Czech Republic Denounced Over Castration Practices

85px-coat_of_arms_of_the_czech_republicsvg The international community and the Council of Europe’s Anti-Torture Committee have denounced the widespread use of castration by the Czech Republic for sex offenders. The Council has called for an end to what it refers to as invasive, irreversible and mutilating” punishment.

The Czech Republic has castrated at least 94 prisoners in the last ten years. This includes first-time, non-violent offenders, such as exhibitionists. The government insists that such procedures are voluntary but critics insist that the defendants are given the stark choice of lengthy sentences or castration.
These case include some mentally retarded prisoners.

“You are charged with attempting to have sex with an underage girl. How do you plead?”

    “I plead insanity, your honor.”

    “Insanity?”

“I’m just crazy about that stuff!”

    “Bailiff! Whack his pee pee!”

“Get your G–damn hands off me!”

    – to paraphrase Cheech & Chong, who were apparently ahead of Czech legal in pioneering innovative punishment.

This is an issue of misapplication of concept and unequal application in practice.

This punishment should be reserved for war profiteers and fascists. And televised.

    Buddha,
I am with you. This kind of severe punishment should be reserved for those that order torture. It is interesting to see that the Czech Republic has the same punishment system as the Taliban. Maybe the Trolls are going to be writing that the US should attack the Czech Republic next!
