Packers Beat Bears Bears Decide Not To Go To Dallas

That is the best I do right now. It is hard for me to express my feelings at this time of utter darkness and despair.

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes…again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need…of some…stranger’s hand
In a…desperate land

I will get through this . . .

Denial: The Packers could not have won. We are still in the running.

Anger: Why us? How could this happen to Chicago?

Bargaining: Just let us play five more minutes and we will never make another cheesehead joke.

Depression: Why go on if the Packers go to Dallas?

Acceptance: It’s going to be okay. After all, they still have to go back and live in Green Bay.

  1. JT:

Now really did you think the Bears could pull this off? Green Bay came in as the hotest team in the league. The Bears … well … they’re just inconsistent, and now they want to heap all the blame on a guy who was pulled from the game by the trainers. Come on. I knew the Bears were done when the pulled that pre-game dance-a-thon.

Take solace in the fact that GB will have to go to Dallas and take on my Steelers who just crushed the other “hottest team in the league” — the Jets. It will like be a Steeler home game.

Bears’ fans can now join the rest of America–not in Wisconsin– and root for the Steelers who are 6-1 in Super Bowls.

    No brag — just fact.

  2. I warned you Bears fans about your hubris. Warned you and warned you and warned you. But you wouldn’t listen to me. Now, your mouths are filled with the bitter taste of crow — and defeat.

But that’s OK. You’re still the NFC NORTH champs.

Shine up those wide screens, Bears faithful, and root for the class of the NFC.

  3. Rafflaw Grew up watching Illinois high school basketball state championships.

  4. WELL WE DO KNOW WHAT YOU CALL 106 MEN WATCHING THE SUPERBOWL,AND THEY ALSO REENFORCED THE DAM AT THE CRY ME A RIVER.NOW LETS SHOW SOME LOVE FOR OUR PAIN.BTW,I KNOW ITS IN CAPS.

  5. Elaine and SwM,

Oldest daughter ran track … youngest played basketball and soccer … state championship team.

Youngest went off to university on academic scholarship and joined the girls’s rugby team. Beautiful, little wisp of a girl ..prom court etc … played three games until I went to see the fourth game. Absolutely no difference in rules whether it be men’s or women’s rugby. She came limping off the field with a huge smile, a bloody nose, and a broken finger supporting her teammate who had been “clotheslined” and had a dislocated shoulder. I was horrified and put my foot down (not something I’m particularly known for with my kids or grandkids)… no more rugby! In her bloodied, broken, mud-covered state she argued but I was unmoved and rugby became a thing of the past … she still proudly wears her team sweatshirt that has a large red cross on the front and back with the words “Give Blood … Play Rugby”.

  6. Blouise,
    don’t rub it in!!
Swarthmore Mom, I am with you. Basketball is my favorite, college especially. After that give me a good White Sox game and I am in heaven.

  7. Sorry, don’t have time to join in the discussion … too busy counting my winnings.

  8. Elaine: My son also ran cross country and did track. Daughter gave up sports because of debate schedule her junior year. I really liked the track meets. I miss those days.

  9. Buddha,

My daughter had quite a foot. She broke a couple of lights in the indoor soccer facility when balls she kicked hit the ceiling. She was a brute force on her college soccer team too. She usually played defense.

    *****

    Swarthmore mom,

My daughter also did track–high jump, long jump, sprints, discus. I spent many hours watching my daughter compete in sporting events–and enjoyed every minute of it.

  10. Elaine, Both of my kids played soccer. I guess we were soccer moms. I like the game, but basketball is my favorite. Nowitzki is back and maybe the Dallas Mavericks can start winning again. Texas Longhorns beat Kansas yesterday.

  11. Elaine,

I can’t argue about the skill and endurance aspects of the game. It truly takes both. However, there is something about the outdoor varieties pacing that turns me off. Plus playing off the wall makes for some exciting tangles and turnovers. I’m probably biased because my first exposure to soccer in any serious way was going to watch a bunch of friends play indoor during college.

  12. Buddha,

My daughter played soccer for many years. She captained her high school team that made it to the state finals in 1997. She also played on a club team that made it to the quarterfinals in their division at the Dana Cup in Denmark.

BTW, she played both indoor and outdoor soccer.

After participating in a mother daughter soccer game, I gained an appreciation for the skill and endurance it takes to play the sport.

  13. Elaine,

    lol

That’s a lil’ too outside the box even for me. I kinda like watching indoor soccer. It’s fast and exciting, but watching outdoor soccer to me is a lot like watching golf or paint dry.

Maybe I should make the leap to Roller Derby? 🙂

Or get a frontal lobotomy and adopt a Cricket team!

No. No. Roller Derby would be better than Cricket. Better eye candy and none of that nasty drooling that goes with a lobotomy.

  14. AY,

But my problem is this: which team to adopt?

I can’t go over to the Dark Side and adopt the Yankees, the Mets, the Rangers or the Astros.

I can’t adopt the Cubs or either of my choices in Sox’s colors (Red or White) simply because I’m not enough of a masochist.

I’m kinda leaning toward the Rockies, the Cardinals or the Giants although as much as I like Albert Pujols, there is something almost genetic holding me back from the Cards.

  15. I stand corrected….its the other team….the Royals are onwed by Glass former CEO of Walmart….nuff reason to skip out….

  16. AY,

That penny pinching union buster and Wal-Mart weasel David Glass took over after Kauffman died. He’s a large part of why they can’t pay any of the considerable talent they’ve developed during his tenure. He tries to run it like Wal-Mart and it shows. I loved Ewing Kauffman. He was a great owner and a KC tradition. David Glass, however, simply sucks.
