Oregon police have arrested the Rev. Angel Armando Perez at Saint Luke Catholic Church in Woodburn after he was allegedly seen chasing a 12-year-old boy down the street dressed only in his underwear.
The boy later told police that his parents let him go to the priest’s house after Perez asked his parents if he could take the boy on a trip to the mountains. The boy said the priest gave him a beer while watching a movie and then told him to go to sleep on an air mattress that was set up on the living room floor. He says that he woke up being fondled by Perez who held a cell phone in the other hand. When the boy pulled up his underwear and tried to leave, he said “Father Angel called to him saying, ‘Come back to bed.'” It was then that he ran off and was pursued by Perez.
Witnesses said that Perez caught the boy as ran ran up to adults seeking help.
One of the men, James Curths, 35, put the boy behind him and said that Perez stood there wearing only what looked like a speedo.
Witnesses said that Perez appeared intoxicated and said “I am very sorry; I made a mistake. I didn’t mean to hurt . . . I am just one who serves in the church, and I have sinned; don’t stop believing in the church.”
Perez was arraigned in Marion County Circuit Court on Tuesday on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, abuse of a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
This is the factual record where Perez should hope that God will have mercy because he is likely to find little with a jury.

OK, WTF are these parents thinking? I mean this is the classic case of child endangerment- boy camping alone with priest- if they do not know this ploy by now they are too dumb to be parents. Just like the parents who let their kids spend the night with Michael Jackson. Come on! sheesh
I dont mean to complain or “itchinBay” about Priests, but there is just something doggone irritating about the black shirt with the white collar and the rosary. Whenever I see a Priest with a kid I go bark at em both.
I like the way some folks on here speak their minds. We have a catholic dog here in the dog pack who will remain un named but who says that HumpinDog is also very catholic and got his name on account of his behavior.

Also in the Dahmer story, the cops were fired and then reinstated when their union made a fuss. They were paid off for their lost pay and became decorated, respected officers again AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE. A real scandal.
Nick S, I thought of that too, but in the Dahmer story, the kid who escaped ran up to women who called the cops to get him protection, and the COPS then handed the kid (naked and bleeding!) over to Dahmer, threatened the women with arrest for harassment, and the kid was then killed by Dahmer within the hour. Thank god this citizen hid the kid and confronted and turned in the police; had he run into the kind of officers the two women trying to save Dahmer’s victim from had encountered, this would be a much different story.
In fact, often the act of fronting off the abuser is the only way to make the right thing happen. The reason Sandusky went on abusing so many kids for so many years is that nobody fronted him off and followed up and meant it.
It was also lucky that the man the kid ran to was the right man!
When they can not get into a Semen-ary, they go to work at State Penn. Sorry, Penn State.

I’ve done it in deps before. It’s really no fun. They can never remember anything and they do the hangdog “woe is me” routine. Once trapped, they invariably blame the kid’s mental state or poor home life. It’s all very banal. They know who to prey on for maximum effect and plausible denial.

What is the possible hold that this priest has on the parents. What confessions have been made which gave him leverage?

Randyjet, Castration would not hurt the recruitment of Priests… when one of those immature virginal men decides to become a priest, he has already forfeited his manhood to the church. This would only complete the process…
Svoogle, Since you’re an atheist, it’s hard for you to understand just how much status a priest still has w/ some people. That is what drew pedophiles to the priesthood. It was not only cover for their depravity, they were revered in a target rich enviroment, w/ little chance of consequences.
