Top 500: Vote For Your Favorite Lawyers

header_logoThe annual selection of the top 500 lawyers in America has begun at LawDragon. You can vote for your favorite colleagues, teachers, or counsel.

While I am happy to be on the ballot, I am more happy to see others not on the ballot. Notably, John Ashcroft is no longer on the list. Nor is John Yoo or most other Bush lawyers. Also missing is Alberto Gonzales this year.

What is interesting is the absence of Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are also off the list, even though the rest of the Court makes it on the ballot. Judiciary Chairman John Conyers and other members of Congress are also not on the list.

  1. Wayne:

it is available at Amazon so I will need to order it.

When I took the CCD course I did ask questions of the priest and his answers were very good and gave me additional knowledge.

A person sure in their faith is not threatened by questions from a neophyte.

  2. Byron, if you are in a CCD class, how have you jumped to the teachings of Okham? Are you genuinely interested in the teachings of Aquinas, then you should go read “The Summa Theologica”. It is pretty deep, but extremely profound. Also, I might suggest you read, “The Imitation of Christ”, by Thomas a’Kempis. That is if you really seek the truths of our Church, and would like to grow in charity, humility and wisdom….

  3. Whether or not I am the worst case for being Catholic does not change the Truths, that is presented by Her. I am a sinner, I say stupid, inappropriate and imprudent things, heck- look at how I cap on Mespuke. Remember, I may sound very uncharitable, but I have no malice toward you or any of your fellow bloggers. Even though I marvel at the close-mindedness of Buddha(pest) and Mespuke, I bear them no ill-will. We’re just posting on the net..

  4. Byron, of course you are pressing buttons. You have no desire to learn from me, you only want to argue with me in order to soothe your ego. If you are sincere you might take the’humble’ approach and say, “thanks Wayne”, I think I will invest in a copy of ‘Father Smith Instructs Jackson’. When you are attending your CCD class, do you ask the Priest who is attempting to instruct you in the teachings of the Church or to engage you in a debate! I assume you are in attendance to learn! If you want to learn than reflect on what I am presenting and go read the book I have implored you to read. This will come as a shock to you Byron, but I know a little bit about my faith and the teachings of the Church. Whether or not you choose to subscribe to what I say, is OK, just go check it out, if you are really sincere.

  5. Wayne:

All I can see is you calling people a pest or a stonehead with some Gregory thrown in. Not much case for God in what you wrote but then maybe I am missing something.

And you are even angry over what I have asked-

“My life and mankind is not to be judged by the childlike presentaion of a law student, who is seeking the approval and affirmation of his fellow bloggers.”

I am not a law student nor do I need the approval of those I do not know. Judging by what you have written here I think you may be in need of some pastoral counsling. I will pray that your soul finds peace in this life.

  6. Wayne:

I am not pressing any buttons, I am sincerely interested in Aquinas and others and have taken the CCD class for church membership. Although I have not joined.

Any buttons being pressed are in your mind.

I am merely saying that you are being rather harsh for no apparent reason. And you are not making much of a case for your point of view. Had I not taken the CCD course and gotten to know some of the priests, I would be hesitant to look into the Church based on your writings here.

  7. By the way, I thought I had already made my case for God and His Church. Can I assume that you have been following along on this post Byron?

  8. My life and mankind is not to be judged by the childlike presentaion of a law student, who is seeking the approval and affirmation of his fellow bloggers. Byron, my suggestion still stands, go read “Father Smith Instructs Jackson”. Please be open, and leave your ego at the door, while reading…

  9. Sadly, even the devil can argue eloquently, but the TRUTH-will even make him bow…….

  10. Byron, please rephrase your question, I am unclear on precisely what you are asking. I wonder if you even do…..

  11. Byron, when you asked about Aquinas and Okham, it was obvious you were not serious about learning the truths of the Church, you were only pressing buttons……

  12. Wayne:

Then do as the Saints did and make your case for Christ and God. Refutation through superior argument. Make your case for eternal life and let us judge on the merits of your argument whether you have a right to judgement.

  13. I wish I were half as eloquent or erudite as Gregory. Boy ‘he’ sure lit your fire, hopefully for the better……

  14. I can only assume Mespuke is frantically trying to glean as much info from Catholic wikkipedia right now, in the hopes of refuting the truths I have provided. He will invariably attempt to pervert the truth and confuse with obvious fraud and trickery. I so welcome it………

  15. Byron,

He’s trolling. I wouldn’t have responded to him, but I was hoping to bait him into posting a link so everyone could see just how badly he came off as “Gregory.”

Since that didn’t work, I suggest we all ignore him. He goes away eventually.

  16. Byron, anyman who attempts to lead people down the road of heresy and into hell, is given very little positive affirmation by ‘yours truly’……

  17. Saint John Fisher was the lone prelate in all of England who would not aquiesce to the king, he refused to sign the ‘oath of supremacy’. While imprisoned in London Tower, the Pope installed Saint John Fisher into the college of cardinals. This further enfuriated the vengeful King…….

  18. mespo,

A song so good one cannot malign it by association, but appropriate none the less.
