NAME MY DOG

Picture 1320As many of you know, we lost our beloved Molly a few months ago after she was hit by a SUV.  We planted a beautiful “Molly bush” in front of the house and have had a hard time getting over her loss. We decided to get another goldendoodle like Molly for sentimental reasons (as well as the need for a hypoallergenic dog for some friends).  This earlier picture shows the puppy that we will pick up next week.  She is a bit bigger now but you get the idea.  We are divided on the name so I turn to my blog community for guidance. Below are the contenders, though you can suggest alternative names as well in the comment section. While we reserve the right of self-determination, the Turley family is looking to the wisdom of the greatest blog for the greatest dog in the world.

  1. I have an old dog (who is on her last legs) named Holly. She’s named after an Assistant States Attorney who started practicing at the same time as me. She’s very sweet and she is also half pit-bull. The ASA, a friend, is aware of the dog’s name and at least pretends to approve.

  2. I selected “Pepper” … first place right now.

Anyway, such a beautiful animal will be good for the fam no matter the name.

  3. That’s a “Martha” or a “Betsy” if I ever saw one. She’s beatiful. Congrats

  4. Jonathan Turley, how thoughtful of you, to share the arrival of your new puppy, after sharing beautifully the loss of Molly. I am convinced Molly chose her, as dark a color as hers was light. We are sending you our best energies. edmee\verlyn

  5. I think a dog should have a name that denotes its sex immediately, so I voted for Luna, though Juno would be good as well, but Juno requires a bit of knowledge from strangers to know that Juno is a female name too.

I know that no dog can replace Molly, but getting a new puppy will bring more joy to your family and lessen the pain of her loss. I know she will be a great dog for you.

PS I loved seeing you on CNN, and hope that they will have enough sense to give you more air time in the future.

  6. The dogpac reviewed the article and the photo and have decided upon the name “Buster”. Yeah, I know that Buster sounds like a male dog’s name. But this dog looks like a Buster and has spunk like a Buster.

  7. I see a Fiona. Though if I went with the list, I’d vote Juno. And I like Meina that another poster suggested above very much for her.

I am glad you have found another dog to love. wish you’d gone to the humane society, or some shelter. lots of homeless pups out there, albeit not necessarily some special breed.

new to this blog. It’s great. thanks for helping to keep us informed.

  8. What a cute little one. Stick with Juno, or anything else, she is so cute. Puppies are the greatest.

  9. My Laycee died of old age (or whatever, after 11.5 years) I will get a rescue Schnauzer in the next few weeks….. but I can’t name it Laycee…but you can.

  10. That’s a ”Roscoe” if I’ve ever seen one…. How adorable!

  11. We had a Juno until recently – a most wonderful pet she was.
