In what could be a female version of the Matthew Shepard case, three high school girls from Kentucky are accused of beating a friend and trying to throw her off a cliff because she is a lesbian. Corinne Schwab and Ashley Sams, both 18, and an unnamed 17-year-old girl have been arrested in the case.
The girls have been friends for years, but that did not allegedly stop them from lying to the victim about taking her to a job interview and then trying to throw her off Flat Lick Falls. The victim was reportedly able to record the attack on her cellphone and escaped by grabbing a nearby stick. They girls then allegedly caught up with her and forced her back in the car. She was let go after promising not to tell anyone.
UPDATE: Police are not saying that they do not see evidence of a hate crime, here.
The teens reportedly insisted it was just a prank but state police believed otherwise and have charged Schwab and Sams with kidnapping and criminal attempt to commit murder.
The alleged attacked occurred on a National Day of Silence for those who are gay.

Tom D. Arch:
“Flat Lick Falls, eh? I guess the drive up to Big Bone Lick State Park* was too far.”
I am glad you clarified that statement, but thank you for the laugh.
Gyges:
I can do it one sentence. But Mr. Turley or whoever wrote the article started it by implication. So, I’m just keeping up with things.
It’s leftists/libs/progressives who wish to wring their hands about fictional hate crimes and talk about homosexuals being tortured and murdered for being homosexuals when they are not.
If the conservatives were wringing their hands and falsely reporting about that which is not happening, I’d have mentioned it.
And thanks for stopping by!
Buddha,
I should specify, that’s for the first post on a topic, not on a reply.
I’ll take some of that under action.
We aught to take an over\under on how many sentences it takes Tootie to turn from any topic they choose to comment on to a rant on the evils of liberalism. Let’s set it at 4. For his next comment, my bet is under.
Cain slew Able and thus has it ever been.
I’m surprised that the lead-in to the post says this is like the Matthew Shepard case. I thought everyone knew by now that the Matthew Shepard case wasn’t about homosexuality or opposition to it.
Of course, the mainstream media lied to the public about it to hype the hysteria, so I guess if you swallow their garbage, you might make the mistake.
Even the prosecutor said it wasn’t about sexuality or hate.
This business about “hate” is silly because by democrats/leftists/liberals/progressives own warped standards about hate (they think only they have the definition of what it is and what it means) leftists hate better than anyone. According to their own standard, they hate Bush, Palin, Cheney, Christians, and anyone else who doesn’t bow to them.
Hate can be good.
It is good to hate Nazism. Or pedophilia. You can murder without hate. In fact, people murder those they love passionately when those they love spurn them.
Hate is something that has to be self-admitted or else we can never be sure it it is hate. It could be anger. It could be viciousness (which can be exhibited WITHOUT hate). It could be a brain tumor. If a person says they hate so and so, it is only then that we can be sure they hate them.
One can hate a person and never harm them, and so hate can be benign.
It is stupid, this modern leftist hysteria about hate because the leftist is, then, by their own definition hate-filled maniacs.
This is a form of tyranny over the mind meant to silence opinions one does not like to hear.
I hate that.

I am not sure that some teenage boys are not just as cruel.
I’ve said it before and will say it again….there is no one more cruel than a teenaged girl
Flat Lick Falls, eh? I guess the drive up to Big Bone Lick State Park* was too far.
(* Actually, Big Bone Lick is the birthplace of archeology in North America. The “Big Bones” in question were woolly mammoth and similar prehistoric bones that were exposed by erosion. As these were bones from animals that weren’t alive today, and weren’t mentioned in the bible, they caused a great deal of head scratching in the late 18th century. A few people used this tangible evidence to figure out that the earth might be more than 6,000 years old. Ironically the “Creation Museum” is just a few miles away…)
“The victim was reportedly able to record the attack on her cellphone and escaped by grabbing a nearby stick. The(y) girls then allegedly caught up with her and forced her back in the car. She was let go after promising not to tell anyone.”
Hmmmm … sounds like one lesbian was a whole lot smarter than three heterosexuals combined.
It will be interesting to see what the background of the three suspects is … parental influence, church influence, any relation to the McCoys ……
VLF,
“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for
authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place
of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their
households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They
contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties
at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”
-Plato
Is it really that incidents have increased, or is it that they’re getting wider discussion?
Gyges:
Having an 18 year-old high school senior, and based on the stories she relays to me, as well as what I see in the media, I must say, kids today are much, much crueler than back in the day. Not saying that kids weren’t cruel back then, but it seems to me that today’s kids are infinitely more selfish, and down-right cruel and nasty little bastards.
I agree – at least kids are experiencing the consequences of their actions, as they should be.
Bad humor……
Because she lived, it is safe to presume that they did not all get their licks in….
Vlf,
Nothing that hasn’t been wrong with every some of every generation’s kids. At least the legal system is holding these accountable.
What is wrong with today’s kids?? Seriously!
You have something to say to me,son? Why is everything that is wrong conceivably blamed on me? Oh, I got it I was President. Son, will you Run for President. I did not ever know how much real power the Vice President has. This time I will make a difference. Time to scoot.
This is too much.
A National Day of Silence for those who are gay…
Up next: a national week without breathing for those who have cancer…
Who comes up with this stuff, Dubya?
“three high school girls from Kentucky are accused of beating a friend and trying to throw her off a cliff because she is a lesbian”
Wow, with friends like these. Hey, maybe Wall Street or Congress has an opening….
