There was a curious moment this week when Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed expressed shock that people were asking him about a “streamer in California” as he campaigns for the Senate in Michigan. That streamer is, of course, Hasan Piker. Despite El-Sayed’s disbelief, the questions stemmed from the fact that he brought Piker from California to campaign with him in Michigan and embraced him despite condemnations of Piker’s virulent antisemitism and violent rhetoric. However, the problem goes far deeper, as El-Sayed distances himself from views he has previously voiced.
It turns out that there are consequences to campaigning with a man who mocked the murder of a past critic and said that the United States deserved 9/11 (including responding to criticism of Piker in the primary by embracing him on election night at a rally). El-Sayed is not the only Democrat trying to get the media to stop asking him about his association.
Standing in front of a giant campaign billboard for El-Sayed, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D., Mich.) shot back at those asking about his association with a raving lunatic: “I am DONE. So don’t any reporter ask me again about Hasan Piker.” What is distressing is how many reporters will dutifully obey the command.
Dingell added, “They’re trying to divide us, and we’ve got to stop letting them try to divide us.” However, it is not divisive for your Senate candidate to campaign with a raging antisemite who says that the United States deserved 9-11 and that Jews are asking to be attacked.
The problem for Dingell and others is not so easily resolved by commanding a supportive media to not ask about Piker, who recently said on his podcast that Jews are asking to be attacked if they openly support Israel.
The problem is that El-Sayed has voiced equally disturbing and analogous views. El-Sayed was criticized for his response after a man attacked a Michigan synagogue in March. After condemning the attack, El-Sayed added that the Israeli military killed some of the attacker’s family in Lebanon, saying “hurt people hurt people.”
It sounds a bit like Jews are asking to be attacked.
El-Sayed has also drawn criticism for declining repeatedly to answer whether Israel has a right to exist during a CNN interview in June.
Much like Piker, El-Sayed has also engaged in violent rhetoric, promising to “choke out” Republicans and referring to moderates like Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D) as ogres to have their heads cut off and put on pikes.
Refusing to answer questions about the association with Piker does not answer El-Sayed’s own views that align him with Piker.
Ironically, all the attention to Piker has drawn attention away from El-Sayed’s own views.
El-Sayed has extreme views that go beyond his position toward Israel and include wealth taxes, reparations, and radical changes to our constitutional system.
I grew up in a liberal, politically active Democratic family in Chicago. I no longer recognize that party today, including its anti-free-speech elements. Saying that you are a “Big Tent party” does not answer the question of whether the party stands for anything other than regaining power. There has to be some defining element to a party beyond power. El-Sayed is that defining moment.
No country has a “right” to exist. Also, quit smearing people as “anti-semites.” It’s not working. The genocidal freaks in Israel should be ostracized and condemned and the U.S. public is starting to wake up despite the ridiculous drumbeat from pro-zionist propagandists like you 🙂

Trade War With Canada Could Get El Sayed Elected
Every day $1bn worth of goods crosses the river dividing Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, two largely blue-collar US and Canadian cities that have come to act as one in the creation of North America’s auto industry.
News this week of Donald Trump’s escalating trade spat with Canada has everyone worried. Political and economic leaders and observers labeled the move an act of “hubris” , blamed Trump’s “ego”, and called the escalation “insanity”.
Control of the US Congress hangs in the balance and will almost certainly be decided by several close Michigan races. It also comes just two months after polling highlighted Michiganders’ fatigue with and opposition to the president’s unprecedented tariff program.
By a 63%-31% margin, residents here oppose tariffs on Canadian goods, according to a June Epic-MRA poll, including 35% of Republicans. Meanwhile, nearly 75% of Michiganders said the tariffs are fueling high prices.

More MAGA diversion, trying to portray Democrats in a bad light while ignoring issues of international importance that affect all of us because of the reaction of the rest of the world to Trump and the pathetic displays of arrogance that he keeps getting away with. Yesterday, King Donald of the Dynasty of Trump signed an Executive Decree purporting to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” because Canada imposed reciprocal tariffs after he couldn’t bully them. “Lake Ontario” has borne that name since long before Canada was a country or the Declaration of Independence was signed. King Donald is also threatening to re-name either the Atlantic or the Pacific Ocean, or both, the “American Ocean”, just like he thinks he can re-name the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. I’m wondering how much money we taxpayers are going to have to spend to reverse all of this nonsense. Of course, Trump’s stupid re-naming isn’t binding on any other country, but our government will be required to reprint maps and other documents. Like most Americans, I refuse to go along with the whims of King Donald.
This isn’t some little laugh it off silliness. It’s more of Trump’s bullying when he doesn’t get his way and more evidence of his emotional and mental instability. As one pundit I heard this morning said: “who doesn’t like Canadians”? They are our largest trading partners and closest neighbors. We had enjoyed an interdependent trading relationship, but King Donald keeps claiming that they’re “ripping us off” (can Trump ever get out of the seventies?). It hasn’t even been 2 years yet, and just look at all of the damage he’s already done.

I’ve asked this question many times before–what would Republicans do if Barak Obama, our first black President who is still enormously popular, had re-named after himself aircraft carriers already named and under construction, tried to put his name above that of Kennedy on the JFK Center for Performing Arts, re-named an airport, and torn down part of the White House to build a vanity gilded ballroom to honor himself? They would still be screaming.

Essentially, DSA individuals want to destroy our constitutional republic and replace it with Marxist tyranical rule. If elected, DSA individuals will be required to swear and oath declaring to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the Unied States of America.” Affirmation of this oath would be in direct conflict with their stated platform and agenda. They would be lying. Two questions arise from this dilema: (1) Can DSA individuals who swear allegance to the Constitution be procecuted for lying under oath?; (2) Can Congress prevent DSA individuals from being sworn into office, because of their stated agenda?

Article I Section 5 of the U.S. Constitution grants each the House and Senate power to decide if elected members are eligible to be seated. The U.S. Supreme Court in 1969 in Powell v McCormack limited that power of Congress only to challenge whether the elected official meets the requirements of age, citizenship, or residency. So technically one could run for office stating to not support the current Constitution (i.e., DSA positions to abolish the Senate, abolish the Electoral College, have Congress elect the President) only to take the oath of office “ . . . to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic” in full knowledge that doing so is lying and, according to Supreme Court case law, there is nothing that can be done about it. However, as has been said elsewhere, the Constitution is not a suicide pact. If a DSA member is elected to either the House or Senate this election cycle, and if either the House or Senate remains under a Republican majority, that elected DSA member should be refused to be seated. This would tee up a constitutional issue that would require the Supreme Court to reconsider the decision in Powell v McCormack. (I’d bet that Justice Thomas would relish that.) If an elected official is allowed to take the oath of office that he or she knowingly, in advance, is determined to violate, what good is it to pledge to an oath?
