It appears that nothing says “saving Democracy” like a good old-fashioned military coup. A new survey from the Center for Strategic Politics found that 59 percent of Democrats would favor a military coup to remove President Donald Trump from office. All it took was four years out of power for these Democratic voters to embrace a coup d’état to negate the results of the last election. What is particularly chilling is that many of these voters still portray themselves as defending democracy by calling for a military takeover. It is akin to supporting drive-by shootings to combat gun violence. That is not the only shocker in this survey.According to the Center, roughly six in 10 (59%) Democrats polled said they would feel “very positive” or “somewhat positive” if the US military removed Trump and seized control of the American government.
The vast majority, of course, would be happy if Trump were impeached and removed from office (87%) or ousted by his cabinet via the 25th Amendment (84%).
The survey also shows the same overwhelming support for socialism in the new Democratic Party. What is surprising is the support for public ownership of industries. That includes almost half (46%) supporting public ownership and operation of grocery stores. Almost 40 percent support public ownership and operation of restaurants. (39%).
I have previously said that I do not recognize the current Democratic Party as someone raised in a politically active and liberal Democratic family. I first became estranged from the party over the radical shift from a pro-free speech party to one that supported censorship and speech curtailment.
Despite many who claim that the Democratic Socialists represent a small fraction of the party, these polls show a consistent and growing majority in support of socialism.
The addition of support for a military coup shows the manifestation of a rage addiction in America. Democratic leaders are now calling for trashing core constitutional institutions or values. When some of us criticized moves to pack the Supreme Court, leaders like Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom accused us of engaging in mere “nostalgia.”
It is the same “nostalgia” that leaves many of us shocked at the support for a military coup. On our 250th anniversary, we face yet again Benjamin Franklin’s warning that this is a Republic if we can keep it.

For whatever reason, the Prof does not link to this poll. The Center for Strategic Politics is a self-described progressive think tank that does conduct polls, but does not have this one on their website. I have what I think is a healthy skepticism for something I can’t verify for myself. So, at this point I can’t disprove our fave socialists claim that this poll is a lie. I assume the Prof did not simply make this poll up out of whole cloth, but until I can find it independently I can’t be sure the Prof hasn’t been hoaxed.

I’m not convinced that “free speech” extravagantly defined to include all shades of incivility is helping — having lived through the pre-internet USA, I remember a nation better at dealing constructively with conflict when editors and radio-TV producers filtered out the rage rhetoric, and gave airtime to voices that were 1) educated, 2) well-meaning, and 3) open-minded.
Mr. Zuckerburg and Mr. Dorsey “disrupted” a national communication infrastructure that possessed BOTH free expression and non-militancy. It was so much better. It’s somewhat shocking that a majority of Dems favor a military coup — but this is the result of giving unhinged zealotry a mic and amplifier.

At the same time, I would also say we as a nation are failing at what OLLY calls formation of citizens.
I am in college and these young people, from what I have seen, have no clue as to what is going on in the world. And what they do know is from sound bites or what gets posted on their Facebook page and a lot of that is crap.
On the other hand, I also know more than a few older people whom I think should know better who do the same.
Upstate, what you’re seeing in class isn’t a lack of formation. Everyone is formed for something. Those students were formed, just by feeds and sound bites instead of families, neighborhoods, and churches.
I’ve spent years cataloging philosophers, statesmen, and authors across 2,500 years who wrote about the importance of formation. Our problem isn’t unique to this era or this country.
Our Constitution was written by and for a generation formed for this kind of government. I identified 12 axes of formation that generation demonstrated, then tracked them across 14 eras to today. The drift is measurable.
Design a government suited to our citizens’ formation today and you’d get an administrative oligarchy. Minus the pesky constitutional barriers.
Trump Invites Putin To G 20
The Trump administration has issued a formal invitation for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the Group of 20 summit to be held in Miami in December.
“We’ve invited President Putin to the G20,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters Wednesday at a press conference on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Trump has revived efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine and has sought to put the U.S. in a more neutral negotiating position, by extending favor to Russia while appearing to impose pressure on Ukraine to make concessions to end hostilities.

Trump Defying Court Order
The Trump administration barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from entering the White House grounds on Thursday morning, hours after a federal judge ordered the immediate restoration of their access.
It was not initially clear if the administration was intentionally defying the judge’s order, or if the journalists had been blocked because of some logistical confusion among security personnel.
