We have previously discussed how history is being forgotten in the United States, England, and other countries. We can now add Germany to the list. While one would hope that there are certain historical facts that are indelible, one in five young Germans has no idea that Auschwitz was a Nazi death camp.
The good news is that 90 percent of Germans recognized the name but the shocker came with the polling of the 21 percent of 18-29 year olds.
Moreover, nearly a third of the 1,002 people questioned did not know that Auschwitz was in today’s Poland.
The anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by Soviet troops is on January 27, 1945.

I haven’t watched Leno since the third or fourth airing of that segment.
For the uninformed…ie…I do not watch Leno or Letterman… Why is that?
I remember the good ol’ days, when I actually laughed out loud during Jay Leno’s “Jay Walking” segments.
Somehow, they seem a lot less funny now.
True about Camp Douglas. It had a higher death rate and worse conditions than Andersonville and although Andersonville had a higher total death toll, they processed about five or six times the number of total prisoners through out the war than Camp Douglas. Cruelty and abuse know no allegiance to either flag in the American Civil War.
Why hasn’t the American Legion and VFW demanded that O-Reilly be taken off the air for this outright lie and refusal to admit error?
The hits just keep on coming when O’Reilly is involved. Great clip!
bill o’reilly got malmedy wrong twice. both times with gen. Wesley Clark.
the relevant part starts at 2:00
Good memory OS. Bill-O really put his foot in his mouth with that one.
Let’s not forget the time Bill O’Reilly blamed American troops for the massacre at Malmedy.
It’s not just schoolchildren who are ignorant.
