A massive walkout in New York schools is planned for today in support of a ceasefire in Gaza. Chancellor David Banks is being accused of threatening teachers about the protest and warning that they may be subject to discipline in some circumstances. The school system appears in a muddle given its past support for walkouts. My interest in the controversy is not the merits of the ceasefire but the incomprehensible policy being enforced by school officials in choosing what protests they will support.
A flyer for the event advertised “100+ high schools and school communities” will be joining the mass demonstration with the participation of many teachers.
I previously criticized the school system for its biased approach toward supporting certain protests while opposing others. For example, the New York school system previously gave 1.1 million students leave to join protests on climate change. At the time, I asked if the school officials would show equal support for other protests or whether they were simply encouraging protests that they supported.
The response to this protest is clearly different from the enthusiastic support given past protests. Banks sent a warning to teachers who will be joining this protest that they can face discipline if it “disrupts … the school environment.” He also noted that “when speech and action — even on one’s personal time — undermines the mission or core functions of NYCPS, we will review and take appropriate action on a case-by-case basis.”
While the Education Department insisted that the warning was not directed at this protest, Tajh Sutton, a Brooklyn parent and president of Community Education Council 14, which is co-sponsoring the Thursday walkout, said that it is clear that the warning was meant to discourage teachers on the eve of the walkout.
The different treatment given protests raises concerns over content-based discrimination. It is reminiscent of the approach of National Public Radio.
NPR announced previously that reporters could participate in activities that advocate for “freedom and dignity of human beings” on social media and in real life. The rule states in part:
“NPR editorial staff may express support for democratic, civic values that are core to NPR’s work, such as, but not limited to: the freedom and dignity of human beings, the rights of a free and independent press, the right to thrive in society without facing discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, disability, or religion.”
The rule itself shows how impressionistic and unprofessional media has become in the woke era. NPR does not try to define what causes constitute advocacy for the “freedom and dignity of human beings.” How about climate change and environmental protection? Would it be prohibited to protest for a forest but okay if it is framed as “environmental justice”?
NPR seems to intentionally keep such questions vague while only citing such good causes as Black Lives Matter and gay rights:
“Is it OK to march in a demonstration and say, ‘Black lives matter’? What about a Pride parade? In theory, the answer today is, “Yes.” But in practice, NPR journalists will have to discuss specific decisions with their bosses, who in turn will have to ask a lot of questions.”
So the editors will have the power to choose between acceptable and unacceptable causes.
The New York school system seems to apply the same approach in actively supporting some walkouts while discouraging others.
A ceasefire would allow Hamas to regroup, move weapons around, and better position themselves to commit more terrorist acts. They have openly declared they will never stop committing genocide until all the Jews are dead.
It is outrageous to demand that Israel stop fighting Hamas until that mass raping, pedophilia, kid killing Nazi organization is ash, and then the ashes burnt.
Did we give the Nazis a ceasefire when we had the military advantage?
We leveled parts of Afghanistan and spent the next couple,of decades there because 5 Saudis trained there with bin Laden to commit 9/11. If there were massive protests in support of bin Laden, anywhere near 9/11, it would have been received poorly.
Hamas must be destroyed, its molecules exploded.
The leaders of Hamas seized billions of dollars in aid that poured into Gaza, that was supposed to build a state of the art city. They sold part of it on the black market, kept vast amounts of money, and used the rest to commit terrorism. Hamas’ leadership are billionaires living pampered lives in Qatar, while Palestinians live in poverty, without that state of the art water and power system. They direct Hamas to use Palestinians as human shields, ordering them not to evacuate when Israel warns them to. They are sheep to slaughter, because their deaths gain up more Jew hatred. Yet, STILL, Palestinians vote for Hamas to run Gaza.
I don’t know what deal with the devil Hamas made to get this kind of PR. One would think that using civilians as human shields, mass rape, mass pedophilia, would be met with global condemnation, yet Leftists seem to just love it. There are Queers for Palestine demonstrating for people who would murder them. Women who marched in women’s marches with genitalia hats because Trump made vulgar references to groupies, who now march in support of Hamas that raped women to death.
Trump, the firmest supporter of Israel, was falsely accused of antisemitism for promoting a meme that Hillary Clinton, a Christian, belongs in jail. The Left now openly supports Hamas, whose rhetoric about killing all the Jews is I distinguishable from Nazis.
It just defies comprehension. The dark sorcery of willful blindness on a scale of Germany in the 1930s.
You are thoroughly correct….with one glaring exception: Hillary “Piano Legs” Clinton is NOT a Christian. On the contrary, she/it is a mentally-ill murderer.
And the Jewish sheep will back the Dimunist Left to the tune of 80%+
yup
It’s no big deal. 90% of the New York school students won’t be able to read the instructions of how to get to the protest. Most of them don’t like tests at all, pro or not.
OT, Joe Manchin not running for re-election. This should flip one seat red, which will make it harder for the D’s to hold onto Senate majority.
excellent article by Manchin in WSJ Op Ed section. Great read
Why I Won’t Be Seeking Re-Election to the Senate
There are enough votes in Congress to solve or at least make headway against every one of these problems. A genuine commitment to legislating would put America on firmer footing for the next 20 years. But the Democratic and Republican machines have no interest in solutions. Instead, they stoke outrage because doing so brings them fame and funding. Today, the business of politics is about monetizing anger and getting paid for it. And business has never been better.

Despicable actions reflecting our society and the state of affairs we’re in today. Every day seems to be a never ending punch to the gut.
I believe in the past, the system was permitting students to take part in walk-outs and not teachers. This case appears to involve teachers, and the chancellor should be on firm ground if he takes actions against teachers who take part in the walk-out.
OT
Why doesn’t Israel pump laughing gas into Hamas’ tunnels?
PRIVATIZE
Anybody referring to “schools,” “colleges,” and “universities” should always use quotation marks around those obsolete terms. Those things no longer exist for the most part. These have largely been replaced by Leftist Indoctrination Entities or “LIES,” and that is the correct term to use when describing or referring to those institutions.
The LIES exist strictly to program the dumb student body into Leftist ideology, so that they are trained to hate America, hate Israel, and love America’s and Israel’s enemies. Any genuine learning of genuine subject matter is purely accidental or coincidental, as the typical student from the LIES couldn’t even locate Israel on a map.
I believe in the past, the system was permitting students to take part in walk-outs and not teachers. This case appears to involve teachers, and the chancellor should be on firm ground if he takes actions against teachers who take part in the walk-out.
America is simple. The American thesis is simple: Freedom and self-reliance. The Constitution is simple. Congress has no power to regulate education, per the eminently legible Article 1, Section 8. The federal so-erroneously-impossibly-called department of education is pure communism, irrefutably anti-American, and utterly unconstitutional.
Freedom and free enterprise are simple. Americans are free to establish a free enterprise or accept or reject employment. Employees have no power to commit criminal acts, such as trespassing, slashing tires, breaking windshields, or intimidating individuals, in order to secure their positions. Private property owners and managers of governmental organizations alone have the power to hire, fire, pay, and direct employees.
All employees who are absent from their duties without leave must be immediately terminated.
Americans enjoy the right to peaceably assemble and petition the government; they do not have the freedom to disturb the peace or disrupt proceedings.

“THAT DOMINION WHICH ONE MAN CLAIMS AND EXERCISES”
“[Private property is] that dominion which one man claims and exercises over the external things of the world, in exclusion of every other individual.”
– James Madison
I saw pics of the butchering and burning of innocent Israeli civilians on Christian Broadcasting Network, but on not on MSNBC or CNN. I am disappointed mainstream media did not put the pics on. I was looking at polling numbers, Democrats seem to think the IDF is going to far in their efforts to destroy Hamas, so does the left wing media. But how many Democrats saw the full extent of crimes Hamas butchers did? Are AP and the left wing media reporting this story correctly? I think the IDF are doing things just about right, they are killing the Hamas butchers while trying to minimize the deaths of Gazans. The IDF is destroying the tunnels, killing the leaders of Hamas. In my view they are doing this as humanely as possible, the Hamas genocidal butchers intentionally put civilians in harm’s way. The blame for all this destruction can firmly be placed on Hamas, yet AP and MSNBC keep playing up civilian casualties for journalistic purposes (relying on Hamas Bagdhad Bob’s), I think the media is not playing the story right. I only recently learned the Hamas leaders, all in exile – are billionaires – they stay in 1,000 a night hotels in Quatar. I don’t recall learning about that from AP, or MSNBC, maybe I just missed it. The fact that these billionaires, living in luxury, ordering this horrific attack on civilians – they are also promising more to come – is so unbelievably awful I don’t believe the civilized world can sit by and tolerate this. Yet that view is not prevailing, I think, due to the biased press coverage.
And if you suspect that the prog/left media did that, imagine what they do to most stories and election coverage. Just further proof that you cannot trust the mainstream media.
I expect that later Israel will respond much as it did to Munich and seek out and assassinate Hamas leaders everywhere in the world that they are hiding.
I would note that these Hamas Billionaires – are so because of the massive aid that other arab countries provide the palestinians.
I beleive it is over 30B/year. One ofthe reasons for the current conflict is that the Abraham accords and particularly the possibility of the Saudi’s joining those accord threatens the Palestinian gravy train.
The aide that Arab countries provide makes peace impossible.
Not just by creating terrorist billionaires or funding terrorism.
But because peace means the eventual end to that aide, therefore the palestinians will never agree to peace.
When you subsidize something – you get more of it.
I do not have a problem with being critical of Israel’s conduct of this war.
That is completely independent of the justification for the war itself.
The war is fully justified.
While the objective of destroying Hamas is not possible.
Israel is justified by the acts of war committed by Hamas in attempting to destroy Hamas.
Even if only for a time.
War itself is messy and involves civilian deaths.
We all wish that was avoidable.
But it is not.
Regardless, Israel is actually better at avoiding civilian deaths than the US is.
Further while the palestinians are not entirely responsible for the actions of Hamas – they are also not entirely innocent either.
We accept that a nations people bear some responsibility for the actions of their govenrment and their leaders.
We may not have imposed the same responsibility on the German people as we did on Herman Goering,
but we did hold the german people in part culpable for what they allowed.
The same is true of palestinians.
Further the US justified the killing of Civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq by the shared culpability of the Afghan and Iraqi people in the actions of their leaders.
While this does not justify the wanton killing of civilians,
It is also NOT a requirement of international law to protect the lives of civilians at all costs – including your own lives, in a justified war against a violent agressor.
“The aide that Arab countries provide makes peace impossible.
Not just by creating terrorist billionaires or funding terrorism.
But because peace means the eventual end to that aide, therefore the palestinians will never agree to peace.
When you subsidize something – you get more of it.” BINGO! Always follow the money.
@John Say,
You should read ‘Every Spy a Prince’.
(I have a copy somewhere around here its been over 20yrs since I last read it.)
The sad thing is that the schools which are supposed to teach history are sponsoring the walk outs.
Maybe they should spend time teaching them the meaning of some of the words they toss around.
Like genocide, or apartheid. (Kinda hard to have a tiered government when you don’t actually rule a territory)
Lets add a term… an oldie but a goodie: pogrom. ( Anyone remember the pogroms in Russia in the early 1900’s ?)
When they teach World War 2, lets talk about pre-war British colonial rule and then WW2 actions taken by the Arabs under the lead of the Mufti of Jerusalem (spoiler… he became best buds with Hitler and wanted him to extend the final solution to the Middle East.)
Antisemitism? Look where its being taught.

I would further note that it was the european colonialization of africa and the mideast that ended the african slave trade.
The left rants about slavery in colonial america. But the big transporters of slaves were the dutch.
Only approx 350,000 slaves were transported to the the american colonies.
Another 1M+ were transported to the west indies, the remainder of almost 12M slaves transported accross the atlantic went to south and central america.
But even more african slaves went EAST to north africa and the middle east. Most of these were men. Most were enuchs and therefore could not reproduce, AND this continued until the UK US and french navies in conjunction with european colonization of Aftrica and the mideast ended the slave trade.
The end of colonial rule throughout he world with only a few exceptions resulted in the decline of those countries.
“The left rants about slavery in colonial america. But the big transporters of slaves”
The left lies and always has. All one has to do is look at those leftist bloggers on this list who have lied only to be proven wrong and then found to lie again.
Telling lies might be a Leftist’s only redeeming quality.
John, it is not just the Arab nations that fund Hamas but the US Government, NGO’s and Europe. Europe even funds Arab settlers on Israel state property, supplying them with materials and money. That type of settlement would be like homeless people taking over parts of Central Park and declaring it theirs.
If it is desired to save civilian lives, then declare no more funding in any manner to Hamas. Declare Israel’s sovereignty and the fact that Israel won and Hamas lost. That is why Trump was so successful in the Middle East. He made it clear the war was over. Biden rekindled the hostilities.
Foreign aide as a rule NEVER has positive benefits.
William Easterly -= one of the best developmental economists in the world noted that over the past 40 years we have given $1T in foreign aide to Africa – and the net effect has been to make things worse.
Americans have this magical belief that tomorow will be better than yesterday – based on 4 centuries of excellent growth that defies the norm of the past 300,000 years of human history.
We also beleive that throwing money at problems will solve them.
The truth is that solving problems is hard, that failure is far more common than success, that the difference between success and failure has little to do with money.
The good news is that most of the time when we fail we get to try again and again and again, and we tend to eventually succeed.
Still – historically that the the rare exception rather than the rule.
There is a reason the Israeli’s have succeeded and the Palestinians have not.
Those reasons have nothing to do with money.
Israel has virtually nothing in terms of resources. There is no good reason that the Palestinians could not do what the Israelis have done.
It is certainly not for lack of capitol.
CNN has shown tons of graphic images. Here is one noteworthy one showing the burned remains of Israeli victims….
https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2023/11/01/the-lead-jake-tapper-israel-forensics.cnn
Why would you make such a statement? Is that what CBN is telling you about CNN? Perhaps putting your “faith” in Pat Robertson’s drivel isn’t distorting your reality.
Sites like CBN evangelize rather than provide journalistic objectivity, which is precisely the issue that concerns Turley (although he only directs his disdain in one political direction).
Now this is an acceptable purpose for student protests…specific public school policy that threatens their safety and security.

Jonathan: By the way, there are new developments in the DC case before Judge Chutkan. Jack Smith filed to require DJT to declare whether he intends to use the “advice of counsel” defense at trial over the Jan. 6 insurrection. Smith’s filing came after DJT’s lawyers publicly announced they would use that defense. Yesterday, Judge Chutkan agreed, in part, ordering that DJT has until Jan. 15 to disclose whether he intends to assert defense.
This is a big deal. If DJT wants to claim “defense of counsel”, he waives the attorney-client privilege and must turn over his communications with his attorneys. If John Eastman was one of the attorneys DJT consulted with that’s bad news. Eastman is one of the co-conspirators who tried to overturn the 2020 election results. He is about to lose his law license in California. Eastman is not the kind of lawyer you should rely upon for “advice”.
Now I know. The defenders of DJT will say Judge Chutkan is a “Marxist-Communist” who hates DJT and wants to “railroad” him. That kind of argument may play well with MAGA supporters but it won’t work in a court of law.
But will it work in a Moscow Show Trial?
Gee, thanks for sharing. JT would have never known that without Dennis McIntyre divulging that secret stuff, nor would the rest of us who have to smartphones computers or newspapers.

Well, finally the education system in NY is discovering what not teaching the children the truth of anything, now find itself really useless….look outside and the “protesters” never heard of USA history, or, any history of any kind, so, they’re out there being used as tools for the lies taught them…..hope all kids stay out of NY
America has fallen deep within the morass of stupidity that now we have to listen to Children who are being pulled along by their elders, neither having knowledge of the historical or present-day situation in Israel or Gaza. The fence of good and evil has sharp spikes that may impale and scare those jumping to the wrong side of history.
One question: who is driving the propaganda that could sway these vapid children to side with the Mongrel terrorists of Hamas?

The media/education industry has been creating these cretins for decades. I doubt if we could undo that damage to their characters and intellect and will just need to carefully watch them age out.
Israel has no ‘Separation of Church and State’, in fact they have done the complete opposite, codifying that it is a Religious-State by stating: if you are Jewish you are Israeli. As It’s neighbors in the Semitic-Region also lack the ‘Separation of Church and State’ in their forms.

Ukraine: That’s correct, Volodymyr Zelensky is Jewish and therefore Israeli.
Minorities, have taken the position of being a minority in an endless-war, wherein should All concede that if All are Equal and that there are no differences between All (‘all things being equal’) then the argument is moot and the ‘status of minority has vanished’.
(They willfully sever themselves through declaration – We are what We are and You are what You are, – epistemologically: How you see it, Isn’t the way it is)
But the reality is, There are those that will not give up that minority status, as it provides them with leverage to gain without true substance (lye/trick/defraud/guise), under a system of equality. Their way of cheating in the equilibrium of the Zero-Sum-Game (Nash), which in the end gains nothing to the Whole.
Israeli’s know this, Blacks know this, Hispanics know this, Women know this, a plethora of Human Proclivities know this (trick).
IF you Give them Equality, you take away Their Game. Hence in the process ending the cause and reason for Endless War(s).
Thus, They stay Willfully-Blind to their own hypocrisy, and the hypocrisies of the Monolith, they Themselves are a part of.

No Israel is not a theocracy. That would be Iran.
While they identify as the Jewish State, there is tolerance of other religions. 1.6% is Arab Muslim. 1.4% is Christian… and then there are others.
So there is religious tolerance that you don’t find in the Arab / Muslim world. In fact many Jews who grew up in Arab/Muslim countries ended up moving to Israel due to persecution in their home countries. Take Iran for example… Under the Shah… religious freedom. Post revolution… not so much.
And that’s an interesting thing.
The Arab Israeli citizens are whom many would identify as Palestinians, yet these people self identify as Arabs because they don’t want to be associated w the Palestinians.

No, Israel is not a “religion-state”, and it has absolutely NOT codified that “if you are Jewish you are Israeli”. Most Jews in the world are not Israeli, and more than 20% of Israelis are not Jews. Zelensky is not an Israeli citizen. Nor are Anthony Blinken, Merrick Garland, or whomever else you were about to “accuse” of it.
No, Israel has no “separation of church and state”. So what? Neither do most countries. What’s so great about it?

“Zelensky is not an Israeli citizen. Nor are Anthony Blinken, Merrick Garland, or whomever else you were about to “accuse” of it.”
The Other-way around, The Jewish State of Israel considers them Israeli, that does not mean that they are not Citizens in/of their respective Country. In addition, both when Israel and Iran (Any Peoples and their Religious & Governmental Institutions) ‘put Construction of Their differences’, the dissonance sets the stage(s) for Conflict.
I.O.P. That discourse is the wrong Direction.
“No, Israel has no “separation of church and state”. So what?”
Most of the World has no ‘separation of church and state’, the point was that the Semite-Region (say from Israel to Iran) is in a Religious state of Governing Laws. That’s Huge, because it does not allow for Practices in various forms (religious, social, economic, speech, …). The US has reaped the good fortune of abiding to a Separation of Church and State, the multiplicity of various Thought, Ideas, Perspectives, have allowed this Society to Explore and derive Knowledge.
Which brings this to the points made by Stanley Kubrick – The only benefit of Conflict in the long run is the Knowledge we gain along the way (that We have learned Our Lesson). Hopefully in a positive outward direction (Evolution).

When public institutions begin to participate in the public discourse, it will inevitably mean that participants will represent only one side of the issue. The pressure to “get out for the right side” will be strong, but how to judge what is the “right side” if there is no consensus.???
That is exactly the problem with the idiot notion of multiculturalism, there are no binding common agreed upon moral cores. Just a scattering of often conflicting views that will lead to anarchy and chaos. Anyone with 2 brain cells could have figured that out when the progs started talking about multiculturalism.
It is worse than that.
It is a conflation of values with principles.
Diversity is a modern value – one that I agree with. But it is NOT a principle.
Contra the left it is not established that diversity is a positive force for good under all circumstances.
Diversity is a value. It is not absolute.
We have a great deal of evidence as an example that the policies of those on the left to the extent they work at all work best in monocultures – in societies with the least possible diversity.
Because broadly shared values – which is antithetical to diversity is ALSO a value.
Values are not the same as principles. Values are not absolute, values are constantly weighed against other values without any ascetainable univseral outcome. Values are not universally shared, they are not immutable.
They are often at odds with each other and with principles.

This is trivial – Even FDR grasped that government employees can not strike or “walk out”.
It is not NYC’s business what protests are acceptable. The answer is that government may not endorse ANY protest, and must require eachers and students to attend all required school.
All this is just more reason that government should not run schools.
John Say —- Schools are governed by school boards, distinct from city, county and state governments.
True, and the prog/left realized, decades ago, that the best way to destroy and transform a culture is to start at the local levels of city halls and school boards. The republicans were not paying attention to all that and I hold them responsible for allowing this to get so out of hand. Now it will be a long hard slog to undo much at the local and state levels, that is if it is still possible without radical moves.
David – you make an artificial distinction. School districts are political subdivisions, the same as counties, townships, and cities. School district employees are no less governmental employees than employees of any other political subdivision.
First there is no “schools” – there are public schools that are litterally GOVERNMENT.
And there are a variety of private schools.
Absolutely nothing I have said is applicable to private schools. They are not bound by the constitution, they are not government actors, and they are directly answerable to parents., Who can remove their students and go elsewhere.
The free market is remarkably good at sorting these things out.
Public Schools are government entities.
They are paid for by taxes collected by FORCE,
They are operated by school boards elected int he same elections we elect mayors, representatives and presidents.
They are bound by state law, and by the US constitution as government entities.
While they are given Slightly more constitutional latitude consistent with their role in education, as well as the fact that Students are not adults and therefor do not have the same rights as adults.
However They remain bound by the constitution.
The issue here is NOT the free speech of students – which is constrained by content neutral rules of order.
Students have a right to non-disruptive free speech – Tinker and its progeny.
They do NOT have the right to disrupt their own education or hat of others to engage in free speech.
But the issue here is NOT the rights of students – it is the GOVERNMENT action of the NY school system which is unconstitutionally engaging in viewpoint descrimination which is CLEARLY constitutionally barred.
A Government school may not give students off for Climate protests, and refuse to give them off for Pro-Hamas protests.
This is not a hard case. There is a long line of cases involving schools and free speech.
There is also a long line of cases involving content based favoritism by govenrment – one of the more recent is Barr v. American Association of Political Consultants Inc.
There are some very specific areas where there are conflicts – students do not have the same free speech rights as adults.
Government has SOME power to restrict SOME speech in a content neutral fashion for the purpose of public order.
But that can not be a backdoor to content based restriction.
The case I cited above makes it clear that government can not favor speech based on content without unconstitutionally disfavoring other speech. In Barr the court decided that Government favoring government debt collectors constituted unconstitutional content based discrimination – in the instant case against political speech.
A school district can not allow protests in favor of more school funding, without allowing protests in favor of the genocide of jews.
Government must either allow all legal protests, or none.
As is typical – you are clueless and WRONG.
Really ?
I provided a longer response elsewhere – but you are really trying to argue that public schools are not government ?
What else in your mind is not government – Congress ?
DB this is a new level of absurdness even for you. It is even more absurd that your claim that exponential is so narrowly defined as to only refer to functions that incorporate Eulers constant.

John Say —- In exhaustive detail then:
https://www.saveourschoolsmarch.org/are-public-schools-considered-government-organizations/
I completely agree. Our “Public” school system has become a government/union cartel that places teacher unions, and their leftist ideology and political contributions ahead of patents, children and education.
John(s), government itself has become a cartel and the public school system has been turned into a training ground for their useful idiots.
John Busch and OLLY,
Well said and I agree.
Public schools constitute merely a redistribution of wealth program for lazy, overpaid, greedy, striking daycare attendants called teachers.
Start here: Every subject could and should be accomplished by centralized, automated video presentations and teachbots.
Rockwell Automation builds peopleless factories.
Public schools could and should be commensurately cheap and teacherless with ubiquitous security cameras.
Should an event occur that this nation needs patriots to defend it, do you think any of the school walkouts will be walking out of school to join up?
Who brought all these Jihadis into this country – especially into Michigan? It used to be that people coming here were sympathetic to our values; now, these folks seem antagonistic. There should be an investigation of this matter.
Living here, I don’t have the impression that there are many Jihadists in Michigan. The Muslim Arabs in Dearborn and Hamtramck have seemingly blended into American life. It is possible for American Arabs to be sympathetic to the Arab cause without being anti-American, just as it possible for American Jews to sympathize with Israel without rejecting American values. The people who come here bring their sympathies with them.
There are good and bad in all people. One has to look into and understand another’s values to determine who they are.
Ask if they believe in Sharia Law. From that you can get a pretty quick and accurate assessment of where they are coming from.
“Ask if they believe in Sharia Law.” Ask if they LIVE Sharia Law 24/7, including in public. Of not, they’re likely only closet ‘Believers’.
What is incomprehensible to me is the parental toleration of what I view as “field trips” during school hours to protest anything when the schools are failing to educate these students in the core disciplines of reading, writing and math. I went to public schools in the 60’s and 70’s in Minnesota (Mpls.) and Iowa. I attended college in Wisconsin. Never once was there time away from school to protest anything.
Agreed. In Catholic schools we usually had class when public schools had off. Seriously!
Instead of supporting protests, public schools should require students watch the Oct 7 video of Hamas killing Israeli Jews. It didnt go well when Gal Godot sponsored its screening in Los Angeles in the “Museum of Tolerance”. Ha! Surely that would never happen in the oh so tolerant Woke school board approved curriculum, that encourages porno books for minors, right?
Protests grow violent after screening of film on Hamas attacks at Museum of Tolerance
About 50 protesters had gathered outside the museum prior to the start of the 47-minute film titled “Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre.” The film is a compilation of video from the attacks, gathered by the Israeli military.

Anything Gal Godot touches is well worth a watch!
😘

I would agree if this was to achieve measurable curriculum goals.
Estovir,
Well said.
It has been reported that “reporters” were embedded with the TERRORISTS when they invaded Israel on October 7th. There are photos of a woman being taken away on a motorcycle with two Palestinians surrounding her. AN ELDERLY LAADY AT THAT! These “reporters” were on the scene right as the attacks began, seemingly having arrived with the terrorists. These “reporters” did not notify anyone of the impending attack and 1400 were killed, INCLUDING AMERICANS, women were raped and tortured and babies were killed and kidnapped.
Now imagine if the AP and Reuters had reporters going to the airport with Mohammed Atta and the gang on 9/11. Imagine AP embedding with the 9/11 murderers as they went to flight school. Are you ok with this idea?
The AP was situated in the same building as Hamas for many years and they pretended they didn’t know it. Now maybe you can understand why the AP and others call killing women and children “the start of the military campaign”. Why they say “a Jewish man died after hitting his head at a rally in LA”. Why they say Israel bombed a hospital and killed 500.
AP is our enemy. The media is our enemy. Democrats are our enemy. Anonymous is our enemy. When I say “our enemy” I mean the enemy of America as we have known it.
HullBobby,
I agree with you, but only to a degree.
If someone at the AP, outside of Gaza, knew about the impending terror attacks and did nothing to prevent it, then they are the enemy of Israel and all Jews.
My sister is a Democrat, and she thinks the woke leftists that have invaded and taken over her party are insane and stupid. So does other sane Democrats like Bill Maher, Elon Musk, James Carville and of course the good professor. My sister is so disgusted by them, she has written to both the Biden admin and the DNC that she will vote Republican if they put up anyone but Trump.
Anyone who calls for pornography in elementary schools, groomers, the mutilation of children etc. yes, they are the enemy. They should be fought against at every turn for the evil they are. Get them off school boards, out of the class room, out of city councils etc.
I agree completely UpstateFarmer. Our government has enabled the radical Left to infect our culture with their cancerous ideology. While the Regime has no problem imposing any number of laws, rules and regulations for the purpose of “protecting” our citizens from their own “stupid” lifestyle choices, (tobacco, Big Gulps, highway safety, fossil fuels, etc), they give oxygen to the cultural Marxist ideology, which is an easily identifiable cancer designed to rot any nation from the inside/out, to metastasize. This evil ideology is a “from the Atlantic to the Pacific” mission against our survival as constitutional republic, not unlike radical Islam’s “from the river to the sea.”

Yes, yes, all true, and coming from personal experience with Communism, I have been seeing America slouching towards Communism since post Ronald Reagan’s presidency. The Left offer no hope, no salvation, no redemption. Theirs is a culture of death, as Saint Pope John Paul II often said.
However, even in Communist Cuba we did not lose hope. We dreamed. We had goals. We purposed to chase them until they were fulfilled. Americans have that choice. They can choose to have weak limbs or straighten them so as to reach for that golden ring, as St Paul the Apostle states. We should be willing to chase our dreams even to the gates of Hell. Jim Nabors, a gay, closeted man for most of his acting life, dared to chase his dreams in spite of all adversity. Considering he died with his husband of 40+ years by his side, a multimillionaire, by any standard metric, Nabors was an inspiration for everyone, gay or straight.
The teeth gnashing and constant kvetching by most on here is frankly obnoxious and are signs of spiritual death, with Olly NOT being one of them. We all should belt it out every morning during our prayer time to praise God, be thankful, and do the work. Be different. Spread Faith, Hope and Love.
🎶 To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause 🎶
However, even in Communist Cuba we did not lose hope. We dreamed. We had goals. We purposed to chase them until they were fulfilled.
Thank you Estovir. I don’t disagree with your words of inspiration. However, was the communist takeover of Cuba a multi-generational, multi-decade effort like it has been here in the United States? Or, was the historical Cuban cultural still largely intact at the time of the communist revolution?
Castro lied. He offered hope and change, tickled the young, then after a coup de etat, he proclaimed himself a Communist. Similarities to Clinton / Obama / Biden’s Handlers are not a coincidence. Ditto for the wealth the latter accumulated after acquiring power for they were paupers prior. Just.Like.Castro.
Did he at least give them a “5 day” warning that he was about to fundamentally transform the country?
Has the Cuban culture also been revolutionized by the communists, or has it been predominantly frozen in time? Perhaps it’s somewhere inbetween?
Once Fidel openly declared himself to be a Communist, without warning, surprising his most ardent supporters, he confiscated all of the weapons. That is when Cubans started fleeing. He banned religion, shut down the Catholic Church, closed Catholic schools, and transformed childhood education. It became Marxist indoctrination. When I last visited Cuba, I did not recognize the culture. My maternal uncle and his wife left Cuba 3 years ago, moved to Miami to be with his daughter, my cousin, and we speak past each other. He is in his 70s and he often reminds me “eso no son mis tradiciones” (those are not my traditions) when I speak about historical Cuban cultural traditions. He still sings the praises of Castro. My cousin was like him when she first arrived to the USA to live with us, 30 years ago; my mother sponsored her. Back then she too sang the praises of Castro. Today she tells me her father is brainwashed and confesses she too was like him when she arrived
Brainwashing. Its a real phenomenon.
CRT, Woke, BLM, Transgender, gender affirming hormonal therapy, “truth to power”, all Marixsm.

Desmet’s “The Psychology of Totalitarianism” describes this process. Bezmenov did as well. Both of them describe a slow, Marxist revolutionary process to get to a totalitarian state. It sounds as though Cuba followed the Soviet model and had a revolution first, and then they radically transformed the culture.
Estovir, after Castro took power, my dad returned from the mailbox with a picture of Fidel Castro on the cover page of Life Magazine that included a positive story. He held the magazine up with Castro’s face, and with disgust said, “we will rue the day…” followed by the words communist and dictator. He had more to say including the point that Castro wasn’t a true communist but the worst type of dictator. He was not in love with Batista but always said Cuba would be worse off than before.
My parents reminded me often that during Batista there were jobs, freedoms, right to pursue one’s goals, churches were open, public and Catholic Cuban education were first rate in all of Latin America, immigrants from Europe and Asia came to Cuba after WWII, Chinese, fleeing Mao, opened dry cleaning stores who barely knew Spanish, but customers were loyal to them and the Chinese were thankful for their businesses flourishing, Jews too came to Cuba, and tourism in Cuba was such a money maker, with hotels and restaurants and the economy thriving, due in part to a agricultural industry that was the envy of the Western Hemisphere, that no one gave a thought to Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, et al . As soon as Castro took power, all disappeared. Physicians coming from Cuba today are woefully unprepared. Nurses are marginal. Many Cubans on the island have academic degrees because of the lauded “free education”. They wait on tables, drive taxis and beg for money. Like Castro, Communist Cuba is a lie. I literally belong to the last generation that knows anything about the culture of Cuba that was extraordinary.
Americans should take note because it is happening here today, now, with the Left
Saviors who arrive as saints and perfect leaders often are among the worst, while those with warts do the saving. We should look deeper to recognize man is imperfect, yet many times, those imperfections are what makes a good leader.
“If someone at the AP, outside of Gaza, knew about the impending terror attacks and did nothing to prevent it, then they are the enemy of Israel and all Jews.”
They are the enemy for all moral people.
What you say is true. We need to analyze why those reporters thought their actions appropriate.
The left distorts truth and morality.
The left dehumanizes anyone not in agreement.
In particular, the left has demonized the Jew.
Those things can make a person immune to the usual prompts from a normal brain that informs the individual of right and wrong.
What are those people lacking? A moral foundation that religion can provide. What makes things worse is these people have adopted a new religion, leftism, where morality is considered an impediment in reaching their desired endpoint, which is nothing more than a dream.

Every morning, the opening prayer for the Office of the Readings, in the Liturgy of the Hours is the “Invitatory Prayer”, contained in Psalm 95. Would that Jews and Christians started their mornings with such a prayer. Even in their worst times, Jews believed that God was and is worthy of Praise and Thanksgiving.
Psalm 95
Venite, exultemus
Come, let us sing to the Lord
and shout with joy to the Rock who saves us.
Let us approach him with praise and thanksgiving
and sing joyful songs to the Lord.
Antiphon
The Lord is God, the mighty God,
the great king over all the gods.
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth
and the highest mountains as well
He made the sea; it belongs to him,
the dry land, too, for it was formed by his hands.
Antiphon
Come, then, let us bow down and worship,
bending the knee before the Lord, our maker,
For he is our God and we are his people,
the flock he shepherds.
Antiphon
Today, listen to the voice of the Lord:
Do not grow stubborn, as your fathers did in the wilderness,
when at Meriba and Massah they challenged me and provoked me,
Although they had seen all of my works.
Antiphon
Forty years I endured that generation.
I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray
and they do not know my ways.
So I swore in my anger,
“They shall not enter into my rest.”
Antiphon
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Prayer is very much a part of Judaism perhaps more so than in Christianity (quantity wise).
In secular terms it tells us we are not the center of the universe, and that evil fads such as leftism pass leaving little good behind.
“A moral foundation that religion can provide.”
A “foundation” that religious leaders admit cannot be proven. A “foundation” that is built on faith, not on evidence and reason. That is not a foundation. That is quicksand.
Sam, that quicksand provided Jews a culture of almost 4,000 years that positively affected the world to a degree much more considerable than their population.
