“Mr. Biden Lives Abroad”: Hunter Leaves Country as Former Lawyers Seek Millions

“Mr. Biden lives abroad.” Those four words in a filing from Barry Coburn confirmed what had long been rumored about his client: Hunter Biden has left the country as his former lawyers and creditors seek millions in unpaid debts. He added, “He cannot pay his current lawyers.”

As I wrote about years ago, Biden’s art grift would dry up as soon as he could no longer deliver influence and access to power. Reportedly unable to move art, Hunter has moved out of the reach of many creditors. He is rumored to be in South Africa, where his wife, Melissa Cohen, was born and raised.

Hunter is the Blanche DuBois of American politics. He has always relied on the kindness (and greed) of strangers when he could allegedly offer influence or access to his father, Joe Biden.

Hunter told a South African podcast in November that “We’re trying to be between Cape Town and the States, go back and forth.” He added, “I’ve fallen madly in love with Cape Town. You guys do not know how good you have it here. It’s the most beautiful city in the world.”

It just also happens to be roughly 9000 miles away from creditors in Delaware.

According to his former counsel at Winston & Strawn LLP, Hunter has not paid a “substantial portion” of the fees owed to his legal team. Hunter told the podcast that he is facing “$17 million in debt … as it relates to my legal fees.”

His criminal defense did not ultimately protect him. He was found guilty of a variety of crimes, and his father then broke his repeated promise to the public and pardoned his own son in December 2024.

I have been a long-time critic of the Bidens, going back to when Joe Biden was still a senator. The family was long accused of influence peddling and corruption. Hunter Biden was hardly subtle in marketing his access and influence. He is now without a law license and any known means of support despite an enabling media that pushed his past books and art.

For those of us who have written about the Bidens for decades, the relocation to South Africa is about as surprising as having his father pop into dinners at Cafe Milano with foreign clients. Hunter Biden is the Enfant terrible created by his father and released upon the world.

I recently wrote that the Swalwell scandal reveals an ironic analogy to Hunter’s signature lifestyle. Swalwell supported Hunter and was by his side as he defied a congressional subpoena. Like Hunter, he has controversial dealings, including using tens of thousands of campaign contributions for child care. He even had the campaign support of Hunter’s “sugar brother” Kevin Morris, who appears to have a proclivity for narcissistic, self-destructive personalities.

Swalwell could also face the same financial crunch as Hunter, as his campaign and congressional money run out. If so, there is always South Africa.

  1. Recall the false pope. Now we see it’s just a political system after power and what he’s saying is beyond comprehension. Pitiful…

Whatever happens to Hunter is what it is. Nancy P. Has her villa in Italy ready. Dems are taking the money and moving to other nations. Enjoy South Africa 😂

  2. Hunter Biden, like every Presidential pardon recipient, must be required to testify before Congress as to all information regarding the crimes for which he was pardoned. He cannot be prosecuted for those crimes, but the public has the right to know and the conspirators charged and convicted.

  3. Hunter’s Biden’s creditors shouldn’t be at all surprised he skipped on what he owes them. He’s that kind of guy.
Maybe when Joe dies, they’ll get a small part of what they’re owed.
But I wouldn’t count on it. Jill has it all locked up.
Even if Hunter gets some, he’s not going to just hand it over. Running from responsibility is a way of life for him.

    1. so where is all the millions of dollars that he made while his father was president? He was pretty wealthy at that time.

  4. Is/Was: President Biden Guilty by association with his son Hunter? There’s no legal basis for convicting President Biden because of association, but Accessory, Joint enterprise, Conspiracy, or Imputed negligence could apply. Would pursuing a feeble old man until his death change anything that we don’t already know? Regarding Hunter, his creditors may eventually have to hire a skip-tracer, though never elected he still could be defined as a ‘Fleabagger’.

  5. Is Trump the Antichrist???
A lot of people are beginning to think so.

The accusations reached a fever pitch on Sunday night, after Trump posted an AI-generated image depicting himself dressed in a white robe and red sash and placing a hand radiating golden light on a man in a hospital bed. The image seemed to invoke Jesus Christ, and it outraged some supporters who likened Trump’s behavior to the antichrist.
Major figures in the MAGA universe quickly spoke out. “It’s more than blasphemy. It’s an Antichrist spirit,” former congressperson Marjorie Taylor Greene posted to X on Sunday.

“In 18 months I went from hesitantly voting for Trump to thinking there’s a decent chance he’s the antichrist,” added Clint Russell, host of the right-wing Liberty Lockdown podcast.

“I genuinely believe Trump is currently demon possessed,” far-right Texas pastor Joel Webbon wrote on X. Hours later, Webbon hosted a livestream chat titled “Is Donald Trump the Anti-Christ?”

The Knights Templar Order, a Christian organization based on a medieval military order, wrote of the post that they had “no other choice but to condemn it wholeheartedly and ask for a public apology.”

Last week Tucker Carlson also opined that Trump may be the antichrist.
“He’s making fun of Christianity,” the right-wing host said on his Thursday show. “The central figure of the religion is being held up for mockery.”
“One day, he says, yeah, I did it. Next day he says, no, I didn’t do it. Both are on video,” Carlson pointed out. “That’s not really a lie, it’s more than a lie, it’s bigger than a lie. It’s an attack not just on a specific set of facts, it’s an attack on the idea that there are facts. It’s an attack on truth, openly. No one’s hiding this.”
He read a number of verses from the bible and suggested that Trump’s behavior is consistent with the predicted antichrist.
“He will exalt and magnify himself above every God,” he read, “and will say unheard-of things against the God of Gods.”
“Here’s a leader who’s mocking the gods of his ancestors,” Carlson added. “Could this be the Antichrist? At least that’s my conclusion.”

And now Trump is openly attacking the Pope, who is considered the “Vicar of Christ” and the earthly representative of Jesus Christ.

    1. Pope Leo could be the Antichrist also. He’s also a Chicago Cubs fan.

As for the Knights Templar, a powerful medieval military order founded in the 12th century, had its roots and largest, wealthiest network of commanderies in France. They combined monastic vows with military prowess, protecting pilgrims and inventing modern banking, but were abruptly destroyed in 1307 by King Philip IV of France, culminating in the burning of their last Grand Master, Jacques de Molay, in Paris in 1314

    2. Everyone gets religion all of a sudden. The pope is wrong with what he said. The president should have passed on replying to the pope, but since he did, he’s right. The president said it was a doctor not Jesus.

      1. Really ????
        The Pope is wrong ?????

I thought it was unquestionably axiomatic that the Pope is INFALLIBLE in all things.

How could the Pope possibly be wrong ????

  6. “Hunter Biden has left the country as his former lawyers and creditors seek millions in unpaid debts.”

So you have a long history of shirking personal responsibility and of playing the victim. Now you have massive personal debts that you are unable (or unwilling) to pay. Previously, you had a protection racket — your daddy. Now your daddy’s toothless. What to do?

You move to a country where collecting that debt is complicated and massively expensive for your debtors. Preferably a country whose president is a staunch, vocal critic of your arch-enemy — Trump. Then you suck up to that president by praising his condemnations of Trump.

That country is South Africa. HB’s new protector is South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

    1. Maybe Mr. Potato Head co-signed or made him a partner under the “brand”? Afterall, Bidens scored millions off the selling of America to the Chinese.

  7. Somehow, lawyers with 17 million in debt does not generate many sympathy cards. They defended him to burnish their reputations, increase their name recognition, and rub elbows with big time lawyers in DC. Did you expect Hunter’s Daddy to pay it with the White House slush funds?

  8. There is also always the United States’ extradition treaty with South Africa, should Hunter’s nonpayment reach any criminal proceedings: https://www.state.gov/13060

Regarding the unfortunate Ms. DuBois, for all of her many faults, in the end she was to be pitied. Not so Mr. Biden (either of them).

    1. @RussAmGirl – Perhaps a little more evidence investigation? Robert Hunter Biden received a Full and Unconditional Pardon from the President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, Jr. 12/1/2024.

Though legal interpretation might be requested, since these “fees” could be interpreted as penalties for same, the probability of extradition by the Republic of South Africa whose love of the law is best illustrated by their current lack of prosecution or even investigation of government-sponsored race-based discrimination that includes the murder of owners and families as sanctioned genocide by same, is highly improbable.

  9. Hunter Biden is a dead beat. Hunter won’t pay alimony for his child born out wedlock.
Now Hunter stiffed his legal team. Tommy says, put it on my tab.

  10. Dear Mr. Turley, the entire Hunter Biden story is the result of drug use. I am not sure why normally reasonable human beings (Here on this page) would become so worked up over a drug addict? Hunter Biden pulls at the heartstrings because he is a pitiable person of his own making. He played fast and loose with not only drugs but with his father’s name as well. I hope he can find a measure of peace while in South Africa, but I fear he brought his demons with.

  11. I do think that we should have placed him on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic and made him the 21st century Man Without a Country.

  12. The optics are Hunter Biden and his leprous C.V.seeking to do an Ambrose Bierce “The Difficulty of Crossing a Field.” I don’t know if this goes down as a footnote to a much broader kept history of Biden politics, or the exponent that defines it. I note that the timing of the exit idea occurs as we celebrate our nation’s 250th year.

  13. I might have found some respect for the leftist posters on this forum if they would have said,
Trump and Hunter are both convicted so both should be made to pay the price. But instead we get a defense of Hunter and Trump should be in jail. Maybe if these leftist commentators would just one time say what exactly did Hunter do to get millions of dollars from the Chinese and the Ukrainians I could take their rantings against Trump seriously. Alas, it’s like waiting for ice cubes not to melt in hell.
    Derangement is like that.

    1. The problem with the view that Hunter made millions from the Chinese or Ukrainians is that none of it was a crime. The Trump brothers are doing the same thing. Using their father’s name and status as a means to enrich themselves. It’s not illegal either. But Turley’s double standard makes him a hypocrite when he attacks Hunter.

This is just a distraction from Trump’s failing policies and the devolving war with Iran.

      1. Hunter Biden has never registered as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) for his work with entities in Ukraine, China, or Romania. Serious Violations of the act can result in up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Biden was never charged for failing to register by the Biden Justice dept, and you may recall that on December 1, 2024, President Joe Biden issued a full pardon for his son covering all federal offenses committed between 2014 and 2024, effectively ending any potential for future FARA prosecutions related to that period.

        1. Your reliance on a Jonathan Turley op-ed doesn’t change the fact that ‘lobbying’ for a private foreign company like Burisma isn’t a FARA violation unless you’re acting as an agent of a foreign principal to influence the U.S. government—a distinction even Weiss’s team apparently found insufficient for a criminal indictment.

As for the December 2024 pardon, it certainly ended the ‘potential’ for new charges, but it didn’t retroactively make a non-existent FARA case ‘guilty.’ If the DOJ’s best efforts under a Republican-appointed prosecutor couldn’t produce a FARA charge in six years, maybe the ‘violation’ was more of a partisan talking point than a legal reality. You can keep citing op-eds, but the court record tells a different story.

          1. Don’t talk about “Your reliance on a Jonathan Turley op-ed,” X.
every day you come here criticizing Turley and copy-pasting what you lifted from AI and Google.
God, what a clown you are.

          2. @X

Your reliance on ChatGPT or Grok or whatever is even more sad than your reliance on the MSM in the past. Nobody cares, George. Whatever yen you are fulfilling by haunting this blog, for literal years now – for Pete’s sake, man, get some help.

  14. It is rumored that Kevin Morris Hollywood Atty. (a.k.a.: Sugar Bro) is also in South Africa drumming up support for Hunter’s Book and Movie: ‘Where in the World is Hunter Biden?’

    Re.:
Kevin Morris is a prominent Hollywood entertainment lawyer and confidant who became a major financial benefactor and part of the legal team for Hunter Biden starting in 2019. He has loaned or provided over $6.5 million to cover Hunter Biden’s tax debts, legal bills, and personal living expenses, including rent.
    Key Details About Kevin Morris:

Background: Morris is a high-powered Hollywood attorney known for representing clients like the creators of South Park (Matt Stone and Trey Parker).
Role: Beyond financial support, Morris has assisted with legal strategy, media relations, and a documentary regarding the laptop, acting as a close advisor.
Relationship: Morris met Hunter Biden at a Joe Biden campaign event in 2019 and describes himself as a friend, often speaking with him daily.
Financial Support: Morris paid off at least $2 million in tax liabilities for Hunter and provided funds for housing and a Porsche, leading to scrutiny from House Republicans.
House Investigation: Morris testified in 2024 that his loans to Hunter were voluntary and not intended to buy influence, defending his actions as helping a friend.

Note: There is also a separate attorney named Kevin Evans who sued the DOJ regarding Hunter Biden-related documents.

South African extradition is primarily governed by the Extradition Act 67 of 1962, requiring a formal agreement or designated status with a foreign state to surrender persons for offenses punishable by at least six months imprisonment. The process involves judicial inquiries by a magistrate to ensure compliance with human rights and a final decision by the Minister of Justice, balancing treaty obligations with domestic constitutional rights.
Key Aspects of South African Extradition

Legal Framework: The Extradition Act 67 of 1962 (as amended) is the primary statute governing extradition, which requires either a bilateral agreement, a multilateral convention, or, in the absence of one, a specific Presidential consent for a specific case.
Extraditable Offences: Offences must be punishable under the laws of both countries by imprisonment or other deprivation of liberty for at least six months, or in some cases, one year.
    Process:
Request: A formal request is transmitted through diplomatic channels to the South African Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.
Arrest: A magistrate issues a warrant for arrest and detention.
Inquiry: A magistrate conducts a formal inquiry to decide if there is sufficient evidence (prima facie case) and if the person should be surrendered.
Ministerial Decision: The Minister of Justice makes the final decision on whether to surrender the individual.
Extradition Partners: South Africa has formal extradition treaties with several nations, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Nigeria, and the UAE. The Extradition Treaty between the United States and South Africa was signed in 1999.
Constitutional Protections: South African courts ensure that extradition does not violate Constitutional rights, such as the right to a fair trial, dignity, and life (no extradition for the death penalty).

  15. If he needs money to pay his solicitors he should blow more paint on canvas. Hunter, Swalwell broken useful idiots dumped in the democrats dust bin.

    1. @Upstate

No. No one is surprised. And this is *with* a Presidential pardon. Perhaps our laws still hold sway, in spite of the hyperbole from the left, eh?
