
Founded in 1660, the Royal Society is one of the most prominent scientific organizations in the world with associations to such luminaries as Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin. Despite that proud history, British scientists are pushing to politicize the society and expel Elon Musk because they disagree with his political views. It is not simply anti-intellectual but self-destructive for a society committed to the pursuit of scientific knowledge.
Few individuals in history have had a more pronounced impact on scientific and technological advances than Musk. His work on Space X alone has reshaped space technology. The upcoming mission to rescue the stranded scientists only highlights his transformative role and that of his company.
However, more than 2,700 scientists have signed an open letter that cited his public attacks on figures such as Anthony Fauci. They also noted that ‘The situation is rendered more serious because ‘Mr. Musk now occupies a position within a Trump administration in the USA that has over the past several weeks engaged in an assault on scientific research in the US that has fallen foul of federal courts.’”
It is unclear what cases are being referenced, since there have been several rulings against efforts to enjoin DOGE and Musk. More importantly, such litigation has only just begun. Whether the challengers or the Administration have “fallen foul” is yet to be determined.
Others made it clear that they simply disagree with Musk’s views.
Professor Dorothy Bishop, a University of Oxford psychologist, resigned earlier from the society, stating “I just feel far more comfortable to be dissociated from an institution that continues to honour this disreputable man.”
Others accused Musk of spreading “disinformation,” a much-abused category in the United Kingdom as a basis for censorship.
Many of these scientists seem selective in their outrage. I do not recall the Royal Society rushing to the defense of the many scientists who were fired or silenced over their dissenting views on COVID-19.
That includes the lab theory that led to scientists being denounced as conspiracy theorists or racists. Now, federal agencies agree that the theory is legitimate and indeed favored by some offices.
Some experts questioned the efficacy of surgical masks, the scientific support for the six-foot rule and the necessity of shutting down schools. The government has now admitted that many of these objections were valid and that it did not have hard science to support some of the policies. While other allies in the West did not shut down their schools, we never had any substantive debate due to the efforts of this alliance of academic, media and government figures.
Not only did millions die from the pandemic, but the United States is still struggling with the educational and mental health consequences of shutting down all our public schools. That is the true cost of censorship when the government works with the media to stifle scientific debate and public disclosures.
There is an alternative. The Royal Society could confine its review to the scientific contributions of figures like Musk. The subjectivity of this criticism should be antithetical to a scientific organization. Science is ideally a field that transcends political, social, and religious divisions. Few figures in history have advanced the cause of space travel and green technology as Musk.
I hope the Royal Society will decline to engage in such political exclusions, but I am hardly hopeful. However, in carrying out this expulsion, they will do far more harm to their society than to Elon Musk.

Saw my surgeon on Tuesday for my first post-operative visit followed by my first physical therapy session. what is the origin of very pleased with the surgical incision, and he said it’ll heal very nicely where it’ll barely be noticeable months from now. He is giving me permission to drive my car to go to PT sessions. I’m also allowed to do some exercises at home to strengthen my surgical sight. Otherwise I stopped taking the pain medications and I seem but it’ll be several months before I get back into the gym and regain full mobility. otherwise I’m pleased

Jonathan: Now I know there is chaos and confusion within Musk’s DOGE. The helter skelter firing of FAA employees and the discharge of critical personnel at the agency charged with the care and custody of nuclear weapons–only to realize that was a big mistake. Then in one lawsuit the DOJ lawyers tell the court Elon Musk is really not in charge of DOGE. Then the next day DJT says the direct opposite. But in this endeavor Musk has run into problems. The FDA has been investigating Neurolink for animal experiment abuse and other problems with the program. So on January 29 Musk’s DOGE people had the USDA Inspector General escorted from the building because she refused the firing order. And Musk just fired 22 employees of the FDA responsible for making sure the Neurolink implants are safe for humans. Musk wants his implants approved without messy government approvals.
The Q must be asked. Would you want one of your parents to have a Neurolink chip implanted in his/her brain if it had not under gone rigorous testing and had been approved by the FDA or any other government agency? I can’t think of a more frightening prospect. But that’s what Musk wants. He wants to eliminate any government oversight of his businesses. That’s his plan and he is carrying it out with precision!
I know Denny him/her/theyself won’t give an answer to this, so I ask the community: does anyone have any proof of the FAA and FDA claims this maroon is spouting, or is he subjecting himself to another rectal craniopathy?

A little historical context might be helpful here.
The Fabian Society society was founded in England in the late 19th century. It was (and still is) a socialist organization dedicated to the spread of socialism in every cultural institution — the arts, government, education. It adopted the “insider strategy.” Start with one or two socialists inside an institution, then over time, completely consume that institution with socialism.
That “insider strategy,” which has been very effective, was also applied to science. What you’re seeing in the Royal Society debacle is the rotten fruit of that strategy.

They simply ask the Society to review its code of conduct that mandates the “use of science for the benefit of society”. For example, the signatories of the letter want an explanation from the Royal Society as to why they would honor a man who has called for the criminal prosecution of Dr. Fauci, a leading scientist who led the fight against Covid-19 in the US. The signatories also point out that Musk also promotes unscientific conspiracy theories, now engages in cutting back government funding for scientific research, fires leading scientists and imposes censorship on scientific research agencies. That violates the Society’s commitment to freedom of expression.
The signatories of the letter also point out that Musk is not a scientist. He is an investor and businessman. They ask what actual scientific research has Musk engaged in? None. The signatories suggest Musk could be better honored by the Royal Engineering Society if it chooses. But they question Musk’s inclusion in the Royal Society. Some members of the Society think Musk should be expelled for his two Nazi salutes alone!
So on March 3 the Royal Society will consider the letter from 2700 leading scientists from around the world. What will the Society do? If it’s true to its mission it will expel Musk!

One example, was the House vote on men in women’s sports. Nobody believes that is fair, or sensible, yet only 1% of House Democrats voted for the bill. Ummm Ummm, but they are sure good at following orders!
Think about how psychotic an entire political party must be that is for men beating the crap out of women in women’s sports (and invading women’s private spaces like locker rooms and showers), while being against efforts to root out hundreds of billions in fraud and waste of taxpayer dollars.
There are 9 trans athletes in NCAA sports out of 50,000+. It’s a nothing burger issue.
So there’s only 9 trans athletes that will be banned. It’s no big deal.
And it radically changes the world of the small minded.
We’ve all seen how at many levels women and girls have had their opportunities stolen from them, have suffered injuries and hospitalization from being physically beaten by biological males, have had to share intimate places with biological males, and have even been raped in women’s prisons and sexually assaulted in high school girls bathrooms. All in worship of your woke god. You prove my point by calling all of that a nothing burger. You illustrate the psychopathic tendencies of your entire party.

I don’t know if they are psychotic, or if they are just masters at following commands. Maybe the House Democrats from Blue States know that they don’t have to do anything but be a Democrat to get re-elected. There are life-long Democrats who will pull the D lever, no matter what, as long as they are not personally affected. I think that is part of why Trump won this time, because the Biden Inflation was killing them. The two dissenting Democrats were both from Texas, so they had to be more careful.
But the others? Nah, just follow the Party commands, and nothing will happen to you. The people of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, will vote Democrat no matter what. And if you are the Rep, who is from a Blue Big City – same deal.
