Penny Wise, Pound Foolish: Arkansas Man Arrested After Bringing Bag of Nickels to Bank . . . With a Gun Inside

150px-2006_nickel_proof_obvCamden Arkansas police are dealing with a new form of a nickel plated hand-gun. An 18-year-old man walked into the BancorpSouth with a bag of nickels but forget that, with the $88 of nickels, he had left a .44-caliber handgun. He was arrested and then a bad day took a turn for the worst.


After the bank called the police, the police got a search warrant for the man’s home where they found $16,000 worth of allegedly stolen property, including eight firearms. It turns out that the nickels were stolen as well. Notably, while unloaded, the ammunition for the gun was in the bag as well.
