The medical examiner in Caracas, Venezuela faced an odd situation this week when the man they were cutting began to bleed — an indication that he was very much alive. Carlos Camejo, 33, was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue. They were wrong.
Camejo woke in the middle of the examination in excruciating pain. When his grieving wife came to identify the body, she found her husband alive and in the corridor.
I am going to go out the limb on this one and say that there is clear negligence. Thus far, however, Camejo only has an autopsy certificate and scar to show for his ordeal. A unique keepsake for a living coroner subject to be sure, but hardly compensation.

My biggest nightmare used to be being buried alive (or being buried alive with Billy Mays trying to pitch me a product).
But now the nightmare has transmogrified into being ‘autopsied alive’?

“Good thing he wasn’t Muslim. No autopsy and they’d have tried to bury him right away. Edgar Allen Poe nightmare.”
now I know why I am not a Muslim.
But maybe they give you a cell phone or have a little bell above ground with a wire to your finger tip just in case.

I understand he was also declared (by officials at the scene) a space alien, Amelia Earhart, and D.B. Cooper.
In the picture in the linked article the victim does not look happy. I could see this happening in a situation where it was a cold water ‘drowning’ but an auto accident? No way.

I doubt he will protest too much in Chavez’s country.
I’d have to say “get me the hell outta here” OMG. Its a miracle.
