Iranian Senior Cleric Calls Holocaust a “Superstition”

Senior Iranian cleric, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, has denounced the Holocaust of Jews as nothing more than a “superstition” of the West. The cleric insists “[t]he Holocaust is nothing but superstition, but Zionists say that people of the world should be forced to accept this.”

Shirazi is a “marja,” one the highest authorities in Shiite Islam. He is also obviously a perfect lunatic. He added “Americans and Westerners are affected by newly appeared superstitions such as the Holocaust . . . The truth about the Holocaust is not clear, and when the researchers want to examine whether it is true or the Jews have created it to pose as victims, they jail the researchers.”

  1. Blouise,

I think the biggest insight I ever received into Jonolan’s character was when he called for the re-institution of the Alien and Sedition Acts.

  2. Mike Appleton,

I understand, but bigotry that calls for the annihilation of an entire religious population is not something I ignore.

    Blouise,

You mean the same we wanted to annihilate Hitler and his Nazis and Imperial Japan? Sometimes you have to cut out a cancer in order to save the body.

And note how individuals stripped the American Germans and Japanese of their humanity as the society was upended by the violence and fear. FDR put American Japanese in camps and German shops were looted and their owners beaten in the streets. Yep, if one is not careful one can easily lose oneself in the inhumanity that fear calls forth in each of us. But don’t excuse it … it’s an individual choice right down the line.

One can fight an enemy and win without considering him subhuman. In fact, the aftermath of victory is much easier if the creation of a subhuman mindset was never part of the fight.

Good parenting and a solid education go a long way in preparing one for challenges such as these.

  4. After reading this thread it is apparent that Jonolan is merely a bigot, which means that attempting to engage him in any rational discussion of Islam is a useless exercise. Ignorance can be alleviated through education. Bigotry, being a species of fear, does not respond to reason.

  5. If I tune to the station, record it and then play it backwards will I hear satanic voices? I want to know.

  10. SWM,

Honestly, you’re probably better informed than me. I’m running around trying to get everything ready for my meat gathering trip next week.

We don’t have a lot to offer, but if your son ends up needing food, we’ve got some venison to share, and I’ve got some clothing I’ve “outgrown.” Buddha can get you my e-mail if you need to set it up.

  11. I was listening to oh my god…..NPR in Texas again…some author stated that the Jihad stated in Egypt and eventually moved to a wealthy Saudi that was basically living in squalor who impressed a number of folks that wanted to be just like him and were willing to die for the cause. Obama Bin Laden……was the name that came up.

  12. Gyges How is the fire situation in Boulder? My son said he might get evacuated today.

  13. Jonolan,

So, how exactly does the civilized world measure how human something is? I always figured it had to do with genetic material.

  14. Let me give this a try, jonolan:

You believe that all Muslims, based on the actions of a minority of Muslims, are terrorists, unworthy of life.

The same could be said for the minority of Christians who are nothing more than American Taliban. For example – those who kill and maim abortion providers, and those who seek to make our republic a theocracy.

I can very easily say, based on your “logic”, that all Christians, based on the actions of a minority of Christians, are terrorists, unworthy of life. But, that would get some knickers in a twist, wouldn’t it …

    Blouise,

An interesting, if false analogy. It says a lot about you that you equate a the practitioners of a pernicious, violent, and vile behavior set, Islam, with the Native Americans. Is it perhaps because neither group was White so you automatically see them as victims?

What?! That’s what you got from the reading?! Wow! The subject was you, darlin’ … just you.

The analogy concerned what individual persons will do to other people when fear rules their minds. YOU want to annihilate Muslims like some individual Pilgrims wanted to annihilate the Wampanoag, Nipmuck, Narragansett, Mohegan, Pequot (known collectively as those “heathen malefactors”) and Hitler who wanted to annihilate the Jews.

For the purpose of the analogy, the only similarity between all three groups was/is their status as human beings and the fact that individuals (yourself, Hitler, and the Pilgrim leader named Josiah Winslow) could self-justify annihilating them by reducing them to subhuman status.

Islam is not the enemy … you are.

    rcampbell,

One point of statement I agree with. I do not speak for you.
