UC Professor: Let’s Convene “People’s Tribunals” for the “Dezionization” of Higher Education

University of California Merced History Professor Sean Malloy is the latest academic to go full Madam Defarge in higher education. Malloy is calling for the assemblage of tribunals to “dezionize” universities. He has explained that “People’s Tribunals” go beyond ridding universities of zionists “but also confronting the role of Zionist organizations, donors, Regents, and administrators in repression targeted at members of the university community.”

Malloy argues that “the tradition of People’s Tribunals perhaps provides a better path forward.” It was not enough to virtually eliminate conservatives and libertarians from faculty departments. He calls Zionists the “driving force behind many of the external and internal threats to the UC and its faculty, staff, and students.”

According to his faculty bio, Sean Malloy teaches at the university’s Department of History & Critical Race and Ethnic Studies with a specialty in “colonialism, war, white supremacy, and the critical study of Zionism.” He writes in the Ethnic Studies Council at UC Substack that Zionism is a “driving force behind many of the external and internal threats to the UC and its faculty, staff, and students.”

The People’s Tribunal would “extensively document the University’s past complicity with the crimes of the Israeli state as well as its internal repression of anti-Zionist dissidents and then to formulate appropriate remedies and forms of accountability.” He added that they might “include representatives from Palestinian universities who could provide recommendations on how UC might at least partially atone for its past complicity with the destruction of those universities and the murder of their students, faculty, and staff.”

This is not merely to cleanse the university of “zionist” Regents and administrators, but “others within the UC system” who are guilty of “active collaboration with Zionism” or “the repression of students, staff, and faculty here at the UC.”

Previously, The College Fix reported how Malloy was outraged by a “threatening” display posted by the UC Merced College Republicans because it included the phrases “I Love Undocumented Firearms” and “ICE ICE Baby.”

Ironically, the man who is now calling for People’s Tribunals declared that he was “disgusted that some of [UC Merced] students would advocate for the government-sponsored ethnic cleansing of their fellow students.”

This is the type of academic whom faculty and administrators believe should be teaching students today. We recently discussed how Harvard Medical School hired an artist-in-residence who called for the release of Luigi Mangione and helped organize a panel that explored how weight-loss drugs are a militaristic, imperialistic plot.

Radical faculty members on the left are common across the country, and many espouse the same hate-filled and violent rhetoric.

Professors have regularly advocated “detonating white people,” denouncing police, calling for Republicans to suffer,  strangling police officers, celebrating the death of conservatives, calling for the killing of Trump supporters, supporting the murder of conservative protesters, and making other outrageous statements. A San Diego University professor celebrated the death of an Israeli soldier who was eaten by a shark.

While you cannot be too radical on the left for many departments, even a moderate or center-right applicant will find it challenging to secure a teaching position today.  An openly conservative candidate would be a nonstarter at many departments.  Forty percent of faculty admit they would never vote for a Trump supporter, regardless of qualifications, publications, or accomplishments.

Instead, they hire faculty like Malloy, who believes that faculties must now also be purged of accused zionists. For faculty who were silent as their conservative and Republican colleagues were gradually eliminated from departments, the move should hardly be surprising. We have seen those who once supported speech regulations and woke policies become the targets of the very mobs that they once appeased.

In Rage and the Republic, I write about how academic and political figures are ignoring history as they pander to radical groups. Democratic leaders like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries believe that they can ride a rage wave back into power. What they ignore is how these revolutions ultimately “devour their own.” Today’s revolutionaries become tomorrow’s reactionaries.

Of course, Professor Malloy and his People’s Tribunals will no doubt sort out those remaining in higher education.

  1. Full Mme DeFarge? Full Herr Hitler, more like. Will the Jewish professors be made to wear stars soon?

    Mostly peaceful protests? Historians please weigh in: How did Kristallnacht spark? Was it followed up with mealymouthings and gaslighting by elected officials?

  2. I want to take the time here to thank the good professor (and my nephew, who graduated from Hillsdale College) for making me aware of The College Fix, a publication I would otherwise likely not have been aware of. Just like JustTheNews, the Fix exposes students to the news and issues that are selectively not covered by MSM.

    e.g., from October 20, (and this one is not about Sean Malloy):

    https://www.thecollegefix.com/appeals-court-upholds-deportation-of-brown-professor-with-alleged-ties-to-muslim-terrorists/

    1. The College Fix is an extreme right wing organization whose goal is to destroy public higher education and replace it with “Christian” based colleges.

      It was founded and funded by Betsy Devos, Trump’s former Secretary of Education. She is a fundamentalist, evangelical Christian who has publicly stated that her education reform advocacy is driven by her faith and a desire to “advance God’s Kingdom”. She wants to destroy the current public education system and use government money to establish private colleges where education will focus on religion.

      The Heritage Foundation and the Koch Family Foundation are also big financial contributors.

      1. WOW, my nephew hasn’t stepped foot in a church for years and years, and Betsy Devos is NOT a “founder” of The College Fix, not even close…definitely no cigar for you.

        But, Thanks anyway, “anonymous.” If I knew what college you went to (if any), I would forward your comment to it (your school, if any) for discussion and correction among its students.

        1. The DeVos family provided the initial funding to create the Student Free Press Association, which is the publisher of the College Fix. DeVos family members have served on the board of the Student Free Press Association.

          The organization would not exist without DeVos funding. They provided the funding to start the organization, and continue to be the main source of funding.

          The DeVos family are extremist fundamentalist Christians who seek to impose their religious beliefs on higher education and the country as a whole.

          1. “The DeVos family provided the initial funding to create the Student Free Press Association, which is the publisher of the College Fix. DeVos family members have served on the board of the Student Free Press Association.”

            If true – and you are not credible SO WHAT ?

            “The organization would not exist without DeVos funding. They provided the funding to start the organization, and continue to be the main source of funding.”

            First speculation and then SO WHAT ?

            Would communism exist without Marx ?

            “The DeVos family are extremist fundamentalist Christians who seek to impose their religious beliefs on higher education and the country as a whole.”

            False – getting rid of public education does not impose any values on YOU or the country as a whole – beyond individual liberty.

            Obliterate Government public education and what you have is people free to make their own choices – whatever they may be.

            To impose your reliious beleifs on others REQUIRES FORCE aka GOVERNMENT.

            Removing government from anything eliminates FORCE. It TERMINATES imposing values on others.

            Government exists to US FORCE to impose values on all of us. Values like – Thous shalt not kill or thous shalt not steal

            Not values like blame the jews for everything and then lets exterminate them.

            Or the indoctrination of students in a political ideology – any ideology.

            There are very very few values that are necescary for a functional society that require FORCE – again values such as though shalt not kill.

            All the rest us free to each individual.

            Destroying govenrment education does not FORCE evangelical values on everyone. It ENDS the ability of the left to FORCE its values on people.

            The only people trying to FORCE their values – religious or otherwise on people are those of you on the left.

      2. Thank you for characterizing The College Fix in such a positive light. Your de facto endorsement makes it a must read. I’ve bookmarked it.

      3. The College Fix is an extreme right wing organization

        ==

        IOW, it’s a perfectly sensible organization which offends you because you’re a lunatic.

        1. Amen

          Worse still it offends him specifically because it is trying to END ATS from doing exactly what he claims Devos is doing – imposing values on others by force.

          If education is not public – each of us are free to choose the education we want for our children.

      4. ATS

        There is nothing that the right could do to colleges that would compete in horror with what those of you on the left have already done.

        I have no problems with christian values – what are the christian values you object to ?

        Do unto others as you would have them do unto you ?

        I have no problem with Devos – except that when she left the US Department of education was still standing.

        “She is a fundamentalist, evangelical Christian”

        I would not trust you to judge but SO WHAT ?

        Is there something wrong with beleiving in god ?

        ” who has publicly stated that her education reform advocacy is driven by her faith and a desire to “advance God’s Kingdom””

        Again while I do not trust you to accurately potray anyone on the right – still SO WHAT ?

        Christianity is not a crime. It has been almost a thousand years since any christians went arround murdering people in the name of their religion and even that was short lived.

        Those the left supports are murdering people driven by religion today.

        Nowhere in christian dogma are the faithful promised 70 virgins in heaven for murdering non-beleivers.

        What is the bug you have up your a$$ about christianity ?

        The very worst of modern christianity is head and shoulders more decent than the modern left.

        I am not a christian and not a fundimentalist – but I would choose Jerry Falwell over the hateful likes of the left

        “She wants to destroy the current public education system and use government money to establish private colleges”

        Good – completely in favor.

        ” where education will focus on religion.”

        Some will, some wont. That is the thing about private colleges – they can not be FORCED into anything – not even by Evangelicals.

        Private colleges must appeal to private donors and to students paying their way through college.

        They must offer value for value.

        It is not my business whether some private colleges are evangelical, or islamist, or Catholic or athiest or humanist, or communist or capitalist – atleast not unless I donate to them of otherwise fund them.

        “The Heritage Foundation and the Koch Family Foundation are also big financial contributors.”

        Sounds like a huge endorsement.

        Where can I contribute ?

  3. It seems for Sean Malloy that Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) is but a means of formidable indoctrination rather than actual critical analysis. Understanding of how race has structured human life not only for the worst but also for the best of [all] humanity is a good thing, but if it is to be narrowed to just another means for further promoting antisemitism along with a host of discriminations of other kinds nothing of lasting value is achieved.

    1. Young,

      You are correct.

      And as the good professor has pointed out, those calling for a “People’s Tribunal” are likely to wind up in front of the “Lynch Mob.”

      1. Upstate,

        The thing that concerns me is that no matter how vicious these ideas appear, what these people will actually do if they get power will be much worse.

        The history of the French Revolution should not be ignored. Many of the members of the Estates-General that became the National Assembly lost their lives in the events that followed.

        Bailey, who to my mind is a sympathetic, well-meaning intellectual who was renowned as an astronomer and mathematician, led the National Assembly and was the first to take the Tennis Court Oath. He later removed legal disabilities from Jewish people and admitted them as full citizens. A Revolutionary mob abhors decent men. Bailey soon died on the guillotine.

  4. That he still has his job is very telling. This is straight up Nazi Heinrich Himmler stuff. Somewhere in hell Hitler and his gang are laughing and doing high fives.

  5. Here is a public service announcement to the regular visitors of Res ipsa loquitur:

    No part of the body is immune to age-related changes. As you get older, you may experience some very noticeable — and often annoying — changes in how your bladder functions.

    It’s not uncommon for older adults to spend more time in the bathroom. An overactive bladder becomes the norm for many.

    While some bladder changes are a natural result of aging, there are habits that can make the problem better or worse.

    There are several reasons why your bladder function changes with age.

    The most significant change is that the bladder becomes less elastic. That means it’s no longer capable of holding as much urine as it used to. The loss of elasticity can also affect how well the bladder can empty when you pee.

    Another change that can have you running for the bathroom is that the bladder contracts more frequently. When you’re younger, the bladder is stronger and more flexible, and your brain can more easily ignore these contractions. With age, the contractions increase and are harder to ignore.

    The physical changes to the bladder make it less capable of holding urine effectively. As the bladder walls become less flexible, the bladder can no longer expand. So, it feels fuller more quickly — and needs to be emptied more often.

    Typically, it’s considered “normal” to pee every three to four hours. Age-related bladder changes can increase that frequency. For men, having an enlarged prostate (also more common with age) can also increase how often you need to pee.

    Medications can sometimes play a role in frequent urination. Drugs that can make you pee more often include:

    • Antidepressants
    • Antihistamines
    • Calcium channel blockers (used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease)
    • Diuretics
    • Sodium-glucose cotransporter-w (SGLT2) inhibitors (used to treat diabetes and heart failure)

    Common causes of urine leakage

    Urinary incontinence is one of the most dreaded side effects of an aging bladder. You might find that you begin to leak urine when you laugh, cough, run or jump. Or you may experience such urgency to pee that you don’t always make it to the toilet in time.

    Urine leakage can affect both men and women as they get older. The more frequent contractions of the bladder wall are like spasms that trigger the urinary sphincter to relax. This is similar to turning on a faucet. And if the sphincter relaxes too quickly, you may leak urine.

    In women, the urethra (the tube through which urine exits the body) changes with age. It can become shorter and the lining thinner, both of which can affect the urinary sphincter. Over time, these changes can make it difficult for the sphincter to close completely, resulting in more frequent leaks.Habits that can reduce the symptoms of an overactive bladder

    Some of these age-related bladder changes are beyond your control. But there are steps you can take to reduce how much those changes affect your daily life.

    Habits that can help reduce the frequent urge to pee and urine leakage include:

    • Avoiding foods and drinks that irritate the bladder: Alcohol, carbonated beverages, caffeinated drinks, spicy foods and chocolate can irritate the bladder and make you feel more urgency.
    • Exercising regularly: Staying physically fit and active keeps your whole body — including your bladder — healthier.
    • Maintaining a healthy weight: Carrying excess weight can add more pressure to your bladder, making it even more difficult to control your urine.
    • Quitting smoking: Smoking can make bladder issues worse. It can also lead to coughing, which can trigger urine leaks.
    • Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles: The pelvic floor muscles support the bladder and urethra. When they’re weak, you’re more likely to experience urgency and leakage.

    When to see your doctor about bladder changes

    You don’t have to accept bladder problems as an inevitable result of getting older. There are many treatments available for people experiencing frequent urination, urgency and incontinence.

    Talk to your doctor about any changes to your peeing habits. They can help you decide if medication, pelvic floor therapy or other remedies can help.

    1. I’m 77, my bladder is working just fine. That pill I take to make me pee is working just fine also. I took my 2 labradors for a five mile walk this morning. I’m glad I walk in wooded areas , that way I can answer nature’s call.

      What a miserable life you must live, sitting in the bathroom, composing your trash, day by day. Some day you may grow up but I suspect you will be no better or more enlightened no matter what age you attain. You already conduct your venom from the bathroom and someday it will be the basement and finally they will move you into a room with Joe Biden. At that time you will have an appropriate audience.

  6. “. . . dezionize’ universities.”

    The 1933 vanilla-sounding “Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service” was used by the Nazis to purge Jewish professors and administrators from German universities. It was quickly followed by similar anti-Semitic legislation to purge Jewish students from those universities.

    The hysterical appeals to “Jewish threats” are identical. The collectivist, totalitarian and racist ideology is the same. Purges as “remedies” are identical.

    And if this noxious movement continues, so will be the Final Solution.

    1. Bingo. And for the same reason. The Naxis needed the Hews as a scapegoat. The DSA metal. Need the Jews to divert attention from their communist plot.

    2. “The hysterical appeals to “Jewish threats” are identical”

      It likely cost them the atomic bomb, their rejection of what Hitler called the “Jewish Physics’. That contribution to the science, and the Jewish physicist who lead the project, eventually save the world, but at a terrible cost to the human condition.

    3. Zionists support a purified Jewish state. In the US they are a political parasite that seeks to divert US taxpayer funding to that goal. The Zionist fundamental view is that they are the Chosen People and everyone else are subhumans.

  7. Mallory’s call to replace Regents with a “People’s Commission” occurs at a university of a State governed in Sacramento. Left on top of Left. Not reassuring. That looks like a secret sauce in a black box that nobody else understands. Does that sound familiar? It should. Enthusiasm for secret sauce in a black box in the form of derivative mortgage backed securities with margin calls led to the Great Recession of 2007-2009. Warren Buffet saw that fiasco coming in 2002. We have the history of the French Terror to recognize this secret sauce in a black box.

  8. Another crazy? Mr. Malloy is anti Moses? He’s anti DJT who’s pro zionists. Mr. Malloy is looking for a date night. It’s Merced, folks.

    Enjoy the lovely autumnal weather.

  9. It’s so sad that polite, respectful, reticent academics who stick to the function of their jobs TEACHING the course material….are outvoiced, outnumbered, outsmarted and outrun by loudmouth political academics who USE their positions to stoke and teach non-course-related ideological objectives to captive student audiences.

  10. Mallory is essentially a Nazi That he is allowed to poison the minds of students in a public university is disgusting As a UC graduate I would rather give a donation to a KKK militia than to Berkeley He would be purged and his carbon footprint eliminated

  11. sooooooooo Well Said, Prof. Turley..!!! Rage appointed ‘professors’ like Sean Malloy need to wake up to the fact that they are not only UNqualified to teach ‘History’ when they have no clue about it, esp. as it pertains to the History of Higher Education and how it was built and by whom,, etc…. but that such characters as ‘Sean Malloy’ in the rage political theatre unfolding are not only ‘inadequate,’ projecting their unresolved chilhood anger issues out into the world.. but clueless that they are mere puppets…

    1. Many Western Governments Won’t Survive
      Why would citizens defend governments that abuse them?
      …
      They are actively doing things that are destroying their countries:
      (1) replacing their native citizens with unassimilable foreigners;
      (2) centralizing government power in unelected and unaccountable bureaucracies;
      (3) censoring and criminalizing public dissent;
      (4) offshoring industrial and manufacturing jobs;
      (5) exacerbating energy costs and general inflation by demonizing hydrocarbons and pushing “global warming” delusions;
      (6) increasing taxes, government spending, and public welfare in unsustainable ways;
      (7) demolishing their nations’ historical identities, traditions, beliefs, and common cultures;
      (8) providing foreigners with “free” homes, food, and educations, while accusing native citizens of being “racists,” “xenophobes,” and “white supremacists”;
      (9) discouraging healthy marriages and stable families; and
      (10) indoctrinating the youngest generations to believe that war, “climate change,” overpopulation, and economic collapse will prevent them from ever having happy, hopeful, purposeful futures.

      Those are just ten ways that Western governments are hurting their citizens. …

  12. Study the history of the French revolution and also the rise of tyrants in post WWI Germany and other nations devasted by that war.

    Also study the rise of the concept of communism among the ignorant and poor of nations who followed the pied pipers of equity and free stuff.

    Then study the history of islam.

    Now package it all up and you recognize, not only our media/education industry, but the democrat party that has been conquered by the ideologies of all the above mentioned movements.

    Perhaps it may explain the coming chaos to this nation should democrats ever gain control of any part of our government.

  13. I ran a small construction company for 30+ years. I did not, nor could have had a litmus test other than qualifications for the job. If I had the same employment practices and called for tribunals to remove certain ethnic or ideological employees, the government via the EEOC, DOJ and lawyers would be all over me. My business would be shut down and I would be bankrupt due to legal fees.

    Since I am not a lawyer, I ask, why or how are these schools and businesses that apply these ideological programs still operating? Is it due to the political side? The reluctance of the DOJ and EEOC? Someone please explain why (other than the obnoxious anonymous)?

    1. “Someone please explain why (other than the obnoxious anonymous)?”

      By the very nature of the construct of our Constitution, and our Constitutional Republic, we have rejected laws against hate speech for the sake of maintaining freedom of speech.. Advocacy of the overthrow of the government is clearly defined, as well are the tenets of the Civil Rights Act with respect to the protection of citizens against discriminatory activities. it is maddening to see what one deems as ‘common sense’ go to hell in a hand basket, but time and tide have refuted what often appeared to be ‘common sense’ but was not. At times, we seem to be hoisted by our own petards, but that explains why we have survived as a nation, and so-called ‘melting pot’ for these 250 years. Now there are those abroad, in the streets, and raised by many to the halls of government, local, state, and federal, who would seek to toss the baby out with the bath water. Perhaps a revisiting of Lincoln’s ‘Gettysburg Address’, is in order to remind us of the sacrifices which were made to preserve the status quo and bring us to this moment in time. Shall they have died in vain?

      1. I understand his first amendment rights and support them. It is the purging, or dismissal of anyone that does not fit their ideology I wonder about. Thus the question arises that the dismissal or not hiring, is not for performance related. Doesn’t this also go to viewpoint discrimination thus a violation of the persons civil rights? Or is the only way for remedy through the courts? I guess then you would have to have evidence that proves the discrimination. I am sure the simple ravings of a professor will not be admissible.
