Reading, Writing, and Rockets? The UN Discovers 20 Rockets Hidden At School In Gaza

300px-Flickr_-_Israel_Defense_Forces_-_Eight_Qassam_Launchers_in_GazaIsrael has long accused Palestinian groups of using schools and hospitals as launching or storage areas for weapons. The practice effectively uses patients, children, and others as human shields and increases civilian fatalities when Israel retaliates after rocket attacks. It is obviously a despicable practice that violates basic rules of international law as well as the law of war. On Thursday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency confirmed this practice when it found 20 rockets at a UN-funded school in Gaza in “the course of the regular inspection of its premises.”

The UN issued a statement that “UNRWA strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations. This is a flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises under international law.” It added that the callous action “endangered civilians including staff and put at risk UNRWA’s vital mission to assist and protect Palestinian refugees in Gaza.” The UNRWA has been one of the most outspoken critics of Israel’s attacks and its treatment of Palestinians.

The most pressing question is whether the school officials and teacher knew of the use of the school for military purposes. It is hard to hide 20 rockets and they were obviously apparent when the UN inspection occurred.

It was not only an act that endangered these children but it was remarkably stupid. Those responsible have alienated the chief supplier of aid and further alienated the world community at a time when public sentiment was shifting in their favor.

    … The UN hates Israel.

    See what I mean.

The UN created the nation of Israel in 1947 and they tell me God created them when he renamed Jacob Israel after a wrestling match.

Israel uses it’s Iron Dome missiles to protect its citizens, shooting terrorists missiles out of the sky, and injuring no one. The system is strictly DEFENSIVE. Hamas uses civilians to protect its cache of missiles. That is about as stark a contrast as there can be, all you Jew haters.

All hail Ronnie Raygun and Spar Wars and Star Wars (Ronnie vs. John Wain).

Can corporations be Jews? Or Israel? (The Jews were only one tribe of Israel) … oh never mind … you have your history and History has its history.

  3. Shifra, It is getting more and more difficult to separate the anti-Semites from people w/ legitimate problems w/ Israeli policies. This post is a fairly good litmus test. The UN hates Israel. If they find Hamas rockets in their school you can be assured they were not planted by Israel. If their were even a HINT of a conspiracy, the UN would report that aspect as well.

  4. Fascinating how all the Jew-haters can still spin a story–about the UN finding 20 rockets in a UN-funded school–AGAINST the Jews. . .it would be funny if it weren’t so sad. . .Bob, Esq. condemns various Jewish individuals who have made derogatory remarks about the Palestinians, yet not one word about the vile and despicable things that are said by Hamas about Zionists and/or Jews on a daily basis. Get a translation of what is printed and/or broadcast in the Arab media, Bobby-boy. . .the comments that you cited pale in comparison.

  5. Referring to the creation of Israel in 1948, Meir declared: “It was not as if there was a Palestinian people in Palestine and we came and threw them out and took their country away from them. They did not exist.” Or: “How can we return the occupied territories? There’s nobody to return them to.”

This is the ultimate in dehumanising people whose identity you have to deny in order to justify your actions towards them. It is a modern adaptation of the doctrine of terra nullius – empty land – which English colonists invoked to rob Australia from those who had lived there for 50,000 years. Meir and Captain Cook are sister and brother under the skin.

Her views are not unrepresentative: deputy Prime Minister Yitzhak Katzir – “We will keep them on their knees. We will follow them all over the world and kill them”; defence minister and chief of staff minister Moshe Dayan – “Jackals”; Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir – “Grasshoppers”; Prime Minister Menahem Begin – “Two-legged vermin”; defence forces chief of staff Rafael Eitan – “We need to keep Palestinians like drugged roaches in a bottle.”

  6. I don’t see this as any conspiracy on the part of the Israeli Government to place these missiles for propaganda purposes. Given the military and civil situation in Israel in the past few weeks, I don’t see it being plausible they would obtain some of these rockets sourced from HAMAS and then pursue a covert operation to put them into a school bus in some school facility in Gaza. Contrast this to HAMAS looking for a storage area in their hometown and putting them into a bus. What is more logical from a practical point of view?

Surely if the Israeli Government wanted a propaganda program, wouldn’t the raining of hundreds of missiles down upon its territory and civilian population launched from Gaza be enough?

  8. “Who benefits? Not Hamas, . . . . So……. think about it.”

I am thinking about it which it doesn’t sound like you did. Who benefits? That’s easy. Hamas does if the Israelis do not target their weapons or people because of the risk of killing children. Hamas also does if Israel does kill innocent children because that hurts Israel’s and helps Hamas’ international support. And, I am one who is sympathetic to the plight of the Palestinian people and thinks the US is too pro-Israel. Don’t care for Hamas whatsoever though.

  9. A good idea to read the Guardian report in the link above. Interesting to note that it was a vacant school, and the first such occurrence found by UNRWA.

  10. Bailers, Didn’t you read the haters. The dirty Jews planted these missiles. Himmler would be proud!

  11. But I thought that only Israel was to blame for the problems in the Middle East?

  12. Anti-Semitism is on the upswing throughout the world, and here @ the Turley blog.

  13. This is the HAMAS MO. Use humans as human shields and then say it’s appalling that they were hurt or killed during the gun fire. The Palestinians are the “human shields” of the anti Israel governments in the MIDDLE EAST. It they expended as much time and money on building up the Palestinian people; educating them and assisting them in economic developmental as they do in helping them kill people it would be such a different region but that isn’t what they want.

  14. Brainwashing of infants with insane hatred based religion is the root of this evil.

  15. I think the UN inspectors are quite capable of figuring out if those missiles were a plant. I am also quite aware of the crimes the Israelis have committed with complete impunity against Palestinians. The fact is that Netanyahu needs to keep Hamas alive and active to keep power and to prevent peace from breaking out. The solution would be to take over all of Gaza and kill or imprison most of the Hamas people and destroy them once and for all. It serves his purpose better to keep on “mowing the grass” as Netanyahu says about the attacks into Gaza rather than solve the problem once and for all.

I recall the meeting at Camp David between Barak and Arafat when Clinton was there. The media as usual got it wrong by saying Arafat had rejected Barak’s offer. The fact is that he only stated he could not sign until he got approval from home. PBS ran a special on the final work being done at Barak’s home with Arafat being there. They DID sign a peace agreement, but Barak faced an election to make it effective. Hamas and others swore that they would kill that agreement by mass suicide bombings in Israel. They succeeded despite the best efforts by the CIA and Arafat to stop them. So Netanyahu won the election, and the agreements were dead.

  16. Hamas reminds me of a lawless street gang….Like the MS 13 in El Salvador. So why compare these 2 groups?

The ultraviolent Mara Salvatrucha street gang, a k a MS-13 — whose 10,000 members sow murder and mayhem in dozens of American cities
    — has been secretly backing El Salvador’s ruling party for several years, according to evidence that has emerged in recent weeks.

Israel is going after those Hamas tunnels……Operation Caddyshack

  17. The news media are able to pull up the old Us v Them files, change the date, and post them today.

Life is easy in media land when things stay the same.

It is a brain vacation for them.

  18. Who benefits? Not Hamas, not the Palestinian people. So……. think about it. Clearly it was a false flag operation, meant to discredit the Palestinians. The rockets weren’t even hidden very well.
