures. Some states already do this.
If there is reason to believe that the machines’ software were jiggered to favor one candidate or issue over another . . . where have those machines been since the election? Were they under the supervision of the election commissions, or just shoved into a dark closet somewhere? Who has had access in the mean time? If it IS possible to quickly and surreptitiously change the software to achieve a ‘ desired result ‘ on election day, who can guarantee that the malicious software hasn’t been removed? . . . Where is the proof !?
