A massive walkout in New York schools is planned for today in support of a ceasefire in Gaza. Chancellor David Banks is being accused of threatening teachers about the protest and warning that they may be subject to discipline in some circumstances. The school system appears in a muddle given its past support for walkouts. My interest in the controversy is not the merits of the ceasefire but the incomprehensible policy being enforced by school officials in choosing what protests they will support.
A flyer for the event advertised “100+ high schools and school communities” will be joining the mass demonstration with the participation of many teachers.
I previously criticized the school system for its biased approach toward supporting certain protests while opposing others. For example, the New York school system previously gave 1.1 million students leave to join protests on climate change. At the time, I asked if the school officials would show equal support for other protests or whether they were simply encouraging protests that they supported.
The response to this protest is clearly different from the enthusiastic support given past protests. Banks sent a warning to teachers who will be joining this protest that they can face discipline if it “disrupts … the school environment.” He also noted that “when speech and action — even on one’s personal time — undermines the mission or core functions of NYCPS, we will review and take appropriate action on a case-by-case basis.”
While the Education Department insisted that the warning was not directed at this protest, Tajh Sutton, a Brooklyn parent and president of Community Education Council 14, which is co-sponsoring the Thursday walkout, said that it is clear that the warning was meant to discourage teachers on the eve of the walkout.
The different treatment given protests raises concerns over content-based discrimination. It is reminiscent of the approach of National Public Radio.
NPR announced previously that reporters could participate in activities that advocate for “freedom and dignity of human beings” on social media and in real life. The rule states in part:
“NPR editorial staff may express support for democratic, civic values that are core to NPR’s work, such as, but not limited to: the freedom and dignity of human beings, the rights of a free and independent press, the right to thrive in society without facing discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, disability, or religion.”
The rule itself shows how impressionistic and unprofessional media has become in the woke era. NPR does not try to define what causes constitute advocacy for the “freedom and dignity of human beings.” How about climate change and environmental protection? Would it be prohibited to protest for a forest but okay if it is framed as “environmental justice”?
NPR seems to intentionally keep such questions vague while only citing such good causes as Black Lives Matter and gay rights:
“Is it OK to march in a demonstration and say, ‘Black lives matter’? What about a Pride parade? In theory, the answer today is, “Yes.” But in practice, NPR journalists will have to discuss specific decisions with their bosses, who in turn will have to ask a lot of questions.”
So the editors will have the power to choose between acceptable and unacceptable causes.
The New York school system seems to apply the same approach in actively supporting some walkouts while discouraging others.
Living in the NYC area, protests are a daily occurrence. Not sure what to make of this one. Marching for peace is now bad? Or is this skewed one way or the other? Can people march for peace given this set of circumstances?
I wonder what is at the heart of this policy with this protest. I do think the NYC school district can demand not to get dragged into non-school activities that can put it in a bad light. Except, they have allowed other participation for other hot topic issues.
What is going on in Gaza is tough with high temperatures when it comes to rhetoric and personal feelings. I wonder if the school district is worried about lingering attitudes between Jewish and Muslim people attending or working within the system.
I will say the lack of clear policy or enforcement of said policy is not helping. Chickens are coming home to roost by allowing this to continue this long unchecked.
I can only hope no one is hurt.
It’s not a question of activities “that can put it in a bad light”. Sensible businesses and institutions recognize that since most issues have more than one side or point of view it’s best to insist that individuals refrain from representing the entity and do their political or proselytizing on their own time and not associate it with the entity since no matter what point of view is advocated for there will be many people who will be angered by the actions and take it out on the entity. It’s a very slippery slope to undertake to support causes of this type.
They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious.
‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.
Jeremiah 6:14
Most of us value peace – but not at any cost.
Most americans, most decent people hope and pray that Israel will protect the lives of the innocent as best as possible during this war.
But they understand that those who murdered,. raped, tortured the innocent must face justice.
After 9/11 the US invaded and took over two countries, tens of millions of people. The conservative estimate is that 200,000 inocent civilians were killed in the war in Iraq and Afghanistn, and more likely over a million.
Yet there were few cries of “peace, peace”.
The AUMF for the war had the support of 98 senators and over 400 members of the house of representatives.
Proprotionately Oct 7 was an order of magnitude worse for Israel.
While we hope and expect that Israel will take care regarding civilian lives.
Oct 7, was an organized act of war and terrorism. It was the act of the leadership of the Gaza palestinian people.
Ordinary palestinians in Gaza are not entirely culpable for the actions of Hamas, nor are they entirely innocent.
Marching for peace is now bad?
Listen to the slogans being chanted, and the signs being brandished. . . not very peacie at all.

Useful idiots all. Most probably can’t find Gaza on a map!
Would that Biden fly them first class to Gaza to demonstrate his large number of supporters for a cease fire. To ensure their safe arrival, Blinken could accompany them and paint a LFBTQIA Trans flag on the fuselage. Would could possibly go wrong?
Turley is correct hat NYC Schools have only two choices – embrace all protestest or embrace none.
NYC can not get in the middle of trying to sort out which cases are good and which are not.
All that said is is hillarious watching woke young idiots protesting in support of people and organizations that are entirely opposed to absolutely everything they beleive.
It is very nearly impossible to come up with a group less openly hostile to every single value of the woke than Hamas.
Most decent people grasp that regardless of what they may think regarding questions of the israeli and palestinian people that Hamas is bad people. Arguable worse than the Nazis.
NPR announced previously that reporters could participate….
We are now learning about the predictable and not surprising revelation of Left Wing “journalists” like CNN embedded with Hamas. Setting aside the likely presence of National Peoples Radio (aka NPR) within Hamas as well, the better questions is, what Left Wing “journalist’ organizations are not embedded with Hamas? Why not broadcast it? IIRC candidate Joe Biden denouncing Trump as a Nazi when the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” event occurred. It now appears being a Nazi is de rigueur for Left Wingers.
Alas, the DNC / Act Blue paid trolls on this forum would never be embedded with Hamas for one simple reason: they would have to leave the comfort of their George Soros sponsored troll call center, which serves hot Caramel Macchiato’s and tofu wrapped in gluten-free Lavash bread imported from Iran, cookies in the shape of Swastikas would of course be low calorie.
Left Wing Progressives are clowns
CNN ‘fires’ freelance Gaza photojournalist Hassan Eslaiah after claims he and five others were embedded with Hamas terrorists when they invaded Israel on Oct 7 and had prior knowledge of the attack

The answer is so obvious.
All of education, educates minus any and all politics our personal agenda.
You show up for class, you learn you learn math, science, English, history without bias.
Rules and laws apply
Jonathan: Public school walkouts and protests are nothing new in American history. For those too young to remember there were many such protests during the Vietnam War. High school students and their teachers were willing to face discipline to protest the Johnson/Nixon genocide in Vietnam. On April 24, 1971 there were huge peaceful protest marches in DC and San Francisco–the largest in American history. My wife and I participated in the SF march for peace in Vietnam. Although that was on a Saturday we marched with a contingent of high school students from local schools. Over 150,000 marched in SF. Those large protests were critical in forcing Nixon/Kissinger to get out of Vietnam.
So I am heartened high school students and teachers in NY are willing to face disciple to protest Biden’s support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza. It appears NY students have rejected the GOP’s “anti-woke” agenda!
Dennis, it isn’t genocide:
https://www.wordnik.com/words/genocide
Hamas doesn’t fit the definition.
Dennis only posts what is given to him by his handlers as DNC talking points. Neither Accuracy nor facts are included
It’s kind of cute that you injected “the GOP’s “anti-woke” agenda” into the mix.
I’m more interested in if these “students” will be able to make change for a dollar when they leave school.
Good for you Dennis – though you remain clueless.
While the left hates Nixon – he was elected specifically to get us out of a DEMOCRAT war in Vietnam by bringing about peace with Dignity.
Which like it or not he actually accomplished, forcing the North Vietnamese to the negotiating table by bringing the war into their homes – not just those of the south vietnamese.
You can piss and moan about the vietnam war – but it was a war started by Kennedy and Johnson. Kennedy brought advisors to Vietnam in significant numbers. He involved the US directly in the conflict and he gave his impramatur to the assasination of Diem – probablythe only hope of political unity in the south. Johnson then brough hundreds of thousands of soldiers into vietnam under false pretences. He knowing lied about the Gulf of Tonkin. There are excellent questions regarding why we were in vietnam at all. During WWII the US had promised the vietnamese – including Ho Chi Minh and his people independence in return for support against the Japanese. Ho Chi Minh’s declaration of independence is a very close copy of the US declaration of indepence. After WWII the US got suckered into efforts to revive the colonial empires of Britian and France. The British in particular were instramental in US involvement in Vietnam. And then abandoned us.
Conversely Nixon’s goal, his policies and his actions from the his election forward were to negotiate peace.
As to “genocide” – the genocide that occured when the North Vietnamese ultimately took control of the country is lost on most americans possibly because it was in close proximity to the worst genocide in world history that followed in the Cambodia killing fields.
Approx. 2M people were tortured and murdered in Cambodia by left wing nuts – almost 1/3 of the country was butchered.
That is an actual genocide.
And today we are turning a blind eye to the genocide that is occuring in Afghanistan as a consequence of Biden’s botch withdraw.
It took three years after Nixon’s negotiated peace for South Vietnam to fall. Biden did so badly that Afghanistan toppled before our troops were out of the country.
There are many lessons from Iraq, Afghanistan. Vietnam, and other US military actions.
Those lessons are equally damning for the neocons that dominated the right as for the protestors in the US.
The power of the US military is awesome, and should be feared by any who would threaten us.
But it is not a tool for diplomacy or nation building. The US is not the policeman for the world.
Countries must govern themselves – and they may choose to do so badly. If they commit acts of war against the US we should not be afraid to use that military to punish those who harmed our people or our actual national interests. But the purpose of a military is to destroy the enemy.
And despite advances – that is NOT a pretty process.
Israel is currently in the process of attempting to destroy Hamas. While it is unlikely that it will totally succeed. The terrorist acts of war, genocide, torture committed by Hamas fully justify Israel’s actions.
Those actions will not be pretty. War is not pretty. Most of us Pray that Israel will be protective of civilians to the greatest extent reasonably possible. Regardless, the destruction of Hamas is justified and that includes civilian casualties among a country that gave Hamas power.
Few today argue that the German people were completely innocent of Hitler’s attrocites. The Palestinians are no different.
John Say: Seems you have a few facts wrong about the Vietnam war. Apparently, you have been spending a lot of time at the Nixon Library. In 1968 Nixon did run on a platform of ending the war. But he and Kissinger were secretly working to sabotage Johnson’s peace efforts. You’ll find that history in a long article by John Farrell in Politico (8/6/2017). But just for the record I was opposed to the war from the beginning–under Kennedy and then Johnson.
But it’s nonsense that “Nixon’s goal, his policies and his actions from his election forward were to negotiate peace”. In his first months in office Nixon secretly bombed N. Vietnam bases in Cambodia–hoping they would capitulate. They didn’t. So Nixon continued the protracted war. In May 1972 Nixon ordered the mining of N. Vietnamese harbors. He then ordered B-52 attacks on N. Vietnam–called the “Christmas bombing”. Nixon didn’t want a “peace with Dignity”. He wanted the NVA and the N. Vietnamese to capitulate–to agree to a “dictat” in which Nixon could keep the corrupt Thieu government in power. They refused.
Then Nixon tried to “Vietnamize” the war so he could withdraw some US troops and try to neutralize opposition to the war in this country. He got Thieu to conduct incursions inside Laos with S. Vietnamese troops. They were routed and fled back into S. Vietnam. Finally, with Congress opposed to the war and anti-war protests continuing throughout the country–along with the Watergate scandal– Nixon agreed to serious peace negotiations. On April 30, 1975 the NVA rolled into Saigon, unopposed. Thieu fled and the war was over. That’s the real history of the Vietnam war–not the one portrayed in the Nixon Library or in your comments. So who is the one really “clueless”?
Dennis, I mostly just ignore the entity signed itself ‘John Say’; full of error.
Still, it is good of you to offer correct intrepretations.
“But he and Kissinger were secretly working to sabotage Johnson’s peace efforts. You’ll find that history in a long article by John Farrell in Politico (8/6/2017).”
LMAO
Just to be clear – I fully support the right of students and teachers in NYC to protest in favor of Hamas.
I fully support the right of stupid dupes and their evil leaders to protest in support of any idiotic cause they wish.
I also fully support those who chose not to hire any of these protestors who are out publicly demonstrating their cluelessness.
If the woke left decided to come out in full throated support for Pastor Fred Phelps and the WestBoro Baptist church – that would be an order of magnitude less hypocritical.
Everything that Hamas and virtuially all consequential islamic leadership in the mideast beleives is antithetical to the woke left.
Supporting Hitler would be less hypocritical.
This is the most anti-gay, anti-women group of consequence in the entire world.
Further this is the epicenter of global slave trade for millenia.
This is the epicenter of the African slave trade.
More africans were enslaved and brough to the mideast than to everywhere else in the world.
That slave trade was ultimately ended by the naval power of the UK, US and France and the colonial powers taking over north africa and the mideast.
These are the most violently religiously fundimentalist people in the entire world today – large portions of whom beleive in the extermination of those that do not share their beleifs.
If you sought to create a group as hostile as you possibly could to everything the woke beleive – you could not do a batter job.
Absolutely – Please march out and protest for Hamas.
Demonstrate to the entire world your own self destructive abject stupidity and complete lack of ability to reason.
“Biden’s support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza”. You do know that this was initiated by bloody, barbaric attack by hamas on Israel? Very similar to the sneak attack by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. From what you say, America should not have retaliated for that attack and sent aid, instead to those pilots that dropped the bombs? How confused you appear about sorting out facts from political agenda from the media propagandists you must listen to (and that is very unfortunate for you).
. High school students and their teachers were willing to face discipline to protest the Johnson/Nixon genocide in Vietnam.
Not in my high school. No excused absence was allowed for protesting.
Although SCOTUS “Tinker” ruling was a Des Moines School. It concerned the wearing of black arm band in protest of the conflict in Viet Nam. Tinker basically says the school can ban all political speech, or it must allow ALL Wearing something, per previous SCOTUS ruling changed the words of the Constitution from speech, to expression. A neat slight of hand trick to add amendments the Judges deem prudent.
“Over 150,000 marched in SF. Those large protests were critical in forcing Nixon/Kissinger to get out of Vietnam.”
LMAO at the narcissist who thinks he made a difference.
And *this* from a law professor? Must have arisen from the wrong side of bed this morning.
As for me, the whole town has no gas supply this morning so no hot breakfast.
Students walk out to do the Hamas Al-Qassam shuffle march
OT, the day after the election, the ultra-leftists in the “Joe Biden” administration roll out Orwellian new transgender mandate:
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-orwellian-hhs-pronoun-mandate-forces-employees-to-deny-reality-violate-law-legal-expert#&_intcmp=fnhpbt1,hp1bt
Mandatd speech is unconstitutional.
This is trivially stupid.
Israel is going to defend its ability to continue existing by wiping out Hamas regardless of whether virtue-signaling leftists in America walk out of school to support a cease fire that would just allow Hamas to re-arm and kill more Jews.
Not too long ago the Nazis were given free reign for a while and Jews didn’t resist. That didn’t work out so well for the Jews, and they’re not going to make the same mistake this time. Hence the saying “never again” . . . and the more recent saying “never again is right now.”
We could say “never again” for the Israeli massacres in Gaza. Indiscriminate bombing from Tsahal killing thousand of kids is war crimes. What about the fact that Israel didn’t implement the UN resolutions. What about the apartheid against the Palestinian in Gaza and the West Bank. What about the permanent illegal and violent colonisation of the West Bank. At this point the problem is not the right of Israel to defend itself, but finding a solution to give a land to the Palestinians and promote peace as well as a ceasefire.
By the way I am not a leftist but a Republican looking for justice.
Never again should Hamas be able to induce such killings by making unprovoked attacks specifically targeting Israeli civilians, and then using Palestinians as human shields and blocking safe passageways out of Gaza. Those are the war crimes – all committed by Hamas.
The “colonization” canard doesn’t fly any more. Keep up with the times.
Is there anyone who takes the UN seriously ?
Whether you like it or not Israel is actually complying with the real international law regarding warfare.
The bombing is NOT indescriminate.
In point of fact Palestinian civilian casulties are LOWER than those inflicted by the US in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Under far worse circumstances as Hamas uses civilians as human shields, and refuses to allow civilians to leave the designated war zones.
What about “aparteid” ? Israel does not govern Gaza or the west bank, and it seeks no sovereignity over either.
The palestinians have been free to make their own country whenever they wish.
We do not call Haiti and the Dominican republic Aparteid because two nations divide the same island.
Those arabs inside of Israel have full rights like all other israeli citizens. They vote, their elected representaives have a substantial voice in the Israeli parliment.
What you are calling apartheid is Israel’s refusal to allow people who actively seek to commit genocide to immigrate into Israel.
That is not Apartheid.
I would note that no nation in the world wants palestinians to immigrate.
Everywhere the palestinians go they commit acts of terror against the country that takes them in – western countries – other arab countries – no one wants them. They are violent terrorists.
I would note that we hold the german people atleast partly responsible for the genocide and violence that hitler inflicted on the world.
The palestinians are no more innocent of the acts of Hamas than the Germans were of the actions of Hitler.
Frankly their responsibility is worse. Hitler did not openly engage in genocide. Few knew that the “final solution” was extermination – rather than merely deportation. The Palestinian people know that the goal of Hamas is genocide.
Further Palestinians families are rewarded for their family members participation in acts of terrorism and genocide.
This palestinian culture and genocide are inextricably linked. Hamas is the product of that culture – not an isolated faction.
Palestinians can have peace whenever they want it. They can have their own country whenever they wish.
“Everywhere the palestinians go they commit acts of terror against the country that takes them in – western countries – other arab countries – no one wants them. They are violent terrorists.” I find it quite telling not even Hamas’ financiers, Iran, doesn’t want them anywhere near Iran itself, either.
Further addressing Apartheid – The world has mostly ignored South Africa since the end of apartheid.
During that time it has gone from one of the richest countries in Africa at almost western levels of prosperty to abject poverty.
A nation rich in natural resources including productive farms is increasingly unable to feed itself. or to function.
South Africa is a basket case. Ending Apartheid has done no good for anyone.
every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Matthew 7
Violent crime is an even bigger problem than poverty. Four South African cites appear on a list of the 40 most dangerous cities in the world. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12486695/The-40-deadliest-cities-world-homicide-rate.html
There comes a point where academic and intellectual purity of discourse must give way to practical selection of right vs, wrong. You sound far too much like Neville Chamberlain for my stomach to manage.
You are another dumb idiot claiming not to be a leftist but a Republican. We see your stripes.
The Israeli’s are as careful as an army in a war can be. Compare what the Israeli’s are doing to what America did to Dresden you fool.
Are you that dumb that you don’t know what the word apartheid means. Arabs, Christians and Muslims are citizens of Israel. Did you have a lobotomy?
Jordan occupied the West Bank which was the sovereign land of Israel based on international law.
The Palestinians have done this to themselves. They were offered land for peace and refused many times. Israel is a spec of a nation among the vast Arab word. Why haven’t the Palestinians settled in these other countries? Start with Jordan. They were thrown out. Work your way through the Middle east too find the rest of the story.
“By the way I am not a leftist but an idiot without a clue what “from the river to the sea” means.”
Fixed that for ya.
Israel is in a near impossible situation.
After 70+ years the Palestinian people remain more opposed than ever to any hope of real peace.
The current war will NOT destroy hamas. It will at best dramatically weaken them for a time.
Regardless, they will be back.
There is this stupid claim that the palestinains are occupied. Israel left Gaza almost 20 years ago.
Regardless it is Israel that is actually surrounded – on all sides by hostile people. Bt Hamas, and Hezbolla,
with the intention of exterminating them. Who demostrate that at every oportunatiy and will continue to do so
for the foreseable future.
Israel survives solely through strength and constant vigilance.
And by successfully creating the most per capita productive country in the mideast with the highest standard of living in a country with almost no natural resources.
Apologies Professor Turley- I read that CNN AP REUTERS and others were embedded October 7 with the Hamas Terrorists when they raped and pillaged Israel. Interested to hear your opinion on this please.
I just read that also. How did they know?
They appear to be complicit.
I would hope the House investigates.
One thing you can say about leftists, they are consistently inconsistent.
Great. So already low students will have no one to teach them because their instructors are selfish, narcissistic little twits with no sense of accountability or responsibility. And I’m sure it’ll go a long way toward getting the Israel and Palestine to decide they like each other. 🙄🙄 These overgrown children are an embarrassment.
The Israelis and Palestinians, that is.
Having a “protest” in support of a terrorist organization made up of murderers, rapists and criminals. What a bizarre backward thing to support. The true colors are shinthrough.
Meanwhile the some of terrorists leadership are living the good life in western nations. They have no intention to make life better for the people. They state that their objective is murder.
The New York School system and NPR, or any school or organization for that matter, should apply consistent rules regarding protests and marches with well defined limitations.
The rules are simple – there are approximately 180 days for school each year.
Students and teachers will attend each and every day. If they do not – there will be consequences.
So long as schools are run by government – government can not engage in viewpoint descrimination.
It can not favor any protests at all – regardless of judgement regarding intentions.
“The rules are simple”
When I was young the rules were very simple. When I dealt with a matter of conscience, I paid for it later, gladly. Your conscience is your cost not mine, even though your conscience is highly respected.
Be realistic, since when have prog/left organizations EVER used fairness and equality in any of their decisions – they are agenda driven fanatics to the core.
Turls: it seems you regularly lose your thread, man. I know it’s a fox tactic…, start out on a tactic and then pull in all the even slightly related to try and bolster your point. Regular RW rhetoric, that…
Here you start with, if it is exactly as you report ( and I think you’ve left some key info about the NY schools here), there is a valid point about the district approving some protests but not others. But you quickly pivot on to NPR because they’ve previously appeared on your grudge list. It subtracts from your original point about NYC schools.
I know you’ve been trained in the ‘power of one’ in your legal training. Stick with it, Jon. Because when you just use a topic as a vehicle to trumpet your grudges it just makes you appear petty.
Then again, perhaps that Maya Angelou saying applies…, when someone tells you who they are, believe them. Maybe that’s why you’ve had more success in academia than in actual practice? Food for thought…
Just more evidence that our school systems have failed completely and we have, now, generations of under-educated, mis-educated and indoctrinated flotsam who will be a burden on this nation until they age out. I do not believe that you can reclaim these young minds from the poisoning that has been done to them since kindergarten.
@whinsicalmama
I completely agree, for them, it’s done. Lost generation(s). And we will be carrying their burden for the rest of our days, so will subsequent generations, should we be able to prevent a complete collapse of ethics and values in them. If we can’t, heaven help the human race when the last generation possessing truth, knowledge, and wisdom are gone. It’s not *that* far off. 😐
Whinsicalmama, and James,
The up side is homeschooling has gone mainstream.
Many see the corruption in public education and are homeschooling their children. They will be the future leaders. Will they be able to reverse the damage done by all the woke leftism? That will yet to be seen.
@Upstate
I don’t disagree with that, either. It isn’t too late to instill freedom in the very young, but for the roughly 50% or more of millennials and gen z that have swallowed the poison, because they have been raised to be incapable of critical thought, or history, or civics, or, or, or – I don’t know how anyone fixes that. Patty Hearst was never really ok again, and that is what we are dealing with. Likely half of millennials and more of gen z. This is simply true.
That Newsome wants to ensure that from the time children are babies they are adjusted, and his government sees fit, is scary, and if he has even a hint of being POTUS, you better believe he’d try to do it federally. Common Core was stupid, this – this is madness, madness to the 9th degree, and the dem machine (one could argue the globalist machine, and plenty of people across the seas and in-between think that is somehow humanitarian) is so well funded and connected that it will not stop rolling unless we eliminate their power. The debates were telling and not wrong. Those old ideas have got to bite the dust. We move forward as one people or not at all. Republicans: let go of your abortion bugaboos. The courts decided on that. If you do not want the rest of the country to think you are nothing more than misogynistic, homophobic freaks, then stop. You have to live with people that don’t share your values too in a free country with a right to religion and a right to personal autonomy, they may be diametrically opposed to you, and if you value your freedom, you’d better do it. Or keep shooting yourselves in both feet.
Perhaps I see this more acutely because my wife deals with these kids and families everyday, worse and worse, year by year, and at this point we are talking about multiple states; but that is the groundwork of our future. And it looks pretty bleak at present. Really, really effing bleak. The inevitable collision with ‘reality’ or grand wakeup isn’t going to happen. That requires a society that acknowledges those things, and post-COVID, we don’t have it. You can’t bump into what no longer exists.
And in my previous comments regarding walkouts, I was referring to the entire apparatus as ‘instructors’, admin, unions, teachers, students. It is rotten, top to bottom (lib, conservative – doesn’t matter when most kids are illiterate across the board and can’t do basic math, and they can’t. They can’t read. They cannot understand what they are required to read. That is before even addressing social skills, and those are in the toilet, too), most modern parents don’t care, not even a little, and I don’t know what we do.
Whatever one might think of him, and I myself think he’s very much on the spectrum and prey to the whimsy that entails – Elon Musk buying Twitter may have saved us, at least in the short term. Where we go from here is a gamble.
It is rotten, top to bottom (lib, conservative – doesn’t matter when most kids are illiterate across the board and can’t do basic math, and they can’t. They can’t read. They cannot understand what they are required to read.
James, I truly look forward to reading your comments. This quote from you raises a very interesting question for me; how in the world can generations of Americans who lack the fundamental ability to read for comprehension ever be expected to know where this country is headed if they cannot understand events throughout history? Nothing good can come from an illiterate population that has lost its moral compass and it wholly dependent on the state to tell them what to think. This is a regression to the days before the reformation and printing press.
I don’t understand why the post starts out calling the NY schools’ policy “incomprehensible,” but then goes on to explain it. There is nothing incomprehensible about it. Walk-outs are okay if the left-wing censors say they are.
This is exactly how our elite cafe communists indoctrinate a whole new generation of American haters. Start them young in public schools (with the help of taxpayer supported public school teachers of course).
I guess I now know why kids are getting dumber each year…they are just PRODUCTS for Democrats and teacher unions!
Will the ones who don’t walk out with their fascist teachers be punished? Will the Fascist teacher be PAID to “protest”?
It’s been reported 97% of teachers union contributions go to the Democratic Party. How is this different from the Mafia using union money for their benefit
the Fascists using Kids…how typical…how 1920-30 Germany, Italy, China 1960’s, etc
Well said. Well said
And don’t forget Lenin.
