Below is my column in the New York Post on the increasing political violence on the left, particularly targeting Elon Musk, his companies, and his clients. There have been more arrests of people engaging in property destruction. What is most striking, however, is how Democrats have torched their core beliefs to pursue a scorched Earth campaign against Musk.

In this “Age of Rage, it is common for people to become the very thing that they despise in others, jettisoning their most cherished values to strike out at those they hate.
Since the election, Democrats have shown that very self-destructive quality of rage in adopting anti-immigrant, anti-free speech, anti-labor, and even anti-environmental positions to get at Donald Trump or his supporters.
It consumes every part of a person. It is addictive, and it is contagious. What these rage addicts will not admit, however, is that they like it; they need it.
This time, they are targeting Elon Musk, whose dealerships, charging stations, and customers have been hit by political violence from the left.
While other billionaires from George Soros to Mark Zuckerberg have spent big on elections for the left, Musk is somehow uniquely evil because he gives money to Republicans and supports the Trump Administration.
This scorched Earth campaign was evident this week in New York, where democratic legislators are again moving to weaponize state laws for political purposes — just like they did with Trump.
New York state Sen. Pat Fahy (D-Albany) is pledging to bar Musk from direct sales in the state.
Notably, Fahy has been a longtime advocate of electric vehicles. The move will make it more difficult not just for Musk but other EV dealers to survive, but climate change policies be damned. Fahy and her colleagues want to get at Musk in any way they can.
Fahy explained, “No matter what we do, we’ve got to take this from Elon Musk. He’s part of an effort to go backwards.”
The move is not unique:
* The left decries political violence like January 6th but is largely silent as Teslas are set on fire and Cybertrucks are covered with graffiti. It promote boycotts and rallies with a wink at the vandals. As the violence increases around the country, the left has held protests featuring signs like “Burn a Tesla, Save Democracy.”
* Democrats have made the defense of immigration a core issue and have objected even to the use of the term “illegal” or “unlawful” to refer to those crossing the Southern border. Yet, they have attacked Musk due to his status as a naturalized citizen. He is denounced as a “foreigner” “meddling” in our government. Some questioned Musk’s loyalty because he is a naturalized American.
* Those who insist that they believe in free speech are supporting censorship and opposing Musk for restoring free speech protections on X.
* In California, labor advocates oppose expanded operations from SpaceX that would benefit workers in the state. California Coastal Commissioner Gretchen Newsom tried to block increased SpaceX launches despite their benefit for both the California economy and national security. Because he “aggressively injected himself into the presidential race,” it does not mater that this would cost money and labor opportunities. Retaliation for “hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods” was more important.
Still, the greatest hypocrisy may be found in the Democrats’ willingness to abandon environmental priorities for political revenge. It is a contest of virtue-signaling. Fighting for Mother Earth is fine on most days, but nothing compares to destroying Elon Musk.
Lawmakers and advocates are also pressuring pension funds to divest from Tesla while trying to force Tesla showrooms to close — at the cost of New York jobs.
Tesla is an American company making and selling cars in this country. It sells more electric vehicles in the US and New York than any other manufacturer. Yet it must now be destroyed because, unlike a Soros or a Zuckerberg, Musk’s political views are not acceptable to the left.
Tesla was allowed to operate five locations to directly sell to consumers under a 2014 deal because it was viewed as good for New York jobs, the New York economy, and, most importantly, the environment.
None of that matters now.
Fahy explained, “The bottom line is, Tesla has lost their right to promote these when they’re part of an administration that wants to go backwards. Elon Musk was handed a privilege here.”
It also does not matter that companies like Rivian and Lucid (and their employees) will be caught in the crossfire. Nothing matters but revenge.
Many Democrats seem to have lost a capacity for shame. They are disgusted only by the refusal of others to yield to their demands, not the use of any means to achieve political ends. The question is, what do Democrats like Fahy now stand for when everything they are is now defined by those they hate?

It’s time to address the elephant in the room. At this point, the public expects Democrats to riot or commit violence if they disagree with a policy, person, or just leap to a false conclusion.
When Bud Lite used a biological male who bragged about 100 days of girlhood, relying heavily on gender stereotypes, like spending more than he could afford or crying for no reason, as proof that he was female, those who objected didn’t buy Bud Lite. That’s it.
Democrats leapt to the conclusion that Derek Chauvin was a raging Klansman who deliberately murdered George Floyd by strangling him. There was no evidence of racism, and it wasn’t even mentioned in court. Chauvin knelt on his upper back, not his actual neck. There weren’t any bruises or injuries to his neck, and a forensic pathologist admitted that Floyd had multiples of a fatal fentanyl overdose in his system, as well as heart disease. Floyd started experiencing respiratory distress in the police car, and he’s the one who asked to get out and onto the ground. He was panicking and struggling, and had a history of crime and violence. While I believe Chauvin should have tried different positions to see if it helped his breathing, Floyd was doomed to die. Being handcuffed at all during respiratory distress would escalate anyone’s panic, but I doubt a police officer would have uncuffed any man over 6 feet tall, with a rap sheet, who was violent. That hold was part of that police department’s policy. Democrats openly threatened to burn down cities nationwide unless the jury knew what was good for them, and delivered a guilty verdict. Chauvin was sacrificed to a mob. That mob still seized entire city blocks in an autonomous zone, CHOP/CHAZ.
Elon Musk was tapped for his programming and efficiency expertise, to bypass executives and audit government spending. Whereas the head of USAID would have submitted a report about X amount of dollars being spent on Y programs to combat hunger, Musk’s team went right to the ledger and discovered we were actually spending money on drag queen theater performances, and trans comics in Peru. He discovered the Small Business Administration had been giving out hundreds of millions in loans to applicants who were 11 or younger, or older than 100. That’s fraud. He found we were funding experiments on kittens to study motion sickness. There’s the infamous experiment getting quail high on cocaine. We pay enormous sums for empty office buildings, when 85% of the workforce were still remote 5 years after the start of Covid. He discovered that many remote government employees were billing for hours during which they simultaneously worked a second job.
Democrat activists long ago took control of all 3 letter agencies, and many other government organizations. They essentially had access to a multi-trillion-dollar slush fund to promote Democrat pet projects, like transgenderism, globally, but most of all, to hold onto power. NPR became Democrat radio. PBS became Democrat tv for young viewers. All funded by the US taxpayer. Democrats have had full control of public education, from kindergarten to grad school, turning it into a madrassa for Democrat policy ideas.
When this slush fund was threatened by revealing everything it funded to the American public, Democrat politicians activated their Brown Shirts in the public to riot.
Democrats now commit domestic terrorism and vandalize the very electric cars they had been trying to make mandatory. They assault people who own electric cars, dealerships who sell electric cars, and are trying to drive the manufacturer of electric cars out of business. Yet, they also want to make buying electric cars mandatory.
At this point, the public expects violence from Democrats every time they get upset. The bar is in Hell.

Trump allowed Musk to purchase the right to bully and fire federal employees because Musk gave him almost $300 million–no other reason. Musk thinks money can buy anything–it bought Trump and the power to push around better people than Musk is–like scientists and devoted public servants, but it couldn’t buy a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Nothing Musk or his tech bros claim about waste, fraud or abuse is factually true–none of it. They’ve been caught lying about all kinds of “successes” that aren’t true. Cutting off funds for USAID has resulted in harm to those our Congressional representatives appropriated the money to help–which includes US farmers who grow peanuts used in the peanut paste that is given to starving people. The American people did not vote for the world’s richest man to be given the power to destroy our government agencies and fire people arbitrarily.

I’ve thought the same, and the conclusion I’ve come to is that the constituency believed in positive change at one time, though no longer. They are all simple sycophants, now, whether they have that awareness or not; meanwhile, their leadership have nearly always been privileged charlatans. The voters in Wisconsin voted 63% to 37% in favor of requiring a voter ID to vote in elections. The voting in of a leftist judge will last for a short while, but voting integrity protected by the voter ID law will insure election integrity for generations to come. No doubt that some loses will still occur but winning on the big issues is what really matters in the end. I smell the scent of bitter rejoicing by the leftist posting on these pages.

The leftist will soon be rushing to put their Teslas on the market but alas buyers of their political statement will be few and far between. That is the fun part about this whole thing. The Democrat party alienating even more of their own base. They might not become Republicans but they might think twice about voting for Democrats. Just like they are and have alienated a lot of young women with their biological males in women’s sports.
Upstate, I was thinking the same thing. However, suppose that you’re a Tesla owner. You’ve done all the right things. You voted for climate change candidates. You spent more money than you really wanted to buy a Tesla in order to save the planet. Now as a reward for all your loyalty you get to worry about a danger to your property and your wife and children when riding in your heartfelt political statement. Will there be a percentage of these people who bitterly swing to the other party. Common sense tells us that this will happen. All that you can say is, how stupid can they get?
