Throwing a Curveball: The Source Used To Justify Iraq War Admits He Made The Whole Thing Up

Curveball has finally admitted that he made the entire thing up. If you recall, we went to war in Iraq based on the claim that Saddam Hussein had developed biological weapons. That account was based on the statements of Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, who our foreign allies warned was unreliable and clearly lying. However, President Bush and his aides were set upon invading Iraqi and relied on Curveball before the United Nations. He has now come out publicly to admit he fabricated the entire thing and could not believe the Americans relied upon his stories to launch a major war.

The interview was published on the eighth anniversary of Colin Powell’s speech to the United Nations

He says that foreign intelligence officials were so keen on confirming biological weapons that they gave him a copy of Perry’s Chemical Engineering Handbook to help communicate. He still has the book, which he used to fabricate the stories. However, he admitted to making up the stories in mid-2000.

Of course, President Obama has continued to expend treasure and lives in Iraq in the ultimate example of the economic theory of “path dependence.” We continue to fight a war based on a fabricated story because our leaders cannot risk the political repercussions to pulling out from that country. There is also no known punishment for the officials, including high-ranking CIA and Administration officials, who perpetuated this lie. At best this was an act of willful blindness and at worst knowing falsification to justify going to war.

Our intelligence officials appear to continue to accept a good fabricated story over bad facts. Recently, they paid an enormous amount of money to an imposter who pretended to be the head of Taliban in Afghanistan, here. American officials even flew the imposter to meet with Karzai before finding out that he was lying.

  1. Stam:

You are stupid and that is why you think the “pedophilia, incest, rape” in the Bible is equivalent to the Koran being riddled with the same thing. So don’t blame the Bible for your stupidity.

Though for the life of me I do not recall a case of “pedophilia” in Bible as might be suggested with Mohammad through the Hadith. Only you must know about that.

The Bible opposes incest, pedophilia, and rape. And guess where all that stuff occurred you are referring to in the Bible? You guessed it(amazing!): in the Middle East where Mohammad and company laid their foundation.

It seems that ground zero for the sexual corruption of the human race is Mesopotamia.

God could not, apparently, stomp these things out of the nature of mankind without destroying the human race altogether (otherwise he would have done it). He made several attempts even going so far as to whittling the human race down to 8 people.

    It didn’t work.

And now we are stuck with the sexual corruption of the human race. It was next to impossible to stop the Jews from these practices, let alone everyone else, and from what I see of history and what I see around me, it continue on.

Thus it appears as innate as murder and theft.

The New Testament teaches against it. A man is to have one wife, preferably for life. He is not to have a mistress or a concubine. And all references to the wife are as a woman, not a child, and certainly not a nine year old. And all references to a husband is as a man. Man and woman. Never man and child, or even child and child.

And the only references (age-wise) in scripture to suggest maturity is age 20: the age a young Israelite would join the military. It is ridiculous to think a nine year old would be considered, in the old or new testaments, as being of age for marriage. And if such a thing occurred in the past, it would not occur in line with scripture.

So you just making up junk as usual. I must admit, you are very diligent about it. In an almost stalking sort of way. You must not have much of a life. To each his own.

Islam, among all the “religions” of the world is the only one which sanctifies these things and since you are so stupid and ignorant about the Bible says, you automatically think just because these things are mentioned (for the historical record) it means they are approved of.

This would be like saying because a cop talks about crime, he is promoting it.

Though, nowadays, it might seem true, it is not the truth.

  2. Tootie, your god appears to be on vacation. If such a being you adore permits what we see, the words I have for this abomination cannot be repeated here. That you willingly go along with this tacit cruelty while you accuse others of the exact same fantasy-based extremism speaks to a state of mind that cannot be helped in this forum. To then try to insist it’s a “partisan problem” speaks to how little you believe what you say.

    So why should anyone else?

  3. Tootie,

“Of course you are not bothered that nearly one quarter of all the nations of the world are made up of people who love and adore an old dead guy who had sex with a child…”

I still have no idea why you keep bringing up Poe.

  4. Taliban Tootie:

I bow to your unbiased and objective knowledge of Islam and will ignore the scholars of Islam who pretend to know more than you do about Islam.

The bible is riddled with pedophilia, incest, rape and other choice actions but, since its the bible, we can ignore it because it is pedophilia, incest and rape based on the word of your god. Got it.

    “Taliban Stam”

Nice try, Taliban. But I’m an athiest so that doesn’t bother me one iota.

  5. Stam:

Of course you are not bothered that nearly one quarter of all the nations of the world are made up of people who love and adore an old dead guy who had sex with a child (he 54 and she 9), and sold, traded, and raped his slaves until the day he died? And that his conduct and that conduct committed by any Muslim today is still considered holy and virtuous?

Right up you alley, eh, Taliban Stam?

  6. By both sides I mean Dems and Reps. And by blood on their hands I mean Clinton and Albright and the 500,000 Iraqi children starved to death.

This is why Bush will not be held accountable.

And then there is Lyndon Johnson and 30,000 plus Americans dead before Nixon took the White House. And all the innocent dead in South East Asia.

All of this is because of violations of the Constitution and the willingness of both sides to do it.

It must stop and the only American in either party talking consistently against violating the Constitution (including in war making) is Ron Paul.

Yes, I know that Kucinich wanted to stop Iraqi sanctions under Clinton, and stop the bombings in Serbia. This is to his credit. In most other things he tramples the Constitution. And that is a habit which engenders in others a habit for doing it in military matters.

  7. Taliban Tootie:

“Nonetheless, Islam is committed to taking over the whole world. But that just requires a careful watching. Only freedom of the internet can stop Islam.”

    BOO!

  8. They won’t be held accountable precisely because both sides have blood on their hands. And we don’t want others attacking us because of what they did because we would have to respond with bombs and they know it.

This is why I love my God. He will get Bush, Hilter, Stalin, Abraham Lincoln, and all others who commit mass murder and get away with it.

Obama has already gone down the road too far.

Nonetheless, Islam is committed to taking over the whole world. But that just requires a careful watching. Only freedom of the internet can stop Islam.

  9. BIL:

“I can tell you my exact reaction when I found out Bush invaded Iraq.

“Invaded who? They didn’t attack us. This is going to end badly for everybody.””

I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head when I heard the news.

    James:

“Stamford Liberal, the gig was up when the SCOTUS appointed W. The landslide began in earnest shortly thereafter.”

Exactly. In fact, didn’t the Cowboy state in his own book written years before that if given the chance to show up Poppy he would take down Saddam? And who was the first person he pointed his finger at on 9/11 …

    —————————————————————-

    Blouise

    “oooh … smack down!”

    Lol

  10. “Stamford Liberal, the gig was up when the SCOTUS appointed W. The landslide began in earnest shortly thereafter.” (James in LA)

    Straight-forward, unvarnished truth!

Five, looney-tune lawyers have nearly destroyed this nation

  11. Jill, Most of the democrats in Texas are minorities that support Obama. I was against the war from the beginning. I am not so much pro-Obama as I am anti-republican. I think Blouise gave some wise advice about looking at 2016 and working on local races in the meantime.

  12. No big news … everybody with a brain knew it was a lie … in the contest between Bush and those who had a brain, those with a brain blinked

  13. Swathmore mom, they are mostly academics and theater folks, which is why I grow alarmed when even THEIR rhetoric turns revolutionary. It has never been so in the past. I even hear gun-talk where I never did before.

Stamford Liberal, the gig was up when the SCOTUS appointed W. The landslide began in earnest shortly thereafter. There has been speculation that two maps were on the table at Cheney’s “energy task force” meeting, one of Iraq, t’other of Saudi Arabia, with dotted lines not unlike those on a side of beef. The plans had been in the works for a long time before that, probably beginning about the time Gerald Ford thought it would be a fine idea to pardon Nixon, telling Rummy and Dicky and Wolfie what the consequences would actually be: zippidy-doo-dah.

What is so appalling is the grave dishonor that hangs over anyone in uniform, their service predicated on lie after lie after lie. There can be no honor in that, however dutiful one serves.

All the while, Our Host laid out the case, calmly, without dragon fire, but damning in its certainty….and no one heard.

Prof., we took a vote, and we’re installing a Red Phone between your office and Holder’s! We’ll even pay someone to do the nagging!

  14. S.M.,

I wish the liberals in TX would quit putting their support behind drone toting war criminals!
