Tea Party Declares America Dead By Suicide

By Mark Esposito, Guest Blogger

Still reeling from the unprecedented hits of last week’s national election, Tea Partiers have become particularly irrational. In Lebanon Ohio, local tea party officials called for a “counter-revolution” even as they mourned the death of America.  Texas Republican official, Peter Morrison, has publicly asked for an “amicable divorce”  of  godfearin’ GOP’ers from the “maggots” (his words) who voted for Obama. Morrison, who also has a job screening textbooks for the great state of Texas,  is particularly incensed at Asian-Americans and Hispanics who voted for Obama, accusing them of voting on an “ethnic basis.” Perhaps the greatest case of kettle blacking in recent memory.

Not to be outdone in battleground state of Ohio, Cincinnati Tea Party leaders may have earned the “Most Creative Fool” award by publishing the obituary  above, and offering this studied prediction:
We will be a socialist nation within months. However, a revolution is rising and all those elected officials that are blind to what they have done to this country should be encouraged to become enlightened, should be encouraged to step down and should not be reelected.
Like that of quintessential American, Mark Twain, reports of  the nation’s death may have been greatly exaggerated. After all, timeshare mogul, David Seigel, who once threatened mass layoffs to his workers if Obama won (here), reversed course and actually gave them a 5%  wage increase across the board. Donald Trump deleted his wacky twitter call for revolution and even House Speaker John Boehner has signaled his willingness to compromise work (here) with the President to avert a fiscal crisis.
So perhaps the Tea Party-types have the message right but the wrong corpse. Perhaps the words of that lawyer-turned-metaphysical poet, John Donne, are cautioning the  ill-wishing mulligrubs of our age:

Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

  1. Smom:

you dont have to worry about McDonnell, he is done politically because of the probe.

  2. The tea party governors that were elected in 2010 are up in 2014. They include Scott, Walker, Corbett and Brewer….the worst of the worst.

  3. if Romney had won, there would be a good deal of this on the left as well.

Remember Bush derangement syndrome? It would be Romney derangement syndrome. It would probably be worse because Romney is a Mormon.

I take consolation in knowing Exxon/Mobil, Haliburton and Cheney are still pulling the strings of power and that Barrack is just another corporate minion.

    1. “Remember Bush derangement syndrome?”

      Bron,

Unlike this year, the 2000 election was stolen in Florida, with the aid of its Governor, Jeb Bush. False equivalency that begs the question.

  4. They are embarrassed. They are very childish because they politick on a big-baby-I-want-it-it’s-MINE platform. They are humiliated because a Big-eared Black man beat their golden dreamboy. And they’re mean and vindictive. Look out.

  5. This is not true at all. I went to the local Pee Party event here in my county and in fact I entered both the Distance Event and the Write You Gal’s Name In The Snow contest and won both. No one was moaning or complaining about the election. Hell, we still have Ron Paul and Jon Boner. They can wreck anything that these so called Progressives want to accomplish. It iis still Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb in DC. Dont worry. Be Happyl. And pee farthest.

  6. Cross-threaded by mistake. Now it is right place.

Good article Mark. As others have already said though, they’re crazy and they’ve got guns. They have proved with this outburst that they’re not in favor of Democracy and they really could be persuaded to revolt. Sounds like treason to me.”

Having lots of guns does not mean you have the courage to use them. Some stats on Republican volunteers for
    military service might be interesting.

Putting your body where your mouth is proof of who is a pudding.

    🙂

Maybe, maybe. he’s been elected about 6 times (terms) though so sombody likes him.

  8. And it only gets worse… Now there are petitions in a handful of states about secession. LOL.

I mean, two of the states were hard blue states (Oregon and NJ). Also, why the hell would anybody in NJ really be for that after the way they’ve been getting help since Sandy!?

    People are insane.

  9. Mike S:

    “Sounds like treason to me.”

Here’s to keep calling it what it is. In the words of Sir John Harington:

“Treason doth never prosper: what’s the reason?
Why, if it prosper, none dare call it treason.”

    1. Mark,

Forget Bartlett’s, it’s now Mespo’s Book of Quotations. The wisdom of a learned man. 🙂

  10. The Ayn Rand crowd, the cross burners, birthers, etc. low intelligence. Low competence.

For them in my opinion it’s always the same.
    Mind over matter. I don’t mind they don’t matter….

  11. Good article Mark. As others have already said though, they’re crazy and they’ve got guns. They have proved with this outburst that they’re not in favor of Democracy and they really could be persuaded to revolt. Sounds like treason to me.

  12. Blind Faithiness:

“Libertarians are not going to be out done by tea party-ers in the contest of hyperbolic predictions.”

That Eric Dondero is quite a charmer. Calling for everyone with Democratic friends or family to totally disassociate themselves and divorce ’em if necessary. Armed insurrection, isolationism or — and my favorite solution — running off to other countries as if they want ’em anyway.

I suppose there’s karma in the notion that the ones always claiming the sky is falling are chickens. Bwwaaak! Bwwaaak! 😀

  13. i’ve been over at redstate reading their comments, nothing but “purges” and bad old liberal media sidetracked us.

they are fun to poke though.
