Rick Bartlett, pastor of the Bastrop Christian Church in Texas, has been arrested for allegedly throwing a neighbor’s cat, Moody, off a bridge after caging and abandoning the cat for days in his truck.
Bastrop Police Chief Michael Black says that Bartlett admitted that he caught the cat, named Moody, when he was trying to get rid of cats. He left Moody in the back of his truck for three days because he allegedly “forgot” it. He then brought it to the police who noted that the claimed “feral” cat had a name tag including the phone number of Moody’s owners, Sarah and Eddy Bell, on its collar. The officer said Bartlett promised to return the cat to the owners, but it was found later that day on the bank of the Colorado River below a bridge. It turns out that the same animal control officer called to the scene happened to be the one who had assisted Bartlett earlier that day and recognized the cat.
Sarah Bell says that the crime has destroyed her daughter’s faith after learning the preacher allegedly committed the crime. When Bell told her that Moody was in heaven now, her daughter responded “I don’t believe in Heaven anymore, Moody’s just dead.”
Bartlett faces a charge of animal cruelty which could result in a $4,000 fine and a year’s imprisonment.

Caged, starved, threw cat off bridge, wait a minute, wait a minute —
I think the cat-owner’s daughter got it right this time and I also think the job of interpreting God’s plan should never be left to people like Reverend Rick Bartlett or George Michael Zimmerman. Revoke their gods!

Pastor & a volunteer police chaplain, Rick Bartlett of Bastrop, TX, entrapped, starved, tortured and threw Moody the Cat over a 50-foot bridge called HWY 150 Bridge. The cat had an ID collar belonging to his neighbors three doors down on Rick’s residential street. There has been no trial date set and this dastardly crime took place on 1/17/2012 at 4:30 PM.
Yet Rick Bartlett has been allowed to start up a new church called Riverside Christian Church on 609 Jessica Place, Bastrop, TX just a few blocks from his own home after he was let go from Bastrop Christian Church. His new Riverside Christian Church begins every Sunday at 10:00 AM. Here is the clincher; the Bartlett’s own a dog named “Toot” How would they like it if someone pulled the same stunt on their beloved dog? Tina Bartlett, his wife went right along with the heinous crime to Moody the Cat being thrown over HWY Bridge 150. She knew all about it and did nothing to stop it.

In answer to Pete’s question, Rick Bartlett is 56 years old. He is old enough to know better and yes, this is more like an act of a teenage boy going through puberty, not a middle-aged man like Rick Bartlett. It does make one wonder how many other pets he has pulled this stunt on. January 17, 2013, will be the one year anniversary of the passing of Moody. My heart goes out to Moody’s family and what that defenseless cat went through his last three torturous days at the hands of Pastor Rick Bartlett. The weather during those three days got as low as 21.9 degrees and Moody was outside in the back of a pick-up truck. May the justice system hand Rick a long term or life sentence behind bars with maximum fees. All animal lovers in Texas and the surrounding states should see to it that Rick Bartlett and his wife, Tina Bartlett, get the same neglectful treatment they gave to Moody. The only time we want to see anything more about Pastor Rick Bartlett is by viewing his photo on the back of a milk carton.
