The annual selection of the top 500 lawyers in America has begun at LawDragon. You can vote for your favorite colleagues, teachers, or counsel.
While I am happy to be on the ballot, I am more happy to see others not on the ballot. Notably, John Ashcroft is no longer on the list. Nor is John Yoo or most other Bush lawyers. Also missing is Alberto Gonzales this year.
What is interesting is the absence of Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are also off the list, even though the rest of the Court makes it on the ballot. Judiciary Chairman John Conyers and other members of Congress are also not on the list.

Cromwell and master rich were both very clever and sly, and would have rather lost the “Kingdom’, but for Wales…….
Wayne,
What happened to Bron is what should happen to you if you continue with your nonsensical blathering.
Gyges(?)you are also under the same mandate that we all are. We are all to conform to the teachings of the Church.
Byron, a man dosn’t need to read Siger or Okham or even understand there writings to come to the realization that Jesus started “one” Church. All churches started by sinful, fallible men are false! We are all called to become members of the Church, not start one that conforms to our value system or prideful ambitions. King Henry wanted a divorce, he was not granted one so he started created the church of England. It is interesting to note that when Thomas More was Chancellor of all England, Henry wrote and published a work on apologetics refuting Luther and the emerging heresies brewing in Europe. This short book on apologetics was called “In Defense of the seven sacraments”. When he was not given the divorce he wanted his wrath and pride overrode all reason and he created a horrible breach, that exists to this day. Sain Thomas More along with saint John Fisher would not take the oath of supremacy, mandated by Parliament and they were martyred by the king. They both received the “crown” of martyrdom and sainthood.
Wayne,
My favorite part was how Gregory claimed that we should judge the Catholic church by what it says it does rather than what it does.
My favorite part of this stupid waste of everyone’s time is how you’re not linking to the discussion so we could all see the great Wa… I mean Gregory in action. Now why would that be?
Byron, if you want to know about the truths of the Catholic faith I would suggest you read, ‘Father Smith Instructs Jackson’, published by Our Sunday Visitor. Martin Luther was interesting in the fact that he refused to let his mother join the heresy and putrid mess he concocted, yet he was more than willing to let many in Europe lose there souls to the “false” church he started. Remember Byron, Jesus already started the Church, read the Gospel of Saint Matthew. What our Lord has started is for all time!, not for 15 centuries until Luther had his meltdown in Wittenburg. Aquinas, Bede and Newman are saints worth reading and pursuing. If you are serious about it,you need to pray and ask the Lord for guidance, He will listen to an honest person seeking the “truth”.
I loved how M. Appleton chimed in on the Catholic post way back when. He tryed to sound like the “calm” voice of reason, in his childlike quest to impress. He was also taken apart, bone-by-bone in this mano a mano throwdown. Ah, it was truly sweet to have a good Catholic man rise up like a”knight” of yore to defend the truths of holy mother Church.
Wayne:
I would like to know more about Martin Luther, I just finished a book on some of the priests of the RCC circa 1100-1500 AD. They just touched on Luther. The opinion of the auther was that Luther was a 2nd rate intellect as compared to Aquinas or Siger or Ockham.
His split from the church appears to have been about his trepidation that the RCC was heading in the direction of Aquinas and Ockham-reason to defend faith and he (Luther) was more interested in faith. Can you expand on these thoughts as you appear to know something about the RCC and it’s intellectual history?
Wayne:
Thanks for the review. Maybe you go back to being “Gregory” for a while…or perhaps we could re-fight the Civil War. That’s quite topical too.
On the theology issue, I try not to waste time debating fairy tales but you sound like a person who does. Tell me, did the Prince take unwelcome advantage when he awakened Sleeping Beauty with a kiss, or was she “asking for it”? I think I know your answer.
Whatever became of Bron, he was the ultimate sycophant on this blog. I so loved reading his posts, that were replete with yearnings of codependency…….
How are the plastic blow-up dolls of Liberace and John Holmes doing these days Mespo? Remember to clean it nightly Mespuke.
I have gone back and reread the post from way back. The information Gregory presented was not only 100% accurate it was written brilliantly. Go back and reread the post Mespuke!. You got manhandled by this “kid”. Everything he wrote was spot on. Your slavish little remoras that parasitize this website know the truth of the debate as you and I do. I guess your alleged expertise dosn’t extend into apologetics or theology…….
Why, thank you Wayne it’s nice of you to notice. How’s the toad farm?
Hello Mespo, aka “stonehead”. The symbol of a strangely androgenous looking marble head would seem to suit your personhood. This bizarre motif seems a fitting representation of what you present on this blog.
JT:
By the way, do we get to suggest questions for the judges to ask you guys while on stage? I want to know if you want to “help people,” or “tour the world.” Remember keep smiling and that sash goes from right to left!!
I hope Mr. Turley was voted in the top ten of the 500 most admired and sought after attorneys. Keep up the good work JT!
Wayne:
obsession:* S: (n) compulsion, obsession (an irrational motive for performing trivial or repetitive actions, even against your will) “her compulsion to wash her hands repeatedly.”
One wonders if reading Wayne and then feeling the urge to repeatedly wash one’s eyes equates to Wayne’s particular malady too?
In this world there is know Greek, Roman, Spaniard or Englishman. There are only two, Catholic or heretic, there is nothing else………
Rock and roll baby!
Buddha(pest), the Catholic Church is the true Church. The Catholic Church was started in the year 33 in Jerusalem. Martin Luther was a former Augustinian priest who fell in lust with a nun, and became the worst heresyarch of the 16th century. The Church was statred by Jesus Christ, not Martin Luther, Luther was a member of the true Church until pride and mendacity took hold in his heart and mind. He lives with Henry the V111, and a number of assorted other heretics who have emrged from the slimiest pools of hell in the last 400 plus years. Take it to the bank……….
