A Life in the Law: New Hampshire Man Arrested for 153rd Time Asserts His Self-Taught Legal Training

paul-baldwin-arrested-153-timesJustice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously observed that “the life of the law has not been logic, but experience.” One adherent to this principle appears to be Paul Baldwin, 48, who was arrested for the 153rd time and told a New Hampshire judge “I don’t need a lawyer – I’ve been in this court more than you have.”

Baldwin’s latest arrest came after he allegedly punched a man in the face. He had only been out of jail for a week (for stealing a can of beer) when he was arrested for the new offense. He is being held at the Rockingham County Jail on charges of simple assault and two counts of criminal trespass. He appeared by video in a surgical mask because of fears that he was contagious due to a respiratory ailment. bilde

Of course, J.D.’s are not normally awarded under a frequent felon program.

  1. Another University Betrays America

Wake Forest University School of Law Sold Out like a Street Whore.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Wake Forest University disgraced it’s name and shamed Winston-Salem and North Carolina in honoring supreme Warmonger Joe Biden at it’s commencement May 18th with an honorary doctor of laws degree. Biden has been an international War Criminal for years in selling, initiating, funding, conspiring and waging Wars of Aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wake Forest University Biden, Wake Forest University honors War Crimes.

Biden in on the level with Bush, Cheney, Obama and Hitler as supreme War Criminals.

  2. Thank you Swartzmore mom.

I do keepp coming back and back. Sometimes work interferes with these posts.

Mike S., FF LEO, and anyone else that thought I did it.

See, I did not do it, this time at least for now.

  3. Paul Baldwin is the grandson of Otis Campbell.
Also Otis was never a violent drunk.

AY: You gonna quit scratchin that thick ol skin of yours?

  4. Guess I’d better chime in too. I only go by my name–or occasionally under Generalissimo Francisco Franco, but that’s a long story and way too many tequila’s ago. Ole’

I did not realize that there was someone falsely identifying themselves as you. I did check and confirmed that the last entry was indeed made by one of our regulars, who also adopted other identities. I have banned him from the site…. While we respect anonymity, I will bar anyone who is assuming the identity of another poster to mislead or embarrass people.

It was not I, at least this time. LOL. So now the cats out of the bag and I did not do it. I generally have no problem saying what I think to the person that is offensive and when I am called down. I too will acknowledge it when I am wrong.

  6. Prof. Turley,

While I think most of us can assume what ‘regular’ was responsible for posting as “Patty C.” (with a period), you *might* consider exposing the person’s screen name so that others do not make the wrong assumption about a regular who might not post for awhile and therefore people might erroneously think that person was the guilty party.

We discussed the “Patty C.” imposter a week or more ago, others and I noticed several imposter posts, and one was just yesterday (someone falsely posted as Jim Byrne, who is not a regular). Exposing the name is not to embarrass or give other regulars the opportunity to say ‘I told you so.’ Posting the name might also prevent others from using someone else’s nom de plume by sheer potential embarrassment alone.

If you do not post the name, I can see this thread growing quite long with “it was not me!” type posts; that is, for those who read this section. For those regulars who miss reading this thread and then go on vacation or have a computer failure, etc. they might unfairly become a suspect of being the imposter/cheat/charlatan/fraud/sham/phony.

This is just a suggestion to prevent any unfair speculation and lessening the opportunity for other peoples’ guessing whom the culprit was while posting in other, unrelated threads.

  7. Graci.

I did not wish to trouble you with this, but it’s been getting out of hand. I’m sorry it was one of the ‘regulars’, as well, but also as I suspected.

    I appreciate your kind attention.

So what’s cooking at the Turley Compound this summer?

  8. Without consensus one man’s law is another man’s crime.

And just as applicable here “it is not the hearers of the law but rather the doer’s of the law who are justified” (James).

  9. Mr. Baldwin may never earn a degree, but he’s a cinch for the Claude Rains Usual Suspects Lifetime Achievement Award.

  10. JT,

I’d like you to track who is posting this garbage and trying to pass it off as mine, please. Once and for all.

    Thanks,
    Patty C

I did not realize that there was someone falsely identifying themselves as you. I did check and confirmed that the last entry was indeed made by one of our regulars, who also adopted other identities. I have banned him from the site. I am very disappointed, obviously. We have a fairly unique site here that allows for civil and honest discussion. When I look at the nasty personal attacks prevalent on other sites, I am not sure why some many people want to come to this small island of civility to post nasty or bad faith entries. While we respect anonymity, I will bar anyone who is assuming the identity of another poster to mislead or embarrass people.

  11. Oh JT,

You must of missed the one where a person in Arizona was convicted of Murder and earned his JD while incarcerated. His only problem was the Character review portion. I am unsure if he ever got his Bar Card but he did pass the exam.

I have had clients like this man.

  12. Why haven’t U.S. universities given him an honorary doctor of laws degree like criminals Biden and Obama have been receiving? Maybe, as they, you have to be a supreme War Criminal or he hasn’t broken enough laws yet.

  13. how is it that my significant other is always stepping in it. God knows I have tried.

Now you all know why I like to bake cakes, but damn those files are getting to be expensive.
