Diplomacy By Rape: Prominent Iranian Warns That Daughters Of American Officials Will Be Kidnapped And Raped In Retaliation For Syrian Attack

250px-flag_of_iransvgVarious news sites are reporting that Alireza Forghani, prominent Khamenei strategist and former governor of southern Iran’s Kish Province, has warned that the daughters of American officials will be kidnapped and raped by Muslims in response to any Syrian attack. He would presumably include President Obama’s daughters in a latest insight into the twisted religious fanaticism of Iranian officials. The quote is all-too-believable for Forghani who previously called for the eradication of Jews in Israel. He also previously proclaimed “In the name of Allah, Iran must attack Israel by 2014.”

Forghani is quoted as saying “In just 21 hours [after the attack on Syria], a family member of every U.S. minister [department secretary], U.S. ambassadors, U.S. military commanders around the world will be abducted. And then 18 hours later, videos of their amputation will be spread [around the world].” In most cultures, such a statement would be viewed as a sign of insanity and the person condemned as a public menace. In Iran, however, the promise of raping innocent girls and women is viewed by some leaders as a natural and moral response to anger.

The comment is clearly being cited to encourage people to stand firm with President Obama in attacking Syria. Indeed, I cannot find any direct reference to Obama’s daughters, but that is the headline in many articles.  Rather, the quote refers to an “amputation” of such family members. However, even if true (as is now being widely reported), it only reaffirms the level of unhinged extremism that permeates this region. Part of the opposition to the Obama plan to attack Syria is the lack of any stated objective or strategy.

As with the recent murder of a leading women’s rights advocate in Afghanistan, these horrific acts are treated as the work of moral Muslims by some religious leaders in these countries. It is no coincidence that it is the daughters and wives that come immediately to the minds of people like Forghani. In a system that treats women like chattel, this seems like an easy choice for a fanatic. It is ironic that religious extremists (who constantly denounce the lack of morality in the West) seem sex-obsessed in such acts of retaliation. Faced with a possible attack, Forghani’s mind turns immediately to rape. I would not be surprised if faced with fishing rights violations or copyright infringement, his mind turns also to rape. For people like Forghani, public policy appears a vehicle for rape fantasies. However, these appear in his view to be morally justified rapes sanctioned by God.

  1. …on a side note, his official position was not as a Governor..but the equivalent of a County Supervisor–since kish is not officially a province. He was apparently an appointee of Ahmadinejad’s Government, but he was dismissed…which should tell the World the extent of how truly out of the mainstream his views are than from Ahmadinejad and his gang….

  2. I appreciate Professor Turley’s comments. I tweeted a link to Dr. Zarif, the Iranian Foreign Minister, with a request to have this fool muzzled by putting a zipper on his mouth. This is only one Iranian Foreign Minister. I also saw his rants on his website and I was frankly sickened. In my view, he does not represent mainstream current Iranian Govt. Policy as Iran comes to grips with a post-Ahmadinejad Era.

  3. I am far more outraged at the obscene rapaciousness of the US govt.’s insistence that we start another invasion of a country which has done nothing to us. Professor, WE are the unhinged extremists. My God!

  4. I still oppose intervention in Syria.

As to this crazy man, he seems to fit the profile of some of the so called rebels we are being pushed to help in Syria.

  5. Another example of religion gone wild. The treatment of women in these societies is abhorrent and these wild claims will only continue to foment disgusting actions against women in his country.

  6. That’s ok Iran… When you do that our government will not only bomb you but then turn around and rape us into another war….

  7. Craziods carrying religious books around which they do not have any rational attachment to.

Like Johnny Yoo carrying around a copy of the Constitution.

  8. Well, I believe in this case, one must ask the question: Diplomacy by Rape… or Diplomacy by Bombing Campaign, as we practice diplomacy, here in the United States……….. Which is Worse??????

  9. Yeah, and Iranian “students” will probably be the rapists. Remember 1979! Remember Saturday Night Live in 1979 era: Bomb, bomb, bomb, … Bomb bomb Iran! Oh, bomb Iraaaan, I will take my staaaand. Rockin and a rollin, rockin and a reelin Barbaran.

  10. It’s a frightening example of possibilities how retaliation for attack on Syria could spread into our streets everywhere – I would not put it past those lunatics, why not just let them kill each other and we just organise humanitarian aid for refugees and displaced under strict control and monitoring so it doesn’t get into wrong hands

  11. To be fair, most religion plays to an obsessive crowd to begin with: those obsessed with death and living forever. When you throw sex into the mix, you’re asking for a hodgepodge of crazy reactions. Mix in (un)healthy doses of missionary zeal and proselytism and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.
