India Health Minister Denounces Homosexuality as “Unnatural Disease” At AIDS Conference

Indian Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad shocked the world community at an AIDS conference by describing homosexuality as an “unnatural disease” spreading around the world at an alarming rate. In the world’s least surprising revelation, Azad informed the crowd “There is a substantial number of men having sex with men in our country.”

Azad told the crowd that “[t]he issue to worry about is that this disease of men having sex with men has unfortunately arrived in India, too. This is completely unnatural and shouldn’t happen, but is there.” What was even more alarming was his observation that “it’s difficult to track who’s doing it and where.” That sounds like he is more interested in a law enforcement and health response to the “problem.”

In 2009, the Indian courts decriminalized homosexuality.

  4. SwM,

Yep, Tex had to get back for a round of doctor visits. We wanted to stay later but he’s doing so well we don’t want to take a chance with the progress. Are you still in Chicago?

  5. Blouise went somewhere? Where, she has not been here…but there…instead of here…but then when she is here…its not as good as beer….

  8. Welcome back slacker…..Been watching too much Caddy Shack?

  9. The Indian Health Minister is the one with the disease and he probably caught it from any number of politicians inside and outside of his ow country. It’s called inhumanity and there is no known cure.

  10. “Indian Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad shocked the world community at an AIDS conference by describing homosexuality as an ‘unnatural disease’ spreading around the world at an alarming rate.”

At what point to these imbeciles realize that at some point what they deem a “disease” is simply an aspect of humanity? Let’s see, how long has the written word in histories and stories existed and evidence of homosexuality has been RIGHT THERE for all to see? And there, and there…and oh yeah–THERE!

    [cradles brain in her hand]

  11. Azad is making connections at odds with the facts much like many anti-gay politicians here do.

From linked article. “Unprotected sex between heterosexuals is responsible for 87 percent of all new cases transmitted, according to India’s National AIDS Control Program.”

  12. “Azad informed the crowd “There is a substantial number of men having sex with men in our country.”

In India, as in all human communities there always was and always will be. Those unable to recognize that as fact are ignorant fools.

  13. AY,

You’ve been reading that Bush book and you still have to ask that question?

  14. Say what? I just saw this am…well…how stupid do you really have to be to be in power…..
