OT . The case of Trump v. Illinois is interesting. Gorsuch says in his dissent that the statute has never been explored as to meaning before. I couldn’t retrieve the submitted briefs to read.
Trump positioned the NG not as law enforcement but as protection to the civilian law enforcement and federal structures. Seems right to me. As said, the briefs aren’t available easily. The text of the temporary opinion is available readily.

Does Gorsuch very narrowly say Trump cannot enforce Illinois law by federalizing the NG? Can the governor use Illinois NG to enforce Illinois law? Trump is enforcing criminal law under immigration and Illinois cannot have a contrary law.
