Officer Races Car at 104 mph on Personal Errand With Lights and Sirens — Kills Woman Crossing Street with Husband

_46422894_006107185-1Metropolitan_Police_FlagSandra Simpson, 61, probably thought of a myriad of dangers in London but never saw this one coming. Simpson was killed by officer Malcolm Searles, who was driving his patrol car as fast as 104 mph in a 40 mph zone with his sirens and lights on — to deliver a birthday card to a friend.

Searles has now been jailed for six-and-a-half years after admitting that he caused the death during a personal errand last August. He was driving 56mph in a 30mph zone when he hit Simpson, who was walking with her husband Peter at the time. He originally lied and said that he was chasing a drunk driver.

  1. Officer Down/ Needing Assistance we have a 10-1 in Chicago that American Style. So this officer get 6.5 years after killing someone in August. I guess the speedy trial works well in the UK how about gitmo?
