“That’s What I Know”: 70-Year-Old Poet Slaps Turning Point Poll Worker in New Hampshire

If Boris Pasternak is right that “no bad man can be a good poet,” it does not say much for the work of Stephen Redic. The 70-year-old poet was caught on videotape verbally abusing a young Turning Point member in New Hampshire at a polling area and then slapping him. The victim did nothing to provoke Redic, who became unhinged by Rainer Vesey who was engaging bystanders with a chance to debate issues in this election. The videotape is another example of the rising rage where some irate voters believe that they have a license to engage in political violence.

Vesey was with his brother, Asher Vesey, from Old Lyme, Connecticut, when Vesey declared that he wanted “to read a poem about rich people.” What followed was a confrontation with Vesey as Redic raved about being challenged by the young man.

Redic appeared most upset by the mere fact that he was being questioned or doubted, declaring “You sit there, and dare to look me in the face, and say I don’t know anything?”

After waving the middle finger in the face of Vesey, he declares “That’s what I know.” It was a telling moment. What he knows is rage. In today’s siloed media environment, many read little about opposing views and have even less interaction with others from a different perspective. The result is that they become irate and even violent when suddenly faced with someone questioning their judgment.

This is precisely why Charlie Kirk created Turning Point. He simply went to campuses offering to debate people on the left. The invitation was often met with fury by those who see no room for dialogue on issues dividing our nation.

The rage seems to have transformed the poet who wrote “In the peace of our love/And cool shadows of our souls,/Sing me a lullaby/Softly and slow.”

This may be why another New England poet, Robert Frost, wrote about how “good fences make good neighbors.”

Redic is now charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct by the Laconia Police Department.

  1. He should be hung by the neck until dead:

    Just kidding.

But he should be 5150’d. (72 hour hold)

  2. Last week Donald Trump kept making comments about the butts of certain men and how manly those butts looked to him.

Trump’s comments dont necessarily mean Trump is really gay. But they could easily represent early signs of dementia.

That’s how dementia often looks: ‘Weird comments, out of left field, that are totally out of character for the senior in question’.

And that could easily be the case with the old man featured here. He might be someone who was normally gentle and low key. But lately he’s been saying things totally out of character.

    1. “Last Week …”

And for the past 60 years.

Donald Trump has an infinitely long history af making comments that are a distraction from whatever issue he is talking about.

No the remark is not out of character – those of you on the left have commenting on Trump remarks exactly like this since 2015.

That is absolutely nothing new. There is no indication Trump is getting dementia.

There is no indication he is not in excellent health – I doubt you could have managed the 30 day straight campaign swing he did – even if it did not work.

Actual demensia usually emerged much earlier – Contra left wing nuts Biden was showing clear signs of impairment in 2015.

If Trump was developing Dementia it should have shown signs a decade ago.

Trump is 80 While the odds heavily favor his living to 2028 without any impairment, With certainty his health is NOT going to improve over time, and he COULD die tomorow. He is far more likely to die by 2028 than Vance or Rubio.

I do expect that over the next 2 years we will see more of Vance and less of Trump.

Further there were SLIGHT differences in Vances response to this election and Trumps.

Vance said more about Where Republicans need to go in the future.

Trump took responsibility, attributed the results to the war, and stated that he had no choice.

      1. Right, John Say, Trump has a long history of getting distracted and veering off the rabbit hole. But Trump has never talked about mens butts before.

What’s more, dementia is very common for seniors at 80. Furthermore, it’s odd Republicans voted for Trump after making so much out of Biden’s old age. It’s like Republicans said, “Oh yeah? ‘We’ can elect a senile old man too”.

            1. F OFF PSYCHO MORON ANON! DF PSYCHO THINKS EVERYONE IS ESTOVIR OR DUSTOFF!!

Loony bin would be a great fit for PSYCHO MORON ANON!!

    2. Trump has been saying weird things in his speeches since 2013, when he believed he had been named “Michigan’s Man of the Year.” He had merely been invited by the Oakland County (MI) Republicans to speak at their Lincoln Day Dinner.

A member reported he rambled over “every topic under the sun.”
