Church Bars Father From Taking Daughter to Easter Mass

We previously followed the dispute between Joseph Reyes and his ex-wife over the religious upbringing of their daughter, here. The judge in the case has now barred Joseph Reyes from bringing his daughter to Easter mass in a ruling that raises some troubling questions under the first amendment and parental rights.

Without question, Reyes has been begging for sanctions, particularly after he baptized his daughter without the mother’s consent. The mother is raising the 3-year-old girl in the Jewish faith with the support of the Court.

Barring the daughter from attending church with her father is problematic since she can be raised in the Jewish faith but the father can still expose her to his religion. It will be interesting if Reyes challenges this order. His past conduct, however, may cloud the appeal. Absent his past alleged violation of the court order, this would be a promising challenge.

  1. IT IS JUST TOO BAD SO MANY PEOPLE USE RELIGION TO GET WHAT THEY WANT OR USE IT AS AN EXCUSE AND 95 % OF THE TIME. THEY DON’T EVEN GO TO CHURCH OR CARE LESS

SUCH LIES IN THE NAME OF GOD WILL BACK FIRE SOME DAY ON THEM

  2. “Church Bars Father From Taking Daughter to Easter Mass.” Is Church the name of the judge? There seems to be no evidence that any church has banned anything in this case. I believe the judge upheld an injunction filed by the mother until a final ruling.
Please have someone edit these headlines for factual accuracy.

  3. Eniobob,
That is an amazing story about the voter machine rigging in KY. I am not surprised that it has not gotten much play in the mass media. I am surprised that the convicted felon Republicans didn’t claim that Acorn did it!

  4. eniobob,

Thank you for the link re Clay County, KY Election Officials

I think it was Byron who asked why they (and they were republicans) would run this scheme in a heavily republican district and I believe, from what I’ve read, that it was a money making scheme.

The articles written by the local reporter are fascinating.

  5. Maybe a chance for even Prison Wives? Or do you think that they will become the wife?

When Mike Tyson was put in his cell he asked his new cell mate, you wanna be da husband or yous wanna be da wife. The cell mate said, well seeing how I’m already married I guess I’ll be the husband. Mike said good, now get over here and suck your wife’s dick.

  6. I suppose that they will get this Club Fed that so many Republicans think is too good for a convict. Hmm, I wonder if they can still run the racket as well behind bars.

Do you thin that since Palin has gotten a series that these people will too? Maybe a chance for even Prison Wives? Or do you think that they will become the wife?

  7. So you are saying that they rigged even the voting in prison. Isn’t a Trustee an elected position in Prison as well?

  8. A convict while incarcerated can not be trusted, where as a republican convict is very trustworthy. Thats why they end up being a trustee while they are serving out their sentence. I hope this helps 🙂
