A woman identified as Ekaterina Parkhomenko from Torez has become the very face of inhumanity and greed around the Malaysian Air crash site in the Ukraine. People around the world have been disgusted by stories of the Russian-backed militia stealing credit cards and cellphones from the crash site as well as preventing investigators from detailing the facts about the crash. However, pro-Russian local Parkhomenko allegedly went further and actually posted pictures on social media sites bragging about how she was able to snatch looted mascara from a dead woman and then took selfies showing how the mascara looked on her.
Parkhomenko said that the make up was looted from the downed Malaysian Airlines flight, writing “Mascara from Amsterdam, or rather from the field. Well, I think you know what I mean.” She said that a friend brought the mascara to her after looting the dead in the field. Other images show Russian-backed militia taking wedding rings and other objects from the bodies. However, there is something especially grotesque of looting makeup from a dead woman and then parading with it on for the world to see.
Parkhomenko describes herself as a “separatist” and wrote that she “hates everything Ukrainian.” Well, the feeling is now mutual with virtually every person on Earth in how we feel about Parkhomenko.

Social media can’t be trusted as it is currently a highway for confusion and propaganda. Everyone has cell phones but makeup and vanity items are rare? Provocations here are intentional, and the false faces of righteous indignation get a tea party luncheon over the contempt it spreads. I think there are more disgusting things going on then these stupid insinuations that appear to target an entire population for what is opportunism in a war zone by callous and depraved individuals. But why write about it as a grandstanding event that makes monsters of an entire regional identity? Propaganda is sometimes the propagation of a belief not worth supporting as a whole.

Looting in this area was a given. A rural area in a war zone. Human nature or the lust factor kicks in.

Separatists, once members of the old Soviet guard, have been reduced to commoners by the breakup of the USSR. They despise Ukrainians because they despise the commoners. That is what elitists do. That, and enslave them for their selfish gain.

But that still doesn’t make it at all likely that a young woman would self-identify as a Russian separatist, say she “hates everything Ukrainian,” and post pictures of herself while bragging she’s wearing a dead woman’s makeup. As even the Daily Mail noted, this predictably elicited derision from both sides.
What’s next? Does she follow up with a post bragging that she has herpes?

What is truly disturbing is to see someone purported to be a sane voice on the abuses of government policies like Mr. Turley continuing to fall for the same crap from the people who gave us Saddam’s WMDs and Assad’s Sarin attacks. Paul, Great comment. There are some Ukraine haters here, but they are blind to the Russian war crimes. The shooting down of a civilian jet is a war crime. And the war criminals still will not allow neutral investigators into the site. A travesty and Putin is getting away w/ it because no one has the balls to stand up to this KGB thug.

Looters are always a problem at every disaster, that is why we used to shoot them on sight. It did slow them down. Ekaterina is now the “face” of the Russian separatists.
I would argue that looting anything is grotesque, it does not have to be makeup. The problem with looting makeup is that you do not know where it has been before. We can hope that the original owner had a nasty skin disease that gets transferred.
The looting is bad enough, but I just can’t understand how people get to where they think they’ll get accolades for bragging about it. This woman seems to have no conscience.
Sharing makeup is very unsanitary. I hope she gets an eye infection.
