Oregon police have arrested the Rev. Angel Armando Perez at Saint Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn after he was allegedly seen chasing a 12-year-old boy down the street dressed only in his underwear.
The boy later told police that his parents let him go to the priest’s house after Perez asked his parents if he could take the boy on a trip to the mountains. The boy said the priest gave him a beer while watching a movie and then told him to go to sleep on an air mattress that was set up on the living room floor. He says that he woke up being fondled by Perez who held a cell phone in the other hand. When the boy pulled up his underwear and tried to leave, he said “Father Angel called to him saying, ‘Come back to bed.'” It was then that he ran off and was pursued by Perez.
Witnesses said that Perez caught the boy as ran ran up to adults seeking help.
One of the men, James Curths, 35, put the boy behind him and said that Perez stood there wearing only what looked like a speedo.
Witnesses said that Perez appeared intoxicated and said “I am very sorry; I made a mistake. I didn’t mean to hurt . . . I am just one who serves in the church, and I have sinned; don’t stop believing in the church.”
Perez was arraigned in Marion County Circuit Court on Tuesday on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, abuse of a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
This is the factual record where Perez should hope that God will have mercy because he is likely to find little with a jury.

It would seem to me that this priest does not trust his God. For if he did, he would be eager to have a jury
trial. He would be assured by his belief in God that God would touch the hearts of the jury, and they would give him mercy.
Can the church buy him out? Or can the child’s family to pressured to withdraw the child’s testimony?
He went to the parents and asked them if he could take the boy on a “trip to the mountains”? A catholic priest? And they agreed? For me as an atheist, the level of delusion of religious people is certainly hard to imagine, but can I ask anyway: Dear Catholics, how friggin crazy are you? If a member of an organization with a long and well documented history of systemic child rape and torture comes to you and asks you whether he can take your child “into the mountains” with no other people around, shouldn’t your ability to think rationally and a certain instinct of parental concern trump your psychotic religiosity?

Sorry, That civil case settled w/ the diocese and the priest’s order paying big! The last I heard this priest, now defrocked, was an alcoholic in Vegas. That’s where he was deposed.
The facts of this arrest are eerily similar to the incident that eventually lead to the arrest of Jeffrey Dahmer.
When I worked criminal cases many were horrific. The worst civil case I ever worked involved a Catholic priest raping an entire family of children. This priest was accused of fondling boys @ a Catholic school. He was sent to the infamous Catholic retreat in NM. It was decided to have this priest obtain his doctorate so he could teach on a university level. The unstated reason being then @ least his victims would not be minors. So he was sent to a university town and started working on his doctorate. Being an unrepentant predator, he decided to volunteer @ a local Catholic church that was shorthanded. This Church had a grammar school. A nice family was employed @ this church. Mom was the church/school secretary and Dad the maintenance man. I’ll be brief, he raped all 4 kids, including the one girl. This was all kept between the kids because of intimidation and manipulation. It came out in a horrible incident w/ one of the boys when he was in his 20’s of which I’ll spare you details. A shrink was brought in and all the kids, now young adults, came clean.
The cynical defense by the Catholic church for this travesty of priest abuse/rape is that it is motivated by people who hate the Catholic Church. They are wrong, what brought this to a head were devout Catholics who said, Basta!! The criminal prosecutions are finally occurring. And, as someone commented a few days ago on a thread, public enemy #1 is Cardinal Law, residing in the Vatican.

This wouldn’t be an issue if the government would allow the church to post the 10 commandments. Its all the atheist fault, or the dirty hippies from the 60s.
Zarathrusta’s choice of spelling for “Semenary” is quite apt. When they go to these places to learn about God, catolic and licking, their particular Sect such as Jesuit, and their views on the world, it would be appropriate to have the feds come in and do a dna sample. It might be appropriate to get a posse up and running and if they see a Priest running, whether in his underwear or prescribed black shirt and collar, run him down and cut his semen discharge unit off.
In this instance the Holy See needs to pay this kid a sum of money to cleanse his soul of any reference to Catolics, whether they lick or not, and to put him on the path to retribution. Perhaps let him serve on the firing squad of this perp’s execution. Father Angel needs to be put in general population and every predator inmate be given a large cross without vaseline to do you know what.

The castration idea is a good one. It will prevent the priests from even having the desires and will assure their vow of celebicy. Of course, it might hurt the recruitment of priests, but it will restore the publics trust in them.

I am sure the police will have a forensic analysis done on the memory module of the cell phone. Might not be as easy as a regular hard drive due to the latter having latent memories. Hopefully for the state, the memory system in the cell phone will simply erase the address reference to the memory page and leave the actual content of any photograps intact (the memory page might be able to be written over since it is not referenced in the address list {Allocation table perhaps}). I am not familiar with the workings of this type of memory system but somebody there will be.
I found it rather humorous as to, if in fact this angel had memory lapse as to what happened, he was so quick to have the clairvoyance that nothing was on the cell-camera “see nothing here.” was to what he said. When it seemed at least according to the PC statement that he was not prompted about the phone.
A grown man in his underwear chasing a frightened 12 year old boy around midnight; hard to find a more convincing issue of Reasonable Suspicion in my book. One of the examples of “probably best to just plead guilty and not face that jury or the public scrutiny.”
