Teen idol and Canadian citizen Justin Bieber just entered the consciousness of serious adults but it wasn’t for his singing or making their teenage daughters swoon. No, Justin set the world ablaze due to a pot smoke-filled airline cabin and a felony arrest for egging a neighbor’s house. And lest you think the American Congress has better things to do than follow the shenanigans of today’s latest pop star, think again. At least one senator has called for his deportation and an on-line petition to jump-start that process has gathered 100,000 signatures.
The story starts out as it often does with talent out-racing maturity and stage parents ever-willing to cash in with little regard for the consequences. Bieber made his splash in Hollywood with an album entitled “My World” after bumping around YouTube. The record went platinum in 2009 and his career was off. What followed was more songs and awards by the dozens along with 40 million followers on Twitter. Money followed fame and Bieber moved to LA taking full advantage of his O-1 visa but eschewing American citizenship.
After money came the seemingly inevitable skirmishes with the law. Charged with vandalism in Brazil, the 19-year-old added to his blotter with missteps in Australia and Columbia for his graffiti filled nights. There were of course the drug busts and reckless driving and DUI arrest, and then of course assaulting a limo driver who had the temerity to suggest that maybe the kid has imbibed a little too much. LA neighbors got involved after Bieber egged a house and a felony arrest followed.
The recent fiasco involves a little charter trip for Justin and his dad. According to the pilots, marijuana fumes from the passenger compartment were so intense that the pair had to don breathing masks to avoid becoming intoxicated and hence subject to FAA sanction. Like a bad Cheech & Chong movie, the father-son pair in the rear were partying it up. Maybe they were yucking it up talking about Bieber’s on-again, off-again romance with actress Selena Gomez whom Bieber reported bragged about taking her virginity. Gomez has since gone into alcohol rehab and the anti-abortion Christian Bieber is sticking to his line that “I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them.” The couple has broken up according to many sources.
Which all leads to the hallowed halls of the United States Congress. Virginia Senator Mark Warner is no Bieleber, as Justin’s fans call themselves. The father of three daughters, Warner said he’d step right up to sign the deportation petition circulating on-line and now with over 100,000 signatures. “As a dad with three daughters, is there some place I can sign?,” he asked radio station WNOR recently. Most Americans have about the same opinion of Bieber. A recent poll showed Bieber being viewed unfavorably by 54% of those polled.
And in the entertainment business your popularity is your fortune. This can’t possibly end well.

Some of these kids dont even want to be famous their forced into it so mommy and daddy and can live out their foolish dreams. the industry chews you up and spits you out….. i know from first hand experience the difference is that i knew to get out. before devil claimed my soul.. like many others who are called one hit wonders.. thats far from the truth.. they just refused to sell their souls, bodies, and lives for the price of fame….. writing these articles and signing that petition means nothing.. as long as the elites who own everything can continue to use him to keep the teens distracted while making money off of him… you’re going to hear his name… havent any of you figured it out yet?

Randy according to what I have read Cruz hasn’t actually filed for his American citizenship yet. If he did away with his Canadian citizenship he would be stateless. He really needs to resign from the Senate. I am amazed the the GOP is sooo comfortable with this foreigner.
Justice, I did not know you had to apply for US citizenship if you were born abroad. I went to the US State Dept and if he did not apply for US citizenship, he is NOT legally a US citizen! I think you are probably correct that he is not officially a citizen yet. I wonder how he was able to vote, and run for office, but given the state of contempt most GOPers have for our laws, especially here in Texas, it does not surprise me.

I originally thought I did not care about whether the man-child stays or goes, but others here have made the point that keeping him here sends a message that wealth and fame give you a pass to get away with anything. On the other hand, we have Wall Street titans whose greed and irresponsibility contributed mightily to the crash, who still enjoy unrivaled rank and privilege. (Not even community service for those wankers.)

If we use this criteria as a rationale for deportation, the country would have a lot fewer inhabitance in Hollywood, Wall Street, Congress, the Judiciary, and every City in America. Don’t you all remember Jerry Spence’s book “With Justice For None.” How much does a DUI cost to remedy? It $10K to $15 here in Palm Beach County, depending on who you are. If you don’t have the money, oh well!!!!

Firstly, I LOVE Elaine linking to TMZ. For celebrity stuff like this they are actually a good source. This is not sarcasm, I like it. Secondly, we all tend to think in our own world. I have vinyl siding as do many of my neighbors. So, 20k in damage is probably not possible. But, this wealthy punk hoser lives in a ritzy neighborhood. They have as Elaine’s link pointed out, Venetian plaster. And, the prosecution will have to prove the $ amount, which I’m quite sure they will.
While we are discussing the deportation of Mr. Beiber, let us consider WHY we are along a Canadian to sit in the SENATE!
JusHolmes, What is more disturbing is that a Harvard Law grad says he cannot figure out how to cancel his Canadian citizenship. HELL, even I could do that one! Then let’s not forget about a Yale Law grad being confused by the simple form listing his wife’s income, and also forgetting that she earned over HALF A MILLION dollars and did not list ANY of that income on his forms. We used to call such a thing perjury, and Pres.Clinton lost his law license for not contradicting a statement his lawyer made on his behalf which he knew to be false. But then SCOTUS justices are above us all and our laws.

Really? I am in no way a Beiber apologist but a felony for egging a house? I would imagine that there are a lot of ‘youts’ out there who would be facing hard prison time. A pot-filled airplane cabin, Ok, maybe since California isn’t Washington or Colorado.but egging? I can understand a law suit (God knows what Venetian plaster costs nowadays) but I think that a felony is a little over the top. Just deport the twerp and be done with it.

Law enforcement sources tell us … L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies are fast-tracking the investigation and they told the neighbor he had to get them repair estimates by today. We know the neighbor is locked and loaded with paperwork.
We’re told the entire front of his house must be re-plastered. To do the job — which is especially expensive because it’s Venetian plaster — will cost around $15K. There’s another $5,000 in damage to the entry, including various doors that must be re-stained.

The felony charge is simply based on a benchmark for the $ amount of the criminal damage to property. The $ amount put it into the felony category. We have plenty of bad actors poisoning our culture. This punk hoser needs to go home.

I agree that this little sh@t needs to be deported, but $20,000 in damage from eggs? I’m surprised that no one in the media has questioned this. Simply having the household staff rinse them off with hoses after the police left would have done the trick. Even if a little scrubbing was needed, how could that do $20,000 in damage?
If I were the defense, I would subpoena all the contractors who worked on the exterior of the house and ask them if their work was really that fragile. If it was, how could this house stand up to the elements?

He can afford $20K. So he writes a check for a legitimate estimate. If he doesn’t, sue him. Isn’t that how we resolved disputes like this in the past. We used to have egg fights every year when we were kid in junior high. Cops would catch a few of the kids, call their parents and send them home. As far as a smoke filled cabin. The Captain couldn’t make them stop????? We’ve turning into a bunch of fascists. Really, felony and deportation. If Justin is found guilty of the felony he faces a strong case for deportation. If that happened and the appeals ended he would face a potential prison sentence if he returned to the US.
Nick is right about the felony nature of the egging incident. The damage was reported to be $20,000 so it was by dollar amount a felony. To me he is in a precarious position. If the neighbor/victim is upset enough, which given Justin’s neighbor hood diplomacy campaigns I could only imagine he is very, the pressing of charges and mitigating of damages on the victim end might not work in Justin’s favor. So it is going to be, I would imagine, prosecutor’s discretion. Plus it’s not going to be a difficult case.
Essentially the crimes he committed as he is on a visa is a severe career limiting move as they say. His agents and producers must be quite upset with him.
I have to agree with Mark this is not going to end well.
Darren, even if the neighbor had a Van Gough hanging on the outside of his house, it is delusional to claim that egging could generate those kinds of damages. So this is not even going to go to court, unless the DA wants to court a malicious prosecution charge to deal with. It is good theater for the cops and the neighbor. At most it will be plead down to a misdemeanor.
