A Randy Moment: Congressman Admits Screaming “Baby Killer” on House Floor

The heckler who screamed “Baby Killer” at Rep. Bart Stupak (D., MI) during the health care debate has been uncovered. It was not, as widely assumed, a person in the public gallery. Rather it was Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R., TX) who has fessed up to the infraction, here. After Joe Wilson (R., SC) screamed “you lie” at the President during the State of the Union and Justice Sam Alito saying “not true” and shaking his head at the State of the Union (here), Republicans appear to have growing distemper in their ranks.

Such outbursts are common in other legislative bodies from the Parliament to the Knesset, but are violations of the rules of the House. Nevertheless, Wilson is now running on his outburst in his campaign, here, and has become one of the most sought after speakers in the House.

Neugebauer of Lubbock is a banker from Lubbock and insists that “I’m just trying to represent the people of the 19th Congressional District. The intensity of the American people was represented in my intensity last night. … I still believe that that Senate bill is a baby-killing bill.”

Here is his statement:

Last night was the climax of weeks and months of debate on a health care bill that my constituents fear and do not support. In the heat and emotion of the debate, I exclaimed the phrase ‘it’s a baby killer’ in reference to the agreement reached by the Democratic leadership. While I remain heartbroken over the passage of this bill and the tragic consequences it will have for the unborn, I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself.

  1. Do we have some new trolls here tonight? AY, present company excepted, why do a lot of these braniacs seem to come from Texas?? This guy needs some of the good Benedictine Nuns that I had in grade school to teach this miscreant how adults act.

  2. First – of course he lies. He’s a politician brought up in the K St. graft for votes system.

    Pre-qualification for becoming a politician.

Can you lie and how good are you at it.

  3. “Lady” Liberty,

First – of course he lies. He’s a politician brought up in the K St. graft for votes system.

Second – SCOTUS was classless and unconstitutional enough to APPOINT a President. Namely, Bush the Incurious Fascist Oil Goon. Checks and balances means that each branch holds the others accountable – when it isn’t broken by graft. Nice mock “black face” language there too, ya racist.

Third – Do your homework. People on this site are appalled by bad behavior REGARDLESS OF THE COLOR OF THE BAD ACTOR.

You know. Accountability. That thing Republican tools like yourself want to avoid all together.

You may be something. But you’re no lady.

  4. Buddha,

I didn’t take it as a barb at teachers. My point was that a number of subjects/topics–like Civics–are being dropped from school curricula because there aren’t any/many questions about them on standardized tests. Education is all about the tests today. Sometimes the entire staffs of schools are fired or made to reapply for their jobs because their students didn’t score well enough on the mandated tests.

There are still many wonderful parents who read to their children and teach them the alphabet, numbers, colors, nursery rhymes, etc.–and appropriate behavior. They make sure their children are home on school nights and that they do their homework. Unfortunately, there are also many parents who think the public schools and their teachers should bear the entire responsibility for educating their children.

  5. What else is to be expected?
First, Obama has and does lie. Five days to look over the bill on his desk? No new middle class taxes? I’m taking the deficit seriously? The health bil is good for small business? All whoppers.
Second, Obama is classless enough to insult the court (while also managing to lie)–would we prefer the representatives of the judicial branch just sit there like stones while the president insults them and his congressional minions hoop and holler behind is head. (“Yassar Mistuh Ahbama”)
Third, the bill does allow for abortions being paid for with public funds. While killing an innocent baby may not bother you progressives, some educated people actually DO have a problem with it.
Also, you wanna get on Republicans about their behavior? Where’s the outrage when a bunch of blacks youths in Philadelphia terrorize Center City businesses and attack white people as a mob? Or when 6 black kids in Jena brutally beat a white student (even kicking him in the head when he was already knocked out). Such double standards of civility, you liberals.
