Oscar-nominee Randy Quaid, 60, and his wife Evi, 47, have appeared in Canada with a novel claim for refugee protection — claiming that someone is killing off Quaid’s friends and that the couple needs protection from “Hollywood star-whackers.” Evi has a much better sense of taking a good mugshot.
They are to be released from custody on $10,000 bail each pending resolution of their refugee protection in Canada during an immigration hearing on Friday.
They were arrested in Vancouver on immigration violations and said that they fear for their lives after nine close friends of Quaid have recently been “murdered” including actors David Carradine, Heath Ledger and Chris Penn. Carradine was found hanging by a rope in a hotel room in Thailand in a possible accident during a sexual act. Ledger overdosed on a mix of prescription medications in 2008 and Penn died of heart disease in 2006.
That is not the type of stuff that usually makes for an asylum claim. On the other hand, this may be an effort to avoid a criminal charge or immediate deportations — allowing the country to deny the asylum request after a hearing and to deport at a later date. As asylum claimants, they can remain in the country pending resolution of the claims. What is clear is that these claims make for a better movie script than an asylum claim.

Even though you can feel euphoric when taking meth, the down side is the creation of enemies that are trying to get you. I am guessing that Randy and his wife have had too many toxic concoctions. A good detox might bring him back to his senses.
It is sad to see a genuinely funny man become so introverted and afraid.. his paranoia is a sad commentary on his life. I hope they find help.
I’m looking at Randy Quaid as I write this. He’s on the Encore Western Channel in “The Long Riders”. A really brilliant idea to cast three sets of real brothers to play the James, Younger, and Ford brothers- and a terrific movie, too. Too bad Randy seems to have gotten a bit off center. I may seek asylum in Canada myself after November 2nd.
There was more to the story Blouise but it involved some graphics and not sure how they would cut and paste….but that part was wierd…needless to say…I wonder how much money went into that study…
Yes, Bdaman…I appreciate the thought…members of my family were jewish…but then again..where did Jesus ever denounce Judaism… I don’t think it was until the 3rd Century that the coberts changed the status…..hmm….seems like the original christian who base the law of Jesus are really jewish…but thats just my logic….are you one too?
If Texas stays in the Rankings they will move to 25…if not they will be out until at least week 10…after the position shuffle with OK going from No 1, that has been a hot seat ask Sabin….from No. 1 to where in the rankings…TCU not beaten MSU all of the hard games out of the way….still ranked 7….come on…TCU should at least be 3….MSU should at least be 4 or 5…maybe at 12pm Sunday we will know…
