As Democrats plan for the possible takeover in the midterms and 2028 election, they are already openly discussing their push for radical changes in our political system, including packing the Supreme Court to guarantee that those changes are allowed. Many are also pledging trials, impeachments, and investigations of anyone who supported President Donald Trump in a purging of politics and government. The latest to join the revenge purge pledge is Susan Rice, Democratic powerbroker and top policy adviser to both President Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

International companies can get visas for their employees to work for their US subsidiaries, but the employee can only work for their sponsoring company. His wife Karen, aged 65, had remained in the UK.
Bill had been trying to get a green card with the help of his company, but the Trump administration had made it much more difficult to do so. Bill got frustrated and decided to retire and bring his wife to the US to spend a few months of vacation touring the West and Canada before returning home. Karen entered on a valid tourist visa good for six months.
They toured through the West then tried to cross into Canada. There was some problem with the paperwork for their car, so Canada sent them back to the US side to resolve it. ICE then noticed that Bill’s work visa had recently expired, but this was after he had stopped working months previously. ICE arrested them both and held them in custody for 6 weeks.
Eventually, ICE told them that if they volunteered to “self-deport” then the government would pay for their fare back home, but they would be banned from the US for 10 years. They accepted the offer.
Karen had been detained for 6 weeks, despite the fact that her visa was valid and she was in full compliance with its conditions. During incarceration Karen asked why she had been detained despite having a valid visa. She was told that since she helped her husband pack for the trip, she was therefore an “accomplice” in his violation of his visa conditions. They also told her that ICE agents get a bonus dependent on the number of people they detain and deport. Obviously she was easy pickings to pad the bonus numbers.
So to summarize.
An elderly British couple were TRYING TO LEAVE THE UNITED STATES.
Bill’s visa had expired, but instead of simply allowing him to peacefully leave, which was his intention all long, they arrested him and his wife, held them for 6 weeks and then deported them at the expense of the US government. The ICE agents got their bonus, and the government paid for their trip home.

Work visa’s are tied to the sponsoring company BUT you CAN change jobs and keep your work visa if the new company agrees to sponsor you.

Tourist Visa’s for UK citizens are nearly trivial to get – you note that Karen had a tourist visa.
NEXT CBP does NOT check people leaving the US – if Bill and Karen crossed into Canada they did NOT have to go US Customs and immigration to do so. But they WOULD have to go through CBP (NOT ICE) to return. If they did not have a valid Visa they would not be allowed to enter.
The ONLY way they would get detained at the border is if they tried to Cross into Canada and Canada refused to allow them in.
That is the only situation in which they would be required to go through US CBP and could not simply go back to canada.
UK citizens can enter Canada by Land for short stays – But only if they have valid travel documents – like a Passport.

This ruling was expected, it makes it more difficult for Trump to impose tariffs and negotiate trade deals – but it does not prevent Trump from doing so.
The majority was correct – and MOST people understand that.
The decision is a minor speed bump for Trump – but a major block for democrat presidents in the future.
It strengthens the Major Questions Doctrine – which put simply is that congress must CLEARLY delegate powers to the executive on major issues.
The EPA just recently reversed Obama’s CO2 endangerment finding. A future democrat president that tries to restore it will run into a giant road block. There is no authorization from congress to regulate CO2.
Exactly the same SCOTUS constitutional interpretation principle that blocks Trump’s use of IEEPA would also block attempting to regulate CO2 in the future – no explicit delegation by congress.
