Hunter Biden’s 7% Solution: Using Addiction to Excuse Corruption

Below is my column in the Messenger on the use of Hunter Biden’s addiction as the final line of defense to corruption allegations. This week, President Joe Biden is continuing to deny that he had any knowledge of his son’s business dealing despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. In the meantime, pundits are insisting that this is really not a story of millions of dollars being sent to the Biden family from foreign sources or the direct use of Joe Biden to shake down (apparently successfully) a Chinese official with ties to foreign intelligence. Rather, it is now portrayed as “a story of a father’s love for his son.” In other words, it is just like “On Golden Pond” if the father and child were working together to extract millions in actual gold from the pond.

Here is the column:

In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1890 story, The Sign of the Four, there is a scene in which Sherlock Holmes prepares to give himself an injection of cocaine in front of a curious Dr. Watson. Holmes explained: “It is cocaine, a seven-per-cent solution. Would you care to try it?” Watson wisely demurred — but the 7% solution has not lost its appeal to others as a diversion.

Last year, I wrote a column suggesting that there was a notable shift among Biden associates and some media figures in addressing the Hunter Biden scandal. In the wake of the release of new evidence of Hunter Biden’s alleged influence-peddling efforts, the Biden team has fully retreated to what I called the “Seven-Percent Solution” to the scandal.

In 2022, I wrote:

“The president and the press have been shifting to a new defense. As the father recently insisted of his son, ‘He fought an addiction problem. He overcame it. He wrote about it.’

“The family and the media have been cultivating the angle for months as they anticipated possible criminal charges. … With possible criminal conduct exposed, all that’s left is the addiction defense.”

One of the most vocal with this recent rollout was former U.S. senator Claire McCaskill (D.-Mo.), who became irate on MSNBC and declared that “Everybody needs to back off!” because Hunter was an addict and “suffering from these diseases.” Of course, such suffering did not prevent him from allegedly shaking down foreign figures for millions of dollars in exchange for access to his father.

The Biden defense team invoked much the same explanation when confronted with a story about a WhatsApp message that purportedly showed Hunter threatening a Chinese businessman with ties to China’s Communist Party if he did not send Biden millions of dollars. He repeatedly referenced the fact that his father was sitting next to him, and suggested his father would be involved in the threatened response if the money was not transferred.

According to testimony made public last week, IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley told the House Ways and Means Committee in May: “[W]e obtained a July 30th, 2017, WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao, where Hunter Biden wrote: ‘I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.’”

This past weekend, there were reports that, after the threatening WhatsApp message was sent, two payments totaling $5.1 million were sent to a law firm and another firm associated with Hunter Biden.

The response from Hunter Biden’s defense team seems telling with its conspicuous absence of an outright denial that Hunter sent the message. His lawyer, Chris Clark, first insisted that the release of the messages “are not only irresponsible, they are illegal.” (He did not explain why a message legally acquired by the government from the cloud account of his client would be illegal to include in the report of a congressional investigatory committee.)

He then added that any “verifiable words or actions of my client in the midst of a horrible addiction are solely his own and have no connection to anyone in his family.”

The 7% solution: It worked for Holmes, and it now appears to be working for Hunter.

The problem with this line of defense, however, is that it runs into some glaring contradictions.

In the first few years of the scandal, Biden associates — and Hunter himself — emphasized that he was a highly educated lawyer with executive-level experience to offer these companies. Back then, he was insulted by the notion that he was unqualified to sit on boards for companies like Burisma. He told ABC News reporter Amy Robach to “say it nicer” when she raised the subject of allegedly using his connections to his father.

Another problem is that Hunter did not appear to have any chemical-based challenge in allegedly maintaining what has been described by accusers as a global, multimillion-dollar influence-peddling scheme. As I noted last year, the fact is you can be an addict or an alcoholic and still be capable (or culpable).

Even more troubling is how members of the Biden family apparently continued to work with him on these deals despite his reported addiction. Before becoming the designated defendant of the Biden family, he was the conduit for millions in revenue, including alleged transfers to other Biden family members.

The Justice Department also appears to have latched on to the 7% solution. Rather than prosecuting Hunter Biden for a felony in lying on a federal gun form, it is sending him into a diversion program due to an addiction that he says he was able to break years ago.

Now, however, he is portrayed as a junkie emailing threatening messages to foreign figures, demanding (and apparently receiving) millions of dollars. It is little more than an elite version of an addict panhandling in Times Square — except that Hunter apparently panhandled effectively in different countries for almost a decade, reportedly using a web of more than 20 LLC corporations and banking accounts.

Hunter Biden’s 7% solution won’t do much to help the public resolve what really happened here — but it may help those in Washington who prefer to discuss addiction instead of corruption.

  1. What is Hunter’s role other than a Foil? He reminds one of a gang’s use of a juvenile to sell their wares to avoid direct involvement in a crime. The downside: he took on a greater persona as the leader and became a liability to the syndicate, exposing all the other members to scrutiny. His slip shod behavior and bravado opened up pathways to breech the syndicates operations to review by authorities, and possible legal consequences. We are now seeing that Paul really does have to pay for Peters actions.

How deep the involvement of others besides the syndicates’ members this goes could now become the question. Do others outside the syndicate members have to worry they may become entangled in an investigation? Bankers, politicians, investors, accountants, contributors, bureaucrats and others should be concerned now that the syndicate has been breached. The crimes could not have gone un-noticed without the support of others outside of the syndicate.
The conclusion of this drama and the rolling nature of evidence may not happen in a timely manner, but it will be concluded with many heads hoisted on their own petard!

    1. Yes, the name that cannot be mention, even though it was under his administration that the Bidens took their criminal racket Intl with his knowledge and support of, is Obama. When all the media talk about Ol “Dad”s time as VP and (some media) all the criminal shenanigans that ensued they never say his name, Obama.

    2. Good points. I’ve always believed that Hunter is the Biden family’s Fredo.

  2. Jonathan: Really? Another column on Hunter Biden? I hate to sound like a broken record but you sound like a broken record. All your unproven “allegations” against the Biden family have disappeared into the ether. But let’s summarize again your claims to see if they stand up under the hard light of day–without the affect of a 7% solution.

During the period in question Hunter was addicted to drugs and alcohol. That might explain why he didn’t remember dropping off his laptop at the repair shop. And what did the hard drive from the laptop reveal. A lot of porno selfies and Hunter romping with young ladies that could have been hookers. You do a lot of that crazy stuff when you are high 24/7. And the emails from the hard drive show Hunter was trading on the “Biden” family name to get lucrative business deals in Ukraine and China. “Influence peddling”? Sure. But none of that was a crime. There is no evidence Joe Biden received any direct payments from his son’s business ventures. And Joe was a private citizen at the time. So even if his son gave his father some money from those business dealings how is that a “crime” or “corruption”? Allegations of “corruption” usually apply to people who hold public office.

Despite a 4 year investigation Special Counsel David Weiss could come up with only the tax and firearm violations. Nothing to back up all your “allegations” of a vast crime and corruption scandal inside the Biden family. As to lying on the firearms registration form that is potentially a felony. But prosecutions are rare ( See 2017 GAO report to Congress) unless in connection with the commission of other crimes. There were none in connection with the Hunter registration form so diversion was the appropriate remedy. No doubt the judge who approves the settlement will find the same thing.

So it appears you and Sherlock Holmes have been high on your own 7% solution. That’s why you came up empty handed. But this doesn’t mean you will give up trying to make political life difficult for Joe Biden in next year’s presidential election. That’s what you get paid to do by your friends over at Fox News. I always say follow the money trail and the motive becomes rather apparent.

But I doubt the little Hunter Biden episode will be uppermost in the minds of voters next year. If “corruption” is an issue next year it will not involve the Biden family. The big issue will be the Donald Trump and his family criminal enterprise. If Trump gets the GOP nomination, which is certainly not assured, we will have ample opportunity to discuss how the Saudi regime engaged in “influence peddling” to get Trump to protect the Saudi Crown Prince from the consensus that he ordered the assassination of a US citizen, the journalist Jamal Khoshoggi. We’ll also get to discuss how Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, left the WH and 3 days later received an infusion of $2 billion from the Saudis to set up his investment firm. That was a bride for Kushner’s work as a WH advisor to protect the Saudi family. That was “corruption” at the highest level of government. And that’s just for starters. When Trump finds himself simultaneously in court in DC, NY, South Florida and in Fulton County, Georgia you can bet we will only be discussing all the crimes of the Trumpster. Hunter Biden will just be a distant memory!

    1. @davidharsanyi
If you don’t believe Bidens are above the law, try writing off hooker tabs on your taxes; banking millions as an unregistered foreign agent; brandishing an illegally obtained gun while on crack, and dumping it next to a high school. See how that works out for you.

    2. It has to be said again and again…..

This slop from Dennis ….the above comment ^^^^^ is exactly what MSLSD brainwashing sounds like ^^^^^

      1. It has to be said again and again….the disciples cannot counter Dennis’s excellent and truthful rendition of facts and well-written analysis with truthful, proven facts or anything else other than punditry…so they have to attack him as brainwashed.

        1. Did Rachel Madcow ever acknowledge to her viewers like Dennis that she flatout lied to them for years….not inadvertently…..but knowingly and ntentionally? How about Morning Joe and Mika? And all the rest of the MSLSD “programming” that was false?
Dennis IS programmed and brainwashed. That’s a fact.

          1. What did Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezski lie about? Specifically…..I want to know.

            1. Russia, darling. Read the Durham report. They all lied. They knew it was lies. There are still lying about it. Doubling down on provable lies still doesn’t make it true.

              1. The Durham Report is an unfunny $6 million joke. Read the Republican Senate Committee Report–listen to what Dan Coats said, view the indictments against the dozens of people prosecuted by Mueller. What has Durham produced? Two acquittals and egg on his face.

                1. How many Trump people were prosecuted for FARA? Answer is 5.
Exact same law Hunter Biden was given total pass.

But you are correct, Durham revealed the actual criminal conspiracy against Trump, that both Obama and Biden were in on, and then Durham issued a report. It is a sick joke, indeed.

    3. If you hate sounding like a broken record, why to you keep serving up the same hackneyed, insipid, shopworn, banal, cliché, uninspired, tedious, jejune, vapid, cut-and-paste, boilerplate drivel day after day after day?

  3. The last six posts on this blog were about Hunter Biden. Turley is obsessed with this. This is in direct comparison to the near silence on the corruption of Trump and Republicans. But this is to be expected from a partisan.

    1. Anything to deflect from 71 federal felony counts on Trump. The crowd that wants “law and order” for Hunter Biden, wants no “law and order” to Trump. Turley has been clear, Trump is above the law, as he sees it.

      1. Fishstick,
        Trump has been indicted.
He is going to have a trial. Due process.
Till then, the news of the testimony of the corruption the whistleblowers are bringing to the table is newsworthy of the Biden admin.

      2. “Anything to deflect “

Yes, anything to deflect. That is all what Fishtales is all about. He lacks the ability to critically analyze what he thinks he sees.

    2. Oh! No! The good professor is pointing out the lame defense for Hunters actions also being carried by MSM re: NYT, and you are crying about it!
Let us see, Trump did get indicted. His trial is scheduled for as early as August or as late as December. The special council is pushing it for December.
      Okay.
      Now what?
Meanwhile more and more mounting body of evidence by whistleblowers of gross corruption in the Biden Crime family, a sweetheart deal that would of landed any of us in prison not named Biden.
Which is more newsworthy and worth our attention?

    3. Speaking of “silence”, read up on 18 U.S. Code § 793 (e) yet Sammy??

    4. Go somewhere else. Turley sees criminality in Joe Biden and he is building a case. You are upset because you have to read about your hero being nothing more than a common criminal.

  4. Oh, the irony. Joe Biden was instrumental in locking up thousands upon thousands of drug offenders for long sentences. I guess he’ll pardon all of those folks too?

  5. Joe & Hunter can keep saying that “He was ‘Framed’ by Drug Addiction” however the crimes committed still happened and are not commuted by the narcotic & psychological association of self-addiction (Like Holmes 7% solution). In fact Hunter may have been doing the Drugs in order to commit the Crimes (To get the nerve to pull the trigger – Get hyped-up for the Tasks)
Hunter: 𝐇𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞(𝐬) it remain to be seen if 𝐇𝐞’𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞.

This reminds me somewhat of what Henry Kissinger said: 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬.
We’ll see if Hunter comes under that missive.

The FBI (Fidelity, Bravery, and 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘) and DOJ (𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞) needs to step-up to the plate, or be dismantled, as another waist of Tax Dollars (Game Over). The Protection Racket of the D.C. Syndicate is 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 – 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞.

  6. One wonders why an individual like Hunter, with only one product (himself), needs 20 companies to do so. The obvious answer would be that he needed to distribute income and hide large payments. Most lobbyists, even if they fail to register as such, do business overseas with one or perhaps two legal entities. The sheer number of companies is a huge red flag. Or should be.

    1. Exactly.

Also, being flagged by more than a few SARs, indicating suspicious banking activities, is considered a lot. Biden, Inc. has over 170 SARs that we know of! Biden’s Treasury department has been obfuscating and protecting his illegal financial ‘activities’ — called money laundering and tax evasion.

It is plainly obvious that Biden, Inc. is a global racketeering operation engaging in bribery, wire fraud, tax crimes, etc, that have national security implications.

It is clear that Joe Biden should be impeached and face a public trial for bribery and treason against the United States.

  7. There once was a man who tried to give a fake twenty dollar bill to a store clerk and he was excused for his transgression because he was high on Meth. Not only was he excused but he was made a national hero. In particular communities he was made a role model for the children and consequently the streets of Chicago run red with blood on every weekend and national holiday. It is obvious that they tell the kids who they should become if they want to get ahead. Then in the next breath they tell you that they are looking out for the kids. If the perpetrators is high no safe space for the innocent is allowed.

  8. Unless you have the exact same DNA, the exact same family dynamics, and the exact same life experiences as another person, you have no idea if you would make the same choices in life. Which is an argument for compassion, not for avoiding responsibility.

    1. If one has the mindset of a crook, one is likely to act like one. If one lacks such a mindset, such crooked behavior is unexpected.

None of the Biden family’s thievery was due to severe depredation of life-sustaining things. They are crooked because that is who they are.

  9. Some read it “last weekend” others in this report [1], p 78:

8/4/17: $ 100K to “Owasco” from CEFC (Confidential Document 7)
8/8/17: $ 5M to “Hudson West III” from CEFC (Confidential Document 7)

The reference to a 7/30/17 WhatsApp message that Hunter asked in the presence of his FVP father “why the commitment made has not been fulfilled” and he wants that resolve tonight before this gets out of hand, doesn’t bring any new insights: Although the documented wire-transfers date back up to ten years, answers to these key questions are still lacking:

    1. Where are the records which show that then-VP has influenced political decisions that harmed US for personal gain in exchange (see AVIC acquisition of Henniges Automotives)
    2. Where are wires from Hunter’s payments to Joe Biden?
    3. Where are books, records, invoices, notes of negotiations, contracts, and agreements, concerning money transfers?
    4. Where are testimonies of the parties involved and those who have direct knowledge of the Biden family’s operation?
    5. What did Hallie Biden, a former school counselor, do for Robinson Walker LLC to receive $ 10K (2/13/17) and $ 25K (3/20/17)?

Apart from the fact that it should be asked here whether VP has been compromised, a “more of the same” discussions about “corruption in DC” doesn’t get us anywhere. Instead, the conventional mindset could be left behind: Why don’t the many federal employees in D.C. put a stop to “corruption”?

Because the case took place more than 14 years ago, many will not remember it: Although she had a different life plan, the former “dead broke” let herself talked round and served for the American people. With so much drive and energy, it can happen that bureaucrats find minor “matters” here and there. A call can be “extremely careless” or “grossly negligent”, but much more important is this: What could have been done seven years earlier to prevent us from all these “matters”?

Two staff members shared their concerns about federal recordkeeping’s are in jeopardy or the use of an unsecured server could be hacked with Director John Bentel who stated: “The mission is to support the Secretary and instructed the staff never to speak of the Secretary’s personal email system again.” In other words: (High level) employees don’t care about “Oath of Office” or “Hatch Act” and expect the same behavior from subordinates. This only works with the tacit consent of the many “big guys” in D.C..

Which brings me to our newly acclaimed hero, IRS Supervisor Gary Shapley, who worked under the leadership of USA David Weiss on Hunter Biden’s tax evasion case, running since ’18. According to his testimony, in summer 2020 [FBI Director Chris Wrey (R), AG: Bill Barr (R)], the end game neared, he noticed unusual investigative steps:

    * Suddenly, multiple levels of approval were required (apparatchiks are extremely good in slow-walking: they send files to all sorts of decision makers and suddenly they are faced with unsolvable disputes over competence),
    * He shared his impressions well before 60/90 days “no investigative election window” to Supervisor that a 20 months investigation was being obstructed as the final steps were blocked.
    * However, the alarm bells should have been ringing when ASUA Wolf on 9/3/20 OEO (for tax evasion?) designated a warrant for Blue Star Strategies (now unter federal investigation because of illegal lobbying on behalf of Burisma) not to approve.

Why did Sharpley keep all this and much more to himself in 9/20?

Just as every coin has two sides, here is the head:

    * Scholars, legal analysts, and pundits can exchange their thoughts about Garland,
    * then after the insurrection indictment is in, they can talk about the Impact and whether Trump will be disqualified for running, and
    * after the Georgia indictment there is such a volume of judicial topics, that “breaking news” will dominate 24/7.

In the meantime Labour-Day-Weekend past: What did Brandon’s puppet masters decide about his public service?

[1] Senators Grassley/Johnson’ Majority report: “Hunter Biden, Burisma, and Corruption: The Impact on U.S.Government Policy and Related Concerns”, released 9/23/20

    1. “1. Where are the records which show that then-VP has influenced political decisions that harmed US for personal gain in exchange ”
Burisma CLEARLY demonstrates official actions that were influenced.
I would further note that while a Jury can decide otherwise, it is sufficient to prove that Others directly personally benefited.

It is still bribery if an official act is performed because of an inducement that benefits another.
If Joe Biden did not personally recieve money, it is self evident at this point that his entire family did.

I would further note that Joe Biden’s own publixly relesed tax returns should about 8M in income in 2017 from LLC’s with no explanation of what that money was for.

“2. Where are wires from Hunter’s payments to Joe Biden?”
There do not need to be. Regardless, there is already evidence of Hunter commingling his finances with Joe, paying expenses for Joe, and giving Joe money.

“3. Where are books, records, invoices, notes of negotiations, contracts, and agreements, concerning money transfers?”
Do you beleive that when a Maifioso hires a hitman to kill someone, that they keepbooks, records, invoices, notes of negotiations, contracts, and agreements, concerning money transfers ? and that if the government does not produce those that murder for hire can not be proven ?

In the Burisma (and other matters). We have “offer, acceptance, and performance” We only have transfer of funds to Hunter, But we KNOW a corrupt offer was made. We know it was acccepted, and we know that it was executed.

“4. Where are testimonies of the parties involved and those who have direct knowledge of the Biden family’s operation?”
There is already plenty of that – and there will be more. Bobolinksi has come forward and testified. One of Hunter’s Chinese targets has been convicted of crimes related to his actions with the Biden’s. The identity of the Biden’s was kept from the jury, but the crime has still resulted in conviction.
There are several other people close to Hunter that are allegedly cooperating.

“Why did Sharpley keep all this and much more to himself in 9/20?”
Because he had nowhere to go. There is a reason this particular investigation has come through the House Ways and Means committee.
The IRS is by far the most restricted agency in terms of sharing information. Sharpley has testified that he took his problems to everyone he was permitted to do so legally without any effect. It was not until it was clear that Republicans would win the house that Sharpley had anywhere else to go.

“* Scholars, legal analysts, and pundits can exchange their thoughts about Garland,”
They can, but ultimately decisions are made by those we elect, and their decisions are most powerfully effected by the perception of the public.
Trust in DOJ/FBI is down to about 14%.

Whether Garland or anyone else likes it or not – the public perceive that the FBI/DOJ is corrupt.
That perception has enormous basis in Fact.

Somewhat missing in the recent allegatons is the FACT that the claim that Shokin was politically corrupt – which no one has found evidence of for the past 8 years, originates with Democrat aligned political groups AND more improating an FBI Task force on Eastern Europe that was managed by none other than VP Joe Biden.

There is ample reason for the DOJ/FBI to be providing Cover for Joe Biden. They have been an active participant in his corruption for a long long time.

They are not merely biased investigators, in many many instances we have the “fox guarding the hen house”

“then after the insurrection indictment is in”

The Trump indictments actually make matters WORSE for DOJ/FBI and Biden.
Despite Convictions in front of bisased judges and juries NO ONE has yet made a case based on evidence that there was an actual insurrection.
The Evidence DOJ used to prosecute proves exactly the opposite. Proud Boys and Oath Keepers came to DC witht he intention of protesting a rigged election.
Their HOPE was that Congress might not certify the election. There was very little planning at all. There was no PLANNING to do anything beyond protest and HOPE that congress would do as they wished. Further there was no expectation that they would succeed.

I have claimed that crossfire Huricane was part of a Soft Coup attempt. We HAVE communications where DOJ/FBI members state their intention to prevent Trump from becoming president. We subsequently have Democrats in congress impeaching Trump for seeking an investigation of Biden Family Corruption.

You have all the elements of a coup. You have people with the power to act using their power for the purpose of removing a legitimate president illegitimately.

You have none of that with J6. There is no plot to install Trump illegitimately. Those attempting to alter the 2020 election results have both a legitimate claim against the election, a legitimate basis to protest and petition government, they engaged entirely in legitimate actions – even if those might have gotten out of hand.
They did NOT engage in illegitimate actions, they did not plan illegitimate actions, they did not bring weapons. The only power they had was to petition government.

Find actual evidence that Trump poltted with the JCS or others in Government to unconstitutionally retain power and you will have something.
But so far you do not.

      You have no insurrection.
You have an election that stinks worse today than it did in 2021. While Ballot fraud has not been proven beyond any doubt – there is still plenty of evidence of that, more importantly there is proof of a MASSIVE conspiracy to rig the election. Those in government conspired together to hide the truth – to censor the truth from the voters, about the Bidens, about Covid, about many many things for the purpose of effecting the election outcome.

That is election fraud beyond any doubt at all. That is precisely what Democrats claimed that Russia was doing in 2016 – except on a far grander scale.

We eschew but can not prevent foreign interferance in US elections – though it is illegal for US polticians to cooperate with foreigners to influence US election.

The WORST possible election interferance is that of the US govenrment.

No election is legitimate when those conducting the election have their fingers on the scales.

It is a violation of the constitutional rights of americans for the FBI and other alphabet agencies to participate in the censorship of americans.

Some of the most repugnant actions of the US government were the silencing and imprisonment of Eugene Debbs over a century ago – again by democrats, and again using the espionage act. The efforts 40 years later of Sen. MacCarthy and many others – again conspiring with private interests to censor and blacklist “communists” is another dark part of american history. What is occuring now is worse.

Wilson sought to silence a fringe political voice that was an irritant, not a threat of any kind. What we have today is Democrats using their power in government to silence almost half the country for the purposes of maintianing their own political power.

Lets be clear – the censorship of political expression, the participation of social media, the press, the DNC, the Biden campaign, the alphabet agencies, the democrats int he house and senate, the impeachments, the former intell officials

All of this is part of an ennormous election rigging conspiracy. ALL of that actions of that conspiracy as not illegal. But all are election fraud and election rigging REGARDLESS, And many of those actions are specifically illegal and unconstitutional , and nearly all are immoral and unethical.

While there was no insurrection on J6 – there absolutely was Election rigging that J6 protestors had an absolute right to protest.

Further while that election rigging MAY not have crossed the threshold nececary for the people to resist BY FORCE – it certainly came close, and to many it passed that threshold.

I would suggest reading the littany of claims that our founders levied against King George – We are certainly approaching that domain of misconduct.

“they can talk about the Impact and whether Trump will be disqualified for running”
You can talk about whatever you want – you will not get anywhere.
      “the Georgia indictment”
Is highly unlikely. Willis is subject to state oversight and GA is not NY. It is unlikely Willis will be permitted to move forward with a baseless case.

      1. John, I already decided that this was a great post but then I saw you ever too frequent error of including McCarthy’s name. You still don’t get it. Check the hearings where McCarthy was not involved. Check the hearings where Democrats tried to prevent witnesses from speaking. Check the news media for missing documents that are unable to be found in the federal archives. Check the missing documents from libraries. Read some of the Venona Project’s transcripts.

        1. SM
I am fully aware of what you are referencing.

          It is a tangent.

You are under the delusion that because Russia posed a real threat – though frankly Russia was not nearly the threat we feared while Communism in our schools has proven a far worse threat – one that MacCarthy correctly was afraid of.

Regardless, that does NOT justify MacCarthy’s conduct.
Nor does whataboutism that many democrats were actively supporting him, while other democrats and republicans were opposing him.

Nor is this specifically about MacCarthy – though it is no accident that the “MacCarthy era” bears his name and is rightfully looked on with derision.

          Regardless you miss the point.

Censorship is wrong even if you are right about those you seek to censor.
Russia was actively spying on the US and trying to steal what we know and gain competitive advantage – just as China is now.

With certainty we should thwart that.
But that does not change the FACT that we should not sacrifice our own principles to do so.

Eugene Debbs was not a good person, now are Neo Nazi’s actual Nazi’s or the KKK, or myriads of other less than reputable people that we MUST still allow to speak.

MacCarthy was correct to be fearful of the consequences of communists in schools. But we do not and should not allow political litmus tests to be a school teacher.

That does NOT however mean that because we allow communists to teach that we also allow them to control the curriculum.

Freedom is ALWAYS hard. Authoritarianism is always easier. It is always easier to use force to tell people how they must live and what they must beleive.
But just because authoritarianism is easier does not mean it is right or that it is superior.

Freedom works best – including the freedom to allow those who hate us to speak – speech that is directly targeted at destroying us.

All the things you fixate on – Venona, etc. are issues. They are important. But the do not change the fact that censorship and blacklists were WRONG.
And that the prior era of censorship and blacklists is named for Sen Joe MacCarthy for good reason.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. There are many things MacCathy was right about.

None change his well deserved black reputation.

I would note that those on the left who would censor today – have had the bad luck (or possibly just the bad ideolgoy) to be near universally WRONG.
          More Wrong than Joe MacCarthy.

But the big deal is not whether they are right or wrong in what they censor. It is that they are wrong in censoring – whether they are censoring the truth of lies.

          1. “It is a tangent.”

No, the tangent is blaming the wrong people for the wrong. That is what you do in this instance, and it is out of character for you.

“Regardless, that does NOT justify MacCarthy’s conduct.”

You have to be specific. As I have said before, McCarthy wasn’t a nice man, but neither were many in Congress that tried to hide the truth and libel people testifying in front of Congress so their views would not be taken seriously.

            “Nor does whataboutism that many…”

This is tangential and need not be discussed because, in the end, McCarthy was right, as were some of the Democrats that said similar things. I am not interested in the political theater, only the manipulation that has led us down a road where intelligent people do not understand what happened during the McCarthy era. [the committee members that libeled some witnesses were Democrats.]

            “MacCarthy era” bears his name”

That is fine, but the idea behind the name should be correct, not wrong, and that is the essence of the discussion.

“Regardless you miss the point. Censorship is wrong even if you are right about those you seek to censor.”

True, but you miss the point. The bad behavior of that type was mostly elsewhere. McCarthy claimed that there were communists in government that should be removed from sensitive areas until shown that they were not threats to America. He did not say they should be fired. You want to include censorship as part of the era. Fine, many were censored, but tell us how that censorship was directed by McCarthy.

Did McCarthy name names? No. Except for one. Welch, for an entire day, demanded names, and McCarthy finally provided one, an associate of Welch who wanted a certain position. He had a questionable history.

Was McCarthy responsible for the Hollywood Ten? No. That happened in the House, and McCarthy was a Senator.

Was McCarthy’s list long? It wasn’t as long as the FBI’s list.

Was McCarthy correct? Yes, and proven so multiple times, the latest by the Venona Project’s open files.

You keep talking but provide no specifics.

“Eugene Debbs was not a good person, ”

McCarthy was not responsible for Eugene Debbs. That is another rabbit hole.

“But we do not and should not allow political litmus tests to be a school teacher.”

Did McCarthy have any school teachers removed? No. This is another rabbit hole.

“All the things you fixate on – Venona, etc. are issues. They are important. But the do not change the fact that censorship and blacklists were WRONG.”

Those things are wrong, but you should focus on Venona because that proved McCarthy right.

“And that the prior era of censorship and blacklists is named for Sen Joe MacCarthy for good reason.”

Tell us, good friend, the specifics and what made McCarthy the spokesman for all these bad things that exist and are not pertinent or part of the argument of the time. Those opposing McCarthy wanted to leave those proven communists in a position to harm our nation. Is your opposition to McCarthy because you want America’s enemies in high positions?

“Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. There are many things MacCathy was right about.”

Yes, but in this, McCarthy was correct 24/7, and you have been wrong continuously except twice per day. This argument is not sophisticated. This is the swill replacing the facts you do not have.

“None change his well deserved black reputation.”

Yet you will not provide proof for such a reputation, and when asked, you will claim your previous disclosures that did not happen except in the most generalized way, which was meaningless.

Stop going down tangential rabbit holes and deal with the issue at hand. Was McCarthy right or wrong? If he was right, what is your problem?

            1. There is never a time in history where those censoring free speech were the good guys.

              1. Within limits, that may be true, but that is true for mislabeling what an individual did and wrongfully tarnishing a person’s name. We learn from history. Abolishing history’s truth is never a time to applaud.

                1. You are addressing two vastly different things, that are not connected.

As I noted before – Hitler does not become a good person because he loved his dogs.
MacCarthy is justifiably condemned for his role in government censorship.
He is not alone, but he is correctly the posterboy for that era’s censorship.

That he did other things – some good some bad, is TANGENTIAL to this.

You can make your case that MacCarthy is wrongly condemed for OTHER actions or that he deserves credit for OTHER actions.
MacCarthy is a bad person. He is NOT satan. I am sure he loved puppies too.

Your efforts to deflect are TANGENTS.
This is not a debate about Russian spying.
Nor about the harms caused by communists in academia.

If you wish to have those debates – go for it. But they do not change the fact that MacCarthy was a very large force for censorship and that he was WRONG.

There is no “But I censored bad people” justification.

Those engaged in political censorship are ALWAYS the bad guys.

                  1. “You are addressing two vastly different things, that are not connected.”

Get it straight, John. There is only one debate I am involved with. You are all over the place. I am sticking to what McCarthy actually did, not all the other topics you bring in as cover.

McCarthy said there were communist agents at the highest level of our government. There were. If you want to accuse him of anything else, then say what it is.

You talk about censorship but entirely forget the censorship occurring against people testifying to the truth of what McCarthy said. Reverse censorship is something you seem to not care about.
                    —
“Hitler does not become a good person because he loved his dogs.”

Tangential and deflection. You provide lots of details involving other people but virtually none involving McCarthy, who is the subject under scrutiny.

                    1. Correct – you are debating something irrelevant. And fundamentally incorrect.

Your attempting to rewrite history regarding MacCarthy – because it turns out that marxist school teachers can do alot of damage and because – news at a 11 – the USSR actually tried to spy on the US.

None of that is new. None was new in the 50’s.

MacCarthy, modern progressive – some evil, different ideology.

Do you think there are NOT some actually dangerous people that the modern left has silenced ?

You can not justify censorship because when you dropped a nuclear weapon you killed a few bad guys along with lots of good people.

MacCarthy did the things you claim AND a whole lot more.

MacCarthy’s infamous Take down By Welch was because MacCarthy attacked a lawyer at WElech’s Firm.

Not someone in the government, not some one in the army.
He did not go after him for being a spy. He went after him for at one time attending meetings of a political party.

There were actual spies though I would note that even the most famous american spies of the era – WEREN’T.
Julius Rosenberg passed information to the Russians. Ethel typed it up.
Neither did any actual spying. I am not looking to exhonerate them – though the Venona Decrypts that YOU raised demonstrated that they (and their whole team) were inconsequential. Contra the governments position at the time – they did NOT provide the USSR with the secret of the atom bomb.

We executed two people, and jails many more for being part of relatively minor espionage.

And that is emblematic of the MacCarthy era – and of NOW.

Except your personal politics – your defense of MAcCarthy is no different from those defending the government efforts to put everyone who walked through the Capitol on J6 into jail for life.

Julius and Ethel Rosenberger were minor players. They were engaged in transefering inconsequential national security information to the USSR. They were not the actual spies, and the actual spies in their “cell” did NOT provide the USSR with anything important.

Yet, we executed Julius and Ethel. Just as left wing nuts would execute anyone who walked through the capitol on Jan 6.

Is it exactly the same – no. But it is a reflection for the same mindset that is both black and white and WRONG.

                    2. “Your attempting to rewrite history regarding MacCarthy”

No. I am reminding people about some of the history surrounding McCarthy that isn’t known and forgotten in common history. Its importance lies in present-day history, as mentioned before.

                      “None of that is new.”

If you knew the history of the era, you might disagree, but you would have facts to show such knowledge. I don’t look at McCarthy with hate or fondness. I look at him as a man mislabeled and at a country that didn’t recognize a problem that caused great harm.

“He went after him for at one time attending meetings of a political party.”

He yielded to the request of Welch, who continuously requested McCarthy release his list of names. McCarthy refused, but at the end of the day, he finally responded and stated that Welch was helping his associate assume a sensitive position in government. McCarthy didn’t ask to release the name. It was a continuous request from early in the morning. McCarthy did not ask that the man be censored, fired, or denied a job. He merely repeated the name and the person’s associations. Rightfully McCarthy wanted employees for sensitive jobs to have security clearance. We do that all the time.

Do you believe we should have communists, possibly spies, in sensitive positions?

I am not arguing about the propriety of Rosenberg’s conviction brought up by you as a tangent.

I am discussing who McCarthy was and what he did. I am not saying he was a nice man, or a bad man, only that the reputation placed on him was ill-deserved. His reputation is based on an out-of-context quote by another and slogans inappropriately utilized.

“And that is emblematic of the MacCarthy era – and of NOW.”

So why place the onus on McCarthy? Why yield to those who were wrong and let them change history to absolve themselves from guilt?

“Except your personal politics – your defense of MAcCarthy is no different from those defending the government efforts to put everyone who walked through the Capitol on J6 into jail for life.”

That is ridiculous and a worthless analogy beneath your intelligence. McCarthy’s reputation was destroyed, like those arrested on Jan 6. The powerful in government changed history to put themselves in a better light.

You are too invested in not being wrong.

                    3. I am sure Joe MacCarthy liked his dog too.

                      History has judged MacCarthy.

I would note that MacCarthy was judged in his time by the same people who executed the rosenbergs.

While we have better information today – The resoenbergs were inconsequential and Alger Hiss actually was a spy.

That information changes details – and not all in MacCarthy’s favor. It does not change the judgement of history.

MacCarthy deserves the reputation he has. And the modern censors deserve one much worse.

And that is the point. That is What I am asserting.

I am not debating it – you are. I do not owe you a debate on this.
As noted history already judged MacCarthy correctly – I do not need to defend history in detail.

You HAVE produced and I could add more details in which MacCarthy was not entirely wrong.

That does not justify his actions.

Nor does the fact that SOME of those modern progressives target – not many, but some are very bad people.

                    4. “MacCarthy deserves the reputation he has. And the modern censors deserve one much worse.
And that is the point. That is What I am asserting.”

You are playing games again. You are hiding from your statements on McCarthy. You don’t have the requisite information to defend your point of view, so you pretend to change the subject hoping the change permits you to leave without admitting you are wrong or don’t know.

It is of little importance, except history told us how things happen, and what we saw on Jan 6 wasn’t much different when some decided to stain McCarthy and not pay attention to the facts. McCarthy was right and deserved to remembrance as a person who tried to defend America. His likeability is not a topic of concern.

            2. SM
I am not playing this game.
As I said it is a tangent.
I am not ignorant of the Russian spying efforts.
I am not ignorant of the actual Russian spies.
Nor am I ignorant of the harm that communists – which is NOT the same as russian spies have posed to this country.

We will do not censor people based on ideology. As Brandeis got right a century ago the remedy for bad speech is more speech not enforced silence.

If macCarthy’s focuss has been rooting out actual russian spies – instead of finding communists under every bed and silencing them – he woudl be favorably remembered today.

I sometimes cite Brian Stevens “Each of us is not the worst thing we have done in our lives” and this is to an extent true.
Hitler was vegitarian and loved dogs. That does not alter Histories condemnation of Hitler.
You can provide myriads of examples of Russian Spies, even of MaCarthy actually trying to do somehting about that.
It does not change the fact that those censoring free speech are NEVER the good guys.

I also noted – what should be no surprise, that MaCCarthy’s tactics served persona benefit having nothing to do with his alleged fight against communism.
He was perfectly willing to move to other targets if the current target gave him something he wanted – often having nothing at all to do with his fight against communists.

Finally, you seem to be fixated on defending MacCarthy – for no good reason. I have no doubt that he is not solely guilty of everything he is being accused of.

That does not change TWO things.

MacCarthy is not one of the good guys. He is one of the bad guys.
The villians in the era that take his name go well beyond MacCarthy himself, and include many democrats and republicans.

A few players are rapidly becoming the posterboys for the current mess. Hillary, Comey, Garland. Schiff.
Are they responsible for EVERYTHING ? No. Is ablsoutely everything each of them did corrupt – no.
But I am crying no tears for them.

In a separate arena, Biden may manage to go down as the most corrupt president in US history.
That is with certainty false. At the same time – he has gotten publicly caught – and I am shedding no tears for him.

I beleive that Republicans – whether the eventual Republican president, or even Just the House NOW, should offer immunity, or pardons for everyone involved in the current mess.

With a single proviso – coming forward and testifying fully publicly and honestly. Technically Congress can not pardon. But the courts have already found that a congressional offer of immunity in return for testimony is binding.
Regardless, it is simple – Tell the truth – about EVERYTHING, in public and you will not be prosecuted. Do not and there is no deal.

To a large extent Hunter is already in that position. Because of his plea deal he can not take the fifth.

              1. “I am not playing this game. As I said it is a tangent.”

But you are, and you created the game. The subject is McCarthy and the blame you think McCarthy deserves. You refuse to list specifics, but you will deflect to a tangential such as:

A discussion on whether or not you are ignorant, which includes one paragraph and three sentences. “I am not ignorant of the Russian spying…”

Then an onslaught of off-topic discussion, all tangential meant to deflect.

“Brandeis got right a century ago …”
                “If macCarthy’s focuss has been…”
I sometimes cite Brian Stevens “Each of us
“Hitler was vegitarian and loved dogs. ”

                Then you proceed with filler:

“I also noted – what should be no surprise, that MaCCarthy’s tactics served persona benefit having nothing to do with his alleged fight against communism.”

Take note; you don’t delve into specifics so that one can respond. All you do is make a generalization that can be true of everyone in Congress. That is not the subject.

“Finally, you seem to be fixated on defending MacCarthy – for no good reason.”

Things are backward. Data is missing. Witnesses (for McCarthy’s side) were not permitted to speak. Witnesses were intimidated and subject to libel. When things of this nature happen, there is a good reason to speak out, just like those who argue Jan 6 was a sham.

“MacCarthy is not one of the good guys. ”

You provide empty rhetoric. McCarthy was right. Are you claiming McCarthy was wrong?

You continue with empty rhetoric, but as usual, you lack the specifics of what you are complaining about. You do not know.

Then you return to your deflections and tangential arguments.

“MacCarthy is not one of the good guys. …”

Yet, despite the empty rhetoric, you still do not provide on-topic specifics. Instead, you furnish even more deflection, tangential, and filler.

                “Technically Congress can not pardon….”
                “To a large extent Hunter…”

However, with all the words you speak and all the replies you post, you never provide specifics about the topic under discussion.

                1. The subject is not MacCarthy – it is censorship – particularly political censorship.
MacCarthy was an example. YOUR fixation on details discovered long after does not change anything.

Just as it does not change anything if some of those progrssives have targeted are actually bad people.

                  1. “The subject is not MacCarthy”

Try rereading the earlier responses. We don’t have a problem with censorship. Our problem has to do with the erroneous views you hold of McCarthy.

Below is my first response. It is clear, McCarthy was the subject.

“John, I already decided that this was a great post but then I saw you ever too frequent error of including McCarthy’s name. You still don’t get it. Check the hearings where McCarthy was not involved.”

Your fixation is on Hitler being vegetarian and loving dogs.

  10. If you listen to addicts, they are always the victim. They never mention that first step when they illegally or legally obtain the drug that they will eventually become addicted to. You know those drugs that have no real medicinal use for the addicted individual and that your teachers, parents and just about everybody else warned you that you should not take because it had highly addictive properties.
The victims are the wreckage of family, friends and colleagues that you actually betray, embezzle and steal from in the quest for your drug. Addictive personality or not , no sentient human being can truthfully say “well , I really did not know it could do this”. Really ?
Cocaine was actually used as a spray in the mid 1970’s for some ENT procedures and also to numb the throat when a person would have a bronchoscopy (looking down into your lung by way of the throat and trachea) but was rapidly ditched because of the rising use on the “street” and because it had a bad habit of suddenly killing you with a first dose. That was driven home to me when a patient whose throat I was spraying complained of the weakness of the preparation of topical cocaine we were using. He said he could get stronger doses on the street right outside the medical center. Lidocaine soon became our drug of choice. No real street value.
Hunter’s father is an enabler (not a loving father) and used his son for his own nefarious rewards and seemed to not care too much about his son’s addictions until he became a liability, and the “good son” had died.
Also you do not overcome addiction, you are always an addict or an alcoholic. It’s just whether you are taking your drug or not.

  11. I wonder what disaster will be manufacturer in DC to cover this all up and divert our attention? This is getting too serious for them to ignore.

  12. Yep.
Someone even suggested “they”, whoever “they” are, forced Hunter to take drugs for plausible deniability.
That, is how desperate “they” are becoming.
Had “we” committed the same crimes as Hunter has, we would already be serving time in prison.
This is how the two tiered justice system works.

  13. Hunter’s drug addiction sure didn’t slow down Joe Biden’s international shake down operation that’s for sure. It worked like a charm ! Just pimp out your son out with you on Air Force Two and the money rolls in ! Hunter’s drug addiction was always the Biden family’s fall-back plan in case their shake down operation was exposed. Just claim it was a “medical issue”, claim you never knew anything, and Joe walks free. Sound about right ?

  14. The story about the WhatsApp message reminds me of a joke in my mom’s family. My grandfather was a high school English teacher. Some student was playing hookey and when the school secretary phoned home to check with a parent the kid answered, “This is my father speaking.”

  15. “[T]he addiction defense.” (JT)

Playing us for suckers (yet again):

“In the present cultural era, victimhood is almost a status symbol, assuming you’re the politically or otherwise “correct” type of victim, of course. There are a lot of people out there who are, quite frankly, suckers. Their hearts bleed for the tale of a victim, and they don’t think critically about what the person claiming victimhood is saying. “I was wronged,” the victim will say. The suckers will reply, ‘How awful. How mean people can be!’” (https://drhurd.com/2011/07/18/the-pleasure-of-being-a-victim/)

  16. Conservatives had no problem whatsoever when Rush Limbaugh hired ACLU affiliated attorneys to avoid prison time.

Back then Conservatives viewed drug addition as a disease which justified Limbaugh’s law breaking. This is just Team Sports only used against the opposing team.

      1. But Peter Shill’s multiple sock puppets are very much alive, though xis/xer cerebral cortex is dead. When you are going to respond to your very own comments albeit using different sock puppets, at least wait more than 6 minutes. Sheesh!

said one Peter Shill sock puppet troll to the other:

I Wish I Knew How To Quit You!!!

        😜

    1. @Reagan’s Unenforced Torture Treaty
The difference is that Limbaugh’s addiction led him to get narcotics illegally. He never claimed addiction led him to extort millions of dollars in bribes from foreign governments. Is that really the best you can do?

        1. Yah know, it never seems that a day goes by without some anti Turley lefty has to post something, everyday. It’s like whenever the dims get in power if they find something that gives you pleasure, they want to take it away from you. Like natural gas for cooking, heating and hot water. Why don’t you people just go someplace else.

          1. Who wants to take things away? Who is advocating for librarians and teachers to be put in jail if they give their kid a book they don’t approve of? Who is closing pregnancy centers if they dare talk about abortion? Who wants to reduce school lunches for poor kids. Who passed a law making it illegal for a doctor to talk to their patient about abortion if the pregnancy has complications that could hurt the mother? Who passed a law to make it illegal for a worker to report animal abuse of their employer?

            1. Bob, tha’ts an interesting list. In the ‘wow none of that is true’ kind of way. No law exists for jailing Liberians curating of content. All the rest, are just the same. Radical leftists talking points, devoid of facts

            2. The big guy has recently said he would like stop us from using natural gas for heating, cooking and heating hot water. They want to force us to use electric cars. I generally keep my postings brief, so I will stop here.

            3. “Who wants to take things away?”

Are you crazy, Bob? When your mom took your bottle away, did you impune deranged motives? I hope not. Librarians choose a small number of books from the substantial supply. If they are proven to be grooming children illegally, they go to jail, but they are selecting appropriate books, just like your mom when she took your empty bottle away.

Every one of your comments demonstrates a confused mind that cannot discriminate between things needed, and those that are illegal.

          2. Independent Bob,
I dont think they can help themselves.
The Biden admin is a hot mess.
No matter what they claim, inflation is real and it is hurting the lower 90% of the economic class. Even the middle class is feeling it.
Crime is running rampant. Mostly in soft on crime DAs, no cash bail, and other failed Democrat policies in Democrat ran cities.
People are fed up with having woke ideology forced on them and pushing back.
People see the corruption and are angry of having it flouted in their faces of a obvious two tired justice system.
A recent study showed Americans were very depressed.
Another showed Americans feel the Biden admin could not handle a real crisis (see inflation) and are actually preparing for anything from economic collapse, to a EMP strike from Russia, China, NK, Iran, to a zombie apocalypse.

So, leftists have to come to the good professor’s blog in a futile attempt to . . . whatever.

              1. Independent Bob,
More things of interest that leftists prefer not to be spoken,
Deutsche Bank analysis shows 24% of Bud Light drinkers no longer purchase the brand and another 18% are purchasing less of the brand.
Another swimmer has come forward and said she changed in a janitor’s closet rather than in the changing room with biological male “Lia” Thomas present.
Food supermarket Giant Food is announcing it is closing DC city stores over theft and violence.
At a Seattle pride event, kids were encouraged to throw foam bricks at GOP lawmakers and conservative justices on the Supreme Court.
Governor Whitmer of MI needs a commission to tell her why there is a exodus of residents leaving MI.
Disney spent $2.75b on 8 movies in the past year and is expected to make only $1.86b at the box office. While they may have gotten good reviews, the injected wokeism is what drove people way. Go woke, go broke!

                1. Correction: Throw foam brics at pictures of GOP lawmakers and conservative justices on the Supreme Court.

            1. “The Biden admin is a hot mess.”

You miss the point of the term “hot mess.” There needs to be something irresistibly attractive, even though everyone knows something’s wrong. Think Lindsay Lohan, Shannon Doherty, or Nadia Lockyer. The Bidens and the Administration are more of a sloppy, stinky mess.

    2. “Conservatives had no problem . . .”

I guess some don’t know the meaning of ad hominem. Or worse, they do.

    3. I find it interesting that many of those on the right yell and scream about hunter and his laptop and all the money he made off his fathers name, but remain silent when it comes to all the lies and deal making trump did. Trump owned a hotel where foreign nationals stayed while he was president, a clear violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution. Trump tells his supporters to fight like hell to keep him in office, and they did, even trying to kill the VP and the Speaker of the house. But hey, it was only words and you know, free speech and all. Trumps daughter and husband made how much money off the Saudis? Trump took classified documents to his Mary a logo castle and JT says the government didn’t ask nice enough or give him enough time to send them back. Yea, JT loves his free speech doesn’t he, just depends on who’s doing the talking I guess.

      1. a clear violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution.

Except a legal case making that claim never made it to trial….because it is not covered by the emolument clause.

      2. Trumps daughter and husband made how much money off the Saudis?
        .
You are too stupid to realize what you don’t know.

The proper question. How much money did the Saudis make off of Trumps daughter and husband? Saudi invested money with expectations of a return on the investment. Transactions like that happen millions of times a day across the globe.

        1. This is ridiculous. This “return on investment” is the money paid to the Trumps giving the Saudis an advantage that they would not get. Corruption and bribery does not become magically OK if it works.

          1. All the knives….and we mean ALL the knives…..were out to GET Trump and “nail a crime” on everyone in Trump’s circle….to pin anything on them.
Why has nothing been pinned on Kushner? Because, as you (incorrectly) insist about Hunter Biden and Joe Biden, Kusher did nothing wrong or illegal. That’s why.

          2. And!!! Trump was one of th BEST presidents this country has ever had….one who actually worked FOR the best interests of this country and our people, as opposed to AGAINST it.

            1. “Trump was one of th BEST presidents this country has ever had”

Why do so many of his closest advisors disagree with you? I mean people really close. Like those that worked in the White House during his administration. There are a great many that say trump should not be allowed any where near the White House.

You have your opinion, I have mine. IMHO, Trump will go down as among the bottom 2 or 3. Time will tell. Under Trump, the capitol building was attached with his supporters wanting to hang the VP and Speaker of the House. He encouraged them to take this action. Just ask the people convicted of ransacking the Capitol. A great many say they did this because Trump told them to.

The Republican Party no longer exists. It is now the Trump Cult Party. Let’s see how many states the R party carries in the fall of 2024.

              1. Dear Baby: you are SO right. Look at the economy–he inherited a successful, booming economy from Obama, which he proceeded to trash spectacularly. He drove the national debt to a record level by tax breaks mostly benefitting the very wealthiest corporations and individuals. Biden has brought that down by several trillion. When he couldn’t bully the Chinese, he imposed tariffs–not understanding that this increase in the cost of doing business is passed along to the American consumer–this caused an increase in the cost of imported goods and shortages of such goods and computer chips, which helped drive inflation. Then, he deliberately lied about the pandemic–downplayed it (Bob Woodward has the tapes to prove it–he admitted lying about it), pushed fake cures, and caused Americans to doubt the integrity of our public health scientists because they wouldn’t back up his BS, resulting in unnecessarily prolonged shutdowns of schools, businesses, restaurants, etc for about 2 years, no leisure travel, and unemployment went to 10%. An estimated 130,000 Americans died of COVID unnecessarily due just to Trump.

Biden brought unemployment down to the lowest level in 50 years, got us back to work, got schools and businesses open again, and passed the Chips Act and Inflation Reduction Acts. The economy is growing, inflation is going down, gas prices are steady and leisure travel is at record levels. Then, there’s his trashing of our EU and NATO allies, he tried to get Russia back into the G-7, and sided with Putin and against our own intelligence agencies. Biden fixed that, too, and Finland has joined NATO. You covered the insurrection, brought about by Trump’s serious mental illness–narcissism–he will NEVER shut up about being “cheated” out of his “landslide victory”. The damage he has done to this country is incalculable–not to mention the Republican Party, which is now the party of a cult. Lincoln, Eisenhower and Reagan must be rolling over in their graves over what this person has done to their party.

                1. There was PEACE and PROSPERITY during 4 years of Trump.
Biden TRASHED every last bit of it. War, inflation, BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of US dollars going to Ukraine with zero accountability, a blatantly corrupt lawless DOJ, etc. — EVERYTHING is out of control in Biden’s America.

                  1. Anonymoous–NO there wasn’t “peace” or “prosperity”, other than at the beginning before Trump made a total mess of everything. The only fair way to assess the situation is to look at where Biden and Trump started. Trump started with prrosperity–ended up with a pandemic out of control, daily records for deaths and new infections, the worst recession since the Great Depression, alienation of our EU and NATO allies, national debt at record levels, schools, businesses and restaurants closed down, no leisure travel, and inflation spiraling due to shortages of consumer goods and computer chips. This is the hot mess Biden inherited, which he turned around in record time–now, record unemployment, inflation under control, economy growing, mended relations with EU and NATO allies, supply chain broken by Trump’s stupid tariffs and trade war fixed, CHIPS Act, Inflation Reduction Act ($35/mo cap on insulin), Infrastructure Act and Debt Ceiling Act passed. The Infastructure Act will create thousands of good-paying jobs. Biden got COVID under control by marshaling the assets needed to get vaccine into arms–something Trump neglected to do because he ignored Obama’s pandemic playbook. Trump brokered the disasterous deal with the Taliban–drew down troops from 14,000 to 2,500, turned loose 5,000 Taliban, didn’t arrange for any air or land base, all setting the stage for the difficult withdrawal that Republicans are trying to blame on Biden.

I forget–WHAT war is the United States fighting right now? What is the “everythng” you claim is “out of control” in America and just HOW is this Biden’s fault? And…most Americans favor supporting Ukraine’s resistance to Russian aggression.

                    1. There most certainly was peace — in the world and in the middle east — during Trump’s presidency. That’s why Trump was nominated 3x for the now utterly worthless Nobel Peace Prize.

There was not peace here at home, however, as the political and media establishments went to war against Trump, before he was even inaugurated, and they sent their brownshirt antifa BLM thugs out to destroy and burn cities, smash businesses and assault cops, as the Democrat Party cheered them on and bailed them out and the corrupt DOJ never did a dam thing to stop it.

                    2. More than 75% of voters believe the country is going in the wrong direction! The country does not support Biden, or his anti American, America-last, absurd woke nonsense.
Biden and Democrats are literally corrupting and destroying every institution as well as our constitution.
The geopolitical world is realigning in ways that make America far less safe. ALL of the chaos and uncertainty in America and America’s foreign policy world right now is Biden’s doing and Biden’s responsibility.

                2. Do you ever see anyone wearing Biden/Harris paraphernalia? Biden hats? Biden shirts?

You know, other than the hats and shirts that say FJB and Let’s Go Brandon?

Makes ya wonder….as Trump points out:

President Trump: “you know, for a guy that got 80 million votes…nobody’s ever seen anyone wearing a Biden hat!”😂

                  1. You make a point, but not the one you think you are making. The non college educated whites who are part of Cult 45 think they are fighting the good fight in some culture war against CRT, migrants, educated women and blacks, against LGBTQ peoiple and against wokism–whatever alt-right media define this to be. Regardless of how much or little American voters love or don’t love Biden, they’ll take him over Trump any day of the week because Trump is unfit for office, he has proven he cannot lead this country into anything other than one disaster after another, and he is emotionally immature, a liar, a womanizer, a racist, a xenophobe and panders to prejudices. He cavalierly flashes around our most-precious national secrets like a trophy, lies constantly and goes on childish rants. He has no viable agenda–proven by the fact that his only legislative “achievement” was to get passed a tax break mostly benefitting the wealthiest corporations and individuals Americans know a bad thing when they see it. So, Biden supporters don’t go around with MAGA hats or the other Trump paraphernalia–but this has nothing to do with whether Biden would beat Trump–he will if these are the two candidates.

                    1. I smell smoke, are your pants on fire?
You lie like an oriental rug.

                  2. Yep, proves the point that it is the Trump Cult Party. Thank you for pointing out how nuts trump supporters are.

                3. If only Trump had taken his own COVID advice. Swallowed an object that emitted a strong light along with some bleach. At least one person did follow his bleach advice. Can’t remember if he died or not. If he didn’t, probably wished he did.

                  1. yeah Baby, we’re in much better shape with this illegitimate traitor in the white house….not.

                  2. Are you one of the nutcases that believes the President was advising people to drink bleach?

                4. Look at the economy–he inherited a successful, booming economy from Obama,

Gigi, are you soooo stupid you believe what Obama told you?

That “booming” economy? 1.6% GDP.. Which takes some serious talent. Economist don’t agree on much. But they do agree that the deeper the recession, the steeper the recovery. Obama worked really hard to keep the poor, poor, by enacting policies that hindered economic growth. vs President Trump that did more to lift minorities out of poverty than any President, ever.

              2. “…the capitol building was attached with his supporters wanting to hang the VP and Speaker of the House.”

Good point….gee….we haven’t heard if the stellar investigative work of Chris Wray’s FBI has found the protestors who built the gallows in front of the Capitol…..or whether the stellar work of the FBI has found who set the pipe bombs there at the DNC headquarters…..hmm…..ya just gotta wonder….why not?

                1. @TheLastRefuge2

The J6 pipe bombs were the insurance policy, in the event they couldn’t get the crowd to comply with the FBI provocations. If no one stormed the Capitol, the finding of the pipe bombs would have been the emergency needed to stop the process.

                    1. It was a Fedsurrection, Baby.
The truth will continue to come out.

          3. This is more of a partnership than anything else. The Saudi’s and Kushner have a partnership type investment in this venture.

Perhaps that tiny mind of yours can tell us specifically what is wrong with partnerships that are created everywhere?

          4. “Corruption and bribery does not become magically OK if it works.”

But Sammy can’t say what the corruption is. Everyone can tell you what Joe Biden’s corruption is. Why are you such a failure?

    4. @Reagan’s Unenforced Torture Treaty: RE:”Conservatives viewed drug addiction as a disease which justified Limbaugh’s law breaking.” First: That statement begs being supported by incontrovertible fact. Second: Limbaugh’s addiction was, like so many others, ensued from the unrestricted employment of prescribed oxycontin in post-operative pain management. A medical and socioeconomic disaster which has already been addressed at law. The aforementioned is hardly a parallel with the moral and ethical turpitude of the likes of Hunter Biden whose contribution to the good and welfare of the human condition is best described as useless. This is a life and, what is beginning to be seen as the lives of his entire family, motivated by nothing but personal gain at the expense of the nation and the world, perverting everything it touched, or touched it, willingly or not.

      1. ZZ, it is not unusual for the left to become confused between a person who willingly accepted addiction and one who became addicted due to medical circumstances and inadequate medical supervision of addictive substances. Their ideology has killed their intellect, and they are unable to distinguish between the two.

    5. “This is just Team Sports only used against the opposing team.”

Limbaugh was targeted by an overzealous Democrat prosecutor.

Limbaugh committed no theft, fraud or any other crime that affected anyone but himself. You and your type will let murderers out of jail and onto the streets so that they can murder again before their trial date ever appears.

What type of person does that make you?

    6. Hey!
Isn’t Biden supposed to be the gun control, common sense gun law president?
      Oh!
Unless it comes to his own son.

  17. The Dems have been using the same defense for the looters, shoplifters and gang-bangers that are taking over our nation. I’m going to see the driver of a car causing a deadly crash to defend by claiming he was drunk at the time.

    1. This exactly. No crime, Hunter was under the influence. Dear old Dad was just there at the business meetings to talk about *some* of the grandchildren.

    1. @Wen Bars
Good old Alzheimer’s Joe. Always good for a moment of unintended candor.
