One of the long-standing unanswered questions from the January 6th riot has been why the Capitol was so poorly prepared and defended on that day. A newly released transcript has caused a firestorm in Washington over allegations that the J6 Committee downplayed or even suppressed evidence that former President Donald Trump personally suggested the deployment of 10,000 national guard troops to prevent violence.
The transcript also includes contradictions of major allegations that ran wild in the media. That includes the claim that Trump tried to physically grab the steering wheel of the presidential limo, “The Beast,” when Secret Service refused to take him to the Capitol. Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson was the source of the claim, which appeared in most of the media and was highlighted in her testimony. However, it appears that the J6 Committee had testimony of secret service agents directly contradicting that account, including the driver.
However, it is the National Guard question that is more weighty for historical purposes.
Trump has long claimed that he proposed the deployment of the National Guard troops (as was done previously at the White House during violent protests). The January 6th Committee said that was a lie.
The release of the transcript by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R., Ga.) triggered attacks on the J6 Committee. The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway wrote a column titled “Former Rep. Liz Cheney’s January 6 Committee suppressed evidence.”
That triggered an angry response from former co-chair Liz Cheney which led to an even angrier reply from commentator Mark Levin.
The anger is nothing new in a J6 investigation that seemed to produce more heat than light. Cheney’s spokesperson called the Federalist report “flatly false” and added “no transcripts were destroyed” while acknowledging that some material was not published “to allow the Secret Service to protect sensitive security information for interviews of its agents before preserving that testimony in the archives.”
The issue of the suppression or destruction of the evidence has drawn a lot of attention, but the more troubling question is the fact that such an offer was made and declined.
The Committee found “no evidence” that the Trump administration called for 10,000 National Guard members to Washington, D.C., to protect the Capitol.
That now stands contradicted and the question is whether Cheney or other members knew the public was being misled on the question. For example, the Washington Post “debunked” Trump’s comments with an award of “Four Pinocchios.”
The Post’s Glenn Kessler admitted that Trump raised the issue but noted that he might have been suggesting the troops “not because he wanted to protect the Capitol,” but to suggest that he and his supporters were being threatened. He added that “Trump brought up the issue on at least three occasions but in such vague and obtuse ways that no senior official regarded his words as an order.”
However, the issue is not whether Trump issued “an order” but made an offer that was declined. For those of us who were covering the event on that day, the question has always been prominent in our minds. I was critical of Trump’s speech while he was still giving it. However, before the Capitol was breached, I also noted that I had never seen the Capitol so thinly protected in a major protest.
We had just seen violent protests outside of the White House with a large number of police officers injured and extensive property damage, including arson. President Trump and his family had to be moved to a secure location out of concern of an imminent breach of the White House. National Guard were deployed and fencing installed.
Even without an offer, it remains unclear why the violence around the White House did not prompt Congress to install the same barriers and deploy the same troops. (They ultimately took both steps but only after the rioters gained entry into the Capitol).
Moreover, if an offer was clearly made, it undermines the allegations that Trump was actively seeking an insurrection. While he has never been charged with an insurrection or even incitement, that allegation was used more recently to support his disqualification from the ballots in Colorado, Maine, and Illinois.
The transcript contains the testimony of former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato’s interview on January 2022 with Cheney present. Ornato states that he clearly recalled the offer of 10,000 troops being made by Trump in a conversation with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser:
“I was there, and he was on the phone with her and wanted to make sure she had everything that she needed. Because I think it was the concern of anti and pro groups clashing is what I recall…I remember the number 10,000 coming up of, you know, the President wants to make sure that you have enough. You know, he is willing to ask for 10,000. I remember that number.”
Ornato said that Browser said that they would not need the troops. (She ultimately asked for only 300 troops). There are also reports that then Speaker Nancy Pelosi was worried about the “optics” of military reinforcements at the Capitol.
Ornato also said that he recalled that, after Bowser refused additional National Guard members, the White House requested the Defense Department have a “quick reaction force” ready on that day. He gave details on meetings with the Defense Department and follow up from Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
Hemingway noted in her report that Ornato’s testimony was supported by former Trump administration aide Kash Patel. Cheney has attacked Patel as unreliable.
Ornato also testified that Meadows and others were frustrated by the delay in getting those troops to the Hill. The delay was blamed on the logistics, not some conspiracy to enable or facilitate an insurrection.
The Federalist article makes additional allegations, including that Cheney was behind an op-ed by her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, opposing any use of national guard troops on January 6th.
However, even proving such duplicity would hardly be news for Washington. Likewise, it does not negate criticism over Trump’s comments on that day or his delay in publicly calling for supporters to withdraw.
Yet, again, what is more important historically is whether the J6 Committee had direct evidence that Trump made the offer of thousands of troops and that the White House pushed for rapid deployment troops on that day.
I have previously criticized the one-sided J6 Report and the biased framing of the hearings held by the members. The Committee could have been so much more than the echo chamber that it became. However, this latest transcript adds questions over the perplexing failure of Congress to take obvious steps to prevent a riot.
Had Congress simply installed the same fencing previously used at the White House and deployed such troops, the J6 riot would likely have never occurred. Given the cost and trauma to our nation, we should want to know the full story of what occurred on January 6th.
It was a DNC/Pelosi political hit job. Even Ray Charles could see this one.

Why has no one heard from Bowser, considering the storyline is that Meadows was on the phone with her? Either it’s the truth or she could deny it. I haven’t seen anything from her. If she admits it’s the truth, she blows the narrative out of the water. Seems her silence tends support what being reported.
Kenb5602,
That is a good point.
Something to think on.
Thank you.

JANUARY 6th 2021 WAS STAGED – THE WHOLE THING WAS CHOREOGRAPHED[.]
I’m guessing that Dem’s had it planned and Kevin Morris (Hunter’s Atty) had something to do with it.
JT, you really got brainwashed. In the days leading up to Jan 6th, nobody knew exactly what was going to happen. Trump was expecting Mike Pence to carry out the Trump-Eastman-Giuliani Plan — to mickey the EC Count at the Joint Session, and then declare Donald Trump the winner of the Electoral College. The plotters anticipated this announcement would unleash rage among left-wing rioters. That’s why Trump asked Mayor Browser if it would be a good idea to have 10,000 troops — but he didn’t give his reasoning.
Now, as part of the cover-up, Trump is boasting “the 10,000 troops could have quelled the violence at the Capitol, but Browser and Pelosi had a different idea”. He is indulging in scapegoating, and utilizing a generous dose of ex post facto reasoning — the “conspiracy” he’s pushing that Dems wanted a melee to break out at the Capitol only makes sense if they magically knew in advance that the chaos would rage and then be tamped down. Why would any Democrat risk Biden’s Certification being stalled to generate some conflict theatrics? They’d only take that risk knowing with certainty the way Jan 6th would end with Biden being named the winner. But none of this could be predicted in advance. Trump’s lame narrative assumes Dems knew the outcome in advance. He gets caught in yet another lie.
More mind reading eh?
Not only that, you have a crystal ball too! Or is it fish guts?
It all fits together like the end of a detective novel. Trump boasts in his Ellipse speech what he is expecting to happen that afternoon in Congress – he wants the crowd to move to the Capitol to witness his spectacular, lawyer-trick comeback. Of course, he expects the leftists to go beserk in response — that’s why he asks Browser for 10,000 troops. Of course, he cannot explain why they will be needed — why give away his surprise?…so she isn’t convinced of the need and declines.
The main point for Dems: There was no planned insurrection. The plan was a peaceful, lawyer-driven coup.
The main points for Repubs: Trump & Co. planned a coup, and ever since has been a lying coward about admitting what he attempted. “There was no insurrection” opposes the Dem false narrative, but offers no defense for what REALLY occurred. “I thought I’d make a better President” , and “My lawyers told me to do it” are the best he can do. Those won’t work in Court.
“It all fits together like the end of a detective novel.”
Yes. It does.
Like any other work of fiction. Not based in reality.
Thank you for proving my point.
When Mark Meadows comes clean in front of the Jury to avoid going to prison, only then will the political narrative-spinners on both sides have to sit down and shut up. The truth will be quite unsatisfactory to both sides. But, finally, we’ll get to hear it. Dems will look foolish. Repubs will look foolish. Independents will look smart.
And you will look foolish no matter the outcome.
Us Independents will look at you as the dumber of two choices.
The entirety of the lefts claims requires Republicans – like Meadows to contradict all prior public statements – and/or testimony and to testify to what Democrats beleive without any evidence happened.
That did not work for Mueller and it will not work for Smith.
Mueller was not even able to flip cohen.
Or more accurately Mueller flipped Cohen but Cohen had no damning truth to offer, and was not going to lie when it was absolutely trivial to prove he was lying.
Not one is going to “flip” – Why ?
Because one of the things about a huge conspiracy is that one way or the other the actual truth always comes out.
You can role up a criminal conspiracy by getting one person to “flip” providing even a small amount of truthful information gives you even more leverage against the next, and so on until you roll the whole thing up.
Only very very small conspiracies where there is huge amounts of trust or mutually assured destruction are unbreakable.
But the exact same it true in reverse. You can not make ANY headway if in truth there is NO criminal conspiracy.
Getting one person to “flip” gives you nothing – if they tell you the truth – it gets you nowhere – because there is no
“criminal conspiracy” There MIGHT be a conspiracy, but getting more and more bits of the truth gets you nowhere unless it is criminal. You can not even get dishonest people like Cohen to “roll” – because only the truth is useful. You can not manufacture a criminal conspiracy from lies. You actually make your case WORSE the more you know.
Mueller was about the “roll” Cohen – who would have told the Feds everything – if he actually had anything criminal to tell them. Mueller would have given Coehn a free ride – if Cohen had anything useful to give.
Cohen was actually smart enough not to lie – MOSTLY, knowing that lying to Mueller about Trump – no matter how appealing the lie – it would not hold up to scrutiny – and then Cohen would have been even in more hot water.
Mueller tried to roll many others.
Those of you on the left seem to beleive people who never met Trump and whose ties were tenuous were even more committed to not rolling on Trump than the Mafia and the code of Omerta in its heyday.
That is just not reality. Flynn, Papadoulous, Page, Van Zandt, would have rolled on Trump if they had anything to give.
And Manafort and Stone would have rolled in a heart beat.
But innocent people have nothing to give – no matter how much you threaten them, no matter how badly they want outr, no matter how much preasure you put on them.
There is zero doubt that law enforcement and prosecutors have sufficient power that they can get nearly everyone to confess to nearly anything given enough time and pressure.
Just about every single person on the innocence projectes “exhonerated” list eventually confessed to a crime they did not commit.
Personally I beleive our law on police coercion is wrong. The police should be allowed to coerce confessions. But they should NOT be allowed to admit the confession. But they SHOULD be allowed to use the confession to obtain further evidence.
The coerced confession of an innocent person will not get you anywhere – because they do not know anything, and feeding them details of what you do know, will not enable them to tell you things you do not know.
You can get Meadows and company to all flip. It gets you absolutely nowhere if there is no crime.
I beleive you have gotten guilty pleas so far. Everyone is a sweetheart deal. No jail time, unsupervised parole, the confessions are not even real confessions to actual crimes. at the expiration of parole the conviction is remved from their record, and the whole thing can not be used by the Bar to discipline them.
After deals like this with Ellis, Chesboro, Powel – you would think Willis would have gotten something.
Every single one of them has been deposed, and the results of the depositions have been no inculpatory information, and even more exculpatory information. When your “cooperating” witnesses – people you have gotten to plead, are harming your case with their cooperative testimony – it is time to realize you are snipe hunting – there is no crime.
Everything is exactly as it appears.
Regardless, you can get almost anyone to plead guilty to almost anything.
You can not get innocent people to provide you with damning evidence against others on a crime thet never happened.
What you end up with is exactly what happened with Hutchinson. She was rolled by the J6 committtee. She gave them what they wanted – a somewhat damning story. But then multiple witnessses confirmed the story was false.
You can only flip someone and get them to tell a damning truth – if there is a dmaning truth to tell.
Upstate, PbinCA started with opinions to prevent the media from promoting lies, though she only talked about controversial statements from the right. Her discussion degenerated into her becoming a Beria type, so given the man, she could demonstrate the crime.
Since then, she has devolved more. She can’t keep on track or respond to proven facts. She mind-reads and lies. She has degenerated into the realm of the most ridiculous anonymous posters like Bug. Her opinions are directed in all directions, and she cannot focus on what she believes. She has become a Borg, and Rachel Madow tells her how to think.
The only way she can redeem herself is to stick to one point and debate it to the end. She will not and cannot do that.
Keep spinning.
BTW Trump did give a reason for wanting the NG – He did not trust pelosi, the CP or MPD not to provoke violence with his protestors,
He fully expected that left wing nuts and antifa would be present and trying to turn the protests violent.
If you are going to cite the Eastman plan – which is also the Tribe plan for Hillary atleast get it right.
The actual plan is that the VP Biden in 2017, Pence in 2021 would skip controversial states, and/or offer the alternate slates of electors from those states. Contra Pence that is perfectly constitutional.
Regardless the VP can not unilaterally certify each slate of electors – he gets to present the slates, Congress can challenge those slates – a challenge requires on representative and one state senator, if there is both a senator and a representative challenging that slate, then congress voters whether to accept the slate.
That is what Trump wanted Pence to do.
Thje alternative was if Congress did NOT vote to accept slates of electiors from 3 of the contested states, the entire election would be thrown to congress, and if pretty much every single republican voted for Trump, Biden would have lost. The voting by congress for president is weird – the vote is by state, with the representatives of each state having one vote, and a state goes to the candidate that gets a simple majority of the congressmen from that state.
While Trump could have afforded to lose all republicans in blue states, and some republicans in some red states. In every single pink state or purple state Trump would have to get the votes of every single republican. icongressmen from that state.
Not going to happen – and Trump new it.
The Better plan – also in the worls was for if Republicans were clearly going to be able to prevent certification – and that was not a sure thing.
Plenty of republicans in congress do not support Trump.
The Cruze was going to propose a 10 day delay, and have congress direct the NG to recount ballots in the controversial states.
That still would have resulted in a Biden victory. For Trump to win required properly rejecting mailin ballots without proper ID
That is NOT possible after mailin ballots were separated from their envelopes.
Here’s cool story, that is OT, but maybe not. Because it shows the depth of delusion of the Democrat Left, and how they work themselves up to imagine all sorts of things:
A writer for lefty woke outlet Medium is facing ridicule for penning an article complaining about the lack of black actors in a new TV show about Samurai warriors in Japan in the year 1600.
” I ask the question now that I naively didn’t ask in 1980. Where are the Black people?” he adds.
In Africa, that’s the short answer. But no, Spivey isn’t done. He goes on to claim that there absolutely were black people in Japan in 1600 and some of them were Samurai warriors.
“I don’t ask out of a desire to see representation when it wasn’t historically accurate. I inquire because there were Black people in Japan in 1600 and before, though Japan could teach Florida a thing or two about rewriting history,” he claims.
Not content with that unverifiable and inaccurate claim, he made up a ‘Japanese’ proverb, that goes “For a Samurai to be brave, he must have a bit of Black blood.”
Note Spivey’s capitalisation of the word ‘black’. This proverb, if it exists at all which it likely doesn’t, is not referring to black people, but rather darkness of the soul.
Respondents, including black people, pointed out that all of this is nuts and yet another example of the insane fringe effort to blackify history, which has included baseless claims of black ancient Britons, Romans, scholars, Mesolithic hunter-gatherers, and the list goes on.

Good luck thinking that providing evidence that exculpates Trump will have any effect on these bozos. They do not live in an evidence-based reality, many of them.
Floyd,
This is what happens when people live in a bubble and never get out of their safe space and experience reality.
I was stationed in Japan for year. Unless they were military, I did not see any black people in the general populace. And I went off base on a fairly regular basis.
Same thing for South Korea, and China.
Reminds me of those two over-indocrinated professor and journalist with their book on the threat to democracy rural America presents.
These boogers are nutz! They are claiming Anne Bolyn was black, and Lancelot, and vikings, and I guess next, BlackBeard the Pirate! They are all tetched in the head!
Apparently During Special Counsel Hur’s examination of the Geezer of the United States, Biden made car noises.
The J6 committee had testimony from the driver that another witness’ claim that President Trump lunged for the steering wheel of “The Beast” was false. The driver’s testimony was buried and our worse than useless media and corrupt J6 committee went with the crazy but false story.
As suspected, the J6 committee, the White House and Fani Willis were in touch. Dig deeper and we may learn thar Bragg and James and others were being coordinated from the center.
No wonder everything is going to hell.
Makes me want to sit in a corner and do nothing but make car noises. That works for some.
I used to like airplane noises but since Boeing and Air Traffic Control, and several major airlines have gone all in on DEI [or is it DIE] I am afraid of them.
Listen, you can choose not to believe Cassidy Hutchison’s testimony before the J6 committee.
I for one, find it entirely plausible that President Trump, being the top tier MMA fighter that he is, easily outmaneuvered his Secret Service agents with lightning-fast Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves, expertly restraining them with seat belts, disarming them, and ejecting the driver.
Smirking triumphantly, after gaining control of the steering wheel, he declared, “The Beast has a new driver today.”

Young,
All their narratives are falling apart.
What distraction is just around the corner to deflect away from all their failures?
You see the travel web site Kayak has a feature to filter out Boeing aircraft? I know I would be leery of flying on one of them.
Upstate, Thanks for that about Kayak. I may use that feature.
Decades ago I worked briefly for Boeing as a tool and die maker, a beginner with elemental skills. We bought our own tools and mine were in a little tool box similar to one now in my garage. The guys who really knew what they were doing had massive red chests of precision tools on rollers. On the first day the new hires were gathered and given the Boeing philosophy, ” we make the best airplane in the world and we expect you always to reach for perfection in your work.” That’s a rough paraphrase but you get the idea. The masters with the giant toolboxes shared that ideal. I experienced it when I asked for their guidance on a project I was working on. I thought then that I will always feel safe on a Boeing plane. That’s back when engineers shaped philosophy. Since then bean counters and DEI enthusiasts seem to have taken charge and I will look for other equipment to fly on when I travel. Thank you for the Kyak info.
Young,
Well said and spot on.
At one point in time, Americans took pride in their work. Some still do. But as I have seen in the DoD contractor world, it is the get the most out of the contract with the least work/expense and screw the DoD and the American taxpayer.
I got fired from a DoD contractor for being too honest.
And I was perfectly okay with that.
Good for you. We have to live with ourselves and I couldn’t any more than you can doing what you describe the DoD contractor wanting. I would feel soiled with a dirt I couldn’t wash off. I would also worry about the folks putting trust, maybe their lives, in my work.
You see the travel web site Kayak has a feature to filter out Boeing aircraft?
If only Darren could install on this website a feature that filters DNC paid trolls. It would make for less CO2 emissions, cooler temperatures and fewer beached whales 🐳
😎
J6 was a Whitmer conspiracy with Pelosi adjuvants brayed by the Democrats and sympathetic sects in order rationalize abortion of demos-cracy in darkness.
Jonathan: I’ll get to your “report” shortly but first there is another “report” out in the form of a book that once again puts the lie to DJT’s continued claim the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Ken Block has a new book out entitled “Disproven”. For those with short memories on this blog, Block is a software forensic expert hired by DJT for $750,000, shortly after the election, to try to prove massive voter fraud in the swing states. Block came back with a long report saying he could find no fraud. For instance, Block found only 200 duplicate mail-in-ballot votes that were fraudulently cast in ALL the swing states–not enough to be determinative. DJT didn’t like Block’s report so he was dismissed. In his book Block says: “Former President Trump has turned losing with grace into losing with disgrace”.
Despite the forensic evidence and the 60+ lawsuits he lost before a variety of judges in the swing states, DJT still peddles the lie on the campaign trail that the 2020 election was “stolen” from him. Call it cognitive dissonance or cognitive impairment the former president is not firing on all his cylinders. Anyone on this blog still support DJT’s claim?
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/doing-your-own-research-is-a-good-way-to-end-up-being-wrong/ar-AA1n7pEv?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=f09669a571ff4d52b4822cb10227c970&ei=19
Doesn’t matter now, does it? But if biden gets more votes than Trump next time, I will be 100% assured that both the 2020 and 2024 elections were stolen.
Yeah! I still do. Because I believe Democrats steal elections all the time. It is the real reason they are against Voter ID. Because, c’mon, blacks can’t get IDs? Bullsh!t!
Because election fraud is hard to prove. Here’s one example. There were over 100,000 fraudulent ballots cast in 1982 in a gubernatorial primary in Chicago. Over 63 people were involved in the scheme. Know how they got caught. One of the conspirators did not get the city job he was promised, so he ratted out the scheme. That’s how they got caught. No fancy FBI investigation until somebody flipped.
https://www.heritage.org/election-integrity/report/where-theres-smoke-theres-fire-100000-stolen-votes-chicago
Here, read this:
“A former Judge of Elections has been convicted for his role in accepting bribes to cast fraudulent ballots and certifying false voting results during the 2014, 2015, and 2016 primary elections in Philadelphia.
During his guilty plea hearing, Demuro admitted that while serving as an elected municipal Judge of Elections, he accepted bribes in the form of money and other things of value in exchange for adding ballots to increase the vote totals for certain candidates on the voting machines in his jurisdiction and for certifying tallies of all the ballots, including the fraudulent ballots. Demuro further admitted that a local political consultant gave him directions and paid him money to add votes for candidates supported by the consultant, including candidates for judicial office whose campaigns actually hired the consultant, and other candidates for various federal, state and local elective offices preferred by that consultant for a variety of reasons. Demuro also admitted that the votes he added in exchange for payments by the political consultant increased the number of votes fraudulently recorded and tallied for the consultant’s clients and preferred candidates, thereby diluting the ballots cast by actual voters.
Demuro fraudulently stuffed the ballot box by literally standing in a voting booth and voting over and over, as fast as he could, while he thought the coast was clear.

Crap like this is hard to catch.
Now why would you bring up known historical truths. How did Kennedy win? Look that one up too.
Did he win the same way he lost???
I am not sure if it was ever proven that Daley Machine cheated, although my guess would be that they did. The problem is, that nothing really changed since then, or since 1982 in Chicago, or in Pennsylvania later. In fact, it became easier to cheat when the mail-in option was expanded, and when the time for voting was spread out. No party on the outs could afford to watch everything 24/7 for months on end. For me personally, the fact that the Democrats are rabidly against VoterID, for the most specious of reasons, is an indication that cheating plays a large part in their strategy. And if we did have voter ID, then it would still be possible to cheat, in a big way. Just a little harder.
Trump won.
Biden is a scumbag POS politician and EVERYONE with eyes and ears KNOWS it.
Fraud cannot easily be “proved” which is how they “get away with it.”
Where are the throngs of enthusiastic 81,000,000 Biden voters? The MOST EVER IN HISTORY?
Nowhere to be found. F’n crickets. Why? Because the election was STOLEN.
They freakin’ stopped counting in the wee hours of the morning in ALL the key swing states until they “found” all the ballots they needed to give Biden the “win.”
We know what they did.
They know what they did.
They are planning, right now. to do it all again.
WE WILL NOT ALLOW THEM.
Dennis – “Rigged” is a better word than “stolen”. It is incontestible that the general election, like the primaries, was rigged.
He did not lose the cases you are referencing. They were dismissed as having no standing after the election, or before because no harm had yet occurred. Not one thing you claimed is true.
Dennis did the forensic computer expert, find that ballott harvest never happened in states that have laws forbidding it?. Did forensic computer expert explain how a single person could do 70,000 signature verification per hour? Did the expert forensic computer expert explain how a jurisdiction mailed out 100% of their ballots when the law only allowed mailed out ballots after a request?
Retard
Tell me Dennis, how many of those “60+” lawsuits were decided after a trial on the merits? And if there were any, please summarize the allegations in the complaint.
Thank you
Dennis: thank you. You rhetorically ask whether Trump disciples believe the Big Lie–they do, and they always will–which is what makes them disciples. They are fact-immune. If he says millions of dead people voted–they believe it, even though the evidence proves this can’t be true. If he claims that illegals and underage people voted–they buy it. If he claims there were more voters than citizens in a district or state–they believe it–even though there is contrary proof. Trump is already setting the stage for losing in November–which he will. Republicans are training poll watchers, whom I guarantee now, in early March, will claim they witnessed all sorts of irregularities when Trump loses in November. In fact, they are probably being groomed for the types of lies they will tell that they will claim amount to fraud.
The worst thing of all is that what these people are really doing is feeding the ego of a mentally ill person–someone patently unfit to be the leader of the free world–not just because he has proven he is a lousy leader, but someone whois fundamentally ignorant of US history and civics. Trump craves absolute power, and will say or do anything to get what he wants, which, at this point, is revenge because he lost in 2020. He tells his fans that he is their “retribution”–for what? Why do people fall for this BS? His proposals are universally unpopular–banning all abortions, repealing Obamacare, cutting Social Security and Medicare, cutting all aid to Ukraine–to pay back Putin for helping him cheat in 2016, and tax cuts for the most-wealthy. He is someone who just can’t stop lying, someone for whom the rule of law means nothing–not just based on the federal criminal cases which he thinks the SCOTUS will get him out of, but the E. Jean Carroll verdict–despite being hit with $80-some million in damages, he keeps on lying about not ever having met her, despite photographic proof, and he keeps slandering her. He is someone who has gotten away with doing whatever he wants his entire life. Daddy always bailed him out of one failed business after another until he became incompetent, so the bankruptcy courts bailed him out of his failed businesses. Now, with his daughter in law in leadership in the RNC, the RNC will supposedly bail him out to the tune of hundreds of millions in damages for falsifying financial records. And, he keeps on lying. The fans keep on cheering, even when he speaks incoherently, mixes up Biden and Obama, mixes up Pelosi with Hillary Clinton, lies about passing the Veterans Relief Act that Obama signed into law, lies about his record and Biden’s record. The fans don’t care, they can’t be persuaded with the truth, and THAT’S scary.
Giggily
Apparently about 90 million people are prepared to scare you, come November. You must be terrified. Here is what you cheered thru just this past weekend.
Apologized for saying “illegal”, when referring to a murderer, rather than to the victims family, whose name he predictably got wrong. Had to be walked back by the White House as not an apology.
Referred to the capitol riot as “July 6th”
Said we made a mistake “going in to Ukraine”
Or how about these two gems, also from the last few days
“Pennsylvania, I have a message for you: Send me to Congress!”
“we cut the deficit and we added more to the national debt than any president in his term in all of history,”
Are you proud of those, little cultist??? Fangirl, what say you?
The Big Lie = Biden “won”
Gigi — tell us, what YEAR, precisely, was E. Jean “allegedly” raped by Trump in a fitting room?
There is only one “principle” to the “never Trump” crowd: get Trump. Any amount of lying, cheating, violence or mayhem that may be required is fully justified – by definition. I don’t even like Trump. But the frenzy of his opposition is certainly a threat to the Republic.
You know just occurred to me??? Something I should have thought of a long time ago. You know what Trump was doing, when he tried to get Mike Pence to do his thing with the electors? It wasn’t insurrection – it was LAWFARE! It was a brand new, novel concept in the law, and no different from all the other lawfare being practiced by the Democrat Left!
Floyd, I think you’re onto something there.
It occurs to me, the ‘Democrat Left’ and D.J. Trump are two peoples separated by a common language.
*one man’s insurrection/coup, is another man’s perfectly legal challenge.
One man’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter. The victors write history.
What you’re describing is rule of the jungle. Under rule of law, a Court is convened with a jury to hear evidence presented by adversaries, with cross-examination. The jury then deliberates and returns to the courtroom as deciders-of-fact.
Under this system, the truth wins. Those in the right win. Those in the wrong lose. History is told objectively by the winners, who were righteous and truthful.
It’s not a perfect system, but it sure beats rule-of the-jungle. That’s why our founders gave it to us.
Question: Will we be able to further improve on it, and pass it along?….or give up and revert to the jungle?
Except what Trump wanted Pence to do was completely illegal.
Special counsel Hur squares off with White House, says Biden ‘willfully retained’ classified memos
“Judiciary Committee Chairman Jordan says Biden kept classified documents to help write a book that earned him $8 million.”
https://justthenews.com/government/congress/watch-live-special-counsel-hur-testifies-house-judiciary-biden-classified
Another one of your narratives falling apart.
Sammy, that law was passed after the 2020 eletion. So congress passed a law against something you claim was always against the law.
The law was passed in the 1870s, but it is also against the constitution. Never has the VP has the ability to throw out EC votes.
OT — watching Hur hearing. Jordan made a good point that Biden had 8 million reasons to take and keep documents — the amount that he was paid to write his memoir (contradicts motive/intent that Hur found lacking due to senility).
While Hur was asked about the documents that Biden removed when he was a Senator (some time before 2009), no one thus far has really probed how exactly the Senate documents were removed and kept — since Biden had no right to them, there had to be an intent to remove and keep when he was aware that he was not entitled to them, at least in the past when he was mentally competent enough to remove from the SCIF. And that likely happened more than once since there were many older documents. They likely didn’t just attach themselves to him — he had to take an action to surreptitiously take them so that whatever guards/personnel didn’t see him remove them. Or did someone else remove them — then how did he acquire them? Still requires intent. I get that he’s a kindly old man with a poor memory but he wasn’t in 2009 and before.
Also, they only recently discovered the documents — not believable. He shared them with his ghostwriter years before. He kept them after that rather than returning them. He knew that he wasn’t supposed to have them. Also, they were located in many different buildings. That indicates that he had a reason to move certain documents and not others. Why? But again, there’s a conscious thought required to take some and not others at the time that they were removed. He had to have security training many times over his 50 years in government and had to have know that it was wrong.
Van Drew made a good point that had Biden been driving while old and had hit someone, he’d be charged. No other President has ever been charged with document crimes. Biden’s ghostwriter, who destroyed the tapes (but kept the transcripts) wasn’t charged with destruction. Biden had the wherewithal to retain and disclose the documents to bolster his legacy, again showing intent. This all looks like a double standard, and that’s without discussing Hillary’s willful removal, retention and destruction.
Hur said that partisan politics had no place in his decisions. I still haven’t seen enough to differentiate the treatment of the two Presidents. The access that Hunter had is even more concerning, given his contacts with foreign countries and payments from foreign actors given his lack of actual business acumen and skills.
And this, where one video is Gaetz ripping Joe a new rear-end!

Floyd,
Seems to me another narrative is failing or falling apart.
Thx for the update.
*hope someone asks Hur if a sitting president is the final authority on all matters of ‘national security’ and what information can, or can not, be ‘classified’.
Sd,
Thank you for bringing up those points.
Indict and convict Hur for deliberate and malicious abuse of power, prosecutorial dereliction, and negligence.
Why would trump want national guard on Jan 6? Those were “his” people. He even wanted to walk to the Capitol with them, an idea that was nixed by the SS. The previous instance when trump ordered the National Guard, like when he went and read his bible in front of the church, were because the people protesting were not “his” people. They were black and brown, not exactly the type of people trump likes around him, except in AI generated photos.
It will be another 10 years at least before we get a full picture of Jan 6. Don’t be so quick to exonerate anyone.
How about if you quickly tell the class what passage Trump read from the Bible, in your reality?
Is this the reality you don’t want to see?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_photo_op_at_St._John%27s_Church
Oh I thought about it and I think you may be on to something. trump probably did not read from the Bible because he doesn’t read. He just looks at the pictures and draws with his sharpie.
No, what i was on to was that you lied about what happened, and then used a proven unreliable source for any other claim you might make regarding the event.
I believe you thought about it and realized you were wrong, and spreading lies.
Just so you know, you really didn’t win the Publishers’ Clearing House Sweepstakes. Okay?
You prove the opposite of what you’re trying to. Trump asked “his people” to protest peacefully. That is entirely consistent with wanting the National Guard in case anything got out of hand. It is precisely the fact that the protesters were “his people” (as you put it) that proves he did not intend or want it to become violent.
As for your claim of racism . . . you’re disconnected the facts that any unbiased observer can readily see with Trump, that he is many things but not a racist. Think of all the “black and brown” people in his cabinet, and that he’s willingly done business with over the decades. He’s a businessman who cares about merit first and foremost, not race. You totally discredit yourself with that one.
Trump has owned hospitality based entertainment businesses which both employed and served minorities including gays and lesbians. If youve ever been to a live show theater performance, most of the employed men are gay men. Audiences and food servers / bartenders in said shows have black and brown folk in large numbers, e.g. casinos
The Left only use black and brown people like me to either
1. abort us (blacks kill their own babies more than whites and hispanics combined making Planned Barrenhood / DNC lots of money)
2. use us (e.g. the racist Latinx term) to push their Orwellian speak, and/or
3. do a high tech lynching of us (e.g. Clarence Thomas)
…all so as to further their agenda.
Estovir,
Well said.
I went to a comedy show the other week at a casino.
I saw and heard a number of clearly not white people working as employees.
We were short on time so we ate at their food court. The place was packed. Lines for all the food court venues. When I got up to order, I was polite, knew what I wanted without hemming and hawwing, smiled and said please and thank you to the nice, white, young lady taking my order.
Despite my obvious non-white status, she slipped me an extra pork egg roll, no charge. 🙂
The previous instance when trump ordered the National Guard, like when he went and read his bible in front of the church,
Small fact omitted. On Purpose. Bowser asked the President for those NG troops
Why would Trump have wanted additional security for a large crowd of supporters? A skeleton crew would be inadequate for any large crowd. Often protests are met with counter-protesters. Belt & suspenders. Better to err on the side of caution where the public safety was concerned. Think about the violent riots that occurred across the country after George Floyd’s death in 2020; no way to predict that they wouldn’t also show up.
I agree that there’s a lot that we don’t know that will only slowly be revealed.
These are logical points but they don’t serve the anti-Trump narrative, which is all that matters to certain (mostly anonymous) commenters.
“They were black and brown, not exactly the type of people trump likes around him, except in AI generated photos.”
The Democrat Left loves to throw out the racist gibes and smears. But, Black people, particularly the poorer ones, are the kind of people that pretty much no white people like around them, particularly rich white liberals. That is why wealthier white people do not send their kids to predominantly black schools, and why they live in bedroom communities or gated communities. Even black people, who can afford it, do not like to live around poor blacks.
Nobody wants to come right out and say it, because it sounds racist, but the truth is, Scott Adams and John Derbyshire were slow learners. It took them decades to figure out what the Archie Bunker types had figured out back in the 1970s. Even Don Lemon gets it. Or at least he did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkQJItuIjTw
If you can put yourself in Trump’s head leading up to Jan6th, it’s obvious he wanted 10,000 troops on hand to quell leftist rioting, in response to VP Pence announcing Trump as the winner at the Joint Session. That’s what Trump meant by “it will be wild”….a shocking comeback reached through lawyerly plotting to mickey the EC Count….Trump named as the next President by Mike Pence…..and the left going beserk in the streets. Thus, Trump suggested to Mayor Browser that 10,000 troops would be a good idea. He didn’t explain why, or what he was expecting to happen.
Then, after the fact as a cover-up, Trump suggests “those 10,000 troops could have quelled the rioting at the Capitol, but Pelosi and Browser nixxed the idea”. Again, Trump refuses to take responsibility when things go sideways, and instead uses scapegoating and lies.
But, when the DC trial gets underway this Fall, the honest story of J6th — which will deflate both the left’s and the right’s crooked narratives — will be put into the record. No planned insurrection. A soft coup. Leftist rioting afterward. That was the plan. And the plotters broke laws in furtherance of the plan.
– Troops quell all rioting without bias or favor
– The EC vote must have been corrected for clear violations

AG Paxton Sues Battleground States for Unconstitutional Changes to 2020 Election Laws
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today filed a lawsuit against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in the United States Supreme Court. The four states exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws and unlawfully enacting last-minute changes, thus skewing the results of the 2020 General Election. The battleground states flooded their people with unlawful ballot applications and ballots while ignoring statutory requirements as to how they were received, evaluated and counted.
“Trust in the integrity of our election processes is sacrosanct and binds our citizenry and the States in this Union together. Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin destroyed that trust and compromised the security and integrity of the 2020 election. The states violated statutes enacted by their duly elected legislatures, thereby violating the Constitution. By ignoring both state and federal law, these states have not only tainted the integrity of their own citizens’ vote, but of Texas and every other state that held lawful elections,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Their failure to abide by the rule of law casts a dark shadow of doubt over the outcome of the entire election. We now ask that the Supreme Court step in to correct this egregious error.”
Elections for federal office must comport with federal constitutional standards. For presidential elections, each state must appoint its electors to the electoral college in a manner that complies with the Constitution. The Electors Clause requirement that only state legislatures may set the rules governing the appointment of electors and elections and cannot be delegated to local officials. The majority of the rushed decisions, made by local officials, were not approved by the state legislatures, thereby circumventing the Constitution.
– Ken Paxton, Attorney General of Texas
you tried this earlier and were roundly ridiculed for your ridiculous, juvenile reasoning.
Repeating that nonsense is a really bad look.
Maybe you forgot you posted it already, ala FJB.
Sooo, you can read peoples minds? You can tell what they actually meant vs what they said?
That is an amazing superpower.
Here, I will play . . . Nancy Pelosi heard about Trump’s offer of 10,000 NG, but did everything she could to prevent the security of the Capitol building that day. Even not passing on intelligence from weeks before to people who should of known. Then conspired with top FBI officials to put paid informants or actors into the crowd to create trouble. The FBI got a little overzealous with the paid informants, they had to conduct an audit to figure out how many were there and how much money they paid out. By dumb blind luck, Nancy’s daughter was doing a documentary that very day. When that fateful day was over, then Nancy colluded with Liz Cheney and the rest of the Jan6th Committee, cherry picked video, testimony, edited videos, and even went so far as to try to hide testimony or other evidence that was contrary to the “insurrection” narrative.
There! See? I can read minds too!
IF IF IF IF you squint real hard, you can see the earth is flat or that obamma isn’t a central authoritarian thug that should be Mussolini’d.
FUNFACT: Obama, the son of a foreign citizen, not the son of an American citizen, as were all previous presidents, will never be a “natural born citizen” per the legal text and reference of the era, the Law of Nations, referred to constantly by the “members now sitting” at the Constitutional Convention, will never be eligible for the office of the president.
Stop squinting so hard. Despite the facts that obamma was in fact the son of an American citizen (and a foreign one) and that there have been other non-US citizen presidents (unsquint real hard), he is still a central authoritarian POS that should be, for the healing of the nation to begin, Mussolini’d.
Was George Washington’s father born as an American?
That seems unlikely, you know, given the nature of time.
“AT THE TIME OF THE ADOPTION OF THIS CONSTITUTION”
Art 2 Sec 1
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution,…
shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Law of Nation – the legal text, reference and “dictionary” of the era, 1758.
Natural born citizen is defined in the Law of Nations – presidential candidate must have parents (plural, i.e. as in two) and a father who is a citizen.
All presidents before Obama had two parents who were citizens.
Please tell us where Washington and Jay obtained the definition of “natural born citizen” when they wrote it in their correspondence.
Answer: The Law of Nations
I would suspect that several of the earliest Presidents would have been sons of foreign citizens, since their fathers wouldn’t have been born by the time of the American Revolution, and still subjects of other countries.

Muriel Elizabeth Bowser
“Then, after the fact as a cover-up, Trump suggests “those 10,000 troops could have quelled the rioting at the Capitol, but Pelosi and Browser nixxed the idea”.”
PbinCA, that is another LIE. Trump’s offer of troops is documented before Jan 6, in writing.
I should have added, why didn’t Nancy Pelosi permit the troops. That is the answer we need but she is not available for questioning .One can mind-read in a fashion better than PbinCA and say Nancy Pelosi wanted a riot and was indirectly involved in the violence.
And had her daughter there to capture the documentary of it all….
Here is a statement of fact:
GLENN KESSLER IS A DISHONEST MORON.
Will Glenn Kessler please check this statement.
A special thanks to Anonymous for stating: “The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceeding
small”. I have never heard of that phrase before. It fits this situation perfectly. I knew that Mr. Trump had requested the National Guard for that day. The democrat women, Bowser and Pelosi saw this as a chance to make Mr. Trump look bad and they were willing to do it no matter to cost to the American people. I wonder when we will finally learn of the corruption relating to the 2020 Presidential vote?
I believe that the correct phrase is that “The mills of justice grind slowly but exceedingly fine.” It is from an American poet of the 19th century who might be Longfellow.
Prof. Turley,
Time after time we find that those in power whose power they perceive as threatened by the expressed intentions of the american people,
are willing to lie and abuse that power to thwart opposition.
At some point you must cease trusting entirely those who are constantly lying, and those who are constantly reporting those lies as truth.
The J6 committee did not provide the contradictory evidence and than reject it as lacking credibility – they denied it existed.
That is LYING.
While I personally believe this evidence is both credible and correct, and I believe that the J6 committee destroyed and/or hid evidence they did not want made public – that is important and should be carefully and publicly be examined. But more importantly the J6 committee and Chenney have beyond any doubt LIED.
This evidence is not credible – Chenney’s claim NOW, is not the same as the conclusions of the J6 committee that no evidence existed.
Nor is it true that this is the only example of this type of lying by those with power. This is part of a long long long list of lies that we have been told – mostly by the same people, for the purpose of holding power.
Some here criticism me as some extreme Trump supporter.
I am NOT. I have never voted for Trump. I disagree with him on many policies.
I am not a “trump supporter”.
What I am is someone who does not see Trump as particularly unusual or dangerous – except possibly rhetorically as president.
I have said repeatedly that he is the best president in the 21st century – unfortunately that is NOT high praise.
I am increasingly impressed by his foreign policy – as are members of the “anti-war” left such as Glenn Greenwald.
More importantly – the lies and abuse of power by Trump’s enemies is very very very dangerous.
Hillary’s concoction of the Steele Dossier is just ordinary dirty politics – possibly at a larger scale than normal.
Clinton should and was punished at the ballot box because she is untrustworthy. While voters did not at the time know of the dirty tricks nature of the Steele Dossier – and the media Failed at that, Still voters had more than enough evidence of Clinton’s deceitful nature – and they voted accordingly.
The Huge problem is NOT the Clinton dirty Trick, but the participation of the FBI and DOJ in that political dirty trick.
They KNEW they were dealing with a political dirty trick, They knew it was fraudulent from the start – and still they used it to preserve their own power and to thwart the will of the electorate.
Over and over we have seen the same deceiptful conduct by those in power. By the Clinton’s and the Chenney’s, by the Biden’s and Obama’s
For the most part these are not “left wing nuts” – they are merely people in power – “the deep state” – chameleons willing to wear most any political clothes to retain political power.
Those on the left – including posters here should be ashamed of getting to bed with the likes of Chenney, or Biden or Pelosi, or Schiff or their minions These people are LIARS who will betray anything and anyone for power.
If it is expeditions they will betray those on the left in a nano second. They will betray anyone, any ideology, any principles to retain power.
They, their minions, their deceipt, their lawlessness are the greatest threat to this country – far far far worse than Trump, or MAGA or even the left.
Well gee, if the J6 kangaroo court lied about /omitted these important details,
it kind of makes you wonder what else they got wrong…
And whether it was intentional or not (spoiler: It was).
The demoncrat libturds lied again, for years on end, to persecute their political opponents and incarcerate them with lawfare.
Big surprise, who could have possibly known Trump told the truth from day one.
OT, bad news everyone, inflation went up to 3.2%.
Means things are going to cost more for everyone.
https://justthenews.com/nation/economy/inflation-rate-rises-32-economy-concerns-intensify-ahead-2024-election
Upstate, I remember an anonymous commenter on here bragging how Biden had lowered inflation. Yeah, he lowered it from 9% after the 9% inflation had already jacked prices way the hell up – while wage increases were much lower. Bottom line: buying power way down. Anyone who has shopped at retail stores, especially grocery stores, knows prices are at around double what they were under Trump.
Now . . . the 3.2% inflation is inflating the already-jacked-up prices. So a 3.2% yearly increase, in actual dollars, is the same as a 6.4% increase of prices before they doubled. What fun.
More bad news, gas prices went up for a second week in a row.
On the bright side, I am sure I will get, in January, a Social Security COLA, equal to about half the inflation rate. Or less. I will pass my decreased spending power onto others – Less Chinese food delivery, less Arbys, less fajita salads. I will probably nix another streaming service or two. Netflix bit the dust last month. I guess BritBox will soon be on the chopping block. I already ended the Great Courses channel too. What I may do, is rotate them. Get Netflix for one month, and binge watch like crazy. Then BritBox, and binge like crazy. etc.
The cable company last January sent us a notice they were raising the price of service by $20 per month. They also discontinued offering Deutsche Welle, the only German Language channel available and the only premium channel I subscribed. [of course only one channel in German compared with 1200 useless English Language channels hardly anyone watches] So I reduced my cable subscription to the lowest, most basic plan they offered and cut the cost of what I paid per month by $60+ dollars. Worked out well for them, at least for me.
People as both individuals and as a whole society can truly benefit from cutting back as you say, it would be deflationary if individuals simply all refused to pay ridiculous prices for discretionary items.
Eating at resturants now is something I try to avoid as much as possible. (the sole exception being when someone invites me to lunch or something similar and I don’t want to be rude and refuse.) There was a news article about a viral social media posting of someone visiting Five Guys restaurant and the bill for a cheeseburger, small fries, pop, and a 10% tip came to over twenty five dollars. It has gotten ridiculous the prices, between the highest minimum wage in the nation, higher food costs, and the restaurants wanting to acutally make it finacially worthwhile to remain in business it is no wonder the prices command the levels they are. But as you indicated, it is something to abstain from.
An hour or so ago I returned from the discount, family owned grocery store and bought six days worth of vegetables (mostly from the mark-down / day old rack) The bill cost $21.42, a far better and healthier deal than the Five Guy’s’ $25+ for only one meal for one person. Plus I paid no sales tax, which in my view is a moral duty to avoid tax paid to a state such as this one.
If people simply refused to pay high prices, there would be less demand pull to increase costs generally.
“The bill cost $21.42, a far better and healthier deal than the Five Guy’s’ $25+”
Darren, when one thinks about eating out one has to recognize that for most restaurants to survive their food costs need to be below 25%. That equates to around four times the cost of food when bought at a discount store. Restaurants are for social needs not for a meal. I go out to many restaurants but given the choice I prefer home.
On a similar note, I wrote some months ago complaining about how the quality of clothing has become intolerable: Bad workmanship and paper thin Chinese made junk. (So thin i joked that the Casimir Effect had to be addressed due to the microscopic gaps between the rollers in the looms making the fabric.)
I needed to buy some large mailing envelopes and on occasion they are available at the Goodwill / Thrift stores. I dropped by one and though they had no envelopes, I killed some time looking around. I actually found some 1990’s Khaki colored men’s pants for $6.00 a pair and they had three in my size. A contemporary version of the pants I have just two weeks ago wore a tear across the front right thigh, so it will be cut up for rags. The contemporay pair only lasted two years before it wore out: thin, absolute junk.
I know it might sound rather simple-minded to be actually happy to find something like three pair of old pants at a thrift store. But given the high price of garbage quality clothing the opposite becomes welcoming.
Oh, the price increases! My storage room bill went to $220, from $170. It was $94 a few years ago, but they got bought out. I have to clean it out as soon as my family can help me. My term life insurance bill is slated to go up too, since I just had a birthday. Internet tried to go up, but I got a new deal, which kept it the same. I don’t have cable at all. I want Audible, but it is too expensive, so I use Chirp books. My $30 ACP credit for Internet expires next month, as it will for everyone on the program. My drug insurance went from $35 to $53 two months ago. The $15, the $20 the $30 per month hits keep coming, and I have to adjust. Dog food and cat food are up, almost double what they were 3 years ago. Cat litter is $5 per day. I figure my red line in the sand, will be keep Prime and keep Youtube Premium. Keep the 99 cents per month BestTV channel on Prime. If worst coes to worst, I have a ton of books, records and CDs, and antenna TV is free. I will probably have to cancel Pandora later this year, but now maybe not. I buy generic groceries, and I eat a lot of ham and eggs. Stew meat is about $8.00/pkg, so I use cheap hamburger patties and make soup instead of stew. I can stretch one squash to two to three meals, with cheap yellow onions, and cheap bacon. Luckily, I have gotten a second work-from-home job, and I will pay off a few bills in the next several months.
Yeah, Biden, what an economy you have going! Although, in truth, it is not all his fault. He did make the energy situation worse, and the unnecessary spending on Ukraine, and illegal aliens – oy vey!
Floyd
What liberals and local politicians here deliberately refuse to recognize is that when their policies force up prices, (such as regulations, unreasonable increases in minimum wage for younger employees and mandates relating to insurance and housing industries) that older Americans and those who’s income is fixed for a uniform nationwide rate are usually among those hit the hardest. Prices at one locality go up and their incomes do not change sufficiently to accomodate this because Social Security, Railroad Retirement, and various federal pensions or benefits are static and COLAs are uniform and now underperforming against localized inflation costs.
One thing you might possibly experience as you said having plenty of books and other media available is that cutting the cable, so to speak, you might find as a few of my relatives realized that doing so they actually adjusted better than expected. They have more varied activities and generally were happier as a result of no longer being reliant on T.V. for providing for their interests.
$5 per day for cat litter? Terrible.
That $5 is just for the big pan. I ended up with a house full of cats, and one stray dog. That is why I work, because people are becoming unable to afford their pets, and over the last few years, I have seemed to end up with a lot of them. . The owners have just turned them out. I had a stray young tom cat come hop into my lap while I was sitting on the porch about two months ago. Very friendly, and he had a collar. I took him in, and I had to keep him in a rabbit hutch for a few weeks, until I could get him fixed. I could not find his owner, but I am sure he had one. Now, he lives inside and is a very sweet little cat, and one of the crew. Same with the little dog. Sweet little chihuahua mix, and she sits by me all day long, 24/7 and protects me from the Home Health people. She was loose for days in the neighborhood, and when I found out about her, I took her in. No ads anywhere for her. So, I do the best I can by them, and I have an insurance policy to help my family take care of them when I go.
And, yes, I have plenty to do when I have to eventually cut the streaming services. I am re-reading After Worlds Collide. I watched When Worlds Collide last Saturday, and I remembered the companion book from when I was young. Great book! And, I discovered there is a third book. Not bad for the 1930s.
As far as old people, unless they are getting the max, or near it, they/we are pretty much doomed to dire poverty in the future. We will make less than minimum wage. Luckily, I do not have a car, or car note or car insurance and upkeep. So I am better off than most.
Floyd
I’m glad to read of your taking in those pets given the issues. It was in the news here about the dog pounds filling up with animals their owners could no longer afford the expense of their care. Years ago, when I worked patrol, the system for dealing with pets and animals had an underside the public is not aware but would be distressed of what became of animal welfare given the realities forced by cost and bureaucracy, especially in small towns and rural areas. I thought about letting you and the others know about what I have seen over the years, but frankly describing in detail the reality I witnessed–the sheer stupidity and heartlessness of the system–unfortunately I would rather not go there.
So when I read that you adopted these abandoned animals it makes me glad that there are those who sincerely care and actually do what is needed.
Hate’s gonna hate. And boy do those Dems and elite RiNos hate Trump. The end justifies the means. If that’s not a threat to democracy as they always like to cry about Trump, I don’t know what is.
It’s a threat to communism.
The very communism America is subjugated by today.
You’ll have to go all the way back to 1860 to erase Karl Marx and the Communist Manifesto from once-free America.
