Happy Independence Day!!!

Happy Birthday America. Once again, we gather to celebrate tossing out that preening, prancing Hanover prig George III.

With our electricity back, all is right again with the world and we are ready to do our annual fireworks display at the end of the block.

If the rain does not wash us out, we will be grilling up a story tonight and toasting to the demise of King Georgie.

I truly love this holiday. The fireworks, the patriotic themes, and the sense of unity that it brings.

Happy Fourth Everyone!

  1. Lai Y. is a Laotian refugee who was befriended by the American Army Captain who managed the refugee camp. The Captain had a couple of electric guitars and helped Lai lean to play. It was not long before the genius of the young Laotian refugee surpassed the mentor and just about everyone else. Lai currently lives in Canada, but loves the USA.

Here is his version of the Star Spangled Banner….

My baby back ribs just went on for their 4 hour smoking.

    1. Not smoking b/c you had to, I hope? Are you in PEPCO? Heard O’Malley and one of the WDC Comms were whining about restoration not being fast enough. Someone could make a fortune converting inside-495 manure methane into electricity. A never-ending supply for sure!

  4. Junctionseamus: If you can get your hands on some smoked paprika, use that in the rub on your brisket. It adds remarkable, bacony flavor to meats you can’t manage to smoke properly. I use it in my smokerless restaurant kitchen all the time.

  5. It is indeed on honor and a blessing to be part of the greatest country in the world where, in spite of all our differences, we all stand proud as Brothers and Sisters of America. Happy 4th Of July everybody!
